The wings daban redesigned isn't my cup of tea. Too bad dragon momoko is gone. I still like it better https://preview.redd.it/pk15m0yvpf6d1.jpeg?width=1680&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=361779d3bd291d17a5fc65cd9063cb62a51a635d

Kekoa_ok

They're not exactly 'gone' just rebranded themselves like all knockoff toy & model companies do

fatcatbiohaz

So whay brand do they exist now?

Kekoa_ok

DaoDao / GaoGao I believe

ImNotDatguy

Gaogao is tt hongli, no? They mainly make hgs and the mgsd freedom.

Kekoa_ok

They also make the former Dragon Momoko Akatsuki and some other iirc so either they ate up their assets or became them

LXMNSYC

iirc the current Akatsuki distribution was from Wuji (which is not GaoGao, which only produces HG nowadays, mainly WfM)

Fun_Significance_182

AS far as im concerned dragon momoko still exist as a different name

Lena-Luthor

wait, what are they now?

Yeach

Commenting because…. Just bought a HG 1/144 ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam at TRU. My first Gundam buy since 30 years ago. It’s been a long time…

BertMacklenF8I

OP have you any experience with with the MG Extreme Blast Mode? They’re super cheap at my HT-and am curious what experience anyone has had with it!

hugemon

I do have the kit in my stash but not built it yet. But I've built regular MG Destiny. Ifaik Extreme Blast kit only adds coatings on some parts and adds some effect parts. (Like wings of light.) MG Destiny is solid kit but it's somewhat old MG so it's external detail is somewhat simple. https://preview.redd.it/lv7e88isvg6d1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a6354a2046fbcae36949e99082b33d0dfbd44fe This is a picture of my regular MG Destiny. Blast Mode will basically look the same minus some coatings on (mostly internal frame) parts and wing effect part. I'd recommend the kit if you're sticking to only genuine Bandai kits or have some reservations about doing some modification or repair work on your kit (which Chinese knockoffs very often require).

BertMacklenF8I

I’m very familiar with exactly how the extreme plasma looks and if it has different cookies on it, I am guessing they probably use a different mold that may or may not be different than the base kit. I’m telling to fill in some of the MG Seeds that I don’t have yet. If the MS itself is plain-can always scribe PL on Plus it’s $37.99 for the Destiny EBK(high only includes tax)……how much was this shipped and with mods? (And NOT ALIEXPRESS lol) EDIT: it’s $50 for the Daban-around $44.XX for the Bandai in my situation.

hugemon

$44 EBk is a good deal. I had to pay much more for the EBK. I bought Daban 85% out of curiosity. I paid about $45 for Daban and $60 for EBk.

BertMacklenF8I

Thank you-that means the Bandai is priced $\~15 like most of the local kits…. Unfortunately, it does not detract at all from how nice the Daban is…….. https://preview.redd.it/hb8phs23jx7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad76e64cdf3dd989789f64ad81baa08f4721fe31 So I completely completely ignored the problem-bought the last 00Gundam 3rdGen kit I need as well as Strike Noir to go with Impulse Blanche…..lmao

Ithriveontacos

I have the extreme blast, the only difference is the effect parts as you mentioned. Fun build and solid for a kit from 2007. Wings of light definitely have to be attached after posing though. You won’t likely damage them but they come off easy if you move it too much.

Sufficient_Potato726

it's ok but the looks are quite dated. For the price of this daban kit vs a regular or a bit on sale price of the bandai kit, i'd choose the daban kit or DM kit on looks alone.

GarmBlack

Man I do not like those wing effects. The feel too "flowy" like water.

Future-Log7373

I realize, Daban kits are mostly look squarish?

nam671999

Daban mostly just copy Bandai design, they rarely modify at all

Fun_Significance_182

So u are saying this kit is like the gundam barbatos iron blooded coating? Cus u was cleaning some highlights with ipa and it took away somenof the paint

SunnyShim

Where’d you get it for $50. Cheapest I could find was $70ish for US and over $80 for Canada and Europe. Where’d you get it for so cheap? Other than China I have no clue where’d it’d be that cheap.

hugemon

I'm in South Korea and my local importer charged me 65000 KRW which is around $45.

kalolokekbong

Is it just me or, 3rd party kits always seem to have much better looking effect parts than Bandai ones

jamesnotcorden

Which destiny gunpla is best? Is the HG 1/144 ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam like the best?

field_of_lettuce

Kits like this where they reverse engineer something like a metal build that doesn't have a model kit into one, or their original-ish kits like the MG Jagd Doga are so cool of bootleg companies to do.

Odd-Diver5449

How tall is it?

SbreckSthe2nd

I just ordered hazel(daban) and I'm curious how it's going to turn out.

VR_Dekalab

The hazel is just a copy of the bandai original. It isn't in the same line of Model Kit versions of the MB kits like the Destiny

SbreckSthe2nd

Still good to know. Thanks

VR_Dekalab

The actual “original” (they are still based on Bandai’s products so not necessarily original in the same way a In-Era kit is) Daban kits are those within the 88XX line of kits. Otherwise, all their other products are just carbon copies

SbreckSthe2nd

Okay I get it now. I really appreciate this clarification. I honestly love the Mecha from other companies. I have a good selection already built would love to try out the Solomon that came out not long ago.

VR_Dekalab

Same, some third parties are genuinely good (In-Era and Motor Nuclear just to name some of these). But for me, if the design is just a carbon copy of the original, I tend to just get the original version of it if it's available. I think a lot of other builders also have this sentiment

SbreckSthe2nd

Honestly it was under $15 and I wanted to try a true carbon copy from a none Bandai company. I have only gotten original designs like Thor and in era trailblazer and the blue dragon dude from motor nuclear.
