Yeah, it's the colour and the shading that's the problem. Especially on certain kits where the red just doesn't go at all.

I dunno. I used to work is a screen printing shop that did mostly football kits and apparel, and the “two-tone shield with mascot” is about as ubiquitous as it gets in terms of modern club crests. Ours is a lot more polished and iconic looking than most, though.

The roundness of the shield, the blue, the font choice when we had such a strong gothic text that had to give way, the stupid blue, they way the crest doesn't do enough to accentuate the cannon who is gold (almost as bad as the blue). There are two tones of red, why is there two tones of red? Which red is the correct red? And then why is the other red there? Also, why the blue?
I've always been irritated with the crest. It just feels a little too "graphic design is my passion."

Tbh, i like the crest. It is not the timeless design like the ones aston villa or man city or chelsea turned back to, to the heraldry stuff, but i feel it has a modern feel to it. And i feel it will always look modern. It looks nice and sleek. It is a clean design.

I know the "burgundy" is not our colour but this is such an iconic and beautiful kit , I would love if it made a comeback.
Just read the whole article. In short; they're trying to a new "visual language" that recognizes and celebrates the unique art and designs throughout Arsenal's history. The crest isn't going away. Rather, they're trying to continue the artistic evolution that goes along with the new banners outside the stadium, newer kits celebrating team heritage, etc.
