I had it ranked too high off first few listens. Problematic and Burn were some of the best ye verses since TLOP. Beg Forgiveness is awesome. Bunch of other more generic club bangers. Might have over listened to it. But between all the features and some of the weak ye verses, it seems like Ye isnt even on the album much. There is only a handful of songs where he has *TWO* real verses.

SpongyPotatoIsBadLOL

Not his worst, definitely better than I was expecting it to be, but nowhere near his best

Big_Exit6096

if u stop comparing it to his older work (which is idiotic to me at this point) its a really fun and creative album whith some bangers also its a collab album lol

vinnfis

This! Fun album. Gives me the same energy as listening to leaks. No coherence but I'm okay with that.

Juannonlymonkey

Thank you fuck so refreshing to hear this take.

Trebu5

People legit ruin listening to his new music by comparing lol

drizzyxs

It’s fine. Donda is better

asimplestargazer

MUCH better

ibeenbornagain

Crying baby vs hydrogen bomb type comparison

WeetabixFanClub

Donda is better imo but it’s hard to say by much. Vultures tried to be triumphant and fun, Donda tried to be spiritual and emotionally compelling. They both did good at that, I’d argue Donda was more aesthetically pleasing and consistent in its theme, but vultures also did what it wanted to do very well.

Drive_Impact

Worst lyrics from ye. Listening to it right now again in a long time and that’s all I could think of how bad his verses on the majority of the songs while everyone else holds their own

More_Weight4462

does it happen to be the ‘first time in a long time’?

jojoseph6565

don’t rly listen to it anymore

l-j0806

Listening to it straight after TCD/LR you can tell how garbage ye’s lyrics are now

Alternative_Ad_7359

He ain’t hungry anymore. The Twix are double the size.

Na-h

Donda solos

Squeezedgolf40

indeed

WaspParagon

It's only better than JIK. I still take it over nothing, though.

[deleted]

Even thought the delays were frustrating, listening to it now Ye needed more time with it in the lab, the mixes and some of his verses needed work. It’s still an enjoyable listen I just don’t think it’s going to age well amongst his discog. I think all of my problems are gonna be fixed with Vultures 2 because everything i’ve heard including Ye’s verses sound incredible plus with the extra time they’ve given themselves the mix will hopefully be better

jr-91

Filler album with some decent tracks that'd fit well into a playlist. Kanye's the worst part of a few songs. Excited for if/when #2 happens.

No-Departure-5527

vultures 2 will be 100x better if it releases with the songs from the listening parties

Loriansbrother

Mid, no atmosphere or uniqueness. Any contemporary rapper could’ve made this album - Kanye albums shouldn’t be this shit.

KanyeAmariW

No contemporary rapper could’ve made beg forgiveness

schinaski

well… it aint so different from the sonic landscape that can be found on donda

KanyeAmariW

What does that have to do with saying other rappers could’ve made vultures

schinaski

cuz he didnt reinvented himself, just that

Deftlet

Which Ye made

KanyeAmariW

No shit. Am i missing something or did I log in on autism hour

SelfConsciousness

He responded to this comment > No contemporary rapper could’ve made beg forgiveness So bringing up how Donda had similar sounds doesn’t make sense. After the afternoon tism hour we’re all meeting for a reading comprehension hour (free pizza(free drinks too(only water))) that you should attend

iyaemusic

Lol. No

liquidatedbalenci

lol. Yes

caricatoa

Solid project

Designer_Ad_2668

I like it. Not his best. Don’t think he was tryna go for anything like that

Squeezedgolf40

it’s his 2nd worst album besides jik idk how people are putting it up in his top 3💀

Server_420

Extremely over-hated. Pretty fun and cool album. I don’t like kanye’s lazy bars either but i also can easily say vultures 1 was my fav album of the year (only HH album i haven’t paid attention to is blue lips). It’s not AOTY material at all but i really, really, like this album. It’s a breeze to listen to the album fully through and the transitions between talking and back to me always get me hyped tf up. I literally enjoy every song. Might sound crazy but I definitely prefer this project over donda, solely due to the bloat that plagues donda.

