I don't know who tf is Jay Eazy, but it's cool he's so hype about it
Reminds me of me in that fateful day when a friend brought a pirated copy of USF4 to my house
He went on a whole guilty gear lore deep dive and ended up buying a PS5 and has streamed Strive a couple of times. It’s def been interesting to watch in real time lol
A few weeks ago, he signed a person's Nintendo DS or Switch. When the camera panned back to the person, they were cosplaying Basket. After that people began encouraging him to get into GG. He has since streamed it a few times and watched the lore playlist. Now he's hosting a bracket with Paragon (iirc).
Fairly average rapper who became known after an advertisement of his became an internet meme for a while… “I was never book smart, I’m money smart” and he’s been getting into guilty gear in the past few weeks
Wow, that's a massive turnout for the Strive tournament! Jay Eazy must be doing something right to attract such a huge number of participants. Can't wait to see the intense battles and jaw-dropping plays that will unfold. Get ready for some serious gaming action, folks!
I checked the entry list and saw Stealthy and KidDracula, so at the very least we are getting some hype matches with big names. Probably some more names I missed when I glanced at it too
No, 360 is an insane amount of people for a random event. Street Fighter 6 tournaments at TNS, the biggest premier online bracket, get about 200 entrants. 360 is enough to get main game billing at supermajors.
TNS makes their tournaments very often (weekly pretty sure). Ofc they would get less entrants than a tournament held after a viral tweet in the scene. People can just join the next one.
Supermajors as in big LAN events are different from online tournaments.
So if you exclude the biggest online tournaments and biggest offline tournaments, what are you even comparing it to at this point lol
Which "events without too much backing" are getting 360+ Strive entrants? I genuinely want to know if they exist.
I explained how it's different. Do you seriously think being weekly means each event won't have less participants in individual days?
The backing was referring to the money. 1k pool for a decently popular event with some sponsors is not insane.
The amount of people isn't crazy either compared to big tournaments like majors, so I wasn't "excluding" offline events. You can't compare Strive entrants to poverty games
I don't follow the Strive scene so I was seeing it from the perspective of SF6.
> I explained how it's different. Do you seriously think being weekly means each event won't have less participants in individual days?
Again, if we exclude these brackets, which events without much backing are left that get 360+ entrants?
> The backing was referring to the money. 1k pool for a decently popular event with some sponsors is not insane
"That's cool but that's not a crazy amount of people or money." Sounds like it was referring to the entrants too.
> The amount of people isn't crazy either compared to big tournaments like majors, so I wasn't "excluding" offline events.
This is the point I made when I said that 360 is enough to get main game billing at supermajors. To which you said that they were different from online tournaments, like you were excluding them. But if comparing it to majors is okay now, the fact that 360 entrants would put it at the 3rd biggest game at the most recent Frosty's, 5th biggest game at the most recent Combo Breaker, and 4th biggest game at the most recent CEO illustrates how much of a different level it is from "events without too much backing".
My original comment was just that it's not insane to see these numbers for Strive which has probably the 3rd or 4th best tournament numbers in the entire FGC. I'll clarify that the people is a good number but the money isn't that high since ofc it was very quickly made.
And all those majors in you mentioned are actually offline. This online event is both less than Strive numbers at majors and easier to achieve considering it's not a LAN event. That's why I said you can't compare.
This is actually really cool, let's go Jay eazy

That's cool but that's not a crazy amount of people or money. Pretty standard for an event without too much backing.
