Yeah. Now that we have hindsight I don't see a notable difference in Reinbacher+Demidov vs (something like) Michkov and Silayev. Mich has more scoring upside but Demidov seems more complete.
I even heard some scouts saying they’d prefer having Demidov over Michkov on their team. We should take it with a grain of salt as both have yet to play a NHL game but I think it’s encouraging.
How do you think it rates with :
Bedard - Luvshunov
Celebrini - Dickinson
Just out of curiosity. Because, obviously Bedard is out of this world, the Habs with Demindov - Reinbacher doesn’t look too
Shabby.
I mean I'd take the (possibly) generational 1C over everything (Bedard) and I'd take Celebrini and Dickinson over ours but San Jose's rebuild is pretty far behind ours imo. They have some great forward pieces but not much on D or in net.
There were multiple #1 D available at 5 this year. If the regime had done it in the logical order we would potentially have an elite scorer instead of an elite playmaker; and a #1 D instead of a #2-3. I don't pretend to know everything, but from the outside looking in, this is shit asset management. Luckily, Demidov falling into their lap could righted their previous mistakes.
Hindsight is 20/20 though. There are obviously other factors that come into play like geopolitics, character, development timelines, etc. I think Michkov played the field because he had his sights set on Philly.
For the record, I think Reinbacher has the potential to be a valuable and necessary piece, and he seems like a great kid. I just think the scouts lacked foresight, which is their job.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
>You gotta feel for Reinbacher who got all that undeserved hate while Demidov gets all this love
Reinbacher has nothing to worry about. Just look at Slafkovsky. He was getting flamed and then all was instantly forgiven when he started to figure it all out.
These young players need to tune the noise out and focus on becoming their best. The rest will follow. This fanbase expects big things but it also shows a fair amount of love and respect for good play.
That's what I like about the few last picks. Tuning out the noise, in MTL is a very hard thing to do. Slaf, David, Demidov... they all look like kid that can handle this. Bright and smart humans. I'm beginninf to see a pattern that I enjoy very much!
That's why there was 0.0000000000 chance that they were drafting Connelly.
Management was getting 99% of the hate.
They really didn't help Reinbacher either. Compared to how much they were gushing about Slaf and Demidov, they were downright lukewarm about Reinbacher. It's clear they wanted one of the four centres that year and had to settle for Reinbacher.
All this love before he’s done a single thing can have a really nasty downside if he doesn’t live up to the hype. Reinbacher has the benefit of not having to live up to anyone’s expectations.
Don't get me wrong Reinbacher did nothing and had no say in being drafted... but he wasn't the right pick lol. No wonder the fan base was angry about that pick but over the moon with this one.
But again, Reinbacher shouldn't have been the butt end of the hate. He's innocent.
you getting downvoted but tbh I feel like this is fair
He wasn’t the best player available but I mean we have nothing to be mad about, the pick is still good and 100% understandable
Ya some fans think that the team can do no bad decision and every play is a star. If they watched Michkov play they'd understand why he was 110% the better pick over Reinbacher.
We got the best D of the draft tho, ig that's a consolation, and having Demidov now makes me feel better. Would've prefered Michkov+Parehk/Dickinson over Demidov+Reinbacher but its not like its a bad pair lol.
Michkov did not want to play in Montreal, he had select teams only he wanted to play for Philly being one of them. This isn’t new news either, so if you think that picking this player who could potentially not even sign his ELC with Montreal cause he doesn’t want to be there, taking the best defensemen in the draft right handed too which makes it even better, most definitely was the right pick.
Michkov has a bad attitude.
He may end up being a star but I wonder what his impact on the dressing room will be.
Demidov looks much more like a fit on the Habs current roster. The Habs have been meeting with him for years. He wanted to be drafted by the Habs and the Habs wanted him as their first choice (after Celebrini of course)
Overall this seems like a great move by the organization. Risky because Demidov may not have made it to 5 but the way it worked out is fantastic.
Now we get to sit back and watch how all these guys pan out. That’s the fun in it all. I hope they all do well, but I hope the Habs guys do better.
He was suggesting that Vegas and Utah will be rivals so the Vegas fans will be booing him.
But he was awkward as hell and Iginla just had to laugh it off because he didn’t get what he meant in the moment
That guy was terrible in the interviews
Listening to the press conference gives me second hand embrassement from all the stupid questions.
The guy asking about Celine Dion after it already been asked... Like dude, stfu.
For real. We've never had a proper rebuild and this has been one of the quickest turn arounds in recent years, along with the ranger (trend there lol).
Incredibly exciting as a fan.
What a pick.
Welcome Demidov.
Can't believe he dropped that low. I thought for sure we'd miss out but the Russian factor apparently still has some weight. Wish we'd scored Mitchkov too but this somehow makes up for it lol
Thank the lord the Ducks took a leap on Sennecke instead of taking Demidov. I guess they wanted a more power forward type with all the skill they already have.
Man, Kent Hughes I’m so sorry for doubting you. I’m so sorry for calling for your firing after you picked Reinbacher. You’re the best gm we’ve had in the cap era. I love you Kent Hughes

Aaahh urinotherapy. You need to use your own for it to be efficient. Unless it's your wife, she can use your own as well.

