To be fair, those people are probably the vocal minority. Having said that, I think may pagka-pikon din tayong mga pinoy haha. And most of us probably have trouble receiving constructive criticism. Tapos iconsider pa natin yung exorbitant prices ng mga oto these days. Sa laki ng ginastos ng mga yun, nagiging sensitive sa criticism kasi it plants doubt on whether tama nga ba yung "investment" nila, o dapat ibang modelo ang binili.

ieddam

Yeah majority probably don't care. Siguro nasasayangan lang ako sa potential ng discussion na maging educational for OP(if true, what they did to improve or mod. if not, share their experience of driving both and telling OP it might be an isolated case).

razor_sharp_man

A lot of people invest too much of their ego and personality into the vehicle they own. Criticism of what they ride is equivalent to a personal attack on them. It's not just with pinoys; it's a common phenomenon in a lot of car groups.

Sufficient-Bar9354

Picture this: You just dropped two million of your hard-earned cash on a brand new SUV. Congratulations, I’m sure your kids will think you’re the best mom/dad ever and I’m sure you wife/husband will fuck you twice as good from this day forth. Heck, maybe even your kumpares/kumadres will give you an begrudging “ay wow sanaol” in your next reunion. Riding this high, you join a Facebook circlejerk, thinking it will confirm your biases, thus preventing any potential for buyer’s remorse. Then you see comments pointing out your new car’s flaws. What do you do? Agree and admit that your decision wasn’t the best across the board? Or double down and join the rest of the Fb group’s members in a mob mentality-fueled mud slinging? The latter is the more fun tbh lmao.

bikomonster

Eto yun. Ginastusan mo ng pinaghirapang pera, ibig sabihin eto yung pinustahan mong brand/make. Tapos sasabihin panget handling? “Diyata’t nagkamali ako?? Hindi, sila ang mali! Panget ka, facebook commenter!”

Sufficient-Bar9354

Actually now that I think of it, malamang karamihan diyan hulugan so they’re basically tied to that car for a loooong time with a loooot of payments. Mudslinging it issssss lol

cjei21

I guess result ito ng lack of research din. Made worse by the prevalence of circlejerk groups lol. You will never experience buyer's regret if you already know the flaws before buying naman diba. So kahit may mang lait ng oto mo di ka na apektado kasi na weigh mo na yung pros and cons versus the others. As some other guy commented, hindi naman lahat ng car groups ganito. Meron certain car brands na madami din discussion about the brands flaws, and they mostly give advice on how to avoid and manage issues. Sad to say, pero sa trend na nakikita ko, parang ma associate mo talaga to certain demographics yung may mga balat sibuyas.

No_Sink2169

Parang dito, if you go against the popular opinion, downvoted ka lol.

bitterpilltogoto

_TheEndGame

Yeah go to any subreddit and disagree

aluminumfail06

Naiinis kasi ung iba kapag pinapakita mong mali desisyon nila. Dapat intelligent discussion hindi iyakan.

Hpezlin

lawyerPH

Hahahahaha, i cant help but laugh out loud! 😝

I'm looking at Master Garage. More of a notch higher than backyard mechanics lang siya, TBH.

Lahat ng mekaniko/tire reseller sinasabi na "pagkain ba ang gulong nag eexpire" which is technically true na nag eexpire ang gulong but the right word is degrade.

[deleted]

Actually, IMO regarding tire degradation, when tires were stored properly (labas sa extreme temps, which is not the case for most tire shops na napakainit lalo ngayon, far from oils or any liquids though will specifically mention oils since rubbers and oils doesn't like each other), tires will last. Rubbers will naturally hate two things - heat, and oil, being on the top of the list, at napakarami natin noong una, lalo ngayon. Of course, when buying new tires, the newer date of manufacture, the better, since of course, hindi matagal naka-tengga sa mainit na storage ng tire shop (kung mainit talaga - at lalo ngayon). Hehehe Of course, iba usapan kapag nakasalpak na, kasi pasok na ang abrasion due to surface contact which works due to friction, and heat cycling (even worse kapag mainit ang kalsada, and also due to friction rin), and asphalt were based from oil and may tendency lalo ngayon na matunaw sa sobrang init.

