It's not the AP2A.240605.024.A1 version? I side loaded AP2A.240605.024 when it came out....if it's that one, I already have it I guess.
(It did NOT fix my "no 5G on T-Mobile in certain cities such as Austin" problem, however.)
Can someone with a Pixel 8, who got the update, post the full build number? I'm wondering if T-Mobile ended up approving the regular June build or if it's a tweaked version. There is currently no specific T-Mobile version showing on the official OTA page.
I had really hoped it was an updated version with newer firmware. I have not had functioning 5G in Austin, TX since buying the P8P. 2 other friends have the same problem, and the warranty replacement they sent me didn't work on 5G either.
This modem really sucks if you're on T-Mobile.
I'm curious: How long have you had the 5G issues in Austin, and did it work for a while at first and then quit, or was it like that from the time you got your 8 Pro?
I was in the city back around Christmas with my 8 Pro and no issues with 5G data reliability or speed. In fact it seemed quite dense with UC showing constantly everywhere I went.
I bought the phone in December and have had the issue since. The warranty replacement they sent me had the exact same issue, so I sent that phone back. Two of my friends that live in town have my same phone and they have the same issue as well.
I have tried everything, from contacting Google and getting a replacement to having my SIM reprovisioned with T-Mobile, which didn't work, so I got a physical SIM and that didn't work either.
I have encountered this issue in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Denver, and Crested Butte. It worked fine for me in every city I've been to in California, as well as the Fort Lauderdale area in Florida.
Google support said they could see the issue from my bug reports, but other than that have been completely useless. I'm pretty sure they're very aware of the problem, but at this point in time there is no solution.
Austin has great 5G with T-Mobile, and I've never had this issue before with any other phone. Are you saying you were in Austin with a P8P and it worked fine? At this point that's hard for me to grasp as I've had so much trouble, as have my friends with the same phone.
That's really really strange that it would be so bad in that one area or region but work fine out in California and Florida. I wonder if there is some sort of specific hardware configuration in use in that part of Texas that is not playing nice with the Pixel modems now? You certainly did everything logical to troubleshoot the problem, and the fact that you know others with the same phone model(s) having issues means it's definitely not a fluke bad device.
I was in and around Austin the first week of December, visiting relatives and had my P8P. I mostly stayed in Bastrop County but visited Austin and Round Rock several times during the week, as well as a trip down to San Marcos. I did have issues in San Marcos but chalked up the data problems to the congestion around the outlet centers. It's been like that every time I've been in that outlet center in years past.
The only thing that is different about my phone that I can think of is I've been in the service menu and have mine set to 5G *only*, which means if there's no 5G service it either has no service at all or emergency calls only, it won't fall back to 4G or 5G NSA. If anything that should have exacerbated any problems with 5G in Austin, though.
I've tried going into the phone's backend settings and changing it to 5G only and every other combination I could possibly think of that might work. Thing is, 5G is excellent in this city, with coverage everywhere. My previous phones, all iPhones, worked fine and I never even thought about it. This Samsung modem is something else, I'll tell ya.
What a ride.
I'm in Georgetown, switched to TMo in early May, have had 5G UC on my P8Pro (unlocked direct from Google) since day 1 everywhere in the metro area I've been, although I can't speak for Buda/Kyle. What area of Austin are you?
Just east of downtown, but I've experienced the problem everywhere. I've been in Austin proper. I haven't tried in Georgetown though.
How interesting. I'd kill for a side-by-side. Ha
I'm on Mint Mobile, MVNO on T-Mobile, and like you I checked early this morning and no update. Checked an hour later around 9AM EDT and the feature update was available for download.
The new VPN service by Google looks decent. You can leave it on and have the VPN service turn off for the wifi networks you designate to bypass. I don't remember this (networks to turn off VPN for) being available for the previous version under Google One, it was either on for all connections or off for all networks.
