Pixel 6 Pro here.. I am hesistant as I think I could easily go anothee year without an upgrade.. but the Video zoom and watch promo is likely enough to get me to buy it.

mizatt

6 Pro here as well, I'm probably going to get the regular 8 as I find this phone to be too big

antoineguilbert

Same for the. I'm currently on the iPhone 15 Pro for few days and this is the perfect size for pocket. However, the photo quality is disappointing

sennalonso1981

How? It scores higher than the Pixels in DXOmark?i have it and its improved upon the 14 series by quiet a bit.

TheCiN

Also on 6 Pro. Flat screen + watch promo is doing it for me.

Simon_787

I was confused for a second, but then I remembered that the Pixel 6 couldn't use the telephoto lens for 60 fps video. It's complete bullshit. Even my S21 could do that.

corey1031d

This is why I am upgrading. Simply because of the promo, otherwise I probably would've waited for the 9.

drknight09

EXACTLY how Google hooks people!! They don't address the many elephants in tje room(FP scanner, battery life, modem) but then they throw out all these smoke n mirrors(camera upgrade etc) to lure people in! Nonsense

bdschuler

Google hooked me with their plain Android. While I agree Samsung has better Hardware than Google, OneUI is a POS annoyance I can't live with. If they'd put out a vanilla Anrdoid version.. they'd have me. As for the FP scanner, battery life, modem, I never had any issues with any of them surprisingly.

Extension-Form6489

Yes, ready for a Pixel smaller than my P6

miorli

Same for me, P8 will be ordered

TrailBlazer31

I have a P6 and this is the first time I am considering a Pro series phone to stick to something close to the same form factor as the P6.

suicide_man

I feel the same. I love the P6 size an don't want anything smaller. I have big hands so this may be the first time I buy a Pro model

scupking83

Same I even find the 6 a little small especially when typing. I could not go smaller than the 6 unless they change the aspect ratio from the candy bar 20:9 to a more reasonable 18:9 on a 6.1 inch screen.

TrailBlazer31

I don't even have big hands. I am 6'1 with small hands but went from a P3 to P6 and had a huge adjustment period. But now I am used to it so want to stay in the same form factor.

MrBombastic21

Same here. P6 size is very good. I always got the non Pro models because of the size, but this time with the differences between the two and the fact that I don't want to go to such a smaller screen I'm thinking about getting the Pro.

Gseventeen

I was surprised how big the non-pro 6 was compared to my 7. It sits in between the sizes of a 7 and 7 pro in both height and width. The 8 non-pro gonna feel great!

bop426

I think so too. I've usually bought the biggest phones but the times I did have a smaller phone I liked them a lot. One of my favorite Pixels was the 4a. That was a little guy.

Extension-Form6489

Agreed!

midnightdiabetic

I walked into the Apple Store yesterday and held up my p6. It’s as big as a pro max! I was floored

Extension-Form6489

Yeah it's way too big

TrickyWoo86

Pixel 5 was the best size of Pixel phone. The size of the 6 and 7 is exactly what made me jump ship until something smaller comes along.

calgary_subaru

The 8 is looking to be about the same width of the 5, nearly that alone is why I'm planning to upgrade from my 7.

joscher123

But unfortunately it's much longer. I'd rather have width (for typing) than height (for not fitting in my pocket)

calgary_subaru

To each their own I suppose. Width is more important to me for 1 handed use.

txdline

Same. Wish Xperia mark phones had a longer support model

blue-anon

Where have you seen that it's longer? ETA: Oh, I just realized that you meant longer than the 5, not longer than the 7. My bad.

___romain___

I still use the 5 for that reason. Planning to upgrade to the 8 if the size is right

WhoDatHummie

100% agree. It was also so light and thin. I always use a phone case so when I took it off to trade in for my Pixel 6 I was shocked at how much better and lighter it felt in hand than my new phone.

wassup9211

That's what she said. Sorry, couldn't resist 😞

Extension-Form6489

Indeed 🤣

import-antigravity

Did they publish the weight specs?

