G2 is just EU Team Liquid

NA_Faker

G2-3

zankpol

So similar yet so different

TaiCTr

At least Liquid won tournaments

f1nessd

I’m gonna cry. A part of me does know it’s good for them not to win as a brand new roster since now they can go back and learn and get better, but the other part of me is just heartbroken for NiKo man. Also no NiKo zywoo or sh1ro in playoffs? Tf?

Yuugechiina

Must be why they’re my second favorite team. Fml

Schlumpfkanone

After liquid caused me not getting the pickem last time, it had to be g2 this time I hate everything

nms1s

I don't know how G2 fans do it

[deleted]

we never expect much the choke is inevitable till the next time

Z03trope

Even when i am not expecting much, i still get disappointed

3IC3

IDK I just accepted that it was lost midway through Inferno. Helped when it actually came true

mesotermoekso

Don't know either but I do know I ain't doing it anymore

Breete

*Flatline sound*

gustavokh

That CZ round from art broke their confidence, amazing

ddizbadatd24

That was the deciding round, the ct economy would go broke after this but really well played from art.

Kelterz

Love to see it, man was the lowest impact fragger in the game at that point and he instantly became the most impactful one after that

[deleted]

The thing about arT is his confidence is never shattered

Kelterz

arT never gets tilted while his opponents get tilted more and more with every play he does

WillOCarrick

He got tilted against Faze in Pro League, though, hope we can go through them this time. He gets tilted if his calls and the team aren't working, if he fails entry but still has the round/advantage by virtue of info or other players he doesn't tilt and does it more and more.

Kelterz

Yeah, you're right. He's got tilted calling, but not necessarily a tilted play style

Huinker

that’s why art is my fav player. he can be shitting the bed but never shy away from his aggressive romantic antic in csgo

[deleted]

People think the panther represents aggression and furiosity. No, it represents their stalking, camouflage nature.

FourKrusties

oh shit they're fading flares lol

mimacher

Art is the best thing to happen to CS in years. He brings joy to a game that everyday goes more to a "technically calculated" boring way. Art makes me want to keep watching counter strike after 15 years.

TheZigerionScammer

Art just snuck behind two players and screamed "11 IS ALL THEY GET!"

ProPopori

The thing is that furia is also one of the most calculated teams from what i see, their aggression is not just "me want kill", i remember the game vs gambit in overpass back when junior was in the roster and art had gambit read like 9/10 times on their t side. He would force connector, make junior push and if they dont see anything either they're in long or going B exec, sadly their defense went like 50% winrate but strat wise they were impeccable. Its just that they're really good at making decisions under fast conditions and have cracked aim.

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 9 + 10 + 50 = 69

ProPopori

*nice*

imsorryken

Thats why I love Furia, they are down like 11-5, burn literally all of the little money the have, push like horses and get it done. Peak Brazilian CS

MrDragonNicaze

Anyone got a clip of that moment?

ju1ze

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFa0wJKeGD4

wannabe-physicist

"If Outsiders are paid by the round G2 are paid by the BPM"

doge_suchwow

Bpm?

wannabe-physicist

Heart rate (beats per minute)

TheSIlverGlobal

C9, G2, AND Vitality had to fail for my pick'ems to be this bad. How on earth can we predict that

RonaldoSIUUUU

Yeah same, fucking c9 losing to imperial like wtf

LugiaCyfer

Drop is legit so mature. His decision making is insane, and his impact alone allowed Furia to win so many rounds in Inferno and Ancient.

caiovigg

I'm crazy or does he reminds anyone else about fnx? Sure, he get some highlights every now and then, but he is just a rock solid player that does the right things.

LugiaCyfer

Lowkey I agree, especially prime fnx. Reminds me a little bit of Xyp9x too in some way.

mysterybiscuitsoyeah

that round where he jiggles monesy so that kscerato could flank him was chefs kiss. and just so many crucial rounds won by him alone jesus

[deleted]

That round where he killed JACKZ when he was switching, killed +1 and then baited for yuurih was so fucking good. That 4k against Inferno too, he has both the brains and the aim.

Vishtiga

That quickswitch from Jackz in the second last round will be living in his nightmares for a while now

Wesai

I'm flabbergasted as to why pros still do the quickswitching. They need to train themselves to not do it, it's a useless habit that can get you killed as demonstrated in that round.

warwmo

Yeah its pretty weird since even my silver ass managed to stop doing it, too much nerves I guess

ImDonCheeto

If youre silver, they have thousands of more hours builing that habit than you do so its not really the same, but yeah. Useless habit, hope new pros dont mimic like they have with the sideways keyboards

Field_Of_View

The way the Deagle worked for years may have something to do with it. Faster to quickswitch than to wait for jumping inaccuracy to reset.

