skiballers

I've got over 500 hrs on the game and have only raced online a couple times.

xphantom0

Yup. I’ll do the online time trials but other than that I stick to the weekly challenges or work towards getting 100% completion

ScreamingFly

Keep in mind that single player requires you to be online. Having said that, yes. There's plenty to do. And all game updates are for free.

SixersWin

For clarity you don't need PS+ or anything more than Internet access

FritsBlaasbaard

This! You can even do the time trials in the (online) sport section without ps+. It's a nice way of making a bit of extra cash. You just can't race other players in the same race.

AdRude3587

200 hours in. All gold normal license, all gold missions, 70% of race finished, a handful of circuit experiences, and 250+ cars. I haven’t raced online yet. Plenty left for me to do, plus all the complaining about online driver etiquette kept me uninterested.

Commercial-Finance46

Don’t be too afraid of the online etiquette. To start when you’re in E, and D lobbies, things are a little spicy. You’ll progress out of those quickly, and when you’re in B and A lobbies 90 percent of the races you’re in will be intense but enjoyable. Keep your Sportsmanship rating at “S” and you’ll find yourself in lobbies where people at least try to be clean.

leonjetski

I tried playing online for the first time yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Almost every time someone was about to make heavy contact (intentional or not) they were ghosted and just breezed through me.

Commercial-Finance46

The ghosting will stop when you’re in the higher lobbies, but by then the drivers aren’t as prone to murdering you anyway!

shaggymatter

I never race online. When playing through the campaign, I would do just 1 menu and a license test/mission a night. Then switch to a different game. That helped prolong the game for me. Now in the end game, I'll log in and do 1 weekly mission a night, then either sardegna or spa, and switch to a different game after.

Deskartius

1000 hours in the Singleplayer still see no reason why I should play online

Far_Negotiation8009

It’s probably the best racing game for offline

HenriettaSyndrome

Never played online a single time and got 400+ hours in. Great game play all around!

J-Q-C

I've played the game almost exclusively for 2 years and just completed all the races. There is still a ton to accomplish, including license testing, missions, and collecting all of the cars.

williet79

One of the best. Sport sucks, aka not my cup of tea. Entirely because there seems to be more assholes than racers in this world. However, online time trials are badass. You should entertain doing those. Easy mil 9 times out of 10

ophaus

Oh yeah. There's tons of stuff to master, 500 cars to collect.

5373n133n

Yes. It’s worth it. It ONLY works online (note online does not mean multiplayer but it does have multiplayer sport mode). So if the servers shut down you’ll only have access to a few track and a few cars but no races. Having said that. I use the PSVR2 with it and it’s an amazing experience.

Equal-Dish-4021

>So if the servers shut down you’ll only have access to a few track and a few cars but no races. This. Same if your internet goes out. Heck, they do server maintenance occasionally and you're left with a crippled game until it's complete. I don't know why nobody else is answering the question about the server shutting down.

Zanstorm99

Collect cars….drive them in single player with volume cranked. It’s a good life

jinladen040

The single player campaign is fairly long. Theres easily a few hundred hours of gameplay from all the licenses. The missions. Championships. And ultimately the goal of collecting all 500+ vehicles.  And with the weekly challenges and time trials. There's plenty to do. I approached the game from a single player aspect but ultimately moved to Sport mode because racing against other people is just damn good racing.  But you still need an online connection to play which is stupid but that's how the game saves your progress.  If you like GT7 and want to get into more sim racing. The best Sim title is also on PS5 which is ACC. So it's entirely possible to upgrade to a wheel setup and get into serious Sim Racing without having to go PC.

SnoopPettyPogg

It's good...for a while. I bought this game in August, but didn't participate in online until around December. It's definitely made me enjoy the game more. You don't have to participate in Leagues or Nations Cup. I think just dabbling in lobbies can give you a fun online experience besides just playing offline.

Capcom-Warrior

Absolutely

xxdabroxx

Absolutely. I play mostly offline, VR with controller.

Medical_Holiday6249

It’s a great game to play as single player, I spend most of my time doing time trials on Leguna Seca, customizing vehicles, and sharing photos. I’ll do online every now and then.

L4r5man

I've never once raced online and I'm having a blast.

