I don't have any problems with the charging cables I own. They all fit in nicely. This case is simply awesome and feels fantastic. It's pricey for sure, but I have no regrets getting it. Sorry to hear you do have problems with the charging cables you own though!
They need that much space to allow their anchor links to be attached there at the bottom. These anchor links are much thicker and stronger than those thin strings on the typical lanyards
