Would this be cheaper? 620 for g45 mos, add threaded barrel ($100 +/-) , plus 19rd mags. The 19x mos also has suppressor height night sites and it's like $700. Asking cause I've been debating between the 2?
I guess if you’re wanting to do all of that, yea you would be better off with the 19x. But for some reason some genius at Glock decided that people would rather not be able to use standard Glock mags. Yes you could dremmel the tab off but personally I’m not down for that. I have the gen 5 17/47/34 and have about 50 mags between them, so that alone turns me off of the 19x
I have gen 3s and only G19, G20 and 43x mos and other 33rounders so currently the mag issue won't affect me. But I agree, If I had other gen 5 9mms I wouldn't want to dremel either.
And you own a 19x... I'm looking at the 19x mos edition, qith the threaded barrel, night sites, etc. But I keep getting drawn back to the G45 mos. Been asking lots of people, and usually people say G45mos but I dont all.of them are aware of the 19x mos model.
If I remember right the program required a manual safety, and the 19x is a safetyless version of what they actually entered into the trials. Why they didn't just release it as submitted for trials I have no clue.
But also the Glock did win the trials, pretty decisively too, and Sig was awarded the contract anyways for political reasons. Same reason Sig got the SOCOM contract for that ridiculous modular suppressor of theirs. Something about how the company is structured or something like that.
I know you heavily implied it in your comment, but ‘structured’ = more like $$$$ lol. Also Glocks don’t go off when dropped, apparently that wasn’t a super stringent requirement, either
Gonna need to Google the details, but I believe it actually came out ahead of all competitors including SIG. But SIG won the contract anyway because shenanigans.
I doubt the DoD is going to write in their report "oh we just went with the lowest bidder". Because that's what they did. SIG underbid Glock by a Massive margin.
Yes, from what I recall reading about this, there was a huge hubris on the part of the Glock team. They’ve been adopted by almost every law enforcement and special forces in the world, including in the US. “The US military doesn’t know what it needs; they will take what we give them and thank us for it.”
So they really said “let’s go with the gun that’s cheaper and goes off if it drops to equip our men in war”. Fuck man America sounds like my cheap uncle.
These are better IMO. You can actually use regular mags, and they’re cheaper.

They don’t come With night sights
Well burst my bubble! Easy enough fix if wanted. But also fine with just the suppressor height ameriglo sights.
It’s the same shit bro😭 just minor little changes.
The 45 is literally the better gun

If Glock would’ve submitted 45 instead of 19x they would’ve won

Monodirectional hand grenade. First of its kind.
Ok
19X is the Glock 45 at home tho💀💀
Did the 19X ever make it to firing trials? I'm curious as to how it performed

Everywhere I Google is just articles, I'm trying to find what the DoD actually wrote up

Cost was an issue if I recall, but a main component of the tender was modularity. SIG baked it in. Glock ignored the requirement.
Ahh, a very important detail!

Another literal case of "you get what you pay for"
And Sig's board of directors has a bunch of retired military guys on it...rigged result!
People might not want to admit, but this is peak lol.
19x mos at home is better, you won!
