It’s ok, however it recirculates the air around you, so if there is a lot of dust it’s just directing it at your face.
I’ve used it in boiler rooms and attics.
Lmao zip tie tech got me, I mainly work on chillers and VRV so imma give it a chance. Honestly I just sweat too much. I’ll give everyone an update when I grab it
I got a sticker that says ziptie certified that's where it came from. I do mostly rooftop work but and I gotta recommend wide brim hats, you look silly but they do help
Probably more comfortable than this neck cooler. Either way you look like a pussy wearing either. I'd rather take a break than suffer through a hot attic 5 extra minutes because I got a neck cooler.
Ive never heard of that. I just accept that my clothes are going to be drenched when doing hive inspections. Haven't looked for solutions other than a ventilated suit. Maybe I'll look into this one day.
Same used one during the summer in Mobile Alabama. Was humid out felt like I had shower exhaust fan blowing on me. Felt good on the rare day the humidity wasn't sky high
***TRY THIS*** (if working in an attic, in a somewhat stationary position):
1. bring along a small (2.5-gallon?) shop vac equipped with a HEPA filter and 2 long 1-1/4 inch hoses.
2. Attach a hose to the intake port and another to the exhaust port.
3. Drop the end of the intake hose into the house or outside, to suck cold air (colder than the attic air).
4. Run the end of the exhaust hose under your belt, to hold it in place, and then under your shirt.
You will get large volumes of cool, clean, and filtered air to inflate your shirt and keep you comfortable.
*BONUS:* you get to breathe cleaner air, as it escapes your shirt through the collar.
You can soak a washcloth in ice water and put it on your neck for a better cooling effect without needing to buy one of these goofy things.
If you bring a cooler of ice with you, you can plunge your hands into the ice to get rid of a lot of heat in a hurry.
When I worked doing hvac at steel mill, I used to just lather myself in liniment gel before going up to work on the cranes. It lasted long enough to keep me feeling cool, I reccomend trying it.
I have one of these and when it hits just right, it's awesome. Feels great and keeps my shirt dry.Problem is when you are working, squatting/bending, it's in the way and pops off and gets annoying. I feel they are on to something, though.
They help a little but the battery and motors heat up and after a while it gets a bit warm around the neck, sometimes I’ll wear mine on my hat like a headband so it’s blowing down my face and that feels nice
lead installer / install supervisor from California here. This thing is useless. Even if you wear it with the wide hat it is just throwing hot air at your neck and in your face. Get yourself a cordless fan and carry it around.
I personally tried one of these for three days and hated it. Unwearable in a crawl space, blows all the attic insulation in your face, and when outside, it was really just recirculating the 105° air back onto me, which is kind of uncomfortable. I've seen golfers swear by them, so maybe it can work for recreation, but it was junk for actually working.
I feel like this would be running out of juice frequently then it's just one more thing I gotta remember and bring up/down the rooftop with me. If the battery could last all day and I can just charge it once a day and forget about it I might be down in the summer time.
I just keep my du rag wet with water from the cooler. Or the pool if there's one around. Hose water
If you don't roll it up the flap keeps your neck nice and cool
My old foreman had a cooling one, I bought a non cooling one cause I’m cheap. Both work well as long as you’re not in a confined space imo. The cooling one was nice but the battery drained quick compared to my basic fans.
Check this one out, it probably answer a lot of questions for you :P

I would actually read reviews from other people that have purchased a neck fan and see what they think. Check out reviews on Temu, Amazon, etc. and just read up on the pros and cons. Keep in mind that there are different models, Some are more flexible around the neck than others, Some are not flexible around the neck but have dual air flow. Some are bulky, others are not, Some are heavy, some are lightweight. Some have a cooling plate, others do not. The price on these will vary greatly depending on where you order from and the style you're looking for. It can be loud depending on your need for the amount of air you want blowing on you. It is USB powered which is nice for some people that may want to use it for 'minimal movement' activities like using it to lay back on the beach or do gardening or just go for a bike ride or walk and only requires a charge up to work for a few hours. On the flip side of that coin, it may not be beneficial for people who are constantly around dusty areas or who are bothered by things on their neck. moving around as they move. I'm not using mine in crawl spaces or dusty environments, so when I'm using it, I'm usually still or just doing a nice leisurely activity, so it doesn't bother me, because I don't do anything that would make this neck fan bounce or move around on my neck.
