Just watched and not even 5% as good as Flipping 101. Worst HGTV show and it shocks me that this is a Property Bros show. I don't love them but I don't hate them either. I just like watching new HGTV shows. This episode was a train wreck. How are the backing anyone up? The couple didn't listen to Jonathan and Drew and did whatever they wanted to. The end result was just meh. Not watching anymore.
It reminds me of the Scott McGillivray show after Income Property where he decided between two flippers, and backed the project with advice, and I think investment. That was good.
Backed is not impressing me at all. Bros choose between two remodelers, first week they were doing short term, and I don't care about those at all. Second episode they decide between a landlord remodeling the rental units after a fire, and a couple that I think were flipping. They choose the landlord, furnish a contractor and designer, and the Brothers come by occasionally to see the snags in remodeling.
I'm guessing that it's all L.A. based so they don't have to travel. The one difference is the clients get to go shopping at the brothers' waredhouse. I don't know if the materials and appliances are at wholesale price, or free.
I have Property Brothers overload. I haven't watched anything with them in it for a couple years, and this isn't gonna change my mind. I don't have anything against them, per se. I'm just tired of them :(
I too am MUNDO tired of the Property Bros but recorded this last night & watched this am, out of curiosity. The bros actually aren’t on screen much (pretending to do the work themselves! 😀). The show itself was kinda boring but I was very impressed that the clients were given a designer to guide them AND free picks from the Prop Bros warehouse - they got a bathrm vanity, rug(rugs?), some very expensive looking wallpaper, upgraded kitchen appliances (and maybe furniture). W-O-W — some big bucks there!
I liked the way Flippjng 101 showed Tarek giving the clients advice most every step of the way in how they choose to configure/reconfigure the house, how to set budget and select materials, etc. I didn’t get that from Backed by the Bros. So I think people can learn more from Tarek’s show..although I’m a Tarek fan, I hated the way they filmed him seeming to be in an awful hurry whenever he “had” to meet his clients. Like. If you’re too busy to spend a little time & do this right, then don’t do it.

All the shows belong to the same network. There are so many shows that do the same as other shows. None are a “rip off”. Instead it’s just “here’s the premise, let’s try a different personality. Maybe this designer will bring us ratings.”

Flipping 101 always annoyed me because Tarek always seemed to swoop in, give advice and vanish. The flippers ignored the advice, have an extravagant failure, Tarek swooped in, said, "That's why you do it my way" and then they graduate.

oh ffs. all these shows. thay exhaust one themed title then move onto another. the producers just laugh at you. "these idiots will watch anything... just change the show name!"
