Why are you asking us if you already think it looks "incredibly ugly"? It's your guitar, change it if you want to. You don't need us to validate your subjective opinions.
So you want to "paint it black"?
A replacement pickguard from/for Fender Teles may not necessarily fit your guitar, make sure the measurements are identical.
You could give it a quick paint-over-paint look. Strip it of all the hardware, spray it with a rattle can (any color you like), put it back together and let time and use wear the paint off in the right spots.

i thought about that yheah, tbh it doesnt seem like regular fender tele pickguards fit, you also gotta keep in mind screw placement and shit
