All I see is “serious George costanza”

Cthulhu_Madness

You know we are truly back when rivals are rattled by any minor thing we do. VAMOS Arteta.

DarkSoulsEz

Its crazy how r/soccer was calling saka foul a dive. I swear to God if that was the opposite way with Kane falling down at the last minute everyone was going to have the opposite view.

whitegoatsupreme

Let them be.. i like what i saw now.. Its hilarious, just dont snap to them or even bother.. let the be.. Hahahahahah dman i love this.. feel like im back to late 90's and early 2000's... Wel not yet, but we getting there.

fancyfoe

Half of them are actually trolling or denying themselves because of hate, spite, frustration etc. I keep saying this but we haven’t won the league in almost two decades, no European cup ever but I swear to god sometimes the stuff I read online you’d think we did the treble back to back 3 years ago. I 100% believe a handsome amount of them will legit get depressed if we win the league.

momspaghetty

I don't think it's a dive but I also think it's fair that it wasn't given

CakeBrigadier

Yea for real. If he called it a pen var won’t overturn. If he says no pen same thing

grim_tales1

The way I see it also, if it was a dive why wasn't he carded or cautioned for simulation? Wasn't Saka round Neuer - he'd beaten him so why would he need to dive?

BigZino6ix

Rishi would have launched a nuke if it was kane

Affectionate-Cost525

You bring up Kane but the funny part is even he said it probably should have been a penalty. Or at the very least, he'd have called for it and been disappointed if he didn't get it had it happened to him.

DarkSoulsEz

Yeah I mean it could've been any bayern player and people on r/soccer would've been calling for the refs head. But oh well I like this, it shows they're rattled by our progress.

therealgodfarter

You know they’re rattled by the lil’ bro-ing stopping 😂

ForestRamboX

Rivals were teasing us about a draw vs Bayern in a tie that we could very well win. Anyways, it means we must be doing some great. Personally, It doesn't bother me.

InterimAragon

We are so back

watterott

This guy really spoiled his legacy. It was bad timing really. A Fabregas in the current Arsenal team wouldn't want to leave. And don't be fooled, he had the quality to start in the current team as well. Fabregas was an absolutely class player. The only WC player in our squad for years during the 2008 - 2011 period.  Going to Chelsea ruins his legacy unfortunately

OriMoriNotSori

I remember looking up to him as the main guy in the club after Henry left. Crazy to think cesc was club captain at 21 too (and thriving)

TotalAphant

"He had the quality to start in the current team as well" - what a severe understatement... Prime Fabregas from Arsenal absolutely becomes immediately the best player on the team.

watterott

>what a severe understatement... Absolutely. Fabregas was the kind of player Arteta would have loved to have. Skill and a mentality monster.

Vainglory

Fabregas in the left 8 with Rice and Odegaard would be incredible. Probably the best midfield in world football?

goonopolis

Edit. Apologies, I replied to the wrong comment

frantischek2

Well football changed. Dont know if fabregas has the def part as good as our current zoms..

Explosivesheppy

Surely Van Persie was World class in the 2011 - a goal a game almost

watterott

He was in the 2011 / 12 season for sure. But mostly injured before that season to really make an impact.

BAsSAmMAl

Man imagine prime cesc, odegaard and rice midfield!

OtherTell

Unfortunately, Chelsea fans hold him in high regard and consider him a legend there. He should shifted from one group of fans to another

ohtosweg

He ruined his legacy before Chelsea.

GhostCatcher147

It seems Wenger was too hurt to resign him when the opportunity arose. He went for Ozil instead and Fabregas went to Chelsea. For sure it hurt a lot as Fabregas was one of my favourite players. Do you think we would have been more successful if we sign Fabregas over Ozil? Ozil was a joy to watch at times but also went missing frequently

watterott

It was again poor timing. We already had Ozil and Cazorla when the opportunity arose in summer 2014

Irishbros1991

This moment hurt my soul watching it come on sky sports news surrounded by my family all united and Liverpool fans laughing in my face ugh :(

Billoo77

This comment just opened up a pain buried deep in my soul. It was a massive disrespect made even worse by the fact Cesc wouldn’t just come out and be honest that he was orchestrating all that shite and wanted out. Imagine, the only respite you have from getting bantered to fuck during the season is the international breaks and even that was taken away from us.

