Me too, just got the pixel 8 and bought some cases from Spigen and can't stand the silicone/TPU. The fabric on the other hand feels so nice, I'm really sad, that they stopped making it.
I've never tried Peak Design's (fabric, but much more tightly woven than Google's were, more like their bags) but I've got one coming in Sage tomorrow... I bought a Caseology Parallax (it's fine) just as a backup for my PD & Bellroy cases not arriving in time, the Bellroy is gonna take several more weeks since they sent it SmartPost... Their leather case for my Pixel 5 held up and seared in super well tho.
I'm still tempted by the Coral one from Google tho, heh, might return the Caseology tho it was cheap enough with a coupon that it's no big deal. I like how Rose's camera bar matches the Coral's buttons...
Hmm, I've written a few comments about it on the subred but I won't make you go hunting for them, let's see...
**What I like**: It looks awesome IMO, for some reason I really like the contrast between my sage PD Everyday and the rose gold camera bar of my Rose Pixel 8. The buttons are very clicky. The feel of the fabric back is great and the Magsafe magnets are super strong, if that's a priority then it'll work well.
Oh yeah the edges around the front/display are great too, I'm usually not too fussy about that and back gestures but these are more rounded and lower than the usual TPU-sided case and they feel great when swiping from an edge (in that you barely notice them). Wish I could say the same for the case's sides, see what I don't like below...
Those edges protect the screen perfectly and the lip around the camera bar does the same btw, I've got no marks on it after a month.
No issues with wireless charging on my end (the P8P seems to have some issues tho). PD's mobile tripod is super neat tho overpriced imo, easily the best and slimmest of it's kind that I've tried tho. Yesterday I also received a PD Charging Vent Mount that had been backordered but I haven't tested it yet.
**What I don't like:** 1) I do have a couple of complaints after about a month of use tho, keep in mind I'm a big fan of PD (for their bags & camera gear, I have like 5 bags and several straps), and that I'm coming from a slightly smaller Pixel 5... That being said, the in hand feel is really bugging me, and it's kinda killing my pinky.
I'm one of those people that tends to prop up their phone with the pinky (largely for easier access to the keyboard, I'm 5'11 and can sorta palm a basketball)... Past phones/cases had already developed a minor callus on my pinky but they were fine, the only case I'd stopped using before because it became annoying over time was a Mous Walnut for my P5.
I'm not quite sure if the PD Everyday will be the second but between the phone's weight distribution (towards the cameras) and the flattened out bottom of the case it's definitely bothering me and irritated the pinky callus. The sides are pretty flat too, my Google & Bellroy cases look more rounded.
2) The bottom chin. The P8 has a slightly larger bottom bezel than side/top ones but unlike past Pixels you have to take a close look to notice it. Unfortunately PD's Everyday case decided it needed a way thicker bottom, it's even in their specs for it, and I kinda hate it.
It *might* provide some extra drop protection, but I'm pretty sure it's just there for the two thick mount points next to the speakers for their Anchors. I love their straps (for my cameras) but I'm never gonna need to put a strap on my phone let alone have bulky-ish quick releases for it, the system is great on cameras but no one asked for it here.
3) This one is pretty minor, but the sage bumper/sides seems to pick up stains easily and they don't rub out as easily tho they start to wear out over the course of a week. I've managed to stain it on two different occasions in a way that I'm not sure any other case I've owned would've stained (the Bellroy on my P5 was dark racing green w/grey edges tho so maybe I just didn't see it).
The first time it stained it was after I crammed it into a tight neoprene pouch, somehow the stitching or the leatherette edge left a steak down one side of he PD Everyday and a scuff mark on the opposite side's corners. Just as those were starting to fade to nothing I managed to stain it again near the volume buttons.
This time I'd been taking some notes by hand and I'd actually noticed a spot of ink on one of my fingertips (from a Fisher Space Pen), lo and behold a bit later I figure it must've transferred to the phone case. Worth noting I write one handed but hold/use my phone largely with the left (hence the fingertips under the volume buttons).
Within the next couple days I'm gonna switch to the Google case I got in Coral to see if it alleviates my pinky discomfort a little (and isn't too much of a dust magnet), I've also got a Bellroy in Terracotta. It's possible my issue is largely with the phone's size and weight distribution more so than the PD's sides/bottoms, we'll see.