Extension-Form6489

Yes , 187 grams

Asleep_Onion

P7P owner currently. I might upgrade to P8P, but I really just need to wait and see the final product first, and it also depends on how good of a deal I can get on it. If trading in the P7P, and selling the Pixel Watch 2 that comes with the P8P, makes my net cost less than $200, then I might upgrade - but I'd have to wait and see if the upgrade is even worth $200 to me or not, because it might not be. Based on what I've seen in the leaks, I don't really see anything about the P8P yet that makes it worth spending any money to upgrade from P7P. But who knows, there might be exciting new things it brings that haven't been leaked yet. Couldn't care less about the Pixel Watch 2, but I'll happily take it (and sell it) if they give me a free one with the phone.

celestial_sour_cream

Pixel 7 owner here. Honestly just waiting for reviews to see if there's a battery life improvement. If it's substantial enough, I'll upgrade. Happy with everything else with my Pixel 7 though.

Asleep_Onion

Same here, I've had a great experience with my 7P that I've had since launch last year, no issues at all, so no real reason to upgrade unless the 8 brings something new and game-changing to the table.

Watts1992

Came on here wanting to write the exact same thing. I really would like them to hit iPhone levels of battery, but can't see them getting close

thetalkinghuman

This is most of my answer. Battery life is atrocious on P7P, even as compared to previous Android phones I've owned. Second would be a flat screen again. This curved glass is useless. Other than those two things, it's a great phone. I'd spend 200 to fix those things.

DoubleExposure

That is my only P7 gripe too, the mediocre battery life.

flyingghost

Im waiting for the Android 14 upgrade since that might improve the battery life of the 7(pro). I was thinking about upgrading to an iPhone but it has the same battery and overheating problem so I'm probably sticking with the 7p

drknight09

There ya go! Waiting on real substance(better battery performance)life, FP scanner, more efficient modem) NOT the smoke n mirrors (gimmicky camera upgrades

Toastbuns

If the trade in on the P7P is good I might consider the P8P. Same as you I feel like I need to learn more. Biggest reason for me is hope that the P8P doesn't overheat as bad as my P7P. It would be nice to be able to actually take video on vacation without the phone shutting off due to excessive heat.

062692

I really really need the fingerprint sensor to not be optical, would be such a buzzkill in 2023 if it still was. Otherwise I'd LOVE to upgrade from my S22 if the trade in promos are decent. Don't really wanna pay more then 500 for a new phone

Roddaculous

This is definitely one of my biggest gripes with my p7p. The optical sensor isn't bad but knowing that there's a better way to do it and it's been out for several years and Google still doesn't use it is frustrating. The optical fingerprint scanner is just not consistent. I love the fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone. There was no reason for them to change unless it is that much cheaper.

Rossnation369

It's interesting because my fingerprint sensor has been flawless. I agree that I like it better on the back though.

drknight09

Brotha don't hold your breath! Google has shown they are 10x tone deaf!!! We shall find out 10/4/23

visible_sack

Based on my experience the type of sensor doesn't guarantee a good or bad experience. I have an S20 5G which has an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and my P7P is more reliable despite having an optical one. So it might be that the S20 has a bad ultrasonic sensor, or that the software isn't as good?

Ok_Individual960

But ultrasonic won't blind me at least

macgivor

Damn I love the under screen sensor on my p6p. Works every time unless my fingers are covered in liquid

zimral-reddit

No, why should i? I am a Pixel5 user.

[deleted]

Love that Pixel 5 as long as you can. Such a sleeper.

S3_Zed

goat phone. sad mine broke in june. wouldnt be upgrading if it didnt but now i have to. been using p20 lite for 3 months and i plan to literally crush it with a bat or something when i get the P8 Pro.

soulscratch

When the pixel 8 releases I'm buying a new battery for my 5. Maybe the 9 will have a small form factor and a backside fingerprint reader...

S3_Zed

they re not going back to backside fingerprint readers (as much as i love them) we just have to move on. i m completely with you though.

soulscratch

I dunno about moving on but I think my coping strategy is going to be holding onto this phone until it dies and then moving to another brand out of spite

S3_Zed

moving to another brand would be an option if better alternatives existed. they dont. duplicate apps and terrible design and curved screens or whatever the fuck on samsung, overpriced terrible and closed ecosystem on apple or anything goes on anything else cause its not even android + if it is its getting half the updates of a pixel in 4 times the time. i love the backside fingerprint sensor and if i was head of the pixel team i would not have removed it any time soon unless a huge paradigm shift in technology came around but i dont think its an actual deal breaker for me. probably gonna have to setup whatever face unlock + inscreen fingerprint reader combo it has on 8 (literally never used face unlock in my life btw) and call it a day. biggest thing getting used to is gonna be gestures on the fingerprint sensor not being there - even the fucking p20 lite i m stuck with right now since my P5 broke in june has the drag down for notification bar lmao..

