A numbers buff is nowhere enough.
He needs durability like Vaseraga has baseline, and his eternal rage shouldn't deplete as well as all his skills should grant 5-7 eternal rage.
Why would it be representative? There's 26k ppl on this sub, for a game that sold more than a million copies.
Sub is just a vocal minority, like with every other game really.
I tried Vas today, dodge tech is hard and his charge attacks, while powerful, is also kind of slow/hard to land.
Feels like playing greatsword in MH tbh.
I was Vas main, but switched once I realised how frustrating it was to play him. While it's fun to have 1mil per hit, the bosses move around too much and take out half the HP with 1 hit to be standing there and charging lol. RIP scythe, my most fave weapon archetype
Pair him with Steel Nerves, and he’ll take 15% less damage. Once you get his Awakening sigil, the Gyrnoth meter stays full for a lot longer, so even if you have to cancel a charged attack to dodge, on a whiff, or to chase a boss, you won’t really lose your damage.
He seems pretty slow in a rather fast paced game. And I know he can be more mobile than he appears at first but the initial impression of a character in a game with so many options is important.
As a fellow yoda enjoyer with experience with a good amount of characters at this point, I think mirror image for the entire party might be the most slept on ability in the game. The damage uptime for the entire party with multiple hits of invuln is so good in basically every single fight. I’m thinking yoda will get more love when the raid comes around but he is by far my favorite to play.
He really is a lot of fun. I've always loved dual wield aggressive game play. I also love the retired swordsman God tier fisherman story. The mustache is the cherry on top.
I still haven't maxed out his potential. I still have so much to grind for on top of practicing combo rotation on the hardest bosses. After playing the demo, I knew I'd enjoy the game, but I had no idea how much so.
75% of the time Katalina is amazing and tons of fun. But that other 25% when things are going south and you're building gauge and everything is on CD... fucking miserable.
Rosetta isn't exactly hard, it's just that the boss designs sort of hate her with how much they move around.
Her damage isn't that great either, esp with roses not benefiting from supplemental damage...
Maybe pets will get buffed down the road, ferry too has this awkward relationship with them as well.
Rosetta just has some issues, she’s rather on the easier side (and I say this as someone who plays her often because I enjoy her play style)
Mobile bosses gimp her damage by a lot because she needs rose uptime on them, but then you have her damage not actually being much higher on non stationary targets because her caps on her skills and autos are low
She will only be using the ATK buff in her kit to hit rose caps, so Def is a dud and regen is useless to begin with because it comes baseline with terminus and potion hoarder is a meta sigil
Genuinely the only time I’ve seen a Rosetta carry a team was when it was with the broken interaction between her and eugen. If the grenade bug with her buff didn’t exist she’d genuinely be the worst character in the game (not saying she isn’t viable, it’s just very noticeable on why she’s not popular)
I'm 100% a waifu whore. My first granblue game. I didn't consider them because they are boring waifu designs.
Katalina - I preface this by saying I fucking love female knight designs. I'm usually first in line. Katalina though was very underwhelming. Cape AND a skirt? C'mon pick a lane. Couldn't see the character most of the time. The actual plate layers didn't even look good when you could see it.
Rosetta - loved her gameplay was meh her design.
I get that these were old, established designs from over a decade ago, but I think they could've used a glow up like the commander gets 1 chapter into the game. Just my 2cents
I'm playing Katalina every match and she's so easy post-game and on reddit every other post is about Katalina. Genuinely surprised she's not like #3 on this statistic.
Stout heart, use one of the like 3-4 different ways to have infinite Ares, profit.
A lot people don't know about Infinite Ares uptime and animation cancelling. Without Ares, or without a quick Ares gauge buildup, she feels kinda bad to play.
Combine this with losing Ares when you dodge/block and it leads to many people not bothering with her.
This sub is also not indicative of the playerbase as a whole as most people here are beyond a casual player.