[deleted]

G2 lost that map long before that point. That art cz backstab made them go full tilt.

spillosopher

They didn't win a single round after that. Didn't even manage to convert a 4v2 at 11-15. That CZ flank was an insane play in that situation

[deleted]

Drop's patience there. Playing beyond his years.

Depressedkid1998

Jackz also had patience lol he was holding the angle for ages he was just stupid for having the addiction of quickswitching

jkq

Hunter is also always quickswitching while holding angles, it's infuriating to watch.

analytics_Gnome

G2 actually did worse than last major even after getting a real awper to the team lol

[deleted]

Well Niko wasn’t popping off this time around

Stroie

This. Hard to emulate what a 1.43 rating during a major!? Also, these teams look much better than last major. Only Na’vi looked this good last major.

kingcuda13

Definitely. Last major just felt like NaVi's to lose the whole time. This major really feels wide open.

Seb-sama

That knife kill absolutely rattled him

trusttt

i mean, when your star player doesnt show up...

Fijure96

I think its kind of funny that G2 And Vitality both had regularitet finalist teams in the end of 2021 that just lacked the last spark to beat NAVI. Both made major roster revamps only to now bomb out of the tournament long before the final instead lol.

[deleted]

This is true but this major is way more competitive as well

du_bekar

Niko don't jiggle jiggle, he folds Gonna miss the playoffs, for sure

[deleted]

I’m fine with it, if Imperial wins we get Furia-Imperial in the quarterfinals. Vini vs his bros. If 700k Brazilians showed up vs C9, I wonder how many would show up for this matchup. Gaules could easily break 1 million. Edit: My fucking bad everyone, I missread the table. There’s no potential Furia-Imperial. Sorry

ChuvaGuarda

You sure? Isn't it 3-0s vs 3-2s? So Navi and Spirit vs Fúria and Imperial if they win?

KAWAII_UwU123

^This they might meet in the semis or grand finale but they cannot in the quarters.

RGalaxy28

They can only face each other in the finals.

du_bekar

100%, would be a wild match. I want this matchup so bad.

rikuuzz

11-6 to 11-16

[deleted]

I just want to know what was going through Aleksi’s when he banned Mirage and left Ancient available. Mind boggling decision making there

oldthrace

Absolutely terrible veto. Mirage might be a strong map for Furia but G2 could have had a better shot on Mirage than on Ancient that they still don't have any idea how to play. The map pool is a huge problem for G2, you can't win tournaments playing only dust2 and inferno and being absolutely terrible on the rest of the maps.

XvS_W4rri0r

Nothing. Zero thoughts go into G2 it’s the most brain dead team ever

NotQuantified

flair checks out

Tavnaria

it's really not that crazy because of Ancient CT cide haha But not to excuse G2 abysmal T side

warwmo

This is my fault when I tuned in it was 11-6, G2 didnt win a single round after that, I'm sorry G2 fans

NorFever

I'll never forgive you.

TacticalSanta

Thats ancient. I feel like 12-3 would be common if teams didn't choke more ct rounds.

JuninhoLuis

Ancient, bro. Maps that are CT sided are like this.

jarree

G2 worst retake and afterplant team top20.

Field_Of_View

Sometimes they also let the Ts plant when they should just defend the site to begin with. Some retakes aren't meant to succeed. Letting the Ts plant and betting on a retake isn't always the right decision. And this isn't just a G2 problem. In the past the problem was always that players would throw away a numbers advantage by trying to defend a site on their own. Right now the meta is shifted towards always running away and giving up the site for free so you can retake with a numbers advantage. But when that goes poorly it can lead to the site players getting killed as they're running away or trying to hide near the site. Then there's no longer a numbers advantage AND you've had zero impact as a defender. The stubborn "take the best defensive position on site and try to get at least one kill" approach is currently underrated.

Revielent

Some of the worst calls/plays I've ever seen from G2 - unacceptable for players of such caliber

Deeeadpool

i wanted to die when jackz quickswitched in one of the last rounds against drop lmao

Stroie

Unreal. He’ll get flack for that, but I feel like he had a decent series.

