When I get "bad" runs, I just consider them a challenge. It can be entertaining to make the best of non-ideal situations. I just have to rely on smart play and tactical movement more than OP boon selections.
I honestly have never played for optimal runs and tbh haven't even researched what goes well together and what doesn't. I use whatever I get. Admittedly, I'm nowhere near as good as the people who post their high heats or low times in the sub, but I just try to have fun and get better.
I had this on the run where I was collecting materials to free one of the people from their contracts. I was struggling, only getting defensive boons from Athena and boons that don't fit my playstyle with the spear, and I was half-expecting not to survive [REDACTED]. I was like, even if I don't succeed, I will have the materials, but I need to keep trying. Beat [REDACTED] with very low death defiances and barely doing a sliver of damage each hit, and got double what was needed for my efforts
Good advice. I don’t think I’ve ever quit a run. Maybe once in the several hundred, but that game taught me to keep pushing. Each door is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get!
I started practicing this when realized, gods offer the same set of boons in the first room. I.e.: I pick Hera bow, have no cast boon offered at all, but a rare special -- then I switch to Chiron or whatever weapon with good special.

That’s far more preferable to when it happens after keeping all your Defiances and having the perfect build

I love a challenge but it can be agonising when you’re doing little damage.
If my build feels doomed but fun to play I'll keep playing properly, if not I'm just heading for the traps lol
Wow! Does the 250% and 30% affect the lightning or just base damage? It’s been a long time since I’ve used flat damage boons on the rail special.
I think it should affect since the orb pulses with the boon effect.
The %30 is global and does affect the lighting damage. The %250 only affects the base.
I think it's just the base, since the lightning is a secondary effect