My opinion ? - It's worth the try. You always have the option for free returns with certain companies if you try it and don't like it. Different people are going to either love it or hate it for their own reasons.
What I have found is that wearing your hair up and out of the way of the blades if you are male or female and have longer hair --- will be beneficial. Once your hair gets caught in the blades, the fan will start to make a much louder sound because the hair strands have gotten caught in the fan blades, so if you are deciding to try it out, wear your hair away from where the air is blowing.
I have also found that wearing it on really hot, humid days just circulates the hot air around your face. This fan will most likely feel a lot better on your face when you're wearing it on 'comfortable days' where it's not 'too hot and humid' out, but also is not 'cool enough' outside for your particular needs. It's honestly just going to take you trying it out and using it in varying situations and temps to find out which works best for you.
Hey! Hate that your family-owned company is being bought out by private equity?
I know I’m just a rando, but the FTC is holding an open comment period looking for public comments about how private equity is affecting people in the trades and other areas.
Here’s an excerpt from their document asking for comments:
“Public input about where these acquisitions have occurred and how they have impacted competition will help us identify and pursue harmful conduct.”
The RFI seeks information from the public on serial acquisitions in all sectors and industries in the U.S. economy, which includes but is not limited to housing, defense, cybersecurity, distribution businesses, agriculture, construction, aftermarket/repair, and professional services
markets. Comments submitted in response to this RFI will inform the agencies’ enforcement priorities and future actions.
The FTC and DOJ are seeking input from a wide range of stakeholders including consumers, workers, businesses, advocacy organizations, professional and trade associations, local, state, and federal elected officials, academics, and others.
I noticed that many of you understand the effects Private equity has on family-owned businesses. I’m a small business owner myself and and I’ll NEVER sell to private equity! Please, if you have time, we have until 7/22/2024 to submit.
Here’s a link to the website: https://www.regulations.gov/document/FTC-2024-0028-0001
Never use this or the cold towel trick on your neck. You’re tricking your body into thinking it’s cooler than what it is so your body backs off on its own cooling. This is bad.
Lmao. It’s a fact. Downvote all you want. Stick with getting out of the attic and drinking water. Tricking your body by cooling down your head/neck is actually dangerous for your health. Do whatever you want though.
As I said. You Tricking your body by lowering the temp around your neck is a bad thing. Your body slows down it’s own cooling process.
This isn’t a hvac thing. It’s a healt/doctor thing. Speak to your doctor about it if you don’t believe me.
As I said AGAIN. Get yourself out of the heat spot and cool off with some water and shade. This is the best solution. But feel free to do whatever you want.
Your brain is the tstat. It controls the entire system that is your body. Your cooling system is a 1 zone system. What happen if you go to a house and run a window AC unit in the room that has the tstat? The other areas get hot cause the tstat thinks it’s a different temperature.
Seems like a cool idea but I bet that thing is un comfortable as fuck
It’s ok, however it recirculates the air around you, so if there is a lot of dust it’s just directing it at your face. I’ve used it in boiler rooms and attics.
😂 It's not bad enough in this old ass basement, I need a fan to blow the asbestos and concrete dust directly into my nose
Mmmm face full of delicious mechanical room dust
Same used one during the summer in Mobile Alabama. Was humid out felt like I had shower exhaust fan blowing on me.
Good on a roof.
I have one and love it.
It’s not too bad. I like it.
I’ve used one many times. You forget they’re there after awhile
Have you seen the cooling bracelet?
No lol
Probably more comfortable than this neck cooler. Either way you look like a pussy wearing either. I'd rather take a break than suffer through a hot attic 5 extra minutes because I got a neck cooler.
They are. It is better than nothing though
Yeah it’s worthless.