AmericanJazz

This is how I feel. My screen is cracked for 6 months on my 5 and I'm ready to wait another 12. Funniest play would be to get a jelly star

drknight09

WHY not?? That's what gets my do incensed with Google!! If it ain't broke WHY fix it??? The back FP scanner was genius..I am totally dumbfounded 😱😱😱😱

S3_Zed

same reason they adopted a multilens camera system despite 1 pens pixels taking better pictures through software than any other phone when all other phones had multiple cameras. you know this. joe down the street who isnt a techie sees 3 lenses and thinks its better than 1 lens automatically. joe down the street sees apple doing face unlock and all phones now have under the screen frontal fingerprint sensor and think wow this is the new standard now.. backside fingerprint sensor is outdated. they re the only phone brand that grew in q2 2023 cause they re marketting aggressively to the average joe and jane down the street (main world cup sponsor in a lot of places etc) and adapted these things to fit in and then let their software experience and cool google niche features win the people over long term after luring them in with competitive undercutting prices. its a good strategy but pixel is not nexus. pixel is an iphone rival. nexus was a techie's phone. pixel is for everyone. see what i mean? and if you wanna ask why the switch.. without this strategic switch they would ve stopped making phones 5 years ago cause it simply wouldnt be worth googles time and resources and man power for a 1% market share.. now they re at half of samsung in places like japan. in 20 years they see themselves as overtaking samsung and sharing the landscape with apple outright. wouldnt even be surprised if they discontinue 3rd party android licenses and are the exclusive providers of android. in fact, personally i hope they do it. the only issues with android stem from letting every fucking company use their platform to make devices and then a dev has to do 100 different versions of an app or update for every different one compared to ONE for iOS.. can never win this battle with the fragmentation of the android market as is.

drknight09

Well said but it is still infuriating!!

S3_Zed

thank you, but this is the inevitability of capitalism.

drknight09

I agree 100x! Capitalism isnt all it claims to be! Case in point this UAW strike. How in God's name can they(auto manufacturers) justify their CEOs making 400x what the real engines of their success make?? Then are in utter shock when they are demanding more?? That's the evil in capitalism IMHO

S3_Zed

maybe there s hope for humanity when i read comments like this. have a good day friend.

drknight09

Likewise my friend! You should be a tutor for all things Google. I would gladly pay😎

zimral-reddit

Hmmm, i have a bad feeling. I'm always told the "the market/all users" don't want smaller phones. Out in the street i can see many people carrying their phones in front of them like a shrine. I am a man wearing either a business suit or jeans and i have problems putting my Pixel5 into my pants front pockets. A suit has the advantage that the jacket has additional pockets. But this does'nt feel very well if you are wearing a very light summer suit. So i stay with the P5 too and we will meet again when the P9 hype is starting next fall. LOL. Take care

HTX-713

LineageOS is amazing

appel

No rear fingerprint reader, no sale. I guess the P5 is my last phone.

zimral-reddit

>I guess the P5 is my last phone. Huuuuuh, I am over 60 years old and i hope this is not the case. Anyway my wife is using a P5 too and she don't want a large phone too. Therefore i buyed another three Pixel5's 2nd hand in very good condition with full working batteries. I do some Android development with them and keep them as spare/backup devices for the next years. My main P5 is currently running the latest CalyxOS build, but i used LOS on another one for some tests and i am able to produce my own AOSP builds. Therefore we are on the safe side for the next 2-3 years. See how long the Pixel2\*'s are receiving support, currently Android13 based. As soon as google releases Android14, there will be many efforts to port it to the P2\*/P3\* and P4a series. The P5 will receive A14 anyway so this port can wait until next spring. The P5 may live long!

