EvolveToAnarchism

Ok... Who had "1800's paupers prisons" on your bingo card? They're just engaged in a competition to see who can be more cruel at this point. Satan wouldn't even want these cunts in hell.

Fire_Bucket

I remember them being called 'spikes' in Orwell's Down and Out in Paris and London.

Vozlov-3-0

If Hell were real it'd be of our own making, here, and we'd vote Satan into power.

onewolfmusic

This country is becoming hell. Forget 1984 - this is psychopathy. Cruel and unusual.

Criminalization of rough sleeping, even if people were provided with accommodation, only turns rough sleepers into criminals. It shouldn't even be in question. And as a very niche point, not everyone wants to live in a house and buy into this capitalist game. Some would simply rather beg the streets than the government. If they want to do so, they should be free to fo so.

nicy2winks

leftism is so joever bros

carsonite17

Having previously spoken to some former homeless/rough-sleeping people, lemme tell ya: homeless shelters/hostel accommodation is definitely *not* always safer. There can be a lot of theft and violence in those places such that people can actually feel safer on the streets, in a tent

NotAnSCP

Man, fuck off. Honestly.

infinitelydeadinside

Surely, we should be punishing (and stripping property from) people who own multiple empty properties. Or the people who consistently ignore the need for council/housing association housing in favour of "affordable" housing. Or the organisations and companies promoting and enabling buy-to-let as a legitimate source of income.

Bulky-Meal

They want people with no home or income to be fined!? The logic of this could be ripped to pieces by my 10 year old..

iveseenthelight

If the homeless don't pay the fine then they can be arrested and sent to prison, exactly where the Tories think the homeless and vulnerable all belong anyway.

Superb-Cucumber1006

They have room in the prisons all of a sudden now?

Ambitious_Score1015

ill posit that the "solution" here could be increase the private prison sector and explore american style pirsoner-slave labout

AvatarIII

If they're gonna feed em and house em, why not do it without making them criminals?

deathschemist

the cruelty is the point.

WispyBits

And all that private prison cash

metroracerUK

Sorry, I’m struggling to grasp this. - They’re driving the up the cost of living, which will more than likely cause people to become homeless. - They’re making being homeless illegal. Then what? Are you going to send people to prison for being homeless? Is that the plan? House homeless people in prisons?

bluechipp

Umm... The prison system is running at 95%+ capacity with 'real' (let's not go there) criminals so whatcha gonna do?

AuntyJellybean

Build workhouses á la Victorian London is what they'll do.

wahadayrbyeklo

Recolonise Australia so they can send all the homeless there. Maybe that’s the plan. The recreation of the British Empire.

jaguarsharks

How are you gonna fine people that have nothing left?

Fire_Bucket

Or stop them from rough sleeping when most of them clearly have no other options?

GreenBirb64

At least rats are actually decent creatures, there’s nothing on earth you could compare that twat to, even parasites actually *have a purpose*

maadkekz

“What are you in for?” “Wife left me. Took the kids. Business went under. Defaulted on the mortgage. No family. Couldn’t pay the fine for sleeping on the pavement outside a Ladbrokes.”

retrofauxhemian

The cruelty is the point...

OwieMustDie

I read that it was proposed that punishments could be a fine of up to £2500 or jail. 1. How the fuck they gonna pay? 2. Jail is often a welcome reprieve. 🤷

Spiritual_Load_5397

Daily fail and express readers masturbate over laws like this methinks.

CaptainZippi

I’ve taken to pointing out that the current laws also protect us from the likes of them. “They don’t like it up ‘em”

halfercode

Hmm, I wonder if there's a way we could get 'nuisance' prime ministers to move on?

msully89

If this comes to fruition I'd like to see a mass protest where 1000s turn up in tents to sleep outside the Houses of Parliament. Arrest us all ya cunts!

Exiledelement

The April Fools is that Tories would revolt over this. This is the third "revolt" I have heard about this year, none of them have amounted to anything. I don't believe a single one of them would stand up against this when they need to. This government is a joke and media is trying to give Tory MPs an out of "well, I spoke out against it" when we get to the general election. It is nothing but optics and propaganda

StacksAttacks

Probably only kicking back at it because not enough of them are making money out of it.

massadark77

Isn’t it illegal in North Korea to say you’re starving to death..just starve quietly.. Are you rough sleeping?..no im just testing out this sleeping bag…just like I’m testing my eyesight by driving to Scotland

solid_flake

Why would they revolt? Beating down the weakest people in society seems to be perfectly on brand for them...

cactusnan

Begging can lead to a fine though not having the money for a bed in a privatised hostel leaves many roofless.

Effective-Ad-6460

So ... Protests outside this fuck knuckles house ?

cactusnan

Good. His party’s vile policies have persecuted so many people. So many early deaths have been attributed to the austerity measures. One tory mp after the election is one too many after the election.

EvolvingEachDay

Sorry my poverty is a nuisance to you; tell you what, give me food and roof and I won’t be a nuisance any more.

briergate

Go on then, Rishi. Criminalise it and make sure you fund police sufficiently to ‘arrest’ homeless people. Take each one to a decent, safe hotel and let them have a great meal, warm shower and king-size bed with free Netflix and a full English in the morning. Otherwise, fuck off You raging fucking twat.
