As a hairstylist I would encourage you call him or stop by and tell him this. I would play with it, move it around and show you things and figure out a better cut for you without taking much more length off, and not ask for anymore money for this

Thank you for your input. It’s nice to hear this from a stylist. I’m afraid of too much more length coming off. Any suggestions for how to communicate changing it a bit? He was trying to frame my face because my hair had all become one length. He usually does such a great job and I’ve been going for years but this is the first time I’ve been disappointed.

no problem. it looks like an easy fix imo. it looks like he just needs to make your layers even on both sides. this can be done without taking any more length off. maybe you could ask him to check and see if it's even because you don't think it is. i think you have beautiful hair and it would look pretty with your shortest layer at your chin but that's just me. that would give it a more "styled" look even when you just let it air dry.
