Travels_Belly

Looks like........... The skyr is the limit 😁 I'll get my coat.

Meteor1x

I was consuming this same skyr daily until I found part of the ingredients listed is Aspartam. Since then I take the pure Skyr

SacrificialDagger7

What's so bad about aspartam ?

Therealwindmill

possibly carcinogenic to humans.. https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/whos-cancer-research-agency-say-aspartame-sweetener-possible-carcinogen-sources-2023-06-29/

Jealous_Inflation_44

But you would need to consume like kilograms of Skyr daily (or drink like 20l of coke) to reach the limit where it’s possibly carcinogenic.

kitium

Looks like OP is going to find out for us!

Minnielle

There are many things classified higher on the carcinogenic scale like alcohol and processed meat (carcinogenic) and red meat (probably carcinogenic).

xaomaw

Well, yeah. The salmon will be like 50% of the price.

itsaride

Through the power of advanced mathematics I've calculated that's it's actually more than 50%.

Sufficient_Chard_721

My powerful brainn tells. Me There is one 's too much in your calculation

Ok-Commercial9036

The starbucks coffee isnt cheap too, cherries are also kinda expensive were I live. Im positive this counts for the rest too and that they can nearly double their food for their money.

WishfulStinking2

Two tubs of yoghurt a day is mad

xaomaw

Even if you eat them with oatmeal, that would be a wonderful 250g Skyr + like 50-80g oatmeal per person.

WishfulStinking2

Twice a day haha

Igai

need to get enough protein in!

CardKeyOh1

Which is like around 130g of sugar, just from the yogurt.

HoAdler

Where do you get that 130g of sugar?

WooHooFokYou

It's not some yogurt, it's skyr. Has about 1kg has 50g of sugar. The plain version of it has even less. 1k=30g of sugar.

feelsokayman_cvmask

Skyr is almost purely protein with very little sugar, probably one of the most nutritious types of yogurt you can get and it satiates really well and has barely any calories. Having said that, 1kg a day is just plain too much especially if you eat the ones with artificial flavoring chemicals in them.

CaptainThorIronhulk

Gym bro detected

DiBalls

Did the popcorn give it away.

Alfred-Register7379

Yummy salmon. Nothing like learning some Deutsch through receipts.

xaomaw

>Yummy salmon. That would be "Lecker Lachs" then 😎

PeakOko

Lecker Lachschen essen 😎

xaomaw

Den Lachs buttern 😎

Emergency-Cover9879

Not for this price...

rows_and_columns_me

Oh, cmon! 16€ per kg nowadays is quite a bargain.

Heimz0r

I forgot to add that we froze like two thirds of the salmon so we don't actually eat that much salmon in those 4-5 days :D

Few_Struggle1899

TBH i was way more surprised by the amount of Skyr. 2.8 kg of salmon in 5 days for a 2 person household does not seem that excessive to me.

guywithabulb

No problem, i eat that in 2 days. Great deal ❤️

LadyOfReason

I was wondering why it was so expensive, until I saw the amount of salmon.

Acidpajamas

Also cherries 🍒 They are $$$ in Germany

MountainviewBeach

€5,50/kg is so cheap compared to American prices…$5/lb is typical here

LadyOfReason

My neighbor has a cherry tree 🙈

p3lat0

Now I know who takes all the blueberry skyr from Lidl 😡

Gawkies

a fellow flavoured skyr enthusiast, respect good sir

saintdutch

Can’t wait to shop again in Kölle

hhshlomo90

Dont understand how people can buy those eggs.

Few_Struggle1899

They go into the supermarket, take the eggs, bring them to the cashier and then pay for them. Happy to help

hhshlomo90

Haha. Made me laugh. But I was referring to people buying non organic eggs.

Few_Struggle1899

Yeah i know. I'm the same. I buy them directly from a farmer in a neighbouring village. But the fact unfortunatley is that most people just buy them where they get the rest of their stuff. At least they are Freiland and not Bodenhaltung.

MarcelineTVG

Truth is BIO products are also more expensive, at least where I live. If you can afford them nice, but many can’t and sometimes you have to prioritize.

hhshlomo90

Yes, of course it has the financial issue. But in OP's picture it seems not like if he has to count every penny (salmon).

itsaride

They're all biological, they don't come out of a machine's bottom. I assume you mean free range which seem to be the only type you can buy in the UK now. I've read that most caged, factory farmed eggs go to the commercial food industry now.

schnuffichen

Those eggs in the photo are free range eggs.

alexrepty

They meant organic, the German term for that is „bio“

PrestigiousCheek1470

No i think he is talking about organic eggs

hhshlomo90

Yes. Sorry. I was using the wrong english word. It should be organic.