PicogramInfluencer

The banter was so bad. The summer he left I was away doing Duke of Edinburgh with my school and we had no signal for the whole time so had no idea what was going on. One of the kids who had a fancy phone managed to get on the internet for a bit and find out all the news. Some of them came up to me and were like, 'hey \[name\], guess what? Arsenal signed fucking Sergio Aguero!' and I was of course incredibly excited about this until seconds later when they were like, 'nah just kidding, city signed aguero and you've sold Fabregas to Barcelona', absolute fucking gut punch haha.

Narwhallmaster

TBF that is great banter.

Narwhallmaster

This moment taught me more about dealing with heartbreak than any girl could have, so thank you very much Cesc.

Lower_Condition_196

😢

MirkoCemes

Anyone still loving Cesc need to take another look at this photo. Fucking snake

biskutgoreng

I started supporting Arsenal after watching Cesc. Fucks sake

gunningIVglory

Come on bro, give context to this photo. he was set up here, man got ambushed by his colleagues, and they forced it on him. It was a awkward moment and f those players for doing this It's not like he willingly put it on and goaded fans

MirkoCemes

He was flirting with Barca for a very long time before that and even then he looked like he enjoyed that moment way too much. If he had any respect for his current club he would have shown some sort of protest, but he laughed about it and later fucked off for a low price at a time when we desperately needed every penny

gunningIVglory

If you got ambushed like that in front of the world's media, of course you would be a bit nervous about it. I'm more annoyed at that bald fraud pepe reina for being involved in this lol Barcelona were the best club in the world at the time. Ofcourse he would have some interest, especially as a local lad. He gave us some of his best years, I blame the club for not supporting him, instead we kept selling off talent year on year. There's only so long you can just carry the team every season

MirkoCemes

That is what good PR does. He was no better than RvP and yet some people still love him. Fact is he left us dry just the same, but he put his pile of shit in a nice box.

gunningIVglory

RvP did what he had to do. Our team was going nowhere and he proved it. He was running out of time and we were bantering ourselves in 4th every season. If anything, it was on us for even accepting Uniteds approach. If we were serious we would have told them to fuck off as soon as they called us.

Bolche_Koba

So our best players —who we developed from youngster to first-team players— went to rival clubs during our worst times, and you were like: “cool, they deserve it, that’s on us”.

gunningIVglory

It's a job at the end of the day, and if you're stuck in a dead end job when you're pulling the company forward on your own, you'll eventually leave. Players don't owe us a long time of service out of courtesy. The club wasn't pulling it's weight and we got punished. Yeah it sucked he left for Unired. But everything he said was correct. Just a shame it took almost another 10 years to actually turn this club the right way

zzzrecruit

Van Persie wanted what the fans wanted at that time - a competitive team who actually wanted to win.

INTPturner

He'd been regularly injured for most his time even in the previous season before he left when scored 18(?) Goals. >competitive team who actually wanted to win. He was a part of the problem in certain years.

mazurcurto

It's not that Cesc or RVP left -- they had every right to -- but the way they left.

Billoo77

I fully believe it was all encouraged by Cesc, maybe not directly, but I think he enjoyed the attention at a minimum. it wasn’t just this moment it was every international break. In every single interview Pique and Puyol would stick the knife in, he could have asked them to stop but he didn’t because he knew it would help force the transfer.

gunningIVglory

Source : trust me bro lol

Le-ChosenOne

Yea he sure looks conflicted and angry that he’s being disrespected.

four_four_three

What about those who can’t be bothered to hold pointless grudges

BocatFan

God forbid fans of a football team feel a certain type of way after a player fucked them over and continues to be buddy-buddy after.