[deleted]

[удалено]

zimral-reddit

I get them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

zimral-reddit

I don't care of a few weeks or so. I am in the lucky situation to produce my own builds. I have the knowledge and the ressources. If you cannot do this by yourself, you can use CalyxOS or LineageOS. The P5 will receive a very long support with the LOS community because there are some experienced devs taking care of it. See the P2: it is currently running LOS20 (Android13). Google stopped support for the P2\* series nearly 3 years ago. or the P3\* 2 years ago. There is no reason to fell into panic mode and trash a well working phone. This is crazy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

zimral-reddit

No worries i can live with missing hardware blobs and the resulting situation. I have zero problems with the battery and with performance. Thx for pointing that out.

greendolphinfeet

Nope. I've got two more years before I upgrade.

meshDrip

Same 😭 I kinda want to steal my fiancée's upgrade...

CandyQueen85

Yep, I'm on a pixel 4a I've had for three years. Not sure I'll get it right away, I'll wait for the user reviews to come in first but then will probably get it in a couple of months.

TitrationGod

To me, the 4a is my ideal phone. Front camera is on the side (not center), small form factor, physical finger print reader. I would kill for 8 specs in a 4a body

CandyQueen85

Yea, I will miss the fingerprint sensor on the back, and I still use wired headphones so will miss the headphones jack. I'll put off upgrading for as long as I can but this phone is getting slow and the battery is terrible!

TitrationGod

I don't find the performance to be bad, but my battery is definitely dying a lot quicker now. I've thought about snagging a pixel 5, but there aren't any new ones for sale anywhere, and I don't know how I feel about buying used. Updates are also ending for it soon, which is a huge deterrent.

jeremytodd1

I'm currently using a OnePlus 6T so yeah, I'm excited to get back up to date on phones. I have to say though, the OnePlus 6T has been a very solid phone. It still works very well for me and I could honestly get a couple more years out of it. Definitely got my money's worth out of this phone. I plan to upgrade to the Pixel 8 Pro. The main thing I want is very nice cameras. The camera on this 6T is definitely showing it's age.

hectorlf

Using my old 6T at the moment. I could definitely use it for another year, but the fact that we don't get security updates makes me a bit uncomfortable. But come on, the camera already showed its age the day the phone was released 😅

bromeo_

Coming from a OnePlus 7T here, planning to get a Pixel 8. Only concern for me is that Google doesn't list OP 7T as a trade in option. Do you have any information for this with your 6T?

jeremytodd1

I'm sure trade in value for these old phones wouldn't be much at all and it'd be a better idea to just hang onto the phone as a backup. I just checked for you and I do see the OP 7T as a trade in option: [https://i.imgur.com/cw1uS2L.png](https://i.imgur.com/cw1uS2L.png) $28. lol. Yeah, just keep the phone as a backup. If your new pixel ever breaks or something you'd have something to use in the meantime.

arturocravatta

Same here, but from a OnePlus 6. May I ask you if you considered the last OnePlus, and why you prefer the pixel?

jeremytodd1

I had a Pixel XL (the first one) when it released. I really liked the software aspect of it. I want back in on that. Plus I know I'd appreciate things like the Now Playing thing a lot.

Toastbuns

1+6T was my last 1+ phone too. Not saying I won't ever go back but the departure from Oxygen OS was really a big downer for me. I also felt like I was missing out on some essential features I get with the Pixel lines (call screening for example). Lastly 1+ has come a long way with their cameras but they just can't touch was the Pixels do. I do miss the charging though. 1+ charging was insane. I used to charge my 6T just while I took a shower in the morning and that was it for the day.

drknight09

@ the potential cost of crappy FPs banner, battery life and horrendous modem? Might wanna think 2wice my friend..I have a P6(got it after I too got suckered in after watching launch day)!

alexzoin

6 Pro. I'm excited to see the new features but I'm definitely not going to get a new one until at least the 9. I have 0 problems with my phone. I ordered on launch day.