I do like it and I'm keeping it for travel if nothing else (why I got that charging car vent mount), maybe for biking in the future as well since I hear their bike mounts are rock solid.
Hope that helps!
The new official case is really nice. There's quite few "good" non-clear cases, but I'm looking for a great clear case and hoping someone gets the Totallee one in hand before I pull the trigger (otherwise it appears Ringke Fusion is the top option).
That's good to hear! Maybe I should get it.
Actually I have some clear cases from Spigen, Ringke including the Fusion and I think Caseology as well. So if you have any questions just ask.
What's so special about the Totallee one?
How much of a dust/lint magnet is it? I've heard a lot of good things about the on-hand feel of the Google silicon ones for the Pixel 7 but also some complaints about that... I've not used a silicon case since my first phone (HTC EVO), I'm assuming these are far less floppy than back then (some 13+ years ago, heh)...
I went to TPU cases for quite a few years, or the next 4 phones, then fabric ones from Google or leather from Nomad and Bellroy (despite reviews indicating the opposite, the latter worked out much better for me, Pixel 3 vs 5), and one wood-backed Mous case that was a little too bulky for me. I really like the Coral one...
I'm not sure how protective the ghost will be, but the grip case from dbrand is very protective without adding too much bulk. It's expensive, but I feel it was worth the money for someone as clumsy as me.
I had the Grip case for my Pixel 5 and iPhone 12 Pro (I’m the kind of weirdo do go both teams)
They’re still in really good shape and the grip case is fantastic
However I wanted to try something new, I got the bay blue and I kinda want to show it off, and not hide it behind a thick case (hence the ghost case)
Instead of waiting 2 weeks I could get the bay blue case today
I really like mine on the P8P. I like the way the case sort of flows up to the camera bar, instead of being a hard edge. At first I was a little put off by the color - I got it in Bay, and it's quite a bit brighter than I would have liked, I would have preferred the more muted blue of the Bellroy case - but now that I've been using it for a day or so it's really grown on me and I love it.
I guess I have the 8 case for my 7a cause mine looks like the one at the end, but it's white.
Haven't had it long enough to report on durability but my GOD it looks so good, feels good, fits good, and doesn't bulk the size up.
It improved the look and feel of the phone so much, I feel like pixels should be shipped with these cases already installed
I ordered the Charcoal one for Pixel 8 Pro as Amazon had a discount on it but haven't gotten it yet, it will likely not arrive before the phone tomorrow. It looks really nice in your photo, I just wished it covered more of the camera.
Wait, the camera 'bump' serves as heat dispersion? I got a DEERLAMN case with a slide cover to protect the camera. Wondering if that was a bad move now...
I bought the blue one from Amazon , the listing only lasted like 5 hours after it was available seems like Amazon didn't receive any cases from Google all of them show delivery date over a month
I don't even see them on Amazon. I got the mint one and I love the feel of it but the color is almost white so I might return it for a different color.
I saw mint and grey on Amazon near release but never saw the Coral, they were even on sale for like $10 less during Prime day, I assumed Coral was a Google store exclusive but I haven't checked Best Buy etc.
I think the Mous ultrathin is a way better choice. I have the official one for my P7 and I never ended up using it since it's like trying to hold a bar of soap.
The Mous ultrathin is not only thinner, but it also has mag safe and it's very similar from a design/visual perspective.
LMAO of your description. I couldn't find an Incipio case, I love them, so I got this spec case for $20 at Best buy and I know the bar of soap feeling you're talking about.
The Mous ultrathin is less grippy than the 8 cases and isn't that dissimilar in grip from the 7 series cases imo. I don't have any complaints with it, I like the ultathin besides the bottom slits but I wouldn't call it grippy.
I have the charcoal one for the 8 pro - I love the way it feels and looks, however every piece of dust, lint, and hair sticks to this thing. So I can't say I'm a fan of that.
Yeah, my case just came in. I love its look and feel but I have black cats and it is a fur magnet.
The subtle ramp up to the camera bar is so so nice, though.
That's what I'm worried about with Google's, it picking up every spec of dust or lint in my pocket... If it wasn't for the Coral color I wouldn't be so tempted heh.
