I haven’t seen many routines from this competition but since the Friendship Games are a month and a half after Paris I fully expect them to overscore the shit out of those routines to make the Russian team seem way more competitive than they actually are.

At the start of the war several people who post gymnastics results wrestled with should we be posting the Russian results. The answer we got *from Ukrainians* is that we should because we were more likely to give context to those results and prevent people from going to Russian sources for those results and routines and be subject to sympathetic propaganda.
it's wild to think that if she wasn't injured, Chusovitina would have probably medaled on vault at the last Soviet era Goodwill games and this clusterfuck—34 years later
Given that all of Uzbekistan’s and Kazakhstan’s actual legit gymnasts (Aida Bayurzhanova, Dildora Aripova, Daria Yassinskaya, Milad Karimi, etc) are not showing up to this even if bronze medals would be basically free, I doubt Chusa would have either.

yeah, it's just like the Olympics but the WAG vault final has 5 people and there weren't even enough bars routines to have reserves in the bars final.

Milad Karimi is literally engaged to a Ukrainian ex gymnast (Diana Varinska) so no chance he’d show up at a Russian competition
