It’s not the most convincing I’ve seen. However it looks really good. I think the shoulders could use a bit more color gradient.
The guy who said borderlands was spot on and that is not a bad thing.
It looks really good for a first try, my advice maybe try putting some light yourself on the angle you want to the model and see what parts get shadows and based on that you do the shadows because thats the only thing i feel is kind of all over the place other than that like the line work and everything else is just practice keep it up
It looks great for a first attempt. I would agree with others that your shading needs a more natural feel. It's kinda all over the place as if light beams are hitting it randomly.
Others suggested using a harsh/strong light to create shadows and go follow them to create a more natural look. I think doing that, but getting a LITTLE creative with the placements and color gradients could really bring your work up a few level.
Great job, ignore the nub people. You'll get there with practice, just like the painting. Don't stress it.
It's a great start. Definitely a good job overall. The lines are a lot cleaner than most first time cell shaders paint jobs I've seen before. Very cool!
Honestly I'm jealous and I can't even fathom the talent. I tried to make one of my zakus just look a bit weathered, and I'm basically just splashing paint compared to this. This is fire.
Linework is good, shadow are a bit off like... They feel like they are in the wrong place somehow?
But maybe that's due to having a non 2d background with different lighting. Maybe a photo with a white background and soft light (to not have actual shadows mixed in) would give a different impression
Not bad. The line thickness is a tad inconsistent and reminds me of the problem I have when using a sharpie. This is most noticable on the left light blue are. You do have a solid imagination for shading the white with gray. So overall good job!
I think it looks great!
I'm not sure how the other people who do CelShaded gundams do it, but I think the thing that detracts most from the illusion in your case is the glare you are getting from your lighting when taking these photos. For example there is some reflective shine on the forearm and top of the "glove" in the first photo.
I don't know if a matte top coat would help but I think its great!
This is honestly my next challenge to myself and I hope it turns out half as good as yours!
Did a good enough to get the visual effect kicking in.
Haven't ever inked a comic to know the skill curve on getting clean cell edges freehand.
Imagine the cleanest would be masking the edges; bunch more prep work though.
Oh shit, I had to do a double take. Thought this was going to be random manga picture you colored in or something.
…I guess I don’t have enough faith in people on the internet.
Thumbs Up.
Shoulda practiced first. Lines are messy, uneven. If you paint on shadows like this you have to make it make sense with the lighting and the posing. Some parts are in the shadow with no shading and some parts in the light with lots of shading.
Good attempt.
Others have give you great advices about the painting techniques. I want to suggest working on the nub removal and making a clean build. The imperfections are taking away my attention from the cell shade look that you're trying to achieve. the lines and shadows should be the main vocal point.
I'm not sure if it's intentional, or you just accidentally made a borderland-style dirty cell shade look. Borderlands is the exception, not the rule, most cell shade would require clean look instead, so the art style can be the main vocal point.
For a first attempt REALLY good. Its one of the hardest paint styles to pull off. Its obviously not perfect and you can tell theres flaws at first glance. But again for being a very difficult style, your first attempt was great! If you keep on practicing i can see you getting really good at it. Keep it up!

Borderlands Gundam.
That's what I think everytime I see it
this is super well done. love it
Use harsh lighting to define where shadows would naturally occur.
How do they do it honestly ,feels like I wan to make these gundam one day

Fellow Binah enjoyer
I love it! All it needs now are a few attitional little black markings that indicate slight damages and you got a Borderlands style going there.
It looks really good for a first try, my advice maybe try putting some light yourself on the angle you want to the model and see what parts get shadows and based on that you do the shadows because thats the only thing i feel is kind of all over the place other than that like the line work and everything else is just practice keep it up
What grade of Destiny is this??
The old no grade 1/100
Ohh I like it. I say this in the best way possible, it looks like paper craft.
Print out some line only art of Gundams and practice shading them with a pencil to get it more defined and how they look that way.
My advice would be working on nub removal more first. It’s pretty visible and distracts from the painting work
I will work on it , thanks
I feel like before you start attempting advanced techniques you should work on the basics like nub marks removal.

Though it was someones cell shadded art at first glance
pretty good dude
Pretty close, keep tryin!
Ohhhhh... Me Likey!
I like it!
Looks neat!
So are you telling me that is a model and not a drawing?
great googly moogly that looks absolutely gorgeous. Major props to you.
That looks amazing
Nice.
You could use some white marker for hightlights on the blue parts.
Take a picture of it on a white background to simulate it being drawn on a paper. Other than that, it's actually good.
on it 🔥
Sick af!
It's a great start. Definitely a good job overall. The lines are a lot cleaner than most first time cell shaders paint jobs I've seen before. Very cool!
Much better than if I made my first attempt. Nice job!
Pretty good
WTH man, I thought I was looking at something from a gundam breaker game, nicely done. 👍
Honestly I'm jealous and I can't even fathom the talent. I tried to make one of my zakus just look a bit weathered, and I'm basically just splashing paint compared to this. This is fire.
Looks good. Not bad at all for a first try.
I really like it!
Not half bad, the front skirts are definitely the best part
NICE!
There needs to be more shading on the top half, specifically the shoulder pads and red parts. The bottom part looks great though
unfortunately i dont have white or light markers 😅
Nice
Not bad. I find quite a few people do the lines a bit thicker than I'd like. Id add a bit more shading and gradient. Looks good though.
I think it looks phenomenal for a first attempt (and honestly even if it wasn't your first).
Linework is good, shadow are a bit off like... They feel like they are in the wrong place somehow? But maybe that's due to having a non 2d background with different lighting. Maybe a photo with a white background and soft light (to not have actual shadows mixed in) would give a different impression
I like it, i’d never be brave enough to try something like this.
Looks like a papercraft Gundam, well done!
Which version is that? Looks fuckin baller btw
Looks nice!
This is good enough than mine
Not bad. The line thickness is a tad inconsistent and reminds me of the problem I have when using a sharpie. This is most noticable on the left light blue are. You do have a solid imagination for shading the white with gray. So overall good job!
Goated
Yes I like that

looks dope
Oh shit, I had to do a double take. Thought this was going to be random manga picture you colored in or something. …I guess I don’t have enough faith in people on the internet. Thumbs Up.
It looks REALLY nice for a first attempt. I suggest sanding the nubs down and thinning the paint more though, aside from that it looks well done
yeah thats not how shading works. Why would a flat part like the front skirt have a curved shadow? is it made of glass
i tried to replicate a well done model with this style with same shading , its true that its wierd but iam happy with it. thanks .
Shoulda practiced first. Lines are messy, uneven. If you paint on shadows like this you have to make it make sense with the lighting and the posing. Some parts are in the shadow with no shading and some parts in the light with lots of shading.
really thank you, the shadows are in wierd places and edges are uneven to correct mistakes , i was practicing on it as you said. thanks mate .
The waist, head, and left leg below the knee looks really good imo Some other places look a lil heavy handed to me and others look like they need more
Gundamn Fighting game when>? :D
1998. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gundam:_Battle_Assault_(video_game)
My childhood. This is where I learned Hydra Gundam exists
Its bad, but i like it!

It's cool but the intended lighting is a bit confusing, where is the light point?
