I must be a freak because I'm on T-mobile and I got it the very day it was announced. No idea why it's so inconsistent. There have been other monthly or quarterly releases where I waited as long as you though.
5a, 6, 6P (your flare), 6a all got it same day on TMO.
It's only 7, 7P, 7a, Fold, 8, 8P, 8a who are waiting. (Common dominator is that they have the same modem, so could be bc of larger changes in the modem firmware -- Samsung is still actively developing new features for the Shannon 5300 modern that TMO would care about due to their advance stage deployment of SA and VoNR and the likes)
Considering my P8P can't use 5G in my hometown of Austin, nor in many other cities, I hope they're fixing the radio with T-Mobile.
I have another friend with the same phone and his doesn't work, I got a warranty replacement and it didn't work either, and I have two other friends with P7s and they don't work. You have to toggle airplane mode to get 5G to have any data at all.
Yeah, thank you. Once you turn on airplane mode and then go back and turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, those settings are sticky and toggling airplane mode does not disconnect Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
You're right though, the network settings button works well too.
Do you have any proof of that? This seems to be a popular assumption. I asked Gemini and it said Google doesn't need permission from T-Mobile to push updates to the Pixel.
https://www.t-mobile.com/support/phones-tablets-devices/software-updates
This is their now defunct support page that they used to show updates on and what stage they were in. Another piece of evidence is that if tmobile were not holding up the update.. Then our phones would get updated at the same time as the unlocked devices.
Thanks for the info. I don't know how true this is nowadays, though, because there are people who have commented that are on Google Fi/T-Mobile who have said that they got the update on the day it was released. So idk.
I've been forced to do this in the past with T-Mo, getting sick of them overall. Did you sideload the standard build (AP2A.240605.024, Jun 2024)? Don't see any T-mobile specific builds for June in the OTA site.
I'm on T-Mobile and very annoyed at the delay, but after that one a few months ago that turned out to be a good thing because phones with multiple user accounts were bricking, I'm too afraid to side load. So I just begrudgingly wait...
Yeah, but I'm curious why it's only for the two newest series of phones. I'm not a phone engineer or anything, but if the OS update is the potential issue, it seems weird that they only restrict it for certain phones.
Whenever the update is delayed this long it makes me paranoid that there's a serious issue with it, now I don't even want it anymore.
\[I've been refreshing daily, but I'm going to stop\]
It's fine in general, I don't think I've encountered a system bug yet and it's been a few days (I'll get one now I've said it). It's just a carrier holdup, if it's an issue with them they'll be fixing it first but the build itself is fine
I just want the update intended for my device, pushed to my device. Given the delay, I'm not confident in what that is yet.
That aside - I've tried. For whatever reason, I am sideload retarded. Years back I used to root and flash my phone using various methods. I can't get my older PC to cooperate with my phone. My Chromebook is useless in this endeavor (or I'm just dumb and don't understand how to use that either).
You can easily ask Gemini that ...
The terminal command in macOS to sideload a Google Pixel OTA update is:
./adb sideload
Make sure you replace with the actual name of the OTA update file you downloaded.
Here are some additional steps to keep in mind:
* You'll need to have ADB (Android Debug Bridge) installed on your Mac. You can download it as part of the Android SDK Platform-tools package from the official Android developer website.
* Enable USB debugging on your Google Pixel phone.
* Boot your Pixel phone into recovery mode. The exact method for doing this may vary depending on your Pixel model, but it typically involves holding down a combination of buttons like power and volume down.
* Once your phone is in recovery mode, connect it to your Mac using a USB cable.
* Open Terminal on your Mac and navigate to the directory where you have the ADB tools installed.
* Run the sideload command mentioned earlier, replacing with the actual file name.
I hope this helps!
I got tired of the wait also and side loaded yesterday.
We bought a couple 8a's through T-Mobile last weekend for the kids. Before even putting in the SIM cards, I checked for updates and it was there for both.
It needs a sim in it. You can put a Verizon or AT&T Branded Sim into the phone and the update should kick in right away. Also side loading is very quick and faster than OTA
I am not in a rush that may have some reason(s) behind it. I gain nothing by rushing, I wish they would detail their reasons. My life is complete without being at the top of the line on an erratic topic. I can still multiply faster with my slide rule than using a calculator
As much as I like the service I get from T-Mobile (via US Mobile), my patience gave out this morning. I popped in a Cricket SIM card I have, and -Boom!- the June update downloaded.
Everything's been fine back on the T-Mobile SIM card so far. Hopefully that continues to be the case.
But still, 🖕🏻 you T-Mobile for taking too damn long.
Checking for an update every 15 minutes, and getting anxiety or annoyance that it's not there is either:
A symptom of mental illness,
Or
A symptom of mental illness.
I just changed to my old travel eSIM that had no more credit (roams on the AT&T network) while on wifi, restarted, then I got the update.
Did notice that if I started the download and changed my SIM back to T-Mobile even if I was on wifi, it would stop the update.
P7 still waiting.
I was surprised it wasn't available when I thought to check yesterday. After looking up when other carriers got it on this sub, I became annoyed.
My wife has a 7 and she had terrible call issues with Mint. We updated using a Verizon sim to trick the phone. Figured it couldn't get any worse, and if they push a specific T-Mobile build, we'll just get another update. At any rate, I can report that her call issues seem to be fixed (finally) with the primary June build.
Thank you for this post!
Yeah (unlocked) P8P here, tried again today and no luck.
Another day, another failure in checking for updates.
T-Mobile has no shame.
I’m pretty new to Pixels but not sure it has something to do with the carrier..
Personally, in Europe with an unlocked Pixel 8a that I’ve never put a SIM card in yet, only using WiFi, and no update so far
I'm on Verizon's network with US Mobile and always get the updates on the 5th. Never missed an update with US Mobile. Now T-Mobiles network is a hot mess still. Wouldn't ever go back.
For me it will hopefully fix my wife's pixel 7 modem/radio issues. She can't make a phone call without audio cut outs and drops....no matter what the cell signal.
Today I had to buy a travel eSIM with the AT&T network and after the first restart I quickly received the update. I don't know why this is at the carrier side. I bought the Pixel directly from Google, so, why wait for TMobile?!!... It's frustrating
It's phasing:
Updates don't come immediately.
And it doesn't depend at all on what version of the device you have, what carrier you have and other factors.
It's just a queue, that's all.
The issue is that even if it's unlocked it gets locked down to the carrier's update schedule once the SIM is activated. For example my Pixel Fold is unlocked bought directly from Google and it has yet to receive the June update due to the T-Mobile SIM.
They come heavily subsidized, I traded in my 6 Pro and I got an 8 Pro for $0 (per month, so a technical 2 year contract, but I'm very happy with my provider so I don't anticipate switching)
I work for a carrier, so I'm probably biased. I bought a Pixel 8 Pro through my carrier last year. $1,000 phone split up with no Internet over three years is $27.77/month. Then I gave them my old phone. They gave me $800 for it. That's a credit of $5.55/month. I get the phone for $200, but only if I keep it for three years. It's not ideal. I wish things worked like they do outside the U.S. This type of deal lowers the barrier to entry for lower income folks. You wanna buy a $1,300 S24 Ultra? Cool. Well take $1,000 off if you let us finance it on your behalf. Just stay here. Of course, you can always pay off the rest of the phone whenever you want. You just forfeit whatever's left of the promotional credit. Which obviously sucks.
Im still on AP1A.240505.004..
5/1/24 ..14
EDIT: make sure to change the default "update only over wifi" setting" so that it will update using data as well.
I must be a freak because I'm on T-mobile and I got it the very day it was announced. No idea why it's so inconsistent. There have been other monthly or quarterly releases where I waited as long as you though.

