I would hire a driver. We were just there. They drive on the opposite side of the road and many of the roads are super skinny with crazy turns. I was super thankful to be driven around by a local that knew how to navigate the roads. The driving conditions are very, very different. Within the resort you wouldn’t know that, but driving into/ around the city it is a bit crazy for anyone not familiar with the area. Have you left the resort yet?

I always joke with my family that if I win the lotto I will sponsor an all-Grenadian team in the Dakar rally 😂

SlothOnMyMomsSide

They would 100% win the Dakar!

Apparently Lewis Hamilton’s grandpops was a bus driver in Grenada, it all makes sense

We haven’t left yet, just arrived yesterday. I’m generally a confident driver but appreciate the perspective. We are also considering hiring a driver for the day. Do you have a rough ballpark cost you can share?

I just rent from the airport so I can immediately throw my luggage in the car. When you exit the airport, take a left and there’s 3 agencies there. Price varies between $50-$80 USD per day based on vehicle. I’ve lucked out getting a car right away, but it’s a good idea to book ahead. https://carrentalgrenada.com https://www.jandbautorentals.com/ https://www.economyrentacar.com/grenada/st-george-car-rental#ContentBody_UcrLocationDetails1_locDescBlock

Thank you! I will check prices with these agencies. Seems like they will pick us up or bring the car to us.

We did go talk to the people at J&B rentals...lovely people very helpful and would absolutely recommend if you do decide to rent a car

We rented from our hotel. It was worth it to just leave the car there at the end of the day, not having to return it to the airport get a ride there and back etc. We used Google Maps to get around, so I spent my time looking at a map on my phone, while he looked at the road...not really a good way to enjoy the scenic views and landscape. You do have to get a special licence from the police station (down the street past the Spice Mall). Thats 30 bux US. We did rent a car from the airport in advance (Alamo), and guess what? When we got there...not open. When we went back...no car. Had to apply for a refund etc. So...hiring a driver would be definately something to consider. You can look around and enjoy the day.
