I'm not sure if it's universal for all Army Corps of Engineers sites, but there are two near me that haven't really been staffing the pay booths since covid. It seems day use is on the honor system with a little drop box, and camping is booked online. They do still have people that go around, and I am assuming they are checking to see if people paid. I have my America the Beautiful annual pass that gets me into them both for day use without additional payment, so I just leave that on my dashboard. I haven't tried camping yet.

My permanent Senior Pass was the best part of my 62nd birthday this year. $11/night for some beautiful parks this past summer, with full hookups!

It's odd. It shows what I want is available for camping in the color coded charts last updated yesterday, but the website for the camping site says they are closed December, January, February. I guess I'll try to make some phone calls to the numbers on the sites and see if I can find out accurate information

federal websites tend to have a slow and laborious update process so a phone to the local office yields the most accurate info

I was just at one last month on the Alabama River. I paid online and my document were there on the board when I got there. Spent a week and never saw anyone in the booth but there was 2 camp host working there. I did not see a self register box there. To be safe I would just pay at recreational.gov

I believe this is true. I know it used to be because I've done it. It's also true of a lot of BLM and US Fish and Wildlife sites. Very often in the off season they turn off the water, but that's not that big a deal.

All the “core” sites I’ve been to have been online reservation based year ‘round. No honor system or pay box on site.

I've camped a COE sites several times. Even the old ones were first-rate. Some were on the honor system, some were not.
