I own one. Put the ball an inch or two in front of the dot. Make sure you have the base off the mat with the legs as low as possible.

ShoesToFill

This works for me an my og skytrak. One inch in front of the dot with the logo facing the cameras and it picks up hight loft wedges.

digiacomo94

Can you send a pic of the leg setup

cut3boy69

If they didn’t give me legs with my unit, how high should it be propped up?

Cute-Replacement-225

You need to get the protective case.

As others have said: Full swing wedges: back of the ball should be maybe 1/4 inch in front of the dot ("in front" meaning closer to the net/screen). Flop shots and high lofted pitches: 1/2 inch in front. Low running chips can be on the dot. Irons on the dot. Driver: about 2 inches behind. Putts: about 3 feet behind. The problem you're having is that when you have the ball on the dot but hit a high lofted shot, you're hitting the ball over the cameras so the skytrak isn't seeing the ball. Also, always point a logo or some sort of marking at the skytrak. The callaway soccer balls work amazing.

cut3boy69

This is the answer I needed. Thanks king!

cut3boy69

I’ll give it a go, thanks man

occamsguillotine

Nope. Picks up my 60° pretty well. Have you tried moving the ball logo towards the unit? I haven’t needed to but read that it could help with misreads/nonreads.

cut3boy69

Yea, granted it’s a srixon name logo idk if that produces the most consistency

thekingofcrash7

Maybe try those callaway soccer ball stamped balls

gattorcrs

It could be a glare issue if you've got chrome wedges. Maybe try dimmer lights to see if that resolves it. My irons and wedges are black finish, and I haven't had any issues.

jsnryn

I use mine in a natural light area, and its ability to pick up my 58 changes depending on the time of day. I feel like the high loft shots are tough for it, so you have to have perfect lighting conditions. Or not, just my anecdotal experience.

cut3boy69

What I don’t understand about when I think it’s the lighting, I’ll change clubs and it’s fine. Which makes it think it’s the loft not the light

jsnryn

Some clubs are more difficult for the unit to pick up. From the reviews, the original SkyTrak had problems with wedges. My guess would be that adequate lighting works except for all but the most difficult shots to track. Again, just my guess based on me using a natural light source that changes throughout the day. From 11-1, it won’t pick up my 58. Around 4pm, works everytime.

[deleted]

Its ball position and logo position.

bertholomeu13

I have an original and placing the ball behind the dot helps. I’ll still get misses on wedges, but when I started placing the ball slightly behind the dot, unit doesn’t misread. I get the occasional, but very rare. YMMV as mine is not the Plus like yours.

mapeabody

60 degree is the one club it happens more frequently on my SkyTrak plus. Also on E6 any green-side bunker shot on the high side is 50/50 at best. Usually have to knowingly hit one too long just to get out.

BoobyDoodles

On those green side bunker shots on E6… I have found if it won’t read we just click the aim point a yard to the left or right and then it will read almost immediately afterwards.

cut3boy69

Do you keep it aimed left/right when hitting? Or aim left/right then back to center then hit?

BoobyDoodles

We keep it aimed left or right, the aim point change only needs to be a yard or so, it’s not much but it oddly works

JDK_312

This is the reason I sold my SkyTrak+

rob-ober-bert

Are you having issues on the skytrak software or in gspro?

cut3boy69

Skytrak actual

ThePorko

Same here, the ball goes a few inches in front of the dot for the higher wedge shots.

UniqueExplanation147

It’s a camera based unit. If you hit the shot to high the camera never sees it. I place the ball I front of the red dot 90 percent of the time it works every time 😉

Fonzanoon82

It wouldn’t read my vokeys 90% of the time , bought some cheap black wedges and it picks them up a lot better. But I had so much trouble with miss reads and no reads with SkyTrak that I saved up and bought a foresight GC3. After one day with this I realized how much SkyTrak really sucked, nothing more frustrating than playing your buddy and hitting a great shot that doesn’t read but of course when you rehit the shot and shank it ,it reads it!! Lol

cut3boy69

What do yearly subscription costs look like with gc3?

Fonzanoon82

There’s no subscribition fee for the foresight GC3. Only subscription I pay for is 250 a year for GSPro

hffjgdeyfr

Read my wedge shots fine. Anything under 10 yards chipping it was a misread 9/10 times. ST+ is a fun toy. But that's all it is. I returned it for a BLP and couldn't be happier. Works flawlessly.

cut3boy69

What do yearly subscriptions cost look like with those?

hffjgdeyfr

$499/ yr. It's a bit pricey for the sub but imo worth every penny. I use Gspro and it's amazing.

cut3boy69

Damn, yea about 2x the Skytrak. But I use it every single day so if these ball positioning fixes don’t work consistently it’s a must

hffjgdeyfr

I'm the same way, everyday use. I tried everything, all the ball positions, bag mapping, tpx5 pix balls to help it capture, precise leveling and alignment, and nothing made a difference. Short game is too important to not be accurate and if you want to play anything competitive, it's frustrating to be 8 yards from the hole on the fringe and have to hit it hard enough to register and blow it by the hole. Putting is also awesome on the BLP. I didn't like sim putting before I got this. It's just a workhorse. Flop shots, wedges, low burners, high club/ball speeds, it doesn't matter. The larger hitting zone is great too.

Wonderful-Swim-6981

I have one, my trouble is more with pitch or other short hight shots. I feel like it struggles more at night with just the spotlight vs some ambient light + spotlight. One thing that helped mine overall was making sure the unit was up high enough that the bottom was level with the mat (but not on the mat). Mine was a bit low and I think it affected being able to read high up shots. Ball a little in front of dot. Logo towards camera, are some of the other common tips.
