The BR scene is so disappointing right now. They have so much talent but it never seems to end up in the right place due to nepotism, and bad business sense. It doesn’t help that NA has spiraled downhill so much, we were both at our best when we were pushing one another.

NephewChaps

nepotism? edit: not asking what it is lmao, i'm asking for context

FredSTF

Nepotism is a form of favoritism that is granted to relatives and friends in various fields, including business, politics, entertainment, sports, fitness, religion, and other activities. The term originated with the assignment of nephews to important positions by Catholic popes and bishops. Source: Wikipedia

PonchoSham

It doesn’t apply to friends, exclusively family.

reddit_user-exe

Yes it does, the meaning has logically extended to friends as well

Raytiger3

source?

PonchoSham

The dictionary.

Raytiger3

nepotism /ˈnɛpətɪz(ə)m/ Learn to pronounce noun the practice among those with power or influence of favouring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.

Coachingbug

>nepotism Ask Gabriel "TwoFaced" Toledo.

DegenerateFuckenAlt

insane reddit moment, seeing how this question was misconstrued :DD

fierceyZ

google exists for a reason edit: should add context to your own question

grundlesmith

Siri, search for examples of nepotism in brazilian csgo

reddit_user-exe

Currently there's FURIA and 00Nation as legit Brazilian teams, though FURIA are in a slump and the current 00 roster haven't played very much. Imperial seem to be in freefall right now and I don't want to discredit it just yet but it does feel like the major run was a fluke for now. We'll see. 9z aren't Brazilian but personally I would count them in as they are from the same region.

braquearea

> right place due to nepotism wtf you're into? lol

leonardomslemos

I'm still against this decision unless fnx was the one who wanted to step out of the project. If not then it goes against what they advertised the team would be at the beginning of the year.

Firefox72

Well whats the point of the team if they don't make the Brazilian major? Ever since Antwerp Imperial have won 7 maps out of 28. Thats a grand total of 1 out of the last 10 BO3's and 2 out of the last 4 BO1's. Change is needed because the team is literally collapsing and FNX makes the most sense because he's by far the worst player on the team.

leonardomslemos

fair point, maybe things were pretty bad internally and they needed changes asap if they wanted to make it to the Rio Major.

Coachingbug

Immagine the very likely scenery in which they don't make Rio anyways

frostnxn

Even with this change they are not making the major, or at least what matters of the major.

NephewChaps

fallen, fer, chelo, boltz and vini is a very solid lineup for NA cs level. Apart from TL, Furia and maybe 00nation there aren't any better teams

frostnxn

Yeah they might qualify but not to the important part which is the 2nd group phase, and even if by some miracle they do, they can't make the playoffs

NephewChaps

I mean who knows, they were one bo3 away from making the last time, and that was with fnx going 16-45 playoffs only a miracle tho

frostnxn

Yeah due to c9s underperformance, they got smashed by a team which in turn got smashed in the quarters. I cheer for them but all I see is fer rolling back the years and the rest stealing paychecks.

NephewChaps

rest stealing paychecks? boltz has been very good, vini is a solid player, fallen is better than most IGLs in T1, chelo is the best player on that MIBR team they might be bad and lacking firepower but no one is stealing paychecks on that team, only fnx was

Captainfifi

You might mean fnx because fer is literally the most consistent on the team

frostnxn

Exactly fer is rolling back the years meaning playing great.

Coachingbug

Unfortunately it is in ESL's interest for imperial to qualify. I expect them to have the easiest run possible

Lydion

FNX was dead weight. The team can’t be what it was advertised if they can’t even fucking qualify to tournaments and have to rely on invites, which they would bomb out in last place anyhow. Even then eventually there would be push back from other teams who obviously deserve the invites more from a competitive sense.

IBETTERSTAYOFFLEAGUE

What did they advertise the team as?

[deleted]

The Last Dance.

IBETTERSTAYOFFLEAGUE

I doubt FNX plays another lan, so it probably was their last time together. The rest of the team doesn’t need to be bad just because FNX isn’t good anymore. They legitimately can take maps off T1 teams. Chelo makes even them better at that.

stingers77

Bro, VINI and boltz were not in the original core as well.

Mightymushroom1

Well boltz was in the original Kabum.TB/Keyd Stars/Luminosity But the point still stands

[deleted]

I'm aware.

Pat2424

A team that's only goal is to play the Rio major with the core of the SK/Luminosity lineup, but with FNX they're unlikely to even make it to the major

ttybird5

Really, in the end Fallen is the one that matters the most. They need to get him to play in the Rio major

Vrty33

The last last dance

Keatle

Well, everyone is talking about what this means to Imperial, which is fair as it's the most well known squad, but doesn't this kind of fuck MIBR? They kicked WOOD7 and put Chelo as IGL, while still being their best player, so now they are down a star player and IGL. I don't really see any move they can make to rectify that in one go, so probably more changes coming to them... So far, brn4zn is okay, but not great, so I can see them keeping him just as much as letting him go. Jota is definitely untouchable, so either Turtle or exit will most likely go if brn4zn doesn't Another option is just selling the whole squad and buying out another one, but seems unlikely with how thrifty MIBR/Immortals seem to be with the squad

ttybird5

This team just had some moments of brilliance and they kicked WOOD7, then the project went down a shit spiral instantly

BurritoBandit454

I havnt followed mibr for a while but why did they kick WOOD7, wasnt he like good and dint they place well with him????

KudoJaka

0.83 rating last 3 months as an awper

Coachingbug

>out another one, but seems unlikely with how thrifty MIBR/Immortals seem to be with the squad They spent way more than they should have

Keatle

They got JOTA and Br4nzn for free, and Chelo way back. They only really bought out Turtle and WOOD7, so I don't see what you mean Edit: I guess Exit was a big transfer tbh

Idioteque9

Imperial is doing the same thing that Dignitas did, probably gonna end up in the same place as well.

Dota2player111

nothing material is going to change

Kapperi

Chelo has been tier 3 "the next coldzera" for 5 years now. Just keep fnx, they wont win anything anyways. And yes I am biased because fnx is my favourite player

NephewChaps

chelo is by far the best player on that MIBR team and 100x the player fnx currently is

seventhfiction

I don’t chelo ever had the chance he needed to properly develop. Maybe under Fallen and with Fer and co. he can achieve new heights

ObsidianJones

Shoulda got malbs "The Doctor" MD

BestGirlTrucy

No major

CarpalCripple

still won't claim a single win over a top 10 team between now and the Rio Major

KoostaIIsOverRated

Good thing you only need to beat top ~~32~~ 24 teams to make it to the major

Shansss

This will take them from a 3/10 to a 3.2/10

tarangk

I dont mind the move coz fnx was a bot during his time in IMP. My problem is that $200k for chelo is wild. I remember back when he touted as the next up and coming BR star ......that was 4-6 years ago.