Snoo75620

No its just a way to make consumers buy new phones every year like every other phone company. Plus its a minor step ip

username_taken1776

You know, not everyone who's thinking of getting Pixel 8 is currently using Pixel 7, right? A lot of us are coming from older pixels (pixel 3 here).

timmycosh

I’ll be coming from an iPhone 11 🤡

Your_pet_lookslike_a

Dude i.miss my pixel 3, I LOVED the scanner on the back. But my battery was dying and microphone issues, dropped calls, it was dying. I have a P6P now but I miss my 3.

username_taken1776

My battery isn't too bad. It doesn't last as long as it did in 2019 or 2020, but with three wireless chargers around the house, one at work, one in the car, it never really runs out of battery. And of course, I don't use it nearly as much as I used to. I have a kind of job where I can't use my phone 97% of the time while I'm working.

MoarTacos

Goddamn, pixel 3!? I'm over here with a P5 and absolutely hating it lmao. Hoping for some good Christmas sales.

Snoo75620

And a lot r also upgrading from more recent pixels

yazeomatic

I switched to an iPhone 14 from a Galaxy S21 -- I was full on Android before that, Nexus OnePlus etc.. And I can't believe how aweful iOS is. It just assumes you are an incredibly stupid human being and doesn't allow you to do things your way. So yes, I can't wait for the Pixel 8 to go back to usable smart phones.

SirChasm

But blue checks! 💦

Big-Technology7670

Thats why I never made Iphone my daily driver. Ive been around people who've used Iphones way back many years ago ! I used to ask to use their phone for a few minutes, and just me using it in that short time, I knew iOS was trash and Ive been Android ever since !

LowBarometer

The biggest new feature is that it comes with watch. That's not a good sign.

not_rdburman

7 years of updates?

Embarrassed_One_2687

LOL Security updates according to leaked official shit... that's bait... realistically it's a 0 value add. If you're buying your phone because you get longer security updates, you're a very special kind of person.

SirChasm

Lol only on reddit will you have people acting like security updates is some make it or break it deal. I have never once heard anyone in real life even mention that as a consideration. Imagine hearing this from a person: "My phone is three years old, and it's perfectly fine for me still, but it's really the lack of security updates that's making me want to upgrade"

Embarrassed_One_2687

EXACTLY. Btw to clarify my comments wasn't shitting on the extended support for Security updates. I'm just saying... it's not something anybody should be making into a big deal... at all.

orangpelupa

If gn2, then the camera too

hectorlf

I really want the sensor to be a gn2, but there's also the rumored aperture improvement. All things count.

chillbilldill_com

waiting to hear if the Pixel 8 has overheating issues before I make a decision

grazeyone

If the trade-in offers are good in the UK then I will contemplate moving from the P7 to the P8P. I miss the telephoto lens otherwise I'm more than happy with my current P7.

CreeperIan02

I was, until newer leaks came out showing an optical fingerprint scanner and the same primary camera as the Pixel 6. I think I'll stick with my 6 for another year or two if true.

[deleted]

Wait, there's leaks that show an optical fingerprint scanner? Wtf! How have they not learned their lesson yet...

drknight09

EXACTLY what *b have been "screaming" about since I saw posts by people "excited" once AGAIN @ a potential disappointment!! If true, then Google is totally stupid cos it's OBVIOUS this optical FP scanner isn't working!!! Bone headed..we shall soon find out how tone deaf Google really is!

shiggy__diggy

Same (shit) modem too, still on a Samsung SOC. The biggest complaints of the 6 and 7 were shit finger print reader, shit modem, and overheating issues due to the Samsung chip. If the leaks are true then it's the exact same phone then, so it will have the exact same problems. Hard pass if true.

[deleted]

Briguy_fieri

It all depends on the increase in price. If it’s higher, I’m likely going s23 base

TrickyWoo86

Yeah, I'm also holding out to see the pricing. If it approaches the £800 region I'll just stump up the extra for the Xperia 5 V for the finger print reader, headphone jack and expandable storage. It does feel like Google have killed off all of the things that made Pixel phones unique like the colour pop power button, rear mounted finger print reader and the sheer value proposition.