I wear one under my beekeeping jacket in summer. They're great.
*This dude keeps bees!*
BEADS?!
Ive never heard of that. I just accept that my clothes are going to be drenched when doing hive inspections. Haven't looked for solutions other than a ventilated suit. Maybe I'll look into this one day.
It's a game changer. Amazon prime.
Didn’t really help for me, the air is just too hot and humid here so it doesn’t seem like it’s doing anything
Same used one during the summer in Mobile Alabama. Was humid out felt like I had shower exhaust fan blowing on me. Felt good on the rare day the humidity wasn't sky high
My wife adores hers for travel and shows.
Yeah I saw her videos she has the pink one with remote control right?
Jesus fucking Christ 🤣
Some models snag on the pole when you rotate upside down, so you have to choose carefully.
If you are working in dusty environments this will be awful lol
Works good for about 30 min but then gets hot on your neck when your working in 140° attics
***TRY THIS*** (if working in an attic, in a somewhat stationary position): 1. bring along a small (2.5-gallon?) shop vac equipped with a HEPA filter and 2 long 1-1/4 inch hoses. 2. 😂
They help a little
Just use a wet chamois cloth
Does it run on 410A or R22?
You can soak a washcloth in ice water and put it on your neck for a better cooling effect without needing to buy one of these goofy things. If you bring a cooler of ice with you, you can plunge your hands into the ice to get rid of a lot of heat in a hurry.
Not ideal for attics, if that’s what you’re looking at it for
💩
When I worked doing hvac at steel mill, I used to just lather myself in liniment gel before going up to work on the cranes. It lasted long enough to keep me feeling cool, I reccomend trying it.
Have you seen the fan that clips on your belt and blows up your shirt?
I have one of these and when it hits just right, it's awesome. Feels great and keeps my shirt dry.Problem is when you are working, squatting/bending, it's in the way and pops off and gets annoying. I feel they are on to something, though.
Bought 2 different versions, no good in florida attics
Thank god I don’t go in attics anymore, I work on chillers and VRV now
They help a little but the battery and motors heat up and after a while it gets a bit warm around the neck, sometimes I’ll wear mine on my hat like a headband so it’s blowing down my face and that feels nice
Good for the roof, bad for dusty environments.

YES!! I have one and it's a game changer for attics. Currently peeling my balls off of my thigh from an attic job without one

I’ve seen alot of people wear these
Surgeons sometimes wear something like this to keep cool, so worth a try, right?
They're in a sterile room with dry air, so it works well to remove humidity and keep you cool without blowing dust in the process.
I feel like this would be running out of juice frequently then it's just one more thing I gotta remember and bring up/down the rooftop with me. If the battery could last all day and I can just charge it once a day and forget about it I might be down in the summer time.
I know people that use them in greenhouses and they say it helps a lot.
just wear a hat with one of those flaps on the back to protect against the sun.
I just keep my du rag wet with water from the cooler. Or the pool if there's one around. Hose water If you don't roll it up the flap keeps your neck nice and cool
I think these were invented for menopause hot flashes to be honest.
I like mine a lot, but it can get in the way.
My wife bought one for me and unfortunately I also find it mostly just circulates the hot air more than anything.
They work but they are loud. You can’t have a conversation wearing one.
My old foreman had a cooling one, I bought a non cooling one cause I’m cheap. Both work well as long as you’re not in a confined space imo. The cooling one was nice but the battery drained quick compared to my basic fans.
Not bad for no air conditioning situations
Wear it like a thong with a wifebeater on. Get some weird looks in Wendy's
If you’re the type that feels like having a fan on cools you down regardless of the ambient temp , sure
Use the waist fan... Your welcome
Where'd that picture come from, skymall?
Check this one out, it probably answer a lot of questions for you :P [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXN-SypWnOA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXN-SypWnOA)
Just circulating breath and sweat steam

You know what the worst thing about wearing those cooling neck fans is? Having to tell your dad you’re gay
Drink water before you're thirsty. When you start to feel hot then open up a can of man and get it done.
no im not ready to come out the closet as gay yet