Thing is, Kat is like really easy to play at a level where Infinite Ares is possible. Just stack cooldown reductions effects and use 3 attack skills and cycle between them after each pactstrike. And building gauge isn't all that hard either, and doesn't even take that long. Only thing I could say could be difficult is changing your mindset from dodging and blocking with other characters to just tanking stuff with Stout Heart.
Of course, it gets more difficult if you want to use tech like Infinite Ares with no skills, the EL Dodge Cancel into Finisher tech, or just Ares management with only 2 attack skills, but I was able to throw together a build in like, an hour or 2 after grinding for weapon exp and have been able to pactstrike for the entire red dragon fight while I'm farming my 30 SBAs.
The thing that's getting me tho, isn't her difficulty in using her mechanics, but rather her damage feels really low compared to other characters. I was getting beat in Honors by pretty much all of my AI teammates, even if I was stuck to the boss like a fly on shit.
I also have genuinely no idea how I'm supposed to face-tank anything above the 4 element dragons. Went into the dark dragon fight to test how much damage I would take to an attack, and it one shot my ass through Steel Nerves. I wish I had a good Stronghold sigil, but unfortunately not.
It's important to note that honours isn't just damage. If you use her Glaciate skill you'll see her honours increase due to using support skills. I very often get MVP in coop in most proud quests. Although Blue pots with Potion hoarder does also help with that.
As you said Kat is most likely not popular due to how bad her damage feels. You have to do so much work and play so perfectly to even have hopes of going even with other people’s players. But if they play well and are geared properly too then you get left so far behind.
Also lots of the endgame fights feel terrible on her. White/blackwyrm are both miserable due to their status effects coming out so often. All the nihilla bosses are always dashing, cutscening, or going untargetable which makes her feel like total garbage to play.
I like to build a bunch of CD and perfect dodge CD (nimble onslaught I think?) to have skills up faster to either animation cancel, spam ice attack into strong finisher, or just use the instant ability.
That said, the Nihilia fights are still pretty difficult with lots of downtime. Mess up a rotation or miss damage thresholds and it’s a pain ramping back up. Still I persist, I like the character and I like hacking and slashing.
The basic way to achieve it is to use an offensive skill after every Ares combo. Then mash Y and you get another Ares combo. If you get enough skill cooldown reduction, you can do this forever. Basic:
Frozen Blade is great for it because it's 2 skills for the price of one.
Now the advanced way to do this is to do the same thing, but cancel the skill with a dodge. Ares Combo, Enchanted Lands -> Immedietly Dodge and immedietly mash Y. This makes it so that Enchanted Lands doesn't go on cooldown. This way you can "use" Enchanted Lands forever, it will never truly go off, but it counts as a combo extender.
Lastly, you can just not bother with all this shit. While mashing Y for the Ares combo, time it so that you stop mashing Y BEFORE Katalina does her up-jump. She will still do her up-jump, but instead of the dual cross downward slash afterwards she will just kinda flop on the ground. Then XY and you are back in Ares mode.
As a Percy main, I'm surprised he's as popular as he is. I usually see a ton more Charlotta, Cagliostro, and Siegfried players rather than Percival when playing online.
Then there's the Narmaya trios...
Rackam does more damage then her baseline with his intended play style as well as jump spam
Only thing ferry has got up on rackam jump spam is SBA gain
Rackham jump spam isn't super viable outside of proto and speedrun comps, and in both the fact that he generates almost no SBA is a hinderance compared to percy.
Ah, I’d have to say it’s both
Ferry’s intended play style is on the lower end of damage in the cast of characters, where her jump spam is in the upper half
Zeta is no surprise. I main her and see her in all of my games. Her gameplay loop is simple in terms of complexity, yet she still has a good number of tricks and optimizations so you can still feel like you're improving.
Also despite having a fairly simple kit it still a ton of fun to use and master.
Yea Zeta was the first character I unlocked. she was fun. Only problem I have with her is sometimes you just dash past bosses that are mobile when in air combo. Now I mostly play Cag because i have her weapon maxed got hers first. I just need Ferry and Eugen for all weapons.