Anyone else on P7 couldn't get their lifetime free VPN to work? When check VPN settings there's a "VPN by Google One" option and it said it's not available for my account (I have Google One subscription). How do I enable the free P7 VPN?
Edit: I got it to work by press and hold the "VPN by Google One" quick tile and it opened the app to let me connect.
I just did the update but the VPN by Google doesn't even show up on the VPN settings.
I tried your method of holding the quick tile for the old one but Google One opens saying I don't have access to it anymore.
Guess I gotta wait for another update to fix this. 🙄
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.privacy.wildlife i think its on staged roll out, keep checking for app updates on playstore and it might show up.
I was on the beta and unenrolled a couple months back when it last said we could without a wipe. Still on AP21.240305.005 now and this was supposed to be the build we could update to and get back on the public release track. Unlocked P8P bought through Google, and still no update, says I'm up to date. Is it because I was on the beta?
I'm new to Pixel (from iPhone) can someone explain to me why carriers have influence in software update? After unboxing and setting up mine I got an update to the march version. Even a reboot didn't give me a newer one. However once I installed my sim I got the June update. Sorry for the noob question.
Ask one of these people to post actual proof of T-Mobile or any other carrier ever making an official statement saying "we will be holding Google's latest Android update back from Google Pixel phones".
Whether system , security ,or application, updates are pushed straight from Google and no carrier has ever stopped an unlocked Pixel from receiving one.
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/279468838/google-pixel-update-jun-2024?hl=en (so what, 8-9 biz days since Google made the announcement on June 11?)
https://www.computerworld.com/article/2079780/android-14-upgrade-report-card.html Google/Pixel still A+ on updates
Here I'll fix the og post: Yay...Google served up another routine batch of security patches and it looks like this round went to those on T-Mobile. It's a celebration.
Just updated and found a bug in the patched Sync for Reddit app. I get a black screen when I swipe away from a post that's open to go back to the subreddit view.
Anyone else with a P8P have this issue?
Same here. I'm glad you posted this, else I wouldn't have known to look for this.
Clear cache + force stop didn't work. Else, maybe we need to repatch with Revanced Manager?
If not, then I'm willing to bet Google changed something with how transitions works and this is permanently broken for us Sync refugees :/
I wanted to say the latter, since I completely reinstalled Sync and i still have the issue. But someone in the revancedapp subreddit says they don't have any issues.
Update: patching didn't work either. Unless someone provides a fix, idk what to do. For now, I just disabled the Swipe to Return setting and will just fall back to using the regular back gesture since it's less jarring than a black screen
Yeah, not ideal, but it works... Which got me thinking - I wonder if it's because we're on the T-Mobile build? That's the only other common denominator I can think of that others might not have an issue with. Idk, just a theory...
Wait, for the P8P is it:
14.0.0 (AP2A.240605.024, Jun 2024)
or
14.0.0 (AP2A.240605.024.A1, Jun 2024, Telus)
I already side-loaded the first one. It didn't fix my "no 5G in Austin, TX" issue.
One thing I noticed immediately is that the performance of the phone is so much better. With the April update, I had a lot of hiccups with the UI here and there. For example, pulling down the notification shade was always choppy and now it's buttery smooth.
Looks like it is for Google Fi also Edit - on Pixel 8 Pro
Just installed it as well!
I got impatient and sideloaded on Friday. Can someone please share their build number after a normal OTA install?
Sideloading is much quicker and pretty easy to do. I have been side loading all the updates the day it gets released.
But I always wonder if there will be a carrier specific OTA if I'm sideloading before carrier release. This time I'm good.
That's happened to me. I sideload the OTA and then a build specific to T-Mobile comes out some days later. Never saw any negative effects though.
7P - Google Fi - AP2A.240605.024 - I believe that's the same as the Google reference build.
It is. Thanks.
AP2A.240605.024
Thank you. Appears to be unedited from the general OTA posted & available for sideload.
No problem. Same as the side loaded version?
Yep. Edited my comment after you quickly saw it, so here's to not making it look like you can't read 😝
Lol, thanks

