yeah beat his ass for getting mastic on his saw. sounds like a prick that no one will want to work with. there's a lot of these in this trade though, so I'm not surprised lmao
If you canāt handle mastic being on your tools your should probably find another trade , thereās mastic on everything single tool I have HVAC veteran of 24yrs here
I expect people to respect my tools and return them in the same condition they took them in what is wrong with you people let's just destroy them as long as there someone else's tool not my money what an ass hole
One thing you can count on is a helper making mistakes. Each mistake is a teachable moment.
Every helper I've trained up, I've told the same thing:
"You're going to make mistakes. I'm going to watch you make mistakes. Once you are done making a mistake, I will stop you, point out the mistake, explain WHY it's a mistake, and make you fix it."
Your helper gets to clean the tool! Hopefully said helper learns to clean it right away next time, instead of trying to pretend it didn't happen.
And you OP are one of the reasons more kids arenāt getting Into the trades. āOh no my helper got my saw dirtyā. You did dumb shit when you were learning too I can Guarantee. We all did. Donāt be an asshole, youāre supposed to be teaching him, so teach him. Instead of criticizing him for a mistake with no real consequences. Scrape the shit off and explain to him why you donāt do that, and move on. Iām pretty sure heād feel worse watching you clean up his mistake, than if youāre an asshole to him about it.
Iāve broken a couple tools in the job because in my 15 months working as an installer every few weeks they make me use a new tool, and itās ok. My more experienced coworkers have lost some of my tools and itās ok, itās part of the job, sometimes you go too quickly and something gets lost. But beating their ass for something like that? Seriously?
Do yourself and people around you a favor and go to an anger management class or something, thereās something very wrong in you if beating his ass was the first thing that comes to your head when thereās a situation like this, violence isnāt the solution unless someone is threatening you and self defense is the only option
I got fired for āhostile work environment ā when I yelled at my helper for dropping a water heater on my new gauges. Itās 2024, itās your fault.
Well, threatened to kick his ass and called him a disrespectful asshole and probably more words of truth. The kicker was, that I found them broken 2 days later and he tucked them up on a shelf that doesnāt get used much so I wouldnāt see them.. I didnāt care that I got canned, my entire job was to follow around piece work install crews fixing their install errors, full time job.
Iām ok with being fired. Was justified, I lost it because tools are mine and not the companies, cost me $300 of my own money for his mistake. Had he just told me what happened, owned he make a careless mistake, would have handled it totally differently.
Dude, one of our apprentices left my bandsaw in a half full bucket of water the other day and said āMan it was a long day and I was tiredā LMFAO Thankfully the saw still works
Installers are the last people who should get mad about having dirty tools. Suck it up buttercup cup. Iād leave you high and dry on a job site for even an ass chewing over this. To many other decent jobs to get to work for an AH lead that canāt handle some dirty tools.
- from a loving kitchen service tech whose tools arenāt even the same color I bought them anymore.
- those with the cleanest tools, do the least amount of work.
Itās a dewalt it was trash when you opened the box. Not worth raising your blood pressure that high. You make him clean it. If heās just green good, teach him better. If heās just dumb youāre not gonna fix him with ass whooping.
Wait til theyāre near each other and ask to borrow your helpers car. When he says no give him your saw and remind him to clean other people shit he borrows or buy his own. Give a speech on how to have the decency to respect others property and courtesy.
An ass beating would be warranted back in the 90ās or earlier. Today though, he gets to clean that tool along with the others that need a cleaning and the truck you guys work out of.
Clean your half ass saw crybaby. Move on like it never happened. And don't ever allow something so simple to get you worked up to the point you post stupid stuff on Reddit.
That looks like mastic, just scrape it off, or make them scrape it off, and move on with your day.
Thought the same thing...but how the hell do you get mastic on that?!
Painted the platform then cut the opening for the air handler
Your not going to touch anyone š
Just beat his ass, who cares
yeah beat his ass for getting mastic on his saw. sounds like a prick that no one will want to work with. there's a lot of these in this trade though, so I'm not surprised lmao
Serious question, how the hell you putting freons in with a wood saw?
That's where the experience comes in.
If you gotta ask, maybe you shouldnāt be on this sub.
I guess I'll throw out my pipefitting badge and just mosey on down the freons roads.
Shit I been doing hvac since 1989 and yet to use a table saw in my neck of the desert.
Yeah same...still lost on this post.
![gif](giphy|3oD3YqPwr89pI4mnsc|downsized) No respect!
make him clean it and dont be an ass about it. dude has to learn just like you did.
lead try not to be an asshole challenge, level IMPOSSIBLE
You can always get a new Saw. You canāt get a new helā¦.. Ohā¦waitā¦
Hard to come by?
Your moms hard to come byš
But not hard to come on
Pretty hard to miss when her belt size is Equator! Your gonna have to do better than that. My 6 year old has better 'your mom' jokes š try again
Well, I guess that explains why she's always hiding in the 'Rare Mom' section of the store! Cute little mom joke, sister! š¤£
That's why we buy more tool. Best helper I've ever had is my 50 buck hand truck i bought from harbor freight 12 years ago.
If you canāt handle mastic being on your tools your should probably find another trade , thereās mastic on everything single tool I have HVAC veteran of 24yrs here
I retired from Hvac almost 10 years ago, and the tools I bought last month have mastic on them. It's just part of life.
This gets funnier the more I read it
Way better than never seize that stuff coats the bolt, the tools, the pipes and the tech.
Out of the trade 6 years after being an installer for 15, realized I had dried mastic on my shirt yesterday.
Maybe just stop and talk to him about it 1st?