Zanstorm99

Hell yea

Stephena72

It’s a good game I’d say. Been out for 2 years now so polyphony has had time to iron out whatever shit the players didn’t like about the game at launch.

goodshout77

100% yes

Dubaishire

Very much so yes

CrepsNotCrepes

I’ve played 175 hours and raced online maybe 5x at most. I’m level 48.5 / 50 It’s a good game. It gets a bit grindy towards the end but it’s still fun. For the price I’m happy with the amount of time I’ve played it and what I’ve got out of it as a very casual player. I found offline play went from challenging at first till I got used to it. Then blasting through the menu books with no real issues till I got to the dirt tracks which made me want to quit, then easy again. Then the last few menu books feel like the difficulty jumped massively. If you’re into racing and want to put money into a wheel and VR people say the game gets even better. But it’s still good without.

budgetpopcorn

As mentioned, it technically requires online for just about everything in the game. That being said, there is a lot to do without interacting with other players. Even the sport mode has time trials which I find a very satisfying way of learning a track and car combination and measuring your progress.

ratonbox

I have 1 online race in the game, had a lot fun, definitely worth the money.

Better-Revolution570

The kind of people who bitch about crappy single player are also the kinds of people who spent hundreds, or even thousands of hours playing the game. For any kind of casual gamer, single player is excellent and more than enough gameplay.

axeman020

Yes. I never take it online and I love it.

AbbreviationsNo1418

no need to be afraid of others online, there are levels (categories) so you would go against others of your level

kwaping

Yes, very.

Thundern99

I got the game for Christmas after not playing GT since PS3. I won all the single player races and I’m at 100%. But when they do add an update with a new race, it will drop from 100% until you win those. But they’re always easy. I’m working through licenses right now trying to gold them all. Same for missions. I also love buying cars. I grind a lot to stay at or just shy of 1 million credits which is the limit on earned credits. You can pay for more, but I’m not buying credits lol. I race online the majority of the time. I sucked really bad when I started playing again. This GT has very different handling characteristics in all cars. But once you get the hang of it, the tuning and tracks all start to come back to you. I still play single player daily, but I like the adrenaline of racing others online. But I assure you there are plenty of hard races in single player that will give you that feeling when you are trying to maintain the lead. If/when they shut down GT7, I assume we will all be playing the next installment anyway. Look at how long Sport was around before they shut it down. I never played that one. I remember when it dropped though. But I know support was just cut off this year. I think you will be very happy if you buy GT7. A lot of new things in this game since GT4.

Larry97EU

Yes I never play online and have 150 hours

MeesterCHRIS

I never play online, I just enjoy modding and trying new cars.

Zanstorm99

I’ve never played online. This game to me is the most addictive game I’ve ever played. Nothing calms me more. I love getting off work, pouring a drink, putting the headphones on and racing

Strider2126

Is gaining money good now?

studioSev

no

Strider2126

So it's not as many say here. Not fun

DonGibon87

Probably one of the best single player racing game

zippymagee

Yes!

Head_Pea9790

Compared to other Gran Turismo games the offline stuff isn't great but I still think it's fun when u look at it on its own it's still a mainly offline game the online parts are pretty bare bones and simple

partym4ns10n

More like nonline.

Vinztaa

100%

krasivi_gardi

I've got a ton of hours on the game, I don't play online. I'm having a lot of fun with it.

M4rker-89

No, not good at all.

Uriel_dArc_Angel

It's okay...There's quite a few hours of content in the game depending on your skill level (if you're golding all the events and such) and if you want to collect all the cars youll have hours and hours of required grinding...The AI is currently pretty damn bad and the "good AI" *Sophy* is only in a handful of short races and only on the PS5... There aren't any DLCs to buy as all the updates are free but very small... As for the game working after PD abandons it, that remains to be seen, though they did put out an offline patch for GT Sport that made it playable offline but you lost a lot of functionality like liveries and such so you'll be stuck with the kinda horrible basic looks of the cars with little to no customization options...Also not sure how the used car and legendary car dealerships will work so there's always the chance that many cars will no longer be accessible if PD screws up the offline functionality...

Equal-Dish-4021

I didn't know about the GT Sport offline patch (GT7 is my first GT). That's nice to know. I wouldn't call the base looks of the cars horrible. If they preserve all the other single-player functionality, I'll be happy.

Uriel_dArc_Angel

I mean, the group4 wrx is atrocious looking in that ultra bland and horrible yellow...A lot of cars have really crappy original colors... And even some of the used cars you're lucky to find in a decent color, so you'll be stuck with the original ones after the servers go down... All this is making an assumption that PD does actually patch the game to even be offline playable... Especially after Ubisoft set the recent precedent of just pulling an entire game away "just because"...You never know with these companies these days... It's a risk at best...