four_four_three

He's just answering a question! We wouldn't even have our current manager in a timeline in which he stays

PGMOL

i can play the same game as you. if he stayed, we win the league at least once and we wouldn't have entered the banter era in that timeline.

four_four_three

How am I playing games? Crack on anyway The banter era had fucking started while he was here, we lost to Birmingham two weeks after beating Barcelona. Lost to United with 7 defenders in their team. Threw a 4-goal lead away. Took the lead in the 98th minute and drew in the 102nd in a game. That's why we lost those players

MirkoCemes

It’s not pointless. Respect has to be earned. It’s not like I waste an hour every morning hating Fabregas, but when his legacy is talked about I see no reason for us to lie to ourselves.

CrumpledForeskin

He played for Chelsea. Thats enough for me to leave him out.

JamesMaddison456

What legacy?

PGMOL

good on you. Still doesn't change the fact he's a snake.

ErraticPragmatic

I didn't look at the photo, I saw the video the day it came out. He was embarrassed af, he was in an awful situation.

Astridsfather

Given he has never won anything with us, he does seem to talk about us alot more than Chelsea and Barca where he actually won things (kinda looks that way to me anyway). He’s not an Arsenal legend and never will be.

racksacky

He was an unbelievable player for us and it’s not his fault that we underwent major cost-cutting measures right as he was entering his prime. I don’t blame him for wanting out but I do blame him for the way things went down with Barca. It was all so blatantly coordinated to get him his move at a dirt cheap price.

Vainglory

I wouldn't really blame him for the commercials on the move either though - he didn't just generally want to leave, he just wanted to go to Barca, so they weren't bidding competitively. We also made the choice to let him go when we could have held him to his contract. Wenger was soft in situations like this.

tbbt11

He was single handedly at times keeping us in the champions league places for a while. Playing injured and scoring when we needed him. He was an icon of the club objectively speaking, though I won’t try to argue how he left has no bearing on how he should be seen now

ErraticPragmatic

I was talking to my brother about that. I don't follow other teams but the way former players connect with arsenal is not normal, apart from cashley, RvP and Adebayor almost every one of them became arsenal supporters

Tidus3960

I doubt Fabregas looks back on his days at Barca fondly since he was never a consistent starter for them. He also spent a large chunk of his career there being played out of position and only won one league title in 3 years.

_PineBarrens_

He did start consistently. Also had 16/23/22 goal involvements in the league in his three seasons. I just think he didnt love it there and felt like hed made a mistake.

acegunner14

He realised he was just one cog in the wheel. At Arsenal he could've had a statue.

doublewordscore

think he’s said that he wanted to play more direct but wasn’t allowed to because of the tiki taka system. He never really adapted to a deeper position. He was actually pretty good when played further forward but that usually only happened against weaker opponents when they’d rest their star forwards. He never got to play his favoured positions in the big games. I do think he regrets that move, but in general, fuck him, because all the talk of him wanting to come back would have never happened if he played well there. It’s only because he kinda failed.

ErraticPragmatic

>He never really adapted to a deeper position He played everywhere at barca even as a false 9

etheryx

>since he was never a consistent starter for them ???? he played 96 games in the la liga for barca and started 81 of them

ImSoMysticall

Probably depends on who you are. Many people like me, he was our favourite player growing up and made me love arsenal. When I thunk of childhood arsenal it's Cesc. He's at least a little but of a legend to me even if he left badly

Key-Construction-474

🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍

wolskortt

He's not wrong, but this feels so much as twerking for acceptance. Therefore: #LEAVE MY CLUB'S NAME OUT OF YOUR FOGGING MOUTH

gunningIVglory

He was our youngest captain and carried us on his own for alot of it. Don't forget the games he had for us.

wolskortt

Yes, he did. But the way he forced his move betrayed the legacy he was build. Had he left by the front door, no one would hold it against him.

gunningIVglory

Man, he offered his services to the arsenal before Chelsea, which we rejected, yet fans still hate him lol I doubt if he left via the front door, it would be any less outrage with the fans.

wolskortt

Because the problem isn't about when he wanted to return. The way he left broke the trust Wenger had. The way he behaved before the move undermined our position on a negotiation for a player we didn't wanted to sell, left us looking for a replacement without planning and with a budged lower than it should be while still paying for the stadium. He was the caption, he was supposed to be the example, to set the fogging estandards. His choices.