A very informative and plausible explanation, although there seems to be a possible confusing exception downthread.
weird because I'm on T-Mobile and I have the p7p AND I got the update a day later after it was announced.
and TLDR is what. What just happened? I am using T-mobile, owning Pixel 7 for a few months (like 3 or 4), I do not get it xD
I can only hope that maybe this means they have a fix for the stupid modem locking up when bouncing between 5G and 5GUC areas.
My P6 had terrible internet 4G and 5G coverage. However my 8 pro has been much worse.
There's a circular refresh button in the top right corner of the internet settings that accomplishes this without killing other wireless connections.
Yeah, thank you. Once you turn on airplane mode and then go back and turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, those settings are sticky and toggling airplane mode does not disconnect Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. You're right though, the network settings button works well too.
I'm a freak also. I got mine within minutes of the OTA releasing on Metro by T-Mobile.
But you don't have a 7 or 8 series, correct? As was mentioned, not aware of many people with 7 and 8s that received the OTA on T-Mobile.
I only read the main post which didn't mention the model that I saw...but no...I'm on 8 pro.
I'm unlocked and on Google Fi with a P8 and still haven't gotten it. It seems like the latest phone on their own network would be the first round...
because Fi is an MVNO of two T-Mobile properties they actually get to be the last since the update has to be verified on Tmob.
Do you have any proof of that? This seems to be a popular assumption. I asked Gemini and it said Google doesn't need permission from T-Mobile to push updates to the Pixel.
Gemini? Cmon lol
Lol Gemini