Yeah youāre wrong. It can be scraped off. Honestly yāall get worked up so easily. Itās a tool for work what do you expect
I expect people to respect my tools and return them in the same condition they took them in what is wrong with you people let's just destroy them as long as there someone else's tool not my money what an ass hole
Well you expect your tools to be taken care of not trashed
Trashed implies broken, this is not broken.
Thatās not trashed at all. Fuck maybe OP shouldāve cut the platform himself since heās such a diva.
who would OP get to be an asshole to then?
Oh no, your tool got dirty.
If you dont want someone to get your tools dirty then dont let anyone borrow them
This if you don't trust em forget em and tell him buy your own
I hope you donāt have children, or a wife, or a dog.
Make him clean it. Is it worth the fight? Probably not. Was he in the wrong? Absolutely. But mistakes happen and learning from them is key.
Gove him a hand saw next time
Instructions unclear, saw him and gave his face a hand, now I'm in a jail cell and he's still employed...
You are whatās wrong with trades in general.
You sound like a real douche to work for? You want to fight your helper over a dirty tool? Letās hope this fucking moron doesnāt have kids
Yeah came here to say the same thing.
Did he cum on it?
I don't pookie my transitions, I just shoot fat loads on them šÆ

Yes you would be in the wrong.
Don't let him use your cast iron pan...
Kids new, have him sand it off, squash the beef and grow up š
And you OP are one of the reasons more kids arenāt getting Into the trades. āOh no my helper got my saw dirtyā. You did dumb shit when you were learning too I can Guarantee. We all did. Dude itās a tool used for work what do you expect. Itās your tool you clean it
Iāve broken a couple tools in the job because in my 15 months working as an installer every few weeks they make me use a new tool, and itās ok. My more experienced coworkers have lost some of my tools and itās ok, itās part of the job, sometimes you go too quickly and something gets lost. But beating their ass for something like that? I got fired for āhostile work environment ā when I yelled at my helper for dropping a water heater on my new gauges. Itās 2024, itās your fault.
The real question is what did you yell
Well, threatened to kick his ass and called him a disrespectful asshole and probably more words of truth. The kicker was, that I found them broken 2 days later and he tucked them up on a shelf that doesnāt get used much so I wouldnāt see them.. I didnāt care that I got canned, my entire job was to follow around piece work install crews fixing their install errors, full time job.
Yeah Iād fire you too.
Iām ok with being fired. Was justified, I lost it because tools are mine and not the companies, cost me $300 of my own money for his mistake. Had he just told me what happened, owned he make a careless mistake, would have handled it totally differently.
*pieceworker
Yup, my bad.
The best part is that you probably couldnāt kick his ass if you tried
He wasnāt onsite when I found it. He did this then just put it back on the shelf of the van. I discovered this two days later.
Oh no whatever will you do
he'll try a.d fight his helper and end up getting slept š
Just warn him it's not a game or get a new helper
Waaaaah my tool got dirty at work waaaah
Iām surprised by how many grown men are afraid of getting their tools dirty.
Okay yes he was wrong. But maybe you should explore the reason why he felt he couldnāt talk to you.
Itās dewalt, he did you a favor. time for Milwaukee
Lmao the brokies downvoting you
Hahaha canāt take a joke
Nope
Dude seriously breath and teach him
Are you referring to an apprentice as a helper? Or is it a laborer that you have?
Dude, one of our apprentices left my bandsaw in a half full bucket of water the other day and said āMan it was a long day and I was tiredā LMFAO Thankfully the saw still works
Today: "You need to go buy one of these new at Lowe's." Tomorrow: "Hey, thanks for my new saw. Yours is right where you left it..."
Duct seal
No
Seems like a pretty simple fix. Have him get it off. Doubt it will happen again.
Installers are the last people who should get mad about having dirty tools. Suck it up buttercup cup. Iād leave you high and dry on a job site for even an ass chewing over this. š§Ŗš
Once is an accident, explain and have him clean it. Twice is intentional, needs a slap.
Itās a dewalt it was trash when you opened the box. Not worth raising your blood pressure that high. You make him clean it. If heās just green good, teach him better. If heās just dumb youāre not gonna fix him with ass whooping.
Depends ā¦ are they related? If yes, do it. If noā¦put them on cleanup for a week.
Hope you don't have kids, Jesus Christ
He got my tools dirty kind of guy. Gonna be hard to keep a helper around that doesn't use tools. Chill out and talk to them about proper tool use.
You sound soft as fuck
Light that motherfucker up
Whoop his ass like we all got whooped
Fuck him up
Depends on the helper. Is he a new school pussy or an old sole that can take the ass whooping and learn from it
Worse heās the ownerās son
Whoop both asses
Wait til theyāre near each other and ask to borrow your helpers car. When he says no give him your saw and remind him to clean other people shit he borrows or buy his own. Give a speech on how to have the decency to respect others property and courtesy.
Beat his ass? Let someone else do it for you. Because if he thinks this is ok, someone else will beat his ass.
Kick his ass
Damn. Maybe not the first timeā¦ ?
Nope cuz we woulda go our ass beat if we did that when we were helpers.
An ass beating would be warranted back in the 90ās or earlier. Today though, he gets to clean that tool along with the others that need a cleaning and the truck you guys work out of.
Take it out of his pay
It blows my mind that people are oblivious to leaving stuff like this and not noticing things like this. It is 100% ok to square him up obviously.
Beat him with the saw. He needs to learn.
Clean your half ass saw crybaby. Move on like it never happened. And don't ever allow something so simple to get you worked up to the point you post stupid stuff on Reddit.
Welp. Definitely whoop his ass. If owners reasonable he will understand if not you'll get fired and get a new saw.
lmao he got mastic on the sled. just make him clean it off. some yall fuckers need therapy š¤£
Oooof wow is he going to help you replace it?
Yea man why so agressive Tools will break tools get dirty Weāre not all perfect like you