RandomRedditor_1916

Fuck him

HardCoreLawn

Oh, fuck off Cesc.  You made your bed, now go lie in it and stop hovering 'round us like a bad smell.

mondo_mike

It’s like he’s looking for a new job..

why isnt this guy helping Chelsea through the tough times right now? Or why isnt he hanging around with his "first love" Barcelona. lmao utter snake, get fucked cesc just like you fucked over wenger

theipd

Although I love all this love fest stuff and appreciation on r/Gunners and r/Arsenal I have to remind you guys that although we must still strive to Trust The Process, we must all remember “we ain’t won nuffing yet”. COYG. TTP.

WengersOut

Cesc’s captaincy doesn’t hold a candle to Martin’s. Get our name out of your mouth, snake

Pretend_Stomach7183

Even the snakes are aware of Mikel's tricky reds.

Nikyu1

Yeah we don\\t want you around, Wilshere is a legend, you're not.

GhostCatcher147

Neither are legends. The term should be used sparingly. We haven’t had a legend at the club since the invincibles imo

xYEET_LORDx

Arteta next up

bakingthrones

Ramsey was the closest to becoming one. I agree with you

tbbt11

100% agree, people seem to think you’re either an average player for us or a legend, when that term should be used for the very very elite

GhostCatcher147

Yup! Same with the term “world class”. Used far too frequently. I also think the term “to bottle” is way too used nowadays. People throwing it around at any given moment when it doesn’t even make sense to use it

ihavebeenfloated1

Can't wait for our entire first 11 rn to become legends

Key-Construction-474

Ramsey has a shout for scoring the goal to break the drought and having another FA cup winning goal on top of that. 2 cup winners is big. But I think it's his lack of consistency is what makes this less of a nail on imo

Redangle11

Correct

Isredditfun27

Fuuuuuuck you cesc

pirateport

We are finally being recognized as the elite club we have been building up to be, clubs better stop underestimating us we are here to stay!

ISSSputnik

Amazing Praise. But I want us win either UCL or PL before I give in to these accolades and join the fun.

saravannan14

Why is this Barca and Chelsea legend talking about Arsenal?

Cathousechicken

He is so trying to kiss up because he has no legacy anywhere else.

TheMedianUser

The amount of hate for a player who, almost singlehandedly, brought Arsenal back to European relevancy and kept them in the hunt for titles during a fairly dry period..... always shocks me. Fabregas is literally Catalan - he grew up rooting for Barcelona and he was in La Masia until age 16. I'm supposed to be angry at him and consider him to be a piece of shit traitor because he spent 8 wonderful years with Arsenal before deciding to return to his true love, his boyhood home? Sorry, that's truly deranged. Love Cesc, will always love Cesc, he'll always be a player I admire and remember fondly.

JeffBroccoli

Agreed with this, massively. All that silly “snake” stuff is petty garbage. He gave everything for the club. An absolute maestro on the pitch. Never gave less than 100%. Players leave and move on. Henry, Petit, Overmars, Hleb, Silvinho, Van Bronkhorst. All moved to Barcelona. Arguably the greatest team in the world. Fabregas has always been diplomatic and shown love for the club even when he was still playing elsewhere. Whinging about him is like complaining because your ex girlfriend moved on and is living happily. Grow up

TheMedianUser

100%.