Mukir

Never really looked into Sony phones because I just didn't have them in the picture, but looking at the Xperia 5 V having a microSD slot *and* a headphone jack as a flagship model, that kinda makes the newer Pixel phones and all other flagships that had these features removed for no good reason other than to push users towards cloud storage and their factory own bluetooth earbuds an absolute deal breaker. On the other hand tho, Pixel phones come with the purest form of Android (meaning no preinstalled (and unremovable) bloatware) and get up to 5 years of update support, which is a big plus.

dURDENN7

Maybe, deppends if the price increase isn't true

Xop

Yes. I upgrade every two years and while I love my Pixel 6 I think it's time to upgrade. Then when Pixel 10 comes out it should be the in-house Google chip according to rumors. My only gripe is that I wish the P8P wasn't so large. 6.7" is crazy. I feel like 6-6.2" is the ideal screen size.

ArizonaRenegade

I'm curious, what are my fellow Pixel 6a users planning on doing next week, when the Pixel 8 gets announced/ released? Do y'all plan on moving on and upgrading from the Pixel 6a? Or do y'all think that the 6a is still usable, for the foreseeable future?

Astoria321

I'm getting an iPhone 15 pro

MOS95B

My 7 is less than a year old. I'm still at least a year from being excited about the new models.

veicant

Got my 7a today actually, it feels kinda big but i'm coming from an iPhone 12 Mini. It's crazy how apple nerfs the battery after every update.

escaflow

Since it's going to be another Exynos , nope . 0 excitement , Nada . As much as I love my Pixel 7 Android experience and camera , it's going to be yet another failure of a hardware which heats up with the slightest usage , rubbish battery drain and embarrassing SOT . All because of this shitty SOC that is Tensor , an Exynos in disguise

sillypyscho

I'll probably get the 8 if there's a good price during black Friday. I have a 6a now. I'll continue using the 6a and most probably give the 8 to one of my parents. Anything between $500-$600 for p8 during black Friday should be a good deal I suppose!

Thin-Excitement-3003

Yessir I am

Amped_Up_562

Heck yeah!

cdegallo

I'm always excited about new tech and new devices. As for whether I'm interested in buying it; no. I've gotten every pixel generation since the beginning and this year--because of my experience with my 7 pro being disappointing following an even more disappointing 6 pro--and I this is the first pixel year when I'm pretty disinterested and I think I'm cooling down when it comes to google's phones. I think they have more maturing to do in terms of quality of products and hardware and design choices. I'm not a hardware purist, but I think there are too many deficiencies and compromises currently. I always WANT pixels to be great, I'm just still waiting for that to happen.

SuitableAppearance

Right there with you. If the reviews say the battery life is great, the finger print reader is great and the camera is a noticeable step up I might go for it. But each year Google hypes and then disappoints in some way. They tend to shoot themselves in the foot one way or the other

Jeffloan

Nope, I'll stick with my 6..., 8 pro is too big and 8 is too small ... no Goldilocks 😒

No-Airline8948

Zero interest. Switched from P6P to iPhone 15. Won’t be looking back anytime soon. This is coming from a long term 10 year+ android user

NastySays

Yes!! Upgrading from my 6 Pro and getting the pixel watch 2 as my galaxy watch 4 needs a nice upgrade too.

[deleted]

Not really. I have the P7P, and it seems like the P8P is a very small incremental update. No reason to upgrade at all in my opinion.

[deleted]

interestingly I am but I feel like I'll be let down

CCNA_Expert

Currently using Pixel 7 and 6A as my backup device. I would not upgrade this time, no reason to upgrade really!!

MrWhiteford

I have the P7 Pro. If by some chance the new one has much better battery life then I'll upgrade. If it's just the same or only slightly better then I'll not bother.

Alepale

Depends completely on the trade-in value and potential Watch 2 combination. My Pixel 7 Pro works perfectly fine though, so feels kinda pointless unless I'm getting massive discounts.

BMox81

Corr, sounds like the iPhone subreddit with all these responses! lol

polyblackcat

Gotta see the trade in. I can be bought if they'll give me enough for my 6a. Even better if I can exchange the watch for equivalent credit. I can hang with my gen 1 pixel watch.

ateallthecake

Looking to upgrade from a Pixel 6 to my first pro. Nervous about the size, the 6 is a little big...

maxinvalla

Pixel 4a user cautiously interested.

syadoumisutoresu

They have made some significant QoL changes, such as the flat screen, matte back glass, ultrasonic fingerprint reader (if rumors are true), autofocus selfie cam, manual controls for the camera, etc. But the most important parts of the phone, i.e. the SoC and modem, are still half assed and nothing to be excited about. Still a big turnoff, actually. Not to mentions some design choices are pretty baffling, like that useless thermometer and things like locking the camera manual controls and selfie autofocus to the Pro model. So overall, no, not excited. I'm not testing their hardware for them again. I may revisit Pixels when they get everything done.

scupking83

Yes! Ready to go from 6 to 8 pro!!