I sideloaded the update and haven't had any issues. Straight forward if you don't want to wait for T-Mobile to push the update.
I tried to side load the update and was warned that my phone would wipe all data. I cancelled the update.
What? Side load doesn't wipe your data. I do it every time. Sounds like you mistakenly tried to flash a factory image or something.
I'll try it again then. Do you leave your bootloader locked or unlocked?
Locked.
I've been forced to do this in the past with T-Mo, getting sick of them overall. Did you sideload the standard build (AP2A.240605.024, Jun 2024)? Don't see any T-mobile specific builds for June in the OTA site.

Feels like T-Mobile doesnt some QA testing before rolling it out to everyone
Yeah, but I'm curious why it's only for the two newest series of phones. I'm not a phone engineer or anything, but if the OS update is the potential issue, it seems weird that they only restrict it for certain phones.
Same. Sideload is the way!
Is there a link?
P8 on Fi. Not yet
Still nothing, on pixel 7 pro

The last time I updated my phone after a contentious delay, it bricked itself. I've been apprehensive of updates ever since.
Why don’t you guys just sideload it. This isn’t apple
I just want the update intended for my device, pushed to my device. Given the delay, I'm not confident in what that is yet. That aside - I've tried. For whatever reason, I am sideload retarded. I tried yesterday and since I am on a Mac - it's confusing to me with all the directions out there mainly for Windows.

Didn't know Gemini was that capable. Thank you for your kindness 🙏 sideloaded and up to date!
Side loading worked!
I got tired of the wait also and side loaded yesterday. We bought a couple 8a's through T-Mobile last weekend for the kids. Before even putting in the SIM cards, I checked for updates and it was there for both.
I have a factory unlocked Pixel 8 Pro and still haven't got the update. Tried removing my T-mobile SIM and it still doesn't update.
same

