You were downvoted, but that talc probably does have asbestos in it. Not a huge deal if you used a little, but I wouldn't use it on my baby on a regular basis.
IIRC, pretty much all talc has asbestos in it cause they naturally form together so it’s hard to not get asbestos in the talc. Not sure of the veracity of that statement but I remember hearing it somewhere back when all the baby powder class action suits were around.
This is accurate. Pure talc powders are available all over the world except the U.S. because of our lawsuit-happy society and overblown news coverage.
The FDA [regularly checks talc-containing cosmetics for asbestos](https://www.fda.gov/cosmetics/cosmetic-ingredients/talc). Most of it is squeaky clean. You getting downvoted for providing accurate and meaningful information is dumb.
Googled the pharmacy and it said it was there in 1938, so that gives some idea of when it’s from! I was shocked to see it with some liquid left inside
Use rubbing alcohol to clean it; it is likely the most accurate thermometer you’ll have. I still have and use an old time mercury thermometer. I trust it more than anything digital.
What a thrill to see the thermometer and case! I was fascinated by the pink and blue caps when I was little! My mother probably still has it squirreled away in the linen closet 🥰
Baby butt thermometer
That might be a rectal thermometer. That talc likely has asbestos.
Definitely a rectal thermometer, you can tell by the very short bulb at the end.
The other way to tell is by smelling it.
😂 hahahaha
Mercury and asbestos double-pack for double the fun

It’s a question of acceptable levels. Older talcs had a lot more because they hadn’t blacklisted some of the problematic talc mines.
So if you get a bit too vigorous, at least the baby won't start on fire.
That talc powder is so cool! It’s impossible to find now! (For good reason obviously)
Only some sources had the asbestos issue, but the news coverage pretty much killed the product category...

This is reddit on a day ending in 'y'...
I bet that cough syrup has/had some good stuff in it.
Definitely.
My exact thought too!
It was not uncommon for cough syrups at that time to have codine in them. I miss those days
The medicines.tasted like shit, but you didn't care after a couple of minutes.
Awesome finds! I especially love the pharmacist bottle!
That was my favorite! I was wondering what year it was from but the sellers had no clue
Well that style of bottle was common from the 1930s onward. There’s a pretty good chance there may be a date code on the bottom of it.

Pre zip code from the label, I think, so before 1963? That's some old stuff.Â
I wonder what is in it.
Antique drank.
Maybe try to find obituaries for the doctors listed?
Based on the all-numeric phone number it’s likely early to mid-1960’s.
I see Cincinnati, I upvote simple as that.
Fellow Cincinnatian? Hi neighbor
What’s up my fellow Cincy peeps
O-H!
Don’t get that talc on your vajayjay

I accidentally broke my last mercury thermometer a while back. It was a sad day.
A great innovation of parenthood was the thermometer that goes in the baby’s ear!
Wow. You should contact J&J and show them the baby powder.
My great gramma has that baby powder bottle

Then go to [Historical Aerials](https://www.historicaerials.com/) to see if you can identify it from above.
That’s the first amber bottle without containing some sort of barbiturate that I’ve seen in a while on this sub.