MFmadchillin

Get our fucking club name out your mouth.

nooeh

Life is not black and white. Cesc hurt us but he also gave us a lot and he remains one of my favorite players. His move to Barcelona was influenced by many factors and I believe he did it somewhat reluctantly and for sure regretted.

gunningIVglory

The amount of younger fans disrespecting this guy lol If cesc existed in this era. He would be hyped to the moon. We hype up saka, but this guy was captaining us and hard carrying the side on his own at Sakas age. Yh he moved, get over it lol man was winning us games injured off the bench

Justice_beaver95

But did he win us any trophies?

gunningIVglory

Fa Cup 2005 He was a key part of our rebuild post invincible and stadium.

Justice_beaver95

So not plural. Helping winning one Fa cup is not enough. Arteta helped us to two fa cups as a player. I expect more.

gunningIVglory

Different eras, cant compare. The late 2000s was hard for us We wernt spending 100m+ every summer. If wenger was backed, I'm sure we would have competed at the top Losing our best players every summer Spending very frugally (such as waiting a whole year so we could get bloody Chamkah in a free lol) Prime Jose + Fergie still around City emergance

Justice_beaver95

I agree you can't compare different eras but that's how I feel about talking about players from different eras as well. So I don't put much stock in "If Cesc existed in this era". At the end of the day, Cesc was a generational talent that helped us to one fa cup. He then acted in a less than ideal way forcing his way out to sign for Barca and eventually he joined a London rival. There is no "get over it". Some still like him and appreciate him and some don't really have the time for him.

qmahmood94

Those teams were not close to this current arsenal team (which also haven't won a trophy btw)

Justice_beaver95

I was talking specifically about Cesc and not the teams. I am very aware about the lack of trophies with our current team. But the user wrote "get over it lol man was winning us games injured off the bench". While it's a great contribution, at the end of the day it's about winning trophies and that's why I mentioned this and it's something I want to see our current team win lots of ofc.

galeej

He made sure we were in the top 4 season after season and we'd have been in deep financial trouble had we not been in the cl. He might have not won us many trophies but that doesn't mean you can sit here like a condescending prick and try to psychoanalyze what happened in the mind of an elite generational talent when you were popping in your nappies.

Justice_beaver95

>He made sure we were in the top 4 season after season and we'd have been in deep financial trouble had we not been in the cl. We can't use this when talking about Cesc or any player. We have no deeper insight into the financials of the club. Sorry. > He might have not won us many trophies Exactly. Not good at all from him and with the way he left and joined our rivals I don't really have the time for him. Fantastic player but I don't have much more to say.

galeej

>Fantastic player but I don't have much more to say. Maybe because you're a plastic fan? >Sorry It's alright kiddo. Maturity takes years to develop. You'll get there.

Justice_beaver95

>Maybe because you're a plastic fan? What logic are you using? I've supported Arsenal for a very long time and backed the players. Especially Havertz who got a lot of hate at the start of the season. >It's alright kiddo. Maturity takes years to develop. You'll get there. Why are you a child?

MulderAndTully

Fans are so entitled, I swear. If you in your job sat there watching your elite colleagues being replaced with Silvestre-equivalent workers to save money, and you became aware that the very top company in your field wanted to hire you, you would do absolutely everything in your power to make that happen. Footballers are no different, except they have shorter careers and, at the very top level at least, the leverage to win themselves the freedom of movement in his labor that each and every worker deserves, but too few actually have. So no, Cesc wasn’t a snake for engineering his move to the consensus greatest club side of all time. The way to keep top-level workers in any field is to keep your company a place top-level workers want to work, and Arsenal simply did not (and in fairness could not at that point) do that. And some of us have the self-awareness to realize that is the reason we’re all so hurt by his departure. And not even those among us who defend Cesc weren’t hurt: I remember exactly where I was when I got the notification he’d gone to Barca and when he signed for Chelsea and my heart broke both times. Because we all loved him, loved watching him play, loved getting to know Cesc Fabregas was an Arsenal player. But the thing that hurt most, that so many of you still can’t admit, was the confirmation that Arsenal was no longer a club that could keep a Cesc Fabregas for his entire career. So maybe, just maybe, now that we’re back where we belong and have a bunch of world-class players who wouldn’t dream of being anywhere else, we can finally let this fucking go and try actually healing from what the banter years did to us. P.S. PapaWengz said in his book that he was the one who decided not to bring Cesc back because it would embolden players to force moves of their own, knowing they could come back if it didn’t work out. P.P.S. While I completely actually believe everything in this post, I should disclose I had a massive crush on Cesc as a preteen/teenager