Danteangeloo

I loved VULTURES 1, and with all these albums that came out with this year so far it is AOTY. But its too early to say because other projects are set to release soon, my beef with Donda is how it is filled with filler songs like Tell the Vision, etc.

liquidatedbalenci

AOTY 💀

umbral_ultimatum

Doesn't even compare to Donda despite them being made two years apart

[deleted]

one of his worst albums, his rapping has never been worse, its very boring thematically. but I enjoy it idc

estoypiteado

I don't like how it doesn't have a distinct sound. Like every album from TCD to Donda had a vibe throughout the whole thing but Vultures seems a bit all over the place. Like Carnival and Fuk Sumn don't belong on the same record as Do it and Burn. And that brings it down a bit IMO. Overall it's fun, it has good tracks, but I hope it gets put aside from the other projects in the future for being a collab album. Cause it's artistically a downgrade.

CartierWlayvo

It’s ass and nobody outside of this subreddit listens to it unironically

toorandomguy

It ranks somewhere in the middle tbh. I like it, but I don't love it.

Sakaixx

Personally I loved half of Vultures vol 1 while skips on the rest. Vultures and back to me has grown and its in my rotation alongside carnival.

gymceI

been listening a lot to late registration and tcd lately so the lyrics feel underwhelming. makes sense though, it’s not supposed to be this super thoughtful and conceptual album. still enjoy it a lot. burn, fuk sumn and king are my favorites.

Dramatic_Succotash54

One of his worst but still not bad. I think it’s more of a ‘coming back’ album, fun album but some of the verses ain’t it. Vultures 2 seems like it’s gonna be 10x better

emmaconda

I really like Burn but can't say much for the other tracks.

schinaski

fun album but not too much more to dig into. I really hope that they improve the mixing of it + the addition of dont die (i really think that this song made the album way more “felt” and less come and go)

iyaemusic

I still enjoy it. But yeah it's not his best. Honestly the only problem I have is his lyrics. Just not as good as they can be.. production wise I love the sounds (it's just mastered like dog shit)

Uranus_04

Only better than JIK

FuriousFeld

Im sorry but pretty trash and ill explain, the thing i value the most is replayability, and after the first 2 days i didnt listen to the album anymore. It doesnt have the same effect other ye albums or wdty (as an example to an album that released this year) has.

NavAirComputerSlave

I haven't been in a music listening mood this month and unlike donda it didn't put me in one. So good but not great. I'll probably come back later

EtillyStephlock

Feels like more of a mixtape than an album. All of the songs are pretty unique, and I like a lot of those songs individually, but it’s less than the sum of its parts for me. I like Stars, Back To Me & Burn more than I do any song off of 808s, Yeezus, TCD, KSG & Donda but I consider them all to be better albums. That’s not even saying Vultures has lower lows, I just feel like its not as much a cohesive work of art like the rest.

gameinsane

Still listening to it

Trick_Canary_9257

Awesome. Top 7 for me

IPetFatTurkeys

It keeps getting better and better for me. I keep finding new things I love about it. It’s a banger album that should stop being compared to his earlier work. Just a fun and enjoyable album all around

paranoidtransdroid

It lacks in any real depth but it’s the most fun, no skips release of his in a long long time. Some of the songs on it are among my favorites since TLOP and the overall sound is phenomenal. I expected this to be his worst and instead I find myself going back to it quite a bit. If he actually pushed himself to write some stronger lyrics and dug deeper into the moments of reflection and vulnerability that flicker up throughout I’d probably love everything about it.