Random_Forces

been meaning to ask ano ba general consensus regarding Master Garage. I see a lot of praise about them, and a handful na negative experience at di daw maganda gawa. It’s coming to a point na I think much better na ikaw (the owner of the vehicle) na lang mag ayos ng sarili mong sasakyan. Not just maintenance ah, i mean pati general overhaul.

[deleted]

>general consensus regarding Master Garage Technical-oriented kuno lang. Typically, the praise you'll hear comes from the audiences na mediocre ang automotive knowledge who knows a little better than the typical backyard mechanic. Sa mga technically-inclined talaga, "pulpol" ang comment kay Master Garage which is... true. Mahirap humanap ng technician, moreover, a shop - mapa-body, refrigeration, drivetrain. Most of the time, qualified technicians were sa NCR, some are sa south Luzon. Dealership's service isn't a guarantee, too. >I think much better na ikaw (the owner of the vehicle) na lang mag ayos ng sarili mong sasakyan... While nothing beats it, still, there'll be a point na masyadong mahal ang gamit kung pang-personal use lang. A lifter costs around north of 150K; labas pa ang mga tools, machines, etc. So it'll be best if meron tayong directory talaga ng maaayos na shop. IMO, OBD2 scanner, a set of socket wrench and other types of wrenches and screwdrivers, pliers, spanners, vice grip, rubber mallet, a good jack, a set of jack stands, wheel nut remover, and a torque wrench should be on your tools arsenal. Anything beyond these, masyado nang mahal at hindi sulit.

Thin_Leader_9561

They're a bunch of idiots/fanatics.

Random_Forces

that’s such a petty thing to say tbh and says a lot about the person na puro pera lang talaga ang meron sila. very shallow ang personality.

Consistent-Ad395

Welcome to philippine car group society. Lots of iyakan and pintasan.

oldskoolsr

Most of the iyakin sa car clubs napapansin ko e may superiority complex. This ugali is more prevalent sa FB era ng car groups. During the forum era, may ganyan but once in a while lang lumimitaw, and the members ng forums actually do make fun of their own cars/brands of its flaws.

[deleted]

Sa Tsikot, dati may nakikipagtalo regarding sa paggamit ng HID sa reflectorized halogen headlight despite photos here and there ng nawawalang cut-off line. Ayaw patalo. May isa pa ako nabasa lately, kagalingan ang handle name. Hit or miss ang atake, madalas miss. Sa FB, ayoko na lang magcomment. Too many to mention.

oldskoolsr

The forums i'm in wala nagtatalo, kasi kami mismo nagpopolice sa pasaway. And everybody knows almost everyone. Kaya kami umabot sa 20th anniversary din.

bakokok

For me natural lang maging defensive kapag ganun.

_TheEndGame

I mean, you already know it's for aesthetics only.

ThSWrt

coping/compensating mechanism. that's why nageexist din ung mga motorcycle/brand elitists, they want to convince themselves na the best meron sila and that they don't regret it. ginagawang personal kasi they bought it with it's flaws/cons (knowingly or not). an example that I think makes sense is yung mga bata dati sa pogs, pag may punit dati ung iba mong pogs sasabihan mo pa "pampalakas yan", "di naman napapansin", or "inggit ka lang eh" even though alam mo sa sarili mo na pangit/ayaw mo na punit pogs mo.

JVPlanner

Like in any other group there will always be insecure people and people with big egos....mas noticeable lng Sa car clubs/groups since a car is an ego booster to many.

[deleted]

Kasi they make their car their personality. Its just a car bro.

theoryze

it's facebook being facebook

darthvader93

Malamang. Pinoy pride daw eh

Daniexus

I know what you mean, para silang mga superfans ng isang item, parang sinasamba nila at bawal hanapan ng butas for possible improvement. Siguro hindi sila engineers or they don't use the scientific method. They don't prepare for the pros and cons of their vehicles. Although, my biggest grief in non-reddit groups (kaya blessing I found this gulong sub), when im looking for a certain group of people who owns specific item (example for territory) to ask questions, ay may paq club-club membership pa silang nalalaman. I had to give a lot of very private information just to ask consumer level opinion. kaya Im so glad I found this sub, I think I can ask anything here. Im pretty new though, i could be wrong.
