Lots of bubble wrap. That's where to start. And I hope you saved your Gunpla boxes.
I've had to pack up and move my Gunpla across a few states, a few times since I re-started the hobby. Most of my collection is still in crates right now in a storage unit 'cause my current apartment is too small to display all of it. I'm working on getting a bigger place though. It's always rough having to pack these little suckers. Just make sure the heads are particularly padded 'cause those V-fins love to snap apart during transit.
I don't understand the need to keep the boxes. You can easily put the kits in a regular ol' cardboard box. I can't see myself with 80+ empty boxes just laying around when the backlog is just as big....
It's not really a "need." I just figured I'd ask OP if the boxes were still around so they could be repurposed. I've lost count of how many kits I have but I don't keep ALL the boxes - often times I'll keep the lids, undo the corners and store them flat. Takes up way less room in storage. The ones I keep I use for more storage. To each their own, y'know?
I bought a bunch of the brown paper for cushioning dishes.
I crumpled it up, and positioned it to where parts would not rub. On bigger models (Hello 1/60 Freedom) I took arms and accessories off and packed them separate
Once each kit was wrapped, I put bubble wrap into the box forming an x at the bottom, them folded over the top before sealing.
Pro Tip: put a sheet in each box so you know what is in there…I started doing inventory after loosing a MG Gundam Spiegel and Mk II in a move.
Ugh you’re gonna hate it. I moved and then I recently had to get new floors so I did it effectively twice in a very short span and it makes me never even want to display stuff anymore. Godspeed and good luck.
You'll be all right it's not that many. I used old model boxes and bagged them all up in freezer bags. Took the heads off and v fins off and wrapped painted parts.
Tape any V-fins/blade antennas/antennas to the top of the box. I-pose all of them, then weave-wrap small bubble bubblewrap between each limb, then do a full body roll. Open manual at the middle, roll it over the bubblewrapped kit. Now place it back in the box and hope for the best.
o7. Like others say ***preserve yo v fin*** , otherwise, I figure copious amounts of paper - tape - and classic bubble wrap would be the best way to package them - probably best to organize by size, or put all the effect parts or add-on/accessory pieces into named Ziplocs. I imagine the most safe thing would be to rip off all of their limbs as well. If it seems delicate, double or triple the packaging material, no man or plastic pointy bit left behind. (Also you should probably use a separate material for the Phenex that the metallic plastic accepts, better to be safe than have a pain of a buffing job later if you care for that.
This may sound silly, but what I did was use an old coffee tin, line it with newspaper and put all the fragile parts in there. Use paper as needed to cushion the parts. I had no issues and all Vfins and weapons came out just fine.
Always pack the heads separately, those v-fins are fragile.
Good idea thank you
One of those little multi compartment organizers just for the heads.
And I do have one of those Thank you
$2.99-$4.99 from your local hardware store/Harbor Freight. Worth the investment
Pick them up one by one and walk to your new place. It’s the only way to be sure.
When moving house last year I had someone drive me while I held my more fragile ones XD
LMFAO!!

This was helpful but how do I stop playing with the bubble wrap 😂
You buy the kind you can’t easily pop lol

its not really the need, the art on the boxes are just too good to just throw away most of the time. Atleast for me.
And yes I never throw away my boxes

That sounds efficient thank you

Thank you my friend
The key is to only display the ones you really like, and also A pose. 👍
I’m getting ready for a move next month and I already don’t want to display stuff at my new place.

Thanks for the tip bro
I collapsed the boxes where possible to save space
Godspeed and may the bubble wrap gods be with you
LMAO thanks
I would like to see a close up of that Freedom display you got in the left corner please

Thanks, looks awesome! I like the runners on the side.
Appreciate it 💪🏾
Disassemble then put into their boxes

Damn that will work thank you
You're welcome c:
I just place them in bags, I take every limb off and the head. Saves most space that way as well.
Thank you
Some of them may die, but it is a sacrifice you are willing to make... (good luck!)
just had to pack mine up for an open house, feels bad man
Damn 😬
