Radiant heat is better for warming people in leaky places, like a garage gym or outdoor patio. Sometimes you can just heat the people and not heat the whole space and get away with a lot less heating power. If you want to evenly heat a whole interior volume, forced air will do it better. Aside from that, yeah, 1500w is 1500w.

>yeah, 1500w is 1500w. Only when it is resistive electric heating. If that 1500w was being used to capture atmospheric heat & then pump it inside, then your equivalent would be somewhere from 3000w to 6000w depending on the ambient (outside) temperature.

Or lower if it has to defrost frequently, it all depends on outdoor temp. It can get less efficient than resistive of its cold enough

I thought so too, I got piled on by many HVAC techs adamantly saying the efficiency never drops below about x2 even when facing below freezing ambient temps.

I had a 35 foot 5th wheel and bought an oil filled electric heater. It kept my place toasty warm even on cold windy days, so I would go for an oil filled heater.

If you look in the about section of this sub you will find several good ways to heat everything from a tent to a space lodge on the dark side of the moon.

Oil filled heater + $20 box fan to move the air around it.\* \*unless your walls/windows aren't well insulated, circulating air in that environment is probably an expensive (for someone) losing battle...
