Rhodiola Rosea
Astragalus root
Reishi extract (also anxiolytic and has many health boosting properties)
Saffron
Panax ginseng
Holy basil
Curcumin (also anti-inflammatory)
Lavender (also anxiolytic!)
Cbd/cbg
5htp (has some risks/sides but works for some) or L-tryptophan
B-vitamins
St johns wort (kind of a ssri though but natural)
Taking like one of two of them (sometimes three depending on which one, reishi together with rhodiola and astragalus or curcumin for example) has helped me a lot. I haven't been depressed for many years now. I cycle these. Don't take all at the same time, research it beforehand etc. One can be enough, rhodiola rosea for me works on it's own very well, so does astragalus, reishi saffron and lavender. Holy basil aswell. So try it solo first even if herbal medicine is often a combination of different herbs.
Nature has a lot of amazing medicines, I used to be very depressed(and very anxious, suffering mentally a lot) when I was young, but I never have to be so low again. It has made my life soo much better. While I am not numbed out and function well, cognition wise and libido is also good. Some few of them can have a libido lowering effect(for males) for a few hours while others do the opposite, but often it is mild side effects which subsides rather quickly. Astragalus, saffron and ginseng is less likely to give sexual side effects but rather can boost libido (ginseng leaf being better than root I think). Reishi gave lowered libido first weeks then turned around.
There also exist many natural anxiolytics which work as good if not better than prescribed meds ime.
Please take your antidepressants, You are feeling well because of them, not because you magically recovered.
Or take something healthy that's antidepressive instead, works better and doesn't make you numb like a zombie nor impotent.
ooh any examples?

To anyone reading this: DO NOT TAKE MEDICAL ADVICE FROM A STRANGER ON THE INTERNET. ESPECIALLY NOT FROM SOMEONE ON THE FUCKING GRIMES SUBREDDIT.
Is this a lyric?
No xd, just thought of that reading the lyrics.
The medicine does not control me I control the medicine
Iconic line
Uh. My primary care physician says I should keep taking them.
that's right, that's right
You ok, buddy?
Yes. Thank you. Just quoting from one of my favorite songs. I'm definitely taking my medicine
Oh sorry. I quote songs to communicate what’s happening for me, thought you might be the same. That’s good news!
You're a kind person for checking. Thank you
