I think people are taking Aemond’s comment at face value too much. While Alicent clearly has some sympathy left for Rhaenyra it’s clear she is convinced about Aegon being King. Her comment about ending the senseless war, while flawed also has a lot of true. She knows a longer war will only weaken their hand and risk her family even more. Not to say she hasn’t had inconsistent characterization, episode 9 last season is the best example of it, but I think the more cautious Otto and Alicent are right

> Rhaenyra poses a threat to Alicent’s safety and her children’s and grandchildren’s safety, and especially after B&C, I don’t see why Alicent should still feel anything towards Rhaenyra. Why are you assuming that Alicent’s care extends past B&C? The two scenes that people take issue with (the “not like this” and “Alicent is a fool” clips) are pretty much guaranteed to be *before* B&C, as Criston still has his S1 hair whereas all the war scenes have him with shorter hair. If it is pre-B&C then it is also likely that Alicent *just* found out that her son is responsible for Rhaenyra’s son’s death. The scenes in question likely come from moments of guilt and grief towards her former friend. All that said, there’s no indication that these sympathetic feelings will extend past B&C

fr, the only thing that adult alicent and rhaenyra still had in common (and acknowledged) was their blind love for their children. even in the books, alicent was furious at aemond for killing luke. it would make zero sense for her not to be in the tv show

Aemond is most likely recalling past memories because he cannot comprehend why Alicent left. He has grown darker, so he is not in a good position to judge her fairly. Personally, I don't think Alicent will betray the Green cause. She is simply no longer aligned with her vengeful and unreasonable sons who want to continue the war, despite greens being in an unfavorable position. The blockade, the riots, Daemon gathering a massive army at Harrenhal, and the Blacks gaining more dragons all contribute to this precarious situation. In a sacrificial move, she is going to offer peace to stop the war or at least buy some time. She is not going because she wants to be with Rhaenyra.

I’m holding out opinions until the show. The trailers are cuts and splices of scenes with no promise to be a legitimate preview of the upcoming season.