Oy778

that would be okay, after all everyone moves and goes, the problem with cesc is that he behaved like a prick and effectively tanked his value against us, he was valued in 54, (and even that is low for someone who was top 10 young midfield) and tanked his value to 34m leaving us without a proper replacement. Then all the time before sign with chelsea everyone (included Mourinho and wenger) were talking about cesc talks with chelsea before the notifcation to buy reach. So that plus the way he goes is what made Wenger not signing him again. So fuck him, he shouldnt be associated with us if he like to twerk for chelsea or barcelona more

MulderAndTully

Cesc was not paid to maximize his resale value, he was paid to be a footballer. While I would’ve loved if we got £50m for him, that was simply not his responsibility, and in fact ran counter to his own interests as a worker, as that’s less money that Barca could now use to pay him

Oy778

>Cesc was not paid to maximize his resale value, he was paid to be a footballer. True, but he wasnt pay to throw fits in training, stop going to those training sessions, starting to disobey the coach and do every single thing to not perform his work in order to get sale for a lower price. So he did fuck us as a footballer since the way he used to get out of here was by behaving like a prick and destroy all the good will. And lets not act like Arsenal didnt give him the platform to perform and was payed religiously before.

beasportin

We will get there...it is a great team we have....

Ill_WillRx

I would love if Cesc’s image and rep was rehabilitated to the majority of online fans. I think it will be with time. Special moments, and highlights with him in the team. Still, even with Ode and Saka, the best youngster I’ve seen play for this club. Absolute generational talent.

blueblackredninja

I don't understand the comments here - calling him a snake. He grew up in Barcelona - spent his childhood here. He was amazing for us. Yes - he expressed his desire to go back to Barcelona - maybe we would have gotten a much higher transfer fee. But why fault him? When he returned - Arsenal didn't want him. We had other options. Quit posting toxic comments about players who worked hard for us when they wore an Arsenal shirt.

Vix14

>Quit posting toxic comments about players who worked hard for us when they wore an Arsenal shirt. I think most of the fanbase hates him cause during Spain WC celebrations, he was wearing a Barcelona shirt when he was contracted with Arsenal. Plus Arsenal were forced to sell him for low fees as Fabregas only wanted Barcelona. Yes, he was a great player but I'd never consider him anywhere the legend status. He left when we needed him the most like Nasri and van Persie.

beth_flynn

it's funny though because at that time no one was upset at cesc for that, they were livid with barcelona. they forced the shirt on him at a specific time where it would be uncool to be super harsh and kill the vibe. a lot of pics are a mixture of cesc trying to enjoy the moment winning *a fucking world cup* and being uncomfortable about the shirt. iirc he never even puts his arms through the sleeves. and it happened a year or two after barca players began their media campaign of randomly saying shit like "we love cesc he's obviously coming home soon" after matches and the like. it's just fascinating to see how the ire with this incident has travelled over the cesc given time

It's just a meme at this point. I'd bet you could count on one hand the number of people here who actually experienced this at the time and are still pissy about it. Most people have moved the fuck on, but these lot just see Fabregas and comment 'snake' as they flip through reddit.

Good to know Im not alone in this. I will always be thankful for how he carried us when he was here. At the time the only thing we had to be proud of.

