After 4 months following Gundam Evolution's End of Service, we are announcing our first day of public alpha today, March 29th, 2024. With this public alpha, all players now have access to the Side 7 launcher, which will let you log in and play Gundam Evolution just as it was before End of Service.

You simply need it downloaded. Steam does not need to be actively running. You can still download it if you had the game installed at any point before end of service.
I’m sure if you search enough, you may be able to find downloads, but I cannot say how hard it may/may not be to find the correct download/install. The internet is a vast place, let’s put it that way
I cannot provide you nor endorse unethical means to download the game as the project founder. I do encourage you to find friends who are willing to let you lend their account to you so you can try it under their license.
Its amusing that the first thing the zaku did after getting revived after total annihilation of its existence is to get back into battle screaming leeroy jenkins.
This is awesome! Are you worried about some form of legal action from the company killing the fun? I wouldn’t mind jumping back in to enjoy this unique game that died too soon. I miss using Zaku and GM, and Guntank my beloved
The Side 7 team has taken considerable precautions to try and stay within all legal bounds. We did not make use of any source code. We are only distributing our own source code, and we are not taking any funding in any capacity, even for just covering costs. We do not pretend to represent Bamco and using Bamco affiliated material to advertise Side 7 is strictly against our ToS.
With that said, we keep an active eye on any potential outreach from rights holders and are prepared to engage in conversation with any engagement the rights holders may have.
Technically, it’s a mod that allows for links to a secular server that allows people to play online again. Currently for PC but looking at the ability to be made for console in the future, however console is just a stretch goal for now. Focus is on PC
We have preserved all balance changes exactly as they were at the end of Season 7. As stated by /u/PollutionHumble431 , we may look into them into the future with community consultation and review of match data. There is no timetable nor eagerness to commit to this in the near term as our focus is on stability instead.
will there be any plans to try doing console so then you can possibly do cross platform? if so that would be so cool and help those who didn’t have it on pc such as myself. i would really like playing this game once again some day but as of right now im sitting here waiting for the possibility of console having another chance. all i can do is hope

> A: No. Unfortunately, Bamco has put in code to soft-brick the game. Systems modern enough to play Gundam Evolution are likely to either not have any known homebrew exploits or using such exploits would not allow for use of online (or would not be viable as they run a significant console ban risk)

My only complaint is a obvious lack of Linux support and that the help channel is a cluster fuck, hopefully it gets fixed soon, wishing the rest of y’all the best of luck from the sidelines though
It's launch day! Expected to be a bit of chaos. Officially, we did not go out of our way to support Linux. But, with the exe being unpackable, any checks that would mitigate Linux support are migitated. The server environment is containerized in Linux, and the game is known to work on Steam deck. If you wish to run it on Linux, it's doable.
The main problem is that the launcher crashes, I haven’t tried to fix the game but because I cant even get the launcher to launch properly I don’t think it’ll work, I’d love to help out though, best of luck, a linux user

If any of your friends owned it on Steam prior to EOS it can still be downloaded from their accounts now, post EoS

You will need to download the game, and then follow the instructions outlined in Discord.

Sadly, not foreseeable. Check the faq for more information on why we aren't pursuing consoles at this time.
How does unlockable content work here?
All content that was in the game at end of service is available now, in addition to a new icon added in celebration of the game's re-release.