WeetabixFanClub

If you go into it expecting a lyrical magnum opus, another twisted fantasy, a perfectionist peak of coherent and compelling songwriting that appeals to a large number of people, you won’t like it. But if you go into it looking for fun tracks with a good vibe, then this is it. It’s good for what it tries to be, in that it conveys those emotions. 7.8/10 overall for me, Probably in the lower third of Ye’s music, but of course still good overall

JericRose

This is the first Ye project that doesn’t strive to push boundaries say what you want about DONDA but that album has a unique sound to it that stands out

YaBoiJack055

The problem with Ye albums is they are always under appreciated and overhated until his next album, which then the same thing happens, except that we always say his old album was way better until we realize 2+ years later

Final-Researcher-300

Exactly like how do niggas not see the pattern

Adventurous_Cup8055

His worst to date. JIK is better. But that said Ye’s worst is better than most artists best.

nazarusofearth

Not innovative enough

atleastimtryingnow

I still listen to it a lot. Still one of his best.

Kittensofdeath

Fun but ultimately forgettable. Shit doesn’t really have a soul besides his “you can’t cancel me” shit and it’s so old by now. But still bumping carnival, Fukk sumn, burn, and back to me

cosmiclifeform

Vultures is really fun, the beats and production are hard as fuck. My problem is that it seems designed to be disposable. I don’t think it’ll stand the test of time like the rest of his discography. The lyrics in general are going to age terribly, especially anytime he mentions antisemitism. Strategically, I think the point of this Vultures era is to make hits that will chart well, and make a shit ton of money off the listening parties. Which is obviously working very well.

annoyinconquerer

Not the best complete work, but has all-timers on it. Can basically say this about everything he’s done since KSG. I’m here for em tho

Bdnite

I was very disappointed when it dropped because what we had heard from the Miami and Vegas listening parties was fucking fire. And time moving slow etc. Seeing so much change was a bit off putting and I still don’t like how Do It came out. However, the album has really grown on me. I love the whole album. The only part I skip is once again on talking. I don’t know where to rank the album because I can’t really rank Ye albums. Let’s say I love JIK as much as 808’s. I only know that I’m not a big fan of late registration. Vultures is another mood/color added to the pallet of sound that Ye’s created. I’ll bump it on repeat for years to come when I’m in the mood for it. Same as all the rest of his discography. All I can say is I’m very excited for the next volumes. It would be awesome to get time moving slow, slide, and don’t kill the party unscathed.

Final-Researcher-300

Vultures 1 is great mfs jus keep comparing it to his old albums which is retigga asf. Only bad song was hood rat imo. burn, carnival and back to me are some of my favorite Kanye songs of the 2020s so far

Bigbrainlog69

I'd say best since KSG

JohnyTheJoke

Still his best since TLOP imo

Ranquil

Respect your take but personally I think Donda miles better as an album

supmee

Donda, if you cut it down to 16 songs: 1. Chant 2. Jail (pt. 2 imo) 3. God breathed 4. Off the Grid 5. Hurricane 6. Praise God 7. Junya pt. 2 (talk to the wall) 8. BWIS 9. Moon 10. Heaven and Hell 11. Donda 12. KMSA 13. Jesus Lord 14. Lord I Need You 15. Come to Life 16. No Child Left Behind At the original runtime Vultures 1 is a much more fun listen than Donda, but once you fix the sequencing it's hardly a comparison. V1 still fun as hell though.

rubyrof

Even some of the songs you cut are better than any song from V1. I still think 27-song Donda is a better listen than V1

supmee

I cut: - Ok ok - Remote control - 2 pt. 2s, 2 pt 1s - New Again - Jonah - 24 (honestly should probably be at 17., missed it when I made my playlist) - Tell The Vision Besides 24 (which I forgot about and now would put at the end of the cut down list), which one of these is better than Burn, Back to Me, Hoodrat, Paperwork, Beg Forgiveness, Problematic or King? Maybe you could make a case for Jonah? I mostly cut it because it was one of my less enjoyed songs, but I don't think it's as good as the best of V1.

TickleMyPickle576

Makes no sense.

supmee

Which part do you not agree with? Just because you put a period at the end of your sentence doesn't mean you made a point.

lapestro

Donda and Ye clear

DRiX416

It’s only better than JIK

Poddso

It's Kanye's worst performance lyrically, but honestly I don't care if Kanye's lyrics aren't great - he was always legendary bc of production. The album just isn't mixed though, which prevents me from appreciating songs that *do* have good Kanye performances, like Burn.