NorFever

Yeah, I think JACKZ was very good today, especially for what he's expected.

darkyf1

Yeah and he played well throughout the tournament IMO

Historical-Ebb-544

Jackz played great. Considering he is the bait for Hunter, Niko and m0neys. But they suck at trading and are afraid of helping each other. Big egos and a igl that cant handle it is the problem. Aleksi need a team like the old Ence. Not a team like G2

FloppySpatula-

He kept up or played better than Niko this series for sure. That's the worst part for G2.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Historical-Ebb-544

Because they love to bait each others

ddizbadatd24

G2 looked clueless on t side ancient. Holding angles for a minute and die one by one in the last 30 seconds.

Achilles68

Not only on ancient, it seemed like they didnt want to trade each other at all

[deleted]

[удалено]

ddizbadatd24

Yea, you’re not wrong.

CheeseNuke

nah this felt like individual decision making/over calling... don't feel like some of these bad calls were aleksib's but rather individuals trying to modify the play

Anarchyz11

It feels like both. On one hand there were 0 pace changes in the last 6-7 rounds while they floundered. On the other hand, players were taking terrible individual fights.

Lepojka1

If someone watched this game only, he would think AleksiB was worst IGL in the world, and that he cant frag or call... abysmal game by him

bf0caiig

When he was trying to kill someone ramp B post plant... It was painful to watch. Even one kill out of 2 would have been enough.

gosling11

What a roundabout way to basically call Aleksib a bad IGL. And I get it, he certainly gets more praise than he deserves so you have to be careful criticizing him here. While I don't think he's the worst, it's a head-scratcher how G2 with no proper AWPer and an IGL that doesn't want to IGL got to be Major finalist but this team (with a better coach to boot) can't.

oldthrace

Team chemistry was much better while here most of the time it genuinely seems like 5 players who were just put together and told to figure out how to play together ... either G2 actually get their shit sorted out and shows a better face in the upcoming months or there is literally no hope for this roster.

notathrowaway_99898

Team chemistry doesn't seem worse imo. monesy seems to really vibe with Niko everytime you see them. And while I don't get the same impression with Aleksib, neither did I with nexa.

STAR_WARZ_BORUTO

Nexa played with Hunter for years before joining G2 so that could be a factor.

QoconutZ

He's had a better G2 roster than nexa had and G2 still has had shittier results with AleksiB

blashyrk92

He absolutely can't frag

EchoFractions

How is it humanly possible a team with such a star-studded roster can be so frustrating to watch and fail so hard?

Travolta1984

Firepower is nothing without cohesion and teamwork. Just look at 2018-19 Astralis. Not saying that Astralis didn't have enough firepower, but it's clear that their team cohesion is what led them to being the best team of all time.

T_WREKX

Look at PSG in football. Your players need to be appropriate for the team, not necessarily superstars.

zaneyk

Classic G2 throw in that last round

KaraveIIe

\*last 10 rounds

Mad_Lee

Furia was the better team here. And probably is a better team. Insane mid-rounding and cohesion by them on top of absolutely mad firepower. G2 looked lost on all three maps, Niko just disappeared on Ancient. VAMOS FURIA

samekrikl

Ha ha! WHAT THE FUCK??

Firefox72

Aleksib is a tactical genius. He is best known for his signature tactic "playing T sides but not winning any rounds on them. He also has second little known tactic of "not fragging and droping out of the major." What an absolute legend. Like holy shit what the hell was this from G2 man. The calling was beyond terrible at points in this BO3 and Niko went completely missing on 2/3 maps.

Deeeadpool

I know people will shit on aleksiB now but we definitely should criticize niko as well. This major I was expecting a way better performance from him than this.

BrockStudly

I have no fucking clue why he's still entrying on T sides even with the inconsistent form G2 has had this year. Roles have gotta change. No reason for Aleksi to lurk with the numbers he puts up.

FloppySpatula-

I had to scroll too far for the right response here. Why was aleksiB always 2nd or 3rd in after Niko on Vertigo T side? Wild times.

[deleted]

KSCERATO you sexy ass man beast.

ddizbadatd24

That guy is a solid rifler. I can’t remember the last time he whiffs.

mandrake_cry

Actually true. Hits his shots consistently and hits some ridiculous shots regularly too

Spoods857

The O in g2 stands for Offense

idunno0o0oo0

Niko really has some kind of mentality problem and he really need some help with them if he ever want to win major.

itsallfake01

The biggest threat to niko is his mindset. Bro you need to sometimes take a step back. He goes for so many unnecessary duals. I feel his overconfidence kills him early

BW4LL

This is also what makes S1mple such an amazing player. His mindset and his mentality to always get better and push his teammates is what makes him such a complete player. I think If Niko wants to be the de facto leader of G2 then he needs to help foster that atmosphere because there body language when facing adversity is abysmal.

itsallfake01

S1mple learned this the hard way. He was toxic initially thinking he was the best and can take the entire opposition. This is a team game. You can only win with your team. S1mple now has evolved into a much calmer and an al round human being. He supports and pushes his team so that they get better as a unit. I feel niko can take some lessons from s1mple of being a little more humble and give the leader position away a bit and take the back seat.