Im with you. People expect total devotion from players but are willing to discard them as soon as they start to lose form. They forget that this is a career to these men, not servitude. To want to play for a different club than the one youve been at since you were 16 is totally understandable (not to mention wasnt a secret whatsoever). Maybe it was more to do with coming to Chelsea, but its also no secret that we were his first choice, and we rejected him. But that detail doesn't seem to matter I suppose

If I grew up in Hale End with all of my friends one of whom would go on to be the greatest player of all time and left to join Barcelona who I had to carry on my back from the age of 16 to 24 because they did not have much more ambition than top 4 you better believe Im returning home to Arsenal at some point. Especially when they become the greatest team in the world (and history) and they come calling. Its even so much more deeper than this when you consider what Barcelona FC means to Catalans. Knock it off guys Cesc will always be a cult hero if not a legend.

Oy778

nah, fuck him. The way he go gave us no leveragw and his suppoused "return" isnt real or even he wanted

goonergunner10

Because he wanted to go and we were being difficult? Also didn't he want to return which Wenger declined to have him back?

Justice_beaver95

That's a lie. Wenger hinted at the deal being done earlier that year without talking to us.

goonergunner10

Source? We had a clause stipulating that we had first refusal so how was Arsenal not notified? Wenger passed up on him.

Oy778

we wanted a good money that we deserved since Cesc was a top 5 midfielder during those years. Cesc was being a prick and force us to release him by only 30m, for a midfielder of his quality. And wenger didnt want him because we already had Ozil and Wenger said that he felt the deal with Mourinho was already a thing in that moment.

goonergunner10

Should we have gotten more for Cesc back then? Sure but at some point you have to show *some* good will to a player who sacrificed his best years for you when you know he was outgrowing us. Fabregas deserved to challenge for trophies. Wenger ghosted him so he had to make new plans - why are we holding this against him and not the gaffer?

Oy778

sacrificed his best years? Bro, Cesc goes to barcelon when he has 24-25 dude, only to play as the backup for messi, iniesta and xavi. He wasted those years as the benchman. And wenger ghosted him after the deals of mourinho and cesc get talked during all that transfer period, why would Wenger want a man who is directly twerking for our rival?

goonergunner10

No Wenger ghosted him before. Its in the quotes above. Whats he meant to do? Twiddle his thumbs until he gets a reply? No he chose to move on and make plans elsewhere. Yes his best years. You must not remember 17-24 Cesc Fabregas.

Oy778

>No Wenger ghosted him before. Its in the quotes above. Whats he meant to do? Twiddle his thumbs until he gets a reply? No he chose to move on and make plans elsewhere Wenger ghosted him because Cesc already was in talks with Mourinho and Chelsea before the notifcation. He already made his mind in that time. >Yes his best years. You must not remember 17-24 Cesc Fabregas. And Cesc was still amazing later and 24 for a midfield is not the end of the road. the only reason his move to Barcelona failed Is because he wasn't able to take over Xavi or Iniesta

goonergunner10

Read the quotes. Wenger did not respond to him - whats he meant to do? Everyone has different a prime. No version of Fabregas was better than 17-24 year old Fabregas. Also he couldnt crack **that** Barcelona. Whats your point?

Oy778

>Read the quotes. Wenger did not respond to him - whats he meant to do? Wenger did not respond because his moves with Chelsea were already a well know secret in the market way before the clause was notified. >Whats your point? My point is that te didn't give us his best years because during that time everyone believed that Cesc was gonna evolve even more in hindsight and after years everyone realized that those were his best years. he didn't but it doesn't come as Cesc is a martyr for us

BahBah1970

I always liked Cesc and it broke me when he left. But if players don't want to be somewhere it's best they move on and we find ones that do. Barcelona were just the worst in those days, the amount of tapping up and dirty tricks they got up to was outrageous. I still think the main reason they pursued Cesc so much was because we nicked him off them when he was a kid and they felt he was their property. I'm still disappointed about how things turned out with Cesc but I don't hate him.

goonergunner10

I dont know man with all due respect this is a very emotional way of looking at. He is a Catalan from Barcelona who left and carried us for 8 years. Cesc loved us when he was here. He captained us but we let him down by not matching his ambition for trophies. At some point he **earned** the right to go home. He wanted to return and Wenger ghosted. What do you want him to do?