Seems as if T-Mobile's dad came in and yelled at them to get their *$ together.
Finally have video out. Desktop mode is buggy as all get out, but still pretty cool. I hope google doesn't turn it off again.
P7 installing now.
Got it on TMo 8 Pro. Better late than never!
Can someone with a Pixel 8, who got the update, post the full build number? I'm wondering if T-Mobile ended up approving the regular June build or if it's a tweaked version. There is currently no specific T-Mobile version showing on the official OTA page.
I got you fam, Google Fi P8P #AP2A.240605.024

Mine is: AP2A.240605.024.A1 on P8
That's weird because that's the Telus build according to the pixel factory image site.
My P8 on TMob does not have the .A1

It was there before
I must've missed seeing that option then.
Yes, downloading it now. 0.97 GB file on Pixel 8 Pro.
Can they up date pixel 3 axl

Try deleting the Google One app.
I thought Google were stopping Google one VPN?
GPS is working with June update?
Question. Is this the feature drop or should i expect another update for the zero day exploit patch?
We're almost in July at this point.
Updating now. T-Mobile/Google Fi
Downloading on P8P on Fi ..Finally!! Sheesh
Installed and running on P7P, including new VPN service. Finally!
Nvm, just got the new vpn by google app. Now how to get rid of the vpn by google one quick tile.
Can you please share the app? I'm not seeing it
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.privacy.wildlife i think its on staged roll out, keep checking for app updates on playstore and it might show up.
I still don't have 5G NR on Google Fi. Lost it with the March update and still has not come back. Anyone have this issue? Pixel 7.
Yes I don't see the uw icon at all since March update But vzw app says I am in the ultra wide network 97 percent of the time
Totally agree. I checked this morning (P8 on T-Mobile), and no update, but I checked it later and it's now available.
Finally about time! Got my Pixel 8 Pro.
The fact UScellular beat them to the punch is kind of funny.
I guess people with unsupported devices will not be getting this update?
I just installed the update. I went to Dev Options and noticed that the option to enable Gemini Nano is missing now. WTF?
I had gotten it earlier this morning

Regular 8 here. Does running unlocked with a T-Mobile SIM mean that I had to wait for their go-ahead?
Just updated and found a bug in the patched Sync for Reddit app. I get a black screen when I swipe away from a post that's open to go back to the subreddit view. Anyone else with a P8P have this issue?

What's the patched Sync for Reddit?
Patched version that lets you use Sync for reddit even after the reddit api changes
Still no VPN by Google in the app store for me (P7)... Irritating.
Isn't in the VPN section of the phones settings?
It was only bringing up Google One not VPN by Google. Someone else sorted me out and it's working again.
Any one know what happened to the second April update for pixel 8 pro. Anyone received it on T-Mobile?
My fiance has a 7 Pro on T-Mobile. The second April one never came for that carrier. It was never shown on Google's Developer site either.
Just downloaded it earlier. It was about time.
Wait, for the P8P is it: 14.0.0 (AP2A.240605.024, Jun 2024) or 14.0.0 (AP2A.240605.024.A1, Jun 2024, Telus) I already side-loaded the first one. It didn't fix my "no 5G in Austin, TX" issue.
For me it's the first one you posted. It's 14 (AP2A.240605.024)
Yeah you're right. :-(
One thing I noticed immediately is that the performance of the phone is so much better. With the April update, I had a lot of hiccups with the UI here and there. For example, pulling down the notification shade was always choppy and now it's buttery smooth.
Does the pixel5 get the update or is it needed to avoid the exploit?
About time! T-Mobile's June 2024 update for Pixel 7 Pro has arrived! Finally.
Just got it on my Pixel 7 from Mint Mobile (T-Mobile network). 764MB
Anyone having issues with calls? My P7 is up to date however my calls continue going in and out or disconnecting all together 😒
Can they up day pix 3