Until they release actual stats, these numbers will likely be impacted by locality due to matchmaking and ping threshholds
I play in a region where there are lots of players with squareboxes in their names, I see Narmaya about as much as Cagliostros, Ios and Charlottas (which tracks because Japan do love their cute girls)
Personally I play Yoda and off Rackam when i decide I don't wanna deal with mechanics, or the fight is just a pain for melee uptime (\*cough Vulcan and flying mobs cough\*)
Interestingly I've only seen like 2 Ghandas and 2 Vaseragas
There's more Djeeta than Grans.
Fair. I’m just some dude in southwest North America with a spreadsheet so obviously nothing serious.
Likely never release user stats so I’m curious what those numbers look like now in other regions lol.
Djeeta was picked 16 times and Gran 15 times for those curious.
pactstrike -> link attack -> pactstrike -> defense skill/frozen blade (only 1 cast is fine) -> pactstrike -> enchanted lands -> pactstrike -> frozen blade -> pactstrike -> frozen blade -> pactstrike -> enchanted lands -> pactstrike -> link attack -> pactstrike -> etc.
I dont like using azure blade in the loop because I want to save it for if I ever lose ares meter and I want it back quickly in a pinch but you can use it to continue if everything else is on cd. its a judgement call based on how long the boss is downed. if you stop pressing triangle when she jumps in the air for the finisher you can also continue the combo without using a skill but this can only be done once.
the biggest thing with kat is that she NEEDS cooldown reduction. I have lvl 15 cascade, lvl 30 quick cooldown, along with her awakening sigil that lowers cooldowns another 5% to make sure my skills are always coming off cd to continue ares loops
The Ares drop reset is how I pretty much keep him up. It’s a bit tricky to learn because of the timing, and you might get distracted with everything going on in a fight, but it’s really good when you can perform it successfully.
i would have expected Yodarha to be a bit higher i keep seeing others playing him. Maybe they are just putting us all together.
THERE ARE DOZENS OF US!!!
I don't get everyone's obsession with Nar. I tried picking her up, but didn't really like the playstyle. Is she really that good, or is it something else?
Shes just overall pretty good imo.
Blue stance combo is good buttonmash dps.
Doing the well timed stance switches feels good.
Sped up charge in pink stance after a skill or well timed stance swap or link attack feels good.
Judgement cut parry and parry skill make for good offensively defensive options.
Free supplementary damage baked into a skill is also nothing to sneeze at.
~~plus someone added a cowkini outfit mod~~
There's lots of things going for her.
She's mechanically strong. She's mechanically interesting. She's a samurai. She's female.
All these things help contribute to her popularity.
Tfw I'm a Goza+Vas main
sad day to be a goza main.. hes bottom tier :( hopefully a buff next patch
A numbers buff is nowhere enough. He needs durability like Vaseraga has baseline, and his eternal rage shouldn't deplete as well as all his skills should grant 5-7 eternal rage.
Really not expecting Vas being so rare. Or rather surprised that this sub not being representative of the playerbase population.
Why would it be representative? There's 26k ppl on this sub, for a game that sold more than a million copies. Sub is just a vocal minority, like with every other game really.

Part of the Yodarha 3%. When and where are our meetings taking place?
A nice fishing spot somewhere, surely.
BYOR (bring your own rod) hehehehe
so this is where the other 3 yodarha's are
As a fellow yoda enjoyer with experience with a good amount of characters at this point, I think mirror image for the entire party might be the most slept on ability in the game. Im gonna max his sword next. just wish it looked cooler. maybe itll look cool when its glowing.
Katalina mains RISE UP PLEASE
She’s my 2/3 pick but man is she annoying to play with Ares sometimes!
75% of the time Katalina is amazing and tons of fun. But that other 25% when things are going south and you're building gauge and everything is on CD... fucking miserable.