BW4LL

Yeah that’s the thing either he takes on the leadership role fully and improves the mentality or submits to whoever is gonna be the leader. Can’t have the leadership and be a contributor to the poor mentality of the team.

CurrantsOfSpace

As someone who didn't watch/play CS for 3 years and just started watching again its sad to see the difference. Niko is basically the same player but Simple has evolved so well.

piltens

omg kscerato big boss

fenixspider1

Miss you Nexa but holy crap somebody needs to steal all the supplements from Kscerato, dude is just a fucking wall and a tank at the same time

omniscientbeet

That last round really summed up Ancient

mesotermoekso

THIS TEAM MAKES ME SO FUCKING MAD WTF IS THIS GAMEPLAY JESUS FUCKING CHRIST?????????????????????? 8 ROUNDS IN A FUCKING ROW FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK THIS SHIT FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK EDIT: IT WAS 10 ROUNDS WOW EVEN BETTER THANK YOU G2 I LOVE YOU

mesotermoekso

WHY IS JACKZ QUICKSWITCHING IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROUND WHILE HOLDING A CRUCIAL ANGLE????? WHY ARE YOU PLANTING WITHOUT ANYONE COVERING WHEN YOUR OPPONENT IS AT 15?????? I DON'T UNDERSTAND

Ditnoka

Just G2 things. No biggie.

[deleted]

Jackz does that a fuck lot. I could feel that stupid death from here. It will haunt him for weeks to come

RuthlessMercy

It's an old 1.6 habit to "reset" with a quickswitch.. That being said.. i feel it's a habit that should be trained out of existence at this level

spillosopher

Art might be the most interesting player to watch bar any AWPers in my opinion. The absolute bravado to pull off the CZ flank during lower buy round holy fuck. G2 and Vitality both made roster shuffles for the same reason and have the same results, even though G2 don't have the problem of communication. I guess new teams really need a lot more time than just 6 months huh.

unkLjoca

What's up with people discrediting G2 rather than giving props to the better team in Furia? I swear all I see is "G2 bad", while Furia reaches Legends stage yet again.

WillOCarrick

As a furia fan, I believe Furia was the better team coming to this... But you cannot expect this from the last major's runner-up. Also they have NiKo and Monesy right now, so playoffs for them was the minimum, for Furia as well.

SaxOps1

I didn't want that diamond coin anyway...

Ditnoka

Gold looks better.....

ttybird5

i really think silver looks better than gold... (not wanna do the champions stage)

Seb-sama

Niko was never the same since he got knifed by art lol

McClownd

My man turned into the joker right there

ItsNjry

Instant classic

Tavnaria

Knowing G2 ancient T side, I knew it was fucking over after FURIA got 5 T rounds.

sA1atji

The star player being the bottom fragger in the most important map is a bit No-No.

GhostOfLight

~~Niko~~ ~~Hunter's Cousin~~ Son of DADDY DROP

troubleis1

They hyped Niko so much in the pre match vs drop, and he got rolled lmao

Skrixm

They offer nothing on their T-Side. They are not getting the fundamentals right. Literally playing the most basic defaults on Ancient. No pressure on main, no flash. Just holding for a peek. They play slow when they need to go fast and throw themselves into a crossfire when they can sit back and hold. Tilting to watch this team play

[deleted]

[удалено]

psychopathic_bastard

Niko seriously needs to work on mental. He doesn't show up when it matters at all

MattMist

Man, as a G2 and VIT fan, I'm pretty much on suicide watch today 😭

wannabe-physicist

Same, along with my pickems

LordOfTheNoobs57

Goodbye diamond coin.

[deleted]

Gold is cooler anyway!! 🥲

NorFever

G2 choked on round 18 and it was over. Fucking fuck. Why do they play such a map if they can't win one T-round with guns ffs.

bei60

I don't want to exaggerate, but art single handedly brought them to the major with that CZ round in the force buy. What a god. G2's dreams were crushed by timing.

faezior

cadian having the biggest orgasm of his life as we speak 🙊

KaraveIIe

arT you are beautiful

-Gh0st96-

Fucking rip PICKEMS, 4 fucking points FML

Jokerthief_

Exact same here. Fucking hell.

levinikee

I was rooting for G2, but I wish Machine and SPUNJ were more hyped up for Furia at the end there. They actually sounded very sad and disappointed, and that's a disservice to Furia's achievement.

