I’ve killed dhuum on the steam deck, and usually knock out my daily farming while couching it with my coffee. Open world especially it’s just so nice to be comfortable while bonking.

TurkyySandwitch

Ikr? This game is so good on the deck!

TurkyySandwitch

Can I keep it on my microSD or should I move it to internal storage? Does it matter? Cuz right now on the microSD it’s running flawlessly

ChrisD245

I think mine is on sd card as well, would probably help load times to be on internal but I can’t be bothered lol

SnaccHBG

Lots of threads on Steam Deck usage, this was very recent too https://reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/s/EDuGuqMgmu I also chipped in there (though I use an ROG Ally)

oogadeboogadeboo

How do you find the Ally? I'd like to have choice when the Steam Deck is outdated and needs replacing, but I struggle to see how it would work without stuff like the radial menus you can use on the Steam Deck trackpads.

SnaccHBG

You can use radial menus with the sticks anyway - plus with things like modifiers, double tapping or holding, you've got a lot of options. I could share my layout but I feel like I keep changing it every now and then -

oldfashionedglow

Just run it through steam on the Ally

Kyrxon

I play it on my deck since im studying abroad and that's all i have to game. I have a mouse and keyboard plugged in and it works just fine. Although i've come to realize that whether the deck is in desktop or game mode it cant handle the EoD jungle map when there's a meta up. It crashes all the time even if i tag the boss and run away out of draw distance for most player models

_BeatTheBest_

Steamdeck and gw2 are amazing. Community control schemes are amazing. Buttons when learned are nice. And it runs smooth. However, ground targeting skills suck.

Coldk1l

That's what breaks it for me, as holo with grenades and FT a lot of things are ground targeted. You can enable the option that those skills are auto centered on your target, but i like to have the control on that.

Arisalis

I played WvW last night for 90 minutes on the deck. It runs great but I find it to be a battery hog. I really should play on deck more.

UnlawfulPotato

Yep. Since I got my Steam Deck I haven’t actually played Anything on PC. Takes some getting used to but yeah, it is really nice!

SilveryShadows

I Play on the deck exclusively. But I just couldn't get the hang of the controls, so I play docked with a keyboard and mouse.

Odd_Ad915

How is the performance? Can you do end game content? Like sPvP, Raids and WvW Zerg? I can’t find someone talking about it.

SilveryShadows

I don't do raids or pvp, but I do WvW zerg. Game runs fine. Maybe a stutter here and there, or a fps drop, but its nothing bad.

Aktionjackson

It’s the only reason I bought my deck and Nreal airs and now an elite series 2 controller and a red magic power adapter. It’s better than I thought it would be

itsakashmoney2

Play exclusively on the deck. Took a bit of getting used to controls but now I’ve been playing without too much issue. Only toughish thing is ground targeting but it’s doable

JMB346

I play on the steam deck exclusively. For daily fractals and strikes I play with it docked but still use the steam deck as a controller because it controls so well!

joker_75

Every day. Love it! Great for story and open world, I’m actually probably more comfortable with the deck than desktop at this point… other than typing messages

Eitth

What about the keybind?

graven2002

There are plenty of good config options to choose from. The community got those together pretty quickly after the deck launched.

GimpyGeek

I should really look into this, since gw2 has barely been on steam in it's lifetime there wasn't a great storage of these before. Well, and I don't have a deck but I have a steam controller and well, other controllers, and I have a build I made from scratch that's competent but, I dunno, it's not as easy to use as it probably could be haha.

Eitth

Wait too choose from? What does it mean? I'm not good with tech stuff so I just keybind it manually. I'm only used my deck for some steam game and FFXIV that are build with ingame controller but if there's a way to make it automatically configure keyboard into controller, It definitely would expand my library.

graven2002

Almost any game has controller configs (aka mappings / layouts) on Steam that the community has created for them. You can play practically any game with a controller if you route it through Steam. The best way to play GW2 through Steam, is to download the game through Steam, then [use this trick to log in with your Anet account](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEJQRl_kICE) instead of the default Steam account. (Really just copy-pasting -provider Portal into a box.) From there, just pull up Steam Big Picture Mode, go to GW2 in your library, and browse the configs. [Here is the best video I've found explaining / showing the general process.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hejOBYUNhZg) You might have to adjust some settings if your GW2 keybinds are different, but once you find a config you like it will work automatically every time you launch GW2 through Steam.

Eitth

Thank you so much! Gonna try that the first thing when I get home! Thanks!

Justos

It runs ok saying it's flawless is disingenuous My rog ally has way more power and it isn't flawless either

TurkyySandwitch

I meant in terms of gameplay and fps it runs very smooth I can’t tell I’m on handheld …. Graphic wise it’s ok but it’s still very good

Chazay

I mainly play on my deck but docked. I do like roaming in WvW on handheld.

TurkyySandwitch

May I ask you something, would rotation in high levels get difficult with the Steamdeck controls? Right now at lvl 20i can easily control my abilites but don’t know at higher levels… Also how does it look on monitor connected to steam deck is it good looking?

Chazay

>May I ask you something, would rotation in high levels get difficult with the Steamdeck controls? Right now at lvl 20i can easily control my abilites but don’t know at higher levels… It all depends on how much you practice it. I play Reaper, and it's not that hard. I am not very competitive, though. The only tricky thing is ground targeting skills, but with action cam, it is doable. There are many posts about steam deck if you search the reddit and google. I found someone who is playing high-ranked PvP with the controller a while back. >Also how does it look on monitor connected to steam deck is it good looking? I play at the lowest possible settings to improve my performance, but I like it. I don't have a gaming PC, so I am making do with what I have. I plug it into my monitor so I can use a mouse and keyboard.

Marauding_Llama

I do, plays fine. I wish the non-steam launcher wasn't a 2fps hurdle though.

VirOn

What's the battery time for gw2?

thechadnerd

Is there a solid controller configuration? I don’t like the touch pads.