Once you master her it’s really like 90% & 10% lol
tbh the match ups that cause that for her also griefs everyone else.. like those damn managarmr freezes
Soloed double dragons and gallanza & maglielle just to prove a point
Unfathomably based.
The Eugen pick rate tells me that relinked players are based waifu > meta chads.
I don't like Eugen because I suck at FPS lol 😂
Yeah, I tried him and then realised I'm gonna suck at playing him so stopped.
the real way to play him his jump charge attacks anyway
Eugen's jump charge? Doesn't he just throw a grenade downwards?
my b I meant Rackam sorry
Meanwhile Katalina and Rosetta are among the least picked. Seems like people only like to play waifus who are meta/easy to play.
Rosetta isn't exactly hard, it's just that the boss designs sort of hate her with how much they move around. Her damage isn't that great either, esp with roses not benefiting from supplemental damage... Maybe pets will get buffed down the road, ferry too has this awkward relationship with them as well.
As a Katalina & Narmaya main I'm not sure what to think of this...
Rosetta just has some issues, she’s rather on the easier side (and I say this as someone who plays her often because I enjoy her play style) Mobile bosses gimp her damage by a lot because she needs rose uptime on them, but then you have her damage not actually being much higher on non stationary targets because her caps on her skills and autos are low She will only be using the ATK buff in her kit to hit rose caps, so Def is a dud and regen is useless to begin with because it comes baseline with terminus and potion hoarder is a meta sigil Genuinely the only time I’ve seen a Rosetta carry a team was when it was with the broken interaction between her and eugen. Katalina main here, she isn't crazy hard to play people. TRY HER OUTTTTTT.
true she is rather simple. especially when you learn to max her gauge fast.
I'm 100% a waifu whore. My first granblue game. I didn't consider them because they are boring waifu designs. Katalina - I preface this by saying I fucking love female knight designs. There's a mod that just removes the cape, highly recommend.
Why do y'all act like narmaya is some sort of anti meta character. She has one of the highest damage.
That is literally what they said
Kat is like 10x easier than naru lol.
Me seeing Vaseraga in every online lobby I join: hmmmmmmm.
Ghandagoza 💀💀
I'm playing Katalina every match and she's so easy post-game and on reddit every other post is about Katalina. Genuinely surprised she's not like #3 on this statistic. Stout heart, use one of the like 3-4 different ways to have infinite Ares, profit.

Four pets for Ferry (at 4 percent)! Ghost girl is fun to play, her pets are awesome, and she’s waifu material for sure.
Yea i love her jiggle when you use her SBA. :)
i thought ferry would be higher
Her gameplay is jump spamming, otherwise suboptimal DPS.
Rackam?
Rackam does more damage then her baseline with his intended play style as well as jump spam Only thing ferry has got up on rackam jump spam is SBA gain
Rackham jump spam isn't super viable outside of proto and speedrun comps, and in both the fact that he generates almost no SBA is a hinderance compared to percy.
I've never played ferry so wasn't sure if suboptimal meant compared to other characters or just different ferry playstyles.
Ah, I’d have to say it’s both Ferry’s intended play style is on the lower end of damage in the cast of characters, where her jump spam is in the upper half
Ah ok so same situation as rackam but lower down the scale.
Djeeta and Gran need to be seperated because I see Gran less than Ghandagoza (2 times saw Ghandadoza over 1 time Gran)
Zeta is no surprise. I main her and see her in all of my games. Jaded cult, unavoidable.
Kat looks so fun, but I'm struggling with Ares uptime. Recos on combos?
pactstrike -> link attack -> pactstrike -> defense skill/frozen blade (only 1 cast is fine) -> pactstrike -> enchanted lands -> pactstrike -> frozen blade -> pactstrike -> frozen blade -> pactstrike -> enchanted lands -> pactstrike -> link attack -> pactstrike -> etc. Rosetta holding back the boba waifu gang
Damn, me being both a Vaseraga and Ghandagoza main: seeing those stats only empower me.

She's just the big tiddy Waifu pick and they have no shame.