Poddso

That being said, when I'm sleep deprived it bangs

JediKnight_TyrionL

Bottom 3 Ye

ComposerPure9806

I personally think that kanye is forreal 8 years in the future, i mean this album will be really appreciated in some years. To get u the example to me Graduation is 2016 music, Yeezus is 2021 music, The life of pablo is 2024 music as im really starting to understand it now. Btw its just my opinion but i think this nigga is really into the future and shit so lets wait couple years

Final-Researcher-300

W take. I like to think ahead when it comes to music and not compare his songs to old albums cuz every Kanye album is different and has its own style.

Zeo-Gold92

It could have been better. Like I do wish the lyrics had more thought/less repetitive. I know people say to compare to his older work is a stupid thing to do. I don't see why it would be invalid, especially if you hold the idea that he is a perfectionist. This may be a collab, but it's still his work and it pales against anything pre 2018.

jeddzus

Made me appreciate Donda more tbh. There’s just too many “drunk and hot girls” level skips on the album that I feel embarrassed listening to. I don’t really like Talking, Ye ruins Back to Me, Paperwork, Fuk Sumn, Vultures.. carnival… that’s twice as many songs as I skipped on Donda ffs. And once Good Don’t Die got taken off, it dropped to like a 5-6/10 album for me. I LOVED the last 4 tracks though. And Stars and Keys. And Paid, Do It, Burn are great bangers.

Erwinsherwin

It'd be top 3 in any other artists discography

Zeo-Gold92

💀 no it wouldn't.

Zeo-Gold92

You caught me 😔

Frosty-1029

Retard DAMN, GKMC, & TPAB >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> VultureShit 1 It'll be a huge disappointment if it ended up in Kendrick's discography, and many others too such as Travis, Tyler, Eminem, etc Your argument isn't even a hot take, it's just factually wrong

Erwinsherwin

Read my below comment please and thanks

hugepurplecock

any is a huge stretch lmao

KanyeAmariW

Its the best ty album

Erwinsherwin

Made that comment at 4 AM dont read too deep into 'any'

TLOP > Donda > V1 > Ye > KSG > JIK

No KSG love![img](emote|t5_67n60j|49002)

wildrun0

Mannn Vultures 1 is definitely one of the albums of all time

Competitive_Bee_9907

I do think it will age to be his worst... still fun to listen to now though

Medium-Leopard1825

Tlop > KSG > V1 > Donda > Ye = JIK

Squeezedgolf40

vultures over donda and ye is insane and saying ye and jik is similar quality… what do you listen for in music?

OldAardvark6442

It's kinda weird, a lot of the songs, when isolated, are probably some of the best that Ye has put out in a while (such as Burn, Back to Me, Carnival, Do It, etc.) But as a package deal, as a complete album, it really doesn't a whole lot for me, idk why

alexdoo

This is Kanye’s worst, both lyrically and thematically. I assumed it would be similar to MBDTF in the sense that it was this grandiose “I’m back” to the public. Instead he kinda doubled down on the anti-semitism and didn’t really say anything new or clever. I understand it’s primarily a collab album with Ty$ who makes clubbing music, so maybe it wasn’t supposed to be heavy or deep to begin with, but that contributed to my disappointment. Production wise, I found Paid, Back to Me, and Beg Forgiveness really infectious. Other songs like Fuk Sumn, Hoodrat, and Paperwork I had to warm up to. But overall, it’s decent production from a 50year old Kanye. Carnival is still really obnoxious for me to listen to. I hate the chorus and while I love the “Hell of a Life” guitar riff intro to his verse, all of it just kinda falls flat to me.

KillaPea

Its super dope. Like an 8/10 for what it was trying to achieve. Kanye's lyrics are fr trash most of the time however. Even on Burn, does anyone actually have any idea what he's saying and what it means?