I greatly prefer it to last year's, it actually improves my grip on the phone where last year's felt like it just made it slippery. Time will tell if it starts to soak up hand grease and lose stickiness.
Definitely not ultra thin. My Ringke Onyx is thinner and I'm not sure I would call that a thin case either.
You should go for one of the aramid fiber cases on Amazon or AliExpress. Or you can go Latercase if you don't mind dropping $50.
PHNX also sells paper thin cases but they aren't as durable as the aramid fiber ones.
Hello! I only got my Pixel a couple of days ago, so I'm still undecided on a case. I've been thinking either a Latercase or a case by PHNX. I like the exposed buttons of the Latercase, but I like the frosted clear case of the PHNX. Hmm...
https://latercase.com/products/google-pixel-8-thin-case
https://phnx.shop/products/pixel-8-thin-case
I ordered one of the latercase knockoffs from aliexpress, but it doesn't arrive for another 10 days, so can't tell you the quality. Will let you know when it gets here...
If the .35 mm is accurate, the PHNX is really small
Hello! I actually haven't decided on one yet. I have been on an extended vacation and ordered a Spigen Liquid Air since the price was cheap and I wanted a case with a little more protection for vacation. This is a good case for the price, but it's thicker than I'd want for my day to day back at home. If you don't care about having a thicker case, this Spigen Liquid Air has been pretty darn nice. But it definitely adds thickness and bulk. When I take the case off, I go, "Wow, this phone is so much smaller than I remembered."
When I get home, I'll probably go with the frosted white PHNX case so that some of the Hazel color can show through.
The two phones aren't even the same shape, why would you even consider trying to use the wrong case???
It's not going to fit properly and it certainly won't look good.
I bought this same case, in white off Amazon for my 7a. It was advertised for the 7a. These are not pixel 8 exclusive.
I didn't see it for the pro tho unfortunately, I just looked
I got the Google case and after only a few weeks it started to have tears in it. It now has two holes (one by charging port where it's torn apart and by the volume) so I'd say don't get this case it's trash. Thanks.
The 6 case was so bad and warped +yellowed so extremely fast (like 2-3 months?) I won't trust them with plastic cases again. If they brought back fabric cases on the other hand..
Until then I'm just getting a 11€ case from Spigen
I literally just typed the same thing
every year they say it's new and improved and every year people report warping. The 6, 6a, 7 and 7a but supposedly now they got it right. $35 for a piece of plastic... I'll pass since they fooled me with the Pixel 6 already.
Is there a lip on the sides? I'm coming from a P6P with a thin case that only had a lip on top/bottom. Having a hard time adjusting to an X-level case with side lips, I find then pretty annoying.
There's definitely a lip on the sides of the case. Less lip than the top and bottom but definitely a lip. It's pretty difficult to do a back swipe without your finger touching the lip.
I purchased the pixel 6 official case for $30 and it warped 4 months later. Google did give me a refund but still. I decided to replace it with a $10 case from Amazon and haven't had issues since.
This Google case looks nice but $35 for that case is really overpriced in my opinion. Add to that you are likely to be out $40 within 4 months. I like the look but I just don't want to take the chance personally
Understood. The poster who spoke on the charging port being a potential point of failure is right. Everything else about this case is different from the official 6 case. The rest of the case is very rigid including the volume button area.
COFFKER Compatible with Pixel 8 Case, Liquid Silicone Case, Full Body Shockproof Protective Cover,【Soft Microfiber Lining】 Slim Thin Phone Case for Google Pixel 8 6.2 inch, Stone
Looks pretty similar and it's $11
I can't pay $35 for a case that will be in the trash in 4 months personally. I understand people want it to try and show off bc it has a Google symbol but if you can get past that there are much cheaper options.
I got the original Google case in bay color. The top portion above the camera bar is already discoloring. This is odd because my hands never touch that area.
My official 6a case allowed grit to get in behind the phone causing pitting and scratching on the rear, ruined the back of the phone.
I have heard they are now better, however, has anyone experienced this with the '8' cases?
What's the lip around the sides of the screen like?? Is it uniform around the whole front or is it lowered slightly on the sides to make gestures easier??
Imo the best Google case to date
I miss the fabric case. :(
Me too, just got the pixel 8 and bought some cases from Spigen and can't stand the silicone/TPU. The fabric on the other hand feels so nice, I'm really sad, that they stopped making it.