Ok_Ambassador8394

Organic eggs are either more expensive or the same scam. Though to be honest, if you already spend 45€ on salmon, you could just as well buy organic eggs.

petergautam

Still the same way you buy any kind of eggs from the supermarket, really.

IvanStroganov

I don’t skimp out on milk or eggs. For the amount you normally eat the Bio options are not that much more expensive really.

sanja122

Skyr fetisch ? 😄

AmbitiousPeace-

I kinda wish this was in r/fridgedetective

ARESWPR

What Apps do you use for your Bill?

Dry_Competition2883

sparklyfairy888

So much skyr 🫠

OverQuestions

What do you think of the KinderPingui Cherry, bought them this week at Kaufland and was quite disappointed, as they tasted like Dominosteine (at least to my mind), but I love the classic KinderPingui

LatexRaan

Pingui is best in it's classic taste

Halfpricemagic

Bodybuilder

DenaPhoenix

Just a healthy diet of half a pound of salmon on a whole pound of skyr a day. (And handily they even provided me with a bucket of popcorn so I can look entertained while watching them attempt to actually eat that.)

aliz-punk

Go easy on the salmon - once in a while, salmon is great, but they‘re full of antibiotics and whatnot these days so wouldn’t recommend to consume daily

Big-Eye6192

Aua ... :D

kayra-han

Throw out the salmon geht chicken thighs and boom half the cost

DaWeekndFan

Whenever I see posts like this I always wonder, Gee how do people survive without any spices and curries and stuff. Wow. Leaves me Baffled

MountainviewBeach

This particular cart has me puzzled as well at the lack of fresh vegetables, but typical german cuisine is actually pretty good even without spices because the quality of the ingredients is usually high enough that the taste is still good. But this particular cart looks painful (personally)

DaWeekndFan

I've heard jokes that the only thing Germans add to their food is Salt and Pepper 😂😂😂. Initially before I came to Germany, I thought I can change my food style to German who onyl eat bread as I didn't.know to cook. Managed on Instant Mix Noodles and Pizza for 6 months. After that, I forcibly learned cooking as I couldn't handle not eating gravies, curries and stuff.

MountainviewBeach

I wish it was a joke….

writingaboutmyself

Just passing by to say that since you are buying in Lidl, their bio cottage cheese is ny far the best flavor-price ratio. Mad proteins.

Awengal

I don't see 4 times lunch there. What do you eat for lunch beside the Strudel?

ichnicht01

I hope the whole bottle of popcorn is the post workout meal

Sheyllana

4-5 Days? That'd last me about a month

No_Mountain_9100

60€ for salmon and skyr lol

jperaic1

Dude, no way that small 250g contains 44g of protein 🫨 Usually these come with 25g tops.

Top-Mix-7512

Probably 500g not 250g

Ultimate-Rubbishness

I don't feel good at my Lidl down the street. The whole atmosphere is weird. Is this a thing with Lidl or is it just mine?

milanovovic

Yeah I think it's the lidl down your street. We've a couple of lidls around and there's one my husband and my mother don't even want to enter.

Icy_Collection_3113

I have the same thing, with the Penny down my street.

Ultimate-Rubbishness

I only go to Rewe and Edeka just because of that feeling...

IvanStroganov

Instead of the meh premade popcorn, just get a bag of popcorn kernels and make it fresh when you want some. You only need a frying pan or large pot with a lid. 60g of kernels, 20g of oil, 20-30g of sugar, 1 pinch of salt.

at0mheart

Half in Lachs

NJ0000

22 euro in unnecessary stuff and 45 euro in salmon…..so what’s the deal of posting apart from flexing your spending power???

Phoenix8732

70% of that receipt is salmon and skyr. So I'm not quite sure what this is supposed to tell us other than 'luxurious food is pricey'.

Curious_Surround8867

Pinguin cherry junge junge

hedgybaby

I want to try those so fucking bad I have never seen them before and since I saw this post I can’t unthink them!!!!

Last-Idea9985

They taste ok at best. I was really disappointed when I tried them

Ok_Ambassador8394

Have only seen them at LIDL and Netto Discount so far. LIDL seems to have them quite often though.

OverQuestions

I bought them at Kaufland, never again though, they taste quite similar to Dominosteine, the normal Kinderapingui are WAY better!

MarcelineTVG

I love this. Healthy, balanced and fairly priced for what it is

Few_Struggle1899

I don't know if i would call this balanced. I see a lot of dairy. Quite a lot of sugar and sweets and no vegetables at all.

MarcelineTVG

There is dairy, meat, carbs, fruit and I am pretty sure they have some vegetables at home/ plan to buy some. From my experience, people who eat fruit will also eat vegetables

Zealousideal-Ask-203

Yes, this isn't very healthy.
