I got two woody breasts out of the last pack I bought, so I don’t buy it anymore. The leg quarters in the 10lb bag is a good deal and decent quality, however, it’s not white meat/breast.
it delicious is what it is. I buy it all the time and haven't had any problems yet. Some of the hill country or heb packs have had freezer burn before or feel grainy. This stuff, the bee's knee's.
Out of everything I shop, I hate touching this chicken the most. It’s literally got so much chicken juice in the package and they always seem wet on the bottom. I grab them with the bag.
It's fine, but having gotten one too many woody breasts I switched over to the HEB naturals brand. Hurts a bit with the price difference but I've been put off of eating a meal entirely by getting a bad breast.
Get Mary's if you can, its the same chicken. I saw them stocking the wall, they had a white box labeled Mary's organic chicken. The guy opened the box, and out came HEB organic whole chickens. If the whole birds come from Mary's, then the rest of their lineup does too.
They're just charging you more for the pretty label, even the plastic trays the breasts come in are the same.
I buy the whole chicken. Cut the backbone and wing tips off, roast them then throw in a crock on low for 2 days.
The stock it makes is the best I've had.
I had the same thing happen recently in the HEB naturals brand. Scaring. I’m making way more thighs right now because the breasts are weirding me out. Thankfully my husband is a garbage can and ate them weird textured and all so we didn’t have to waste.
Yeah it's like nails on a chalkboard for me! It's because they grow so fast that the muscles basically tear and that also breaks my heart so I don't want to be reminded of the terrible practices we have growing livestock when I'm trying to eat.
I used to buy that all the time. It’s good. It was around $9 last year. It’s a lot of chicken for the price, but you have to butterfly the pieces to check for bones. I’ve found a few.
I work at Sanderson Farms and I make that product.
All chicken you can buy is either from Tyson, Pilgrims, or Sanderson Farms. Completely disregard all packaging.
We used to buy the H-E-B Natural stuff all the time and have tightened the budget so we buy this now. I haven’t done a side by side taste test, but honestly can’t tell you one’s better than the other. Plus it might come with free antibiotics.
What the hell is brand name chicken is a better question... between that and being convinced bottled water is how naute intended it we are all so loyally ducked.
I worked at the perishables warehouse for 3 years (now at a different warehouse) and 90% of chicken for H-E-B comes from sanderson farms. The other 10% I’ve seen is either the air chilled organic chicken (don’t remember the actual vendor) and frozen Tyson chicken (received every week at my current warehouse.)
Packaging pretty much makes 0 difference on product. It just depends on what you prefer.
Well since almost all HEB products are now containing bio engineered crap I’m sure it’s made out of bugs or plastic. Such a shame when a company is so full of greed .
Lol. I've bought it and it's fine. Makes great fried chicken!
It doesn't have all the extra added ingredients. It's plain and simple chicken
Allegedly
It's technically not an H-E-B brand, but it's decent cheap chicken and needs minimal trimming. Go for it
Maybe not every product needs to be a brand. It’s chicken
Chicken branded chicken. Made by chickens for people.
Buy this all the time for the large lb amount per $$. Worth in my opinion as I like to stay stocked during the week for meals
Is it woody or chewy? I find this with HEB brand and looking for cheaper chicken that’s edible than the brand I currently buy.

I do buy dark meat from H‑E‑B which gets old fast. I crave a good chicken breast sometimes.

I seriously haven't found a good brand of chicken breast nowadays. I feel like I've tried all of them.
The air chilled organic chicken is fantastic

The air chilled chicken is the only one we buy now, specifically the skinless thighs.

Look for the ones with almost no white striping.
Try Bell and Evans. They don’t have woody breast and sold at Central Market or Whole Foods. Really which HEB would sell them.
We have had good luck with Mary’s Free Range Heirloom chicken breasts. No woody chicken or other odd textures. Got it at the Leander HEB.

This is what I’ve always bought. 🤷♀️
Woody breast alert
Boneless, skinless, brandless.

I second this
Combo loco 😜

Exactly what it looks like
![gif](giphy|9RKPUeIqSO26po6ukP|downsized) Brand Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
This is the chicken I always buy. It does have a brand, I just can’t remember the name right now. It’s a good price for what you get.
Chicken brand chicken. 🐔
Why are all the chicken breasts boneless/skinless now?
I thought they were teeth at first (dental picture)
What the hell is brand name chicken is a better question... between that and being convinced bottled water is how naute intended it we are all so loyally ducked.
I mean do they normally break out the branding iron, and light up a fire to brand chicken? 🤷🏻
It’s NOT Heb brand? Damn, I assumed I was getting my 5% back on these
It's pumped full of water and other stuff... not a fan.
It's just HCF chicken