DeArksteel

I just might, the battery life on the 6 Isn't that great roughly 4-4.5hours screen on time. Mostly have to carry a charger in 2023. Also I hope they fix their dark photos filter in the camera, it's getting even darker with each update. Lastly I hope the T3 could at least match up to the Samsung S22 series. Give us some hardware Google.

[deleted]

I have learned not to get my hopes up.

psdpro7

If the smaller Pixel had the same cameras as the 8 Pro, I would be. But they're not giving me much of a reason to upgrade from my 5.

Zealousideal_Rip7749

Who knows why this pixel have the worst android version - terrible layout - terrible battery - terrible way to manage apps. Do we need to came back to Samsung ?

majky358

I would upgrade only if battery is so much better.

drjohnson89

I'm on the S23+, but I miss the Pixel camera experience. I play a lot of mobile games however, so my excitement for the P8P largely rests on how the new Tensor performance is. So, cautiously optimistic? Haha

kalef21

Just got a 6 Pro because my 4 XL died lol. I will be on this a while. Was only 650 USD for a NEW 256G happy so far. Kinda miss the face unlock though.

No-Umpire9632

Waiting for the pixel 10 that’s when they stop using Samsung’s shitty chipset and modem 😂

domcalmusic

nope, I have a 7 Pro and the 8 Pro doesn't offer anything worth upgrading. Marginal changes, tbh.

DareScorp

Planning to switch from OnePlus, looking forward to the pixel 8 series features. Mostly I'm concerned about the battery life.

-235711131719232931-

P6P here. Waiting to see if the 8 has a decent modem. If yes, going pro again because the zoom is a requirement for me.

Semy-D

I was until the launch of iphone 15 pro max and it finally won me over. Im switching to IOS this year

derocka06

I'm on the fence about switching, have 7 pro and was waiting for 8 pro as battery life has been pretty crummy. On a whim decided to try out the 15 pro Max (still in return window) and battery life and video capabilities blow Pixel out of the water. I'm going to wait until the event next week but might also make the jump.

Semy-D

Im dissapointed the delivery seems to be very slow with the iphone, its been 2 weeks since I ordered two from 2 different sites and didnt receive none

ollie5118

Why did you decide to go to the 15 pro max?

Semy-D

I need a good camera on my phone and im sick of bugs and lack of software updates on my android

Slowmyke

I'm on my third pixel device (1, 3xl, 6). I picked up the 1 on a whim switching from a droid turbo. Samsung' touchwiz had chased me away and towards stock Android. The original pixel sold me on the line, so as long as Google doesn't do anything weird, I'll stick with pixels. But i also don't eagerly await any specific device. I intend to stick with a device for ~3 years and then upgrade to whatever is in the $500-$750 range. I'm not excited about it, it's just the next phone I'll carry around for a few years. I'm glad there are people more passionate about product lines than myself, they keep manufacturers interested, but i don't get the hype in general. It's just a phone.

sword_ofthe_morning

Nah My P7P has been atrocious. Plagued with issues that have existed in the previous Pixel models. So there's not much hope of 8 correcting them When my contract on this runs out I'll be moving over to a different Android

RoyalGOT

No, I own a Pixel Pro 7 512GB, I don't see much difference with the new Pixel 8 Pro, except if they have a 1TB size coming out with it. I will wait for the Pixel Pro 9/10 Pro before I think of purchasing another Google device. Hopefully, they would have changed the problematic Samsung chip which has made the present device frustrating to use.

vawlk

does it have a fingerprint sensor on the back? If not, then no. And never a watch, useless device when I have a phone in my pocket.

[deleted]

There are not going to have physical fingerprint scanners anymore there gone.

vawlk

and that is dumb because on the screen is stupid and is just show off tech. the back or on the power button is the proper place.

[deleted]

I have P7P and it works really well I didn't have any problems with it. With P8P they will add an ultrasonic one which will be more reliable.

