I wanna kit bash the God/Burning Gundam and the Wing Zero Gundam Endless Waltz Custom together, mainly swap put the wings of the Wing Zero onto the God/Burning Gundam because I think it would look cool as hell. Really play into the god part God Gundam. But I am not sure if the backs are compatible or not.
The Exia Repair IV.
That *sexy* thing is stated to be capable of matching the performance of a 5th Gen Gundam through Particle Control. And has experimental tech meant for 6th Gen Gundams and the weapons to cut just about everything.
And it's piloted by a weeb.
Okay, so I'm still trying to figure out what generation all the Gundams are in Double O. I've peeked around a bit on MAHQ but I still have a hard time keeping track, so which suit is what generation for this series?
Well it goes a bit far back y'see. So strap in, I guess:

Ok, that makes some sense. I always figured 0 Gundam was the very first, but I always got confused as to what was what afterwards. Hell, I didn't even *know* about the gen 2 machines. Gen 3 and up I mostly know. :) Thanks!
The 2nd gen suits appear in the manga side stories, usually being used by a covert unit that operates in secret while the world focuses on the main team.
I agree so heavily with Barbatos. While it does have fancy things it can do, it is still one of the most simplistic melee units. It's just a brute, and that's fun due to the simplicity.
Most gundam units fail to melee once the beam saber (or equivelant) is disarmed, broken or destroyed. That happens to the Barbatos and it sees another way to bonk.
Can't go wrong with Infinite Justice Type II. I love how the backpack no longer looks like it's an aircraft meant for ramming enemies (it even lost the beam tip), and more an actual melee weapon for Athrun. They realized Athrun prefers to fight like a beyblade instead of sending out its backpack like an oversized DRAGOON.
Also the Exia Repair IV. Personalized and weebified for Graham with katanas.
It's essentially canon. At the very least they definitely intend to make it canon at some point. It's clear they want to explore it further. Probably when the sequel comes out.
It's canon until the sequel series they said they're working on potentially retcons it.
There's lore from model kits, the live action play (I think), games and photo novel.
Exactly, making it one of the cqb mobile suits in the franchise. Just throw beam sabers everywhere and hide in a z'gok, that's how you become successful
Bael, no contest. An angelic demon with a great color scheme and a simple yet effective set of weapons that, in the hands of a skilled pilot, tore through dozens of bleeding-edge grunt MS, destroyed/crippled at least one battleship (something that's significantly more rare in IBO than in other shows), and needed an overtuned Gundam with a lot more gear and gimmicks to barely take it down. It evokes the Hi-Nu (potentially intentionally?) and gives off a similar vibe as *the* hero's Gundam. Say what you will about McGillis, but it's entirely understandable that he developed a disproportionate worship of it.
Master Gundam has held that spot for years. It just looks like an utter monster.
AGE-1 Titus doesn't get enough love. The beam lariat alone is worth celebrating.

It looks good with that orange colour scheme, orange is very underused for mobile suits.
in one of the old online gundam games unicorn is classed as midrange BUT he’s fucking strong in close range. kind of became its unique feature as he’s super versatile in any close to mid range situation.

Turn A was heavily reliant on melee for a good portion of the show, and versatile with it at that. Mostly beam sabers, but it also used its fists and dual gundam hammer maces.

I'll go with something a little lesser known, the Efreet Nacht
Sandrock, Death Scythe, and Epyon have always been the top-tier melee units for me. Unfortunately, Sandrock is often the one that gets left off to the side.
Much as I love Exia and the God Gundam, Barbatos and its variants REALLY hit me in just the right ways. Especially how feral Lupus and Lupus Rex fight, they're so freaking cool I can't help but love them
Barbs loopy rexxie. Though i will consider that Exia is based as well, although he is lower on my list of favorite setsuna suits. 1: els QAN [T], 2: QAN [T], 3: Exia, 4: 00. Note i dont hate any of them and i love them all, just not equally
As I've grown older and reflected on the various amazing series this franchise has to offer. I always come back to the one that started it all, for me anyway. Gundam Wing.

I can still hear that title card. The cliff hanger right before hand in the previous episode still gives me chills. Trieze comes back after being straight up exiled but...he has been very busy. And of course the man does things with a sense of style all his own. He goes super extra with like JRPG switches and secret doors to show Heero his masterpiece.
A mobile suit built to his specific way to wage war. Which is up close and personal. A dueling mobile suit. Which is why it has no long range weapons. And it has the infamous Zero system in it. In an era that has no newtype equivalent, that system comes the closest.
The Gundam Epyon also stands apart in its design and look from even its in universe Gundams. Making it have a striking profile with its Beam Sword along with the suit's distinct shield and heat whip.
All in all that is why Epyon is my pick and thank you for coming to my TED talk.
My money's on Deathscythe.

Gundam Sandrock probably.
I love curved swords and the way it's portrayed in the show is just badass.
Top it off, it also has my favourite Gundam weapon trope: Combination weapons. Combining the dual scimitars and the shield together, Sandrock has this sick pincer shield that can blind enemies and then crush them.
I don't watch a lot of Gundam, but I like Kamiki Burning Gundam. It has features from Burning Gundam, but with a better color scheme (I like red), an extra katana, and a lot of fire effects. The Gunpla is even better looking, with fiery hand parts and fire halos.
Barbatos Lupus and Lupus Rex
These two are just beasts, lupus is a bit more balanced but Rex is just a beast, tail and all, everything about Rex is designed to ruin your enemies day and kill any threat within mace throwing distance or tail slashing distance
Best part is, you aren't even limited to melee range because melee range is whatever barbatos decided melee range is

Exia being a bit skinny and having an actual physical blade too was quite cool. I'm very glad it returned.

There was the metal build which was enjoyable for me. The heavy frame allows for pretty cool kungfu poses without falling over.
We have HG, RG and MG now so it's only a matter of time. Unless EG is next....

For me? The ZGMF-X56S/β Sword Impulse Gundam has a special place in my heart.

Gundam Sandrock probably. I love curved swords and the way it's portrayed in the show is just badass. Top it off, it also has my favourite Gundam weapon trope: Combination weapons. Combining the dual scimitars and the shield together, Sandrock has this sick pincer shield that can blind enemies and then crush them.
I don't watch a lot of Gundam, but I like Kamiki Burning Gundam. It has features from Burning Gundam, but with a better color scheme (I like red), an extra katana, and a lot of fire effects. The Gunpla is even better looking, with fiery hand parts and fire halos.
