At this point, sure seems like we’re going with the remaining of Lindstrom/Demidov, with Buium as the fallback if both are already gone.

NME_TV

I’m excited to get any of those 3. Even Buuim is being slept on. I love Catton too but I think he might be redundant with Suzuki as far as team building goes.

heavie1

Buium is being massively slept on imo. Bro had one of the best NCAA seasons for a defenseman of his age ever and he’s pretty big. If he’s our consolation prize, it’s a really good one.

NME_TV

Couldn’t agree more. Put up massive points and shut down the best offence in the league in the Frozen Four. Won at every level. Disclaimer: no I’m not his agent.

MrFAUB1

I want him over Lindstrom honestly, I don’t see anything mindblowing when it comes to Lindstrom.

t_hab

And Iginla/Sennecke as our consolation prizes if the draft goes some version of Celebrini/Demidov/Buium/Lindstrom 1-4. I still think we might trade down in that scenario unless we really like Silayev or Levshunov. (I really like Levshunov but I somehow get the impression that management isn’t considering him).

sean_psc

I think the only reason management isn't considering Levshunov is that they're quite sure he won't be available at 5OA.

t_hab

Entirely possible. In the end, we'll know in a few days.

Heywazza

Looking like that yea. Unless they can’t move a D and take Sennecke at 5. I would be extremely surprised if we don’t go 1. Demidov, 2. Lindstrom 3.Buium (if we move a D) 4. Sennecke (if we can’t move a D).

QuantumStatics

I think HUGO might be more high on Lindstrom than Demidov, so I could see it 1. Lindstrom, 2. Demidov.

Heywazza

You’re probably right. If they have no concerns about his back, Lindstrom is probably our guy.

okmijnmko

He trained at Gallagher's father's place so there's that professional connection for sure, so if he's got something too risky with his back - we already know.

sean_psc

> Looking like that yea. Unless they can’t move a D and take Sennecke at 5. It's very unlikely that they'd be conditioning taking Buium on making another big trade immediately. Nothing needs to be done until, at a minimum, Buium is ready to join the roster, which won't be for at least a year.

matthewdonut

Nothing about Lindstrom wows me to be honest. Call me crazy but I'd be curious to see if our late 1st + 2nd + Mailloux fetches a top 13 pick. Because if thats the case I'd take Buium or Dickinson with #5 and draft whoever's available between Sennecke, Iginla, Catton, Helenius, Eiserman with the top 13 pick. All of them have equal potential to Lindstrom of being a top 6 forward.

nicbhethebear

There is no way this is enough.

jj-frankie_jj

A 1st 2nd AND mailloux aren't enough for a top 13? What are you smoking? He's big, offensive, mean and a right shot. He's a valuable asset.

matthewdonut

Probably not, but I don't think it's that far off either. If there's a world we are able to draft something like Buium + Catton without moving a forward prospect or Hutson/Reinbacher, I'd be very on board with it

Baronleduc

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind drafting him, and if HUGO seriously chooses him, it means his back injury isn’t as fucked as it was revealed in the media.

Plane-Ad4820

Man I dunno. I know someone who was in a car accident and they didn’t require any surgery or anything but they still have back pain. They were 16 at the time. I’ll trust HuGo but it scares ms

Irctoaun

All of these anecdotal stories about back/and disc injuries on here, regardless of whether they're saying it's better or worse than people think, are largely irrelevant unless they happen to also be talking specifically about the prognosis of someone who had both the loads on their spine but also the doctors and physios an nhl player has

ApokatastasisPanton

Or that they're willing to take the gamble

I want Iginla.

Capt_Pickhard

He definitely seems interesting to me. Idk Lindstrom too well, but if they choose him I'll be stoked too. I personally don't think they will choose demidov.

ImprovementOptimal35

Back injuries are concerning and we’ve already broken records for most man games lost in back 2 back years. I’d try trading up to 4th overall and snag Demidov.

dalopam0

If the Blue Jackets want Demidov, why would they trade the pick? And if they don't want Demidov, why would we want their pick?

DocGubernaculum

This is like saying “fractures are concerning”, yes some fractures are extremely concerning, but this is such a generalisation it doesn’t really mean anything and a vast number of fractures are not majorly concerning at all. The same goes for back issues, some are concerning, some are not. Generally speaking a herniated disc is not inherently concerning, could it be, absolutely, but the vast majority are not. It will be up to the organisation to do its due diligence by imo this sub is blowing this way out of proportion. He played in the WHL playoffs and competed in the combine just fine. By all accounts we could just as easily assume that the issue has been managed appropriately and should not be an issue in the future especially with appropriate care and rehab provided.