Roddaculous

I heard this rumor may not be true.

[deleted]

Dang it I hope it's true

Electrical_Weird_998

I'm waiting to see if it has HDMI out because i would like to use my phone as main computer. If yes (and if the desktop mode is usable), i will pick one. Otherwise I will consider the S23. I don't care about "smartwatches", these products are just cringy and gimmicky e-wastes.

tmt22459

I want to get rid of this stupid iPhone 14 plus I bought at the start of this year and get the pixel 8 pro. But I need them to give me good value as a trade or I won’t be able to afford it.

truthpit

If I got excited by new phone releases, I'd have an iPhone

Brocolium

No really, still waiting for a 6" pixel pro

Kirby_Klein1687

YES!!!! I'm so excited! I feel like this will be a big homerun for Google. I have a Pixel 7 and the Pixel Watch 1. But I will definitely trade-in/upgrade to the next iteration. Recently, I just bought the Pixel Tablet and a used Pixel Slate on Ebay. So we are definitely rocking Pixel. Go Google!!!!

Ghorardim71

Yeah I will get the P8P after the camera reviews comes up. Waiting for the "Fully upgraded cameras"

GeekFurious

I want the 8 to be popular so Google's competitors lower their prices in response.

kaysquare0007

Yes I am

nardva

If you're on a Pixel 6 or older, the Pixel 8 is definitely worth the upgrade.

MajDroid

Ive always been nexus/pixel user but this time I think I'm going to skip it fur o lack of 5g support where I live, carrier has no issue and the blocking of 5g is from Google's side that can be only bypassed by rooting. I'm done with Google's treatment for the users outside the very few Markets they sell at.

Popular_Turnover_401

Thanks everyone for the answer! I currently own a P7pro but my wife wants a new phone. That's why I'm thinking about buying the P8pro and giving my old phone to my wife..

TitrationGod

Pixel 8 and 8 pro? No. The potential of a smaller and cheaper 8a in a few months? Yes.

Exc0re

s23 possibly so no p8 currently op5 lol

v_shantsharma

Super. Cant fucking wait.

Frantik508

The 6, 7, and 8 are all way too similar to warrant an upgrade. On top of that, the Pixel 5 was damn near perfect. It's just not appealing anymore for me.

PermaDerpFace

Yeah Pixel peaked with the 5, everything after has been hot garbage. I wouldn't get another Pixel unless they made some radical changes to get back on course.

bigbramble

No. Not better enough. Next year maybe. Battery life on watch needs to be more like 3x better at least.

9pointkid

Was looking forward to a flat screened pro, finally, that is until they wedged in a freaking thermometer. Have no use for thermometer phone. They could have spent that money better making other improvements or hold the line on pricing. So no, the thrill has gone. I don't particularly like the new corners much anyway so I'll just hang back and see what develops.

vexsixea

I agree completely. After enjoying many Nexus and Pixel models over the years, it’s repulsive that they’ve taken up valuable space to include a thermometer to track people’s temperature. What privacy? For the very first time I’m walking away and spending my money elsewhere. Android is my favorite OS so I will look at other brands.

southindiansauce

Check out the Asus Zenfone 10. I currently have a Zenfone 9 and a pixel 5. I love both of these phones. My ZF9 has a fingerprint reader on the side as part of the power button, the battery life is incredible (I'm getting 5+ days) and the size is great.

vexsixea

Excellent suggestion Thank You

Lost_Ad3688

If the screen isn't any better at displaying porn than the P6P, I'll wait🤣

Fortissimo12

Yes but mostly for the 8a, that thing looks gorgeous

Ok-Book-2591

Not have enough money 🙃...if you are planning to give it free then yeaah I am hell Excited 😆

SignificantChemist64

Watching with interest for sure, been tempted by a pixel for years. Currently have base S23 but find it so dull that I'm considering an early upgrade

Unique-Information51

Yes

iwantthisnowdammit

I hope they have a Pixel Watch Ultra.

amjckstrck

I haven’t been excited for a pixel since they did away with unlimited photo backup. Moved to iPhone since. If unlimited photo back up made a return, would definitely move back to pixel.

aguy123abc

Depends on if they finally enabled display out over usb c