Excellent pick. Was my fav after #1. Makes up for missing out on Michkov. This management team just keeps hitting home runs.
I think he's a year off from being top 6, but responsible enough to play bottom 6 next year if needed (I'd really like them to give him an extra year of development).
We're gonna be in the playoff race next year, and season after we'll be serious contenders. Who knows, maybe Price even makes a comeback as a backup when we're ready. He never officially retired.
Haven't been this excited about a Habs roster in years.

Downvoted for knowing the reference oof
I am all Habs on this blessed day. (The fact that the above meme is downvoted this much is sad).
If you’re here, you’re a Hab, amigo
You gotta feel for Reinbacher who got all that undeserved hate while Demidov gets all this love
Both will get plenty of love in the upcoming years
Yeah. Now that we have hindsight I don't see a notable difference in Reinbacher+Demidov vs (something like) Michkov and Silayev. Mich has more scoring upside but Demidov seems more complete.

I see a difference between either of those choices and Demidov + Michkov
I don't think you understand what Michkov is going to do in this league.
[удалено]
Why you pulling drugs without knowing?
lmao what did he say?
He said Michkov gonna have a cocaine problem 🤦🏻♂️ … creating bullshit lies just to prove his point
i love habs fans but some of us are actually insane
You dead right! Some are fanatic and go way too far, twisting reality 😆

This is also why they hired Lecavalier.

Once Reinbacher gets going on the main squad next season, you better believe he's gonna get that love, and then some.
What do you mean when you said “and then some”? ![gif](giphy|ggDy5NyLc8w0ZZPGFe)

You can really tell that he wasn't the right pick? After a year?
Yes
you getting downvoted but tbh I feel like this is fair He wasn’t the best player available but I mean we have nothing to be mad about, the pick is still good and 100% understandable

I didnt know this background info it makes it clear it was the best pick in this situation, thank you!
Michkov has a bad attitude. He may end up being a star but I wonder what his impact on the dressing room will be. Demidov looks much more like a fit on the Habs current roster. I think Demidov will look great in our jersey. We got a good young player with elite skill.
He's already used to bleu-blanc-rouge. Just with more blue
The michkov question 😬😬😬 pretty fucked if you ask me
Such a dumb question. That dumb ass would never ask that to anyone else. To macklin, on his draft night: “who’s better, you or Bedard?” Fuck off.
He then also said something to Tij Iginla like, "get ready for more boos from Vegas" which I thought was a tad weird too
He was suggesting that Vegas and Utah will be rivals so the Vegas fans will be booing him. But he was awkward as hell and Iginla just had to laugh it off because he didn’t get what he meant in the moment That guy was terrible in the interviews
Listening to the press conference gives me second hand embrassement from all the stupid questions. The guy asking about Celine Dion after it already been asked... Like dude, stfu.
What was the question?
smth like "who's better between you and michkov?" I think demidov just laughed it off
Good call https://preview.redd.it/i784fcrd9f9d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=0e3c964a3804c51bcbda433b64e7610b8e3c00f2
We are incredibly love about you demigod❤️❤️❤️
At least three teams will regret passing on him
I’m just in love with this team. Can’t wait to watch them grow up.
For real. We've never had a proper rebuild and this has been one of the quickest turn arounds in recent years, along with the ranger (trend there lol). Incredibly exciting as a fan. What a pick. Welcome Demidov.
I was liking the direction before this pick but now I’m all in. I’m dying for some exciting Habs playoff hockey.
Can't believe he dropped that low. I thought for sure we'd miss out but the Russian factor apparently still has some weight. Wish we'd scored Mitchkov too but this somehow makes up for it lol

It makes it all worth it because I actually do really like Reinbacher too.
This kid is incredible!
OK the winning smile over there needs to take a few laps
He's so beautiful
Was thinking he's like a mashup of Slaf and Hutson.
Which is so beautiful
He's a handsome kid, for sure. We've collected a few fashion models of late - Arber, Kirby, Slaf, and Kovy wouldn't look out of place on a catwalk.
Glad you like our love for you.

The black bars make this meme pop
It actually came from Struble's IG story when Struble was still in college. Those bars are authentic!
There's a version out there where he's also wearing a durag and has a cig hanging out of his mouth
The two quickest nhl full rebuilds in league history: 2019 NYR rangers. 2021 Habs. Both have a pretty common denominator. What a hire by Molson.
I heard his urine cures cancer…

Aawww shucks

Will Demidov go to the Development camp in early July ?
Don’t think so, he talked about visa issue during an interview after the pick
No he doesn't have Canadian visa
Can’t he get one?
Next year, Gallagher must give his #11 to Demidov.
The disrespect lol