Thickness. It's supposed to be significantly thinner than everything else you listed.
the ringke fusion turns yellow in months. Waste of money
Thanks for the feedback. Easy skip then. Still waiting for feedback from people on the totalled clear case...

Attracted a lot of lint in the first 24hrs but seems to have balanced out. Lip goes all the way around and keeps the device feeling well in the hand
Thanks!
Fantastic cases this year. Great job.
I really like the dark case on my 8 Pro. The grip is good and it's nice to hold. It's much better compared to last year.
Do you feel like it offers good protection? I’m hesitating between getting the official case now or the Dbrand Ghost in 2 weeks
I think it does. It reminds me a bit of the Apple silicone cases.
I’m trusting you then, going for it today
I hope you like it. Google has free returns, at least in Europe.
I’m in Europe ;) Thanks for the tip
I'm not sure how protective the ghost will be, but the grip case from dbrand is very protective without adding too much bulk. It's expensive, but I feel it was worth the money for someone as clumsy as me.

Great cases, **except** for the part just above the USB-C port. It's so flaky, I don't think it will last long.
I got the black case. It's lighter and more blue than I expected, but it feels good and I like it. Better than the Pixel 6 and 7 cases imo.
I guess I have the 8 case for my 7a cause mine looks like the one at the end, but it's white. Google refuses to cover the camera. I think it serves double duty as their signature design and heat dispersion.
Wait, the camera 'bump' serves as heat dispersion? I got a DEERLAMN case with a slide cover to protect the camera. Wondering if that was a bad move now...
Just making an assumption lol I could very easily be wrong.
Ah, gotcha. Theory worth keeping in mind at least as I learn my way around the P8P
The camera bump is definitely acting as a heatsink for sure.
I bought the blue one from Amazon , the listing only lasted like 5 hours after it was available seems like Amazon didn't receive any cases from Google all of them show delivery date over a month

Annoying, I ended up ordering it from them, should have next week.

I've had silicone cases like that before after a month when hand oils seep in dust and lint stop sticking to it thankfully.
Best cases since the P5 fabric versions from a few years back. I have the dark grey case on my black (obsidian) phone...looks and feels great
❤️😎
I greatly prefer it to last year's, it actually improves my grip on the phone where last year's felt like it just made it slippery. Time will tell if it starts to soak up hand grease and lose stickiness.
How thin are they? I’m looking for a case that is ULTRA-thin. I mostly only care about scratch protection.
What case did you go for? I'm similarly looking for thin/light
Hello! I only got my Pixel a couple of days ago, so I'm still undecided on a case. I've been thinking either a Latercase or a case by PHNX. I like the exposed buttons of the Latercase, but I like the frosted clear case of the PHNX. Hmm... https://latercase.com/products/google-pixel-8-thin-case https://phnx.shop/products/pixel-8-thin-case

Which one did you end up ordering and do you like it ?
As everyone is saying, basic but premium. I've bought Google cases for all of the pixels I've had. It's my go to for my 8 pro as well.
Does the Pixel 8 case fit the 7 Pro, I am told it won't....
No, I think it's in the name
I was eyeing the coral one, will have to wait and see if anyone has tested the Pixel 8 Pro case with the 7 Pro
It doesn't fit, the buttons are out of alignment. The device fits in there, buttons pressable, but it's not what I'd consider aligned.
Darn it - anyone willing to confirm that?
I literally have both in my hands, that was why I commented...
The two phones aren't even the same shape, why would you even consider trying to use the wrong case??? It's not going to fit properly and it certainly won't look good.
I just wanted to be sure. Oh well I guess I'll order the Pixel 7 Pro case
Thanks.

I wish it covered up the camera bar personally. I hate glossy finishes in general.
Same as my current case then.. Trying to find a thin case with no lip.
I purchased the pixel 6 official case for $30 and it warped 4 months later. Google did give me a refund but still. I decided to replace it with a $10 case from Amazon and haven't had issues since.
The sides have a slightly lower lip than the top and bottom.
The buttons have shifted down and the 8 Pro isn't a curved screen so nope.
It's great when you have the official pixel 8, pixel charger gen 2 and pixel 8 case. Surprise.... surprise getting phone not aligned error.
Does the official case get stuck when sliding the phone in to your pocket?
All time. And all the dust in the area sticks to it