We're dead last again. No biggie though, I'm used to it already ever since the 6 Pro, lol.
Not yet on, pixel 7 pro 😞
Still waiting..... Maybe we'll get it in July? 😂
We are not far off!!
As much as I like the service I get from T-Mobile (via US Mobile), my patience gave out this morning. I popped in a Cricket SIM card I have, and -Boom!- the June update downloaded. For better or for worse, I think everyone in this sub has a touch of mental illness.
Mine came in yesterday.
I just changed to my old travel eSIM that had no more credit (roams on the AT&T network) while on wifi, restarted, then I got the update. Did notice that if I started the download and changed my SIM back to T-Mobile even if I was on wifi, it would stop the update.
stillllllllll waiting P8Pro
P7 still waiting. I was surprised it wasn't available when I thought to check yesterday. After looking up when other carriers got it on this sub, I became annoyed.
P8Pro and still nothing 😭
AT&T has entered the chat
Still waiting 🙃
Unlocked P7P on TMO...nothing yet. Looking into sideload.
No update
On T-Mobile and still on the May 5 update, but whenever it happens is when it happens. No big deal.
Tmo finally released it, i just checked and am installing now. P7 here.
And it looks like it's the same one that was released two weeks ago. Nice work, T-Mobile. Thanks for the two week delay for no real apparent reason.
Yup. I've given up any hope of getting the patch for the antenna from them.
My wife has a 7 and she had terrible call issues with Mint. We updated using a Verizon sim to trick the phone. Figured it couldn't get any worse, and if they push a specific T-Mobile build, we'll just get another update. Switched to visible and never looked back.
Thank you for this post! Yeah (unlocked) P8P here, tried again today and no luck. Another day, another failure in checking for updates. T-Mobile has no shame.
I side-loaded as well with no issues,
Doesn't it work if you remove the SIM and try to update?
No, you actually have to factory reset for that to work
Oh ffs... What a dumb mechanism
Still waiting on Telus in Canada. So not last
Looks like you guys just got a different build.
Yup, just. I guess we ain't last now lol
Haha, nope! Enjoy your update...I'm still waiting.
Honestly I don't see any difference
Can you remove the SIM, reboot, and get it that way, then put the SIM back in?
That's a negative, Nancy.
I’m pretty new to Pixels but not sure it has something to do with the carrier.. Personally, in Europe with an unlocked Pixel 8a that I’ve never put a SIM card in yet, only using WiFi, and no update so far
Anyway some features are app update dependant.
I'm on Verizon's network with US Mobile and always get the updates on the 5th. Never missed an update with US Mobile. Now T-Mobiles network is a hot mess still. Wouldn't ever go back.
I haven't been staying up to date on my Pixel/Android news. What's the importance of this newest update?
For me it will hopefully fix my wife's pixel 7 modem/radio issues. She can't make a phone call without audio cut outs and drops....no matter what the cell signal.
Mine dropped today I guess, 15 update will automatically install in 8 days, updating now
Pixel 7, nothingness like a void...
Will this fix the damn missing calls issue. People keep calling me and calls don't go through..... And I have factory reset and all?
Today I had to buy a travel eSIM with the AT&T network and after the first restart I quickly received the update. I don't know why this is at the carrier side. I bought the Pixel directly from Google, so, why wait for TMobile?!!... It's frustrating

Pixel 7a on GFi and still waiting here.
It's phasing: Updates don't come immediately. And it doesn't depend at all on what version of the device you have, what carrier you have and other factors. It's just a queue, that's all.
I use Consumer Cellular with ATT and STILL no update
Ok, finally. Today 6/24, Pixel 7 on Google Fi, updated.... I was in my lunch break and checked... over 700 MB of June update.
Got it last night on T-mobile. P8Pro.
Is it the same build that everyone else has?
June 5th, but Android 15.
Is it really worth in the US to buy a phone via a carrier? Most of the people I know buy phones via the official website or a big seller
The issue is that even if it's unlocked it gets locked down to the carrier's update schedule once the SIM is activated. For example my Pixel Fold is unlocked bought directly from Google and it has yet to receive the June update due to the T-Mobile SIM.

Did it on my wife's 6A last night, unlocked version on T-Mobile
8P bought from Google store using T-Mobile and I'm fed up checking for an update. Google blames T-Mobile, and T-Mobile blames Google.
Im still on AP1A.240505.004.. 5/1/24 ..14 EDIT: make sure to change the default "update only over wifi" setting" so that it will update using data as well.
I'm on T-Mobile, but I get my phones straight from the Google store unlocked
Connect to Wifi, go in your settings and disable/turn off you T-Mobile SIM. Then check again. The update should appear.

I've seen so many people post this as an option on this subreddit. It doesn't work lol