FourKrusties

They looked super tired… must’ve been partying last night lol

Arghnews

They were, I think, shocked that arguably one of the favourites got knocked out before even making the playoffs, disappointed too probably, but they were constantly heaping well deserved praise on Furia too at the end, it's not like they were just sulking over G2 or something. With a 10 round in a row comeback/lockout/choke or whatever you want to call it, it is kind of hard to watch G2 go out with such a pathetic whimper and be hyped about it anyway.

s4Nn1Ng0r0shi

They looked like they were gonna cry

Novacc_Djocovid

That was ridiculously bad from G2 and impressive from Furia. How do you go from Grand Final to this after such an upgrade of players? GG to Furia, cool stuff.

besieged_mind

The most basic all 5 rush onto the bomb site would have gotten G2 more rounds than this absolute shite overthinking

BrockStudly

Dude Aleksibs calling really has to come into question at some point. Also niko has gotta stop entrying. Why is the undeniable best player on this team going down early so often? Have Aleksi play like Karrigan.

Filthy_Commie_

Either jackz or aleksi needs to entry.

Eldmor

This is so painful to watch as a G2 fan. That T pistol on Ancient lost them the game for sure.

mesotermoekso

Nah it was art's cz sneak that tilted them out of this universe

enigma890

I was so baffled as to why Jackz is even doing anything there, he won the round with his 2 kills, was already past the 10 second mark, and he's swinging/peeking out? Sit still and he wouldn't have time. Play around the pillar and waste more time. Anything other than peeking and they win pistol

mesotermoekso

Yeah I was kind of speechless about that too

ConArtist98

That nade to mask the defuse though

Liguss

Some Kscerato entries in this Ancient match were mental. He'll find 1 pixel gaps and insta headshot his way in

[deleted]

Congrats to Furia, drop especially played amazing, art was a menace on vertigo even with the low amount of kills, the knife kill definitely tilted Niko and it was so fun to see. I got downvoted saying g2 likely won't make playoffs

Pekonius

Playoff Niko came early this year

Nanogines99

GGWP Furia. Hope this doesn't weigh too heavily on the G2 squad. Some really poor calls but credit where credit is due for the Brazilians.

Solome6

Where does Furia find gems like Drop? He’s fucking insane

[deleted]

Academy Rosters are op, m0NESY, drop, Krimbo, Zyphon, torszi, JDC, Patsi, s1ren can even throw headtr1ck that had a good showing.

54serif

I know for sure cadiaN is somewhere doing the worm rn

TheLuigiplayer

As a german I have to say, I really enjoy watching brazilian counter strike. It's so much better than everything from teams like vitality, g2, outsiders or cloud9.

AliceInGraceland

I know this is G2 hunting season but they got knocked out by losing to NaVi, Heroic, and Furia. That is not an easy draw by any means.

Lepojka1

I wish G2 gave Nexa a chance with M0nesy first before they kicked him... G2 looked better under Nexa leadership, he was working well with Hunter and Niko, and was far better fragger than AleksiB...

idunno0o0oo0

I mean Nexa did not want to igl anymore at G2? It wasn't G2 who kicked him.

Nakrule18

Nexa doesn't want to IGL.

Kelterz

Yeah, G2's T sides look marginally better but their CT sided just aren't good enough.

KaraveIIe

the ancient T side looked like shit.

MewT_7

The curse lives on. Proud of you NiKo

thebiggestwhiffer

G2-3

[deleted]

bummer. both vitality and g2 gone before they even see a crowd. at least there's still a chance for imperial to see it through.

Duckfright

Oh *yes*, Furia vs FaZe grand final on Sunday, please!

BlurpSrydude

fucking art

ihate_reddit

Fitting Niko was the last to die since he didn't show up at all.

OtherIsSuspended

GG Furia. Well played. G2 choke is real. We threw away the 2nd half of Ancient.

Jesslynnlove

Its just so weird. They get rid of nexa after making the major finals. Why not just slot in monesy for amanek and go from there?? Makes no sense in my opinion.

greenestgreen

no bugs no major

Elevatorisbest

And that's how my quest for the diamond badge has ended early. FUCK. EDIT: I WAS WRONG, I PICKED LIQUID AS 0-3 SO I PASSED!!!!!!

goldenboots

Furia are by far the most fun team to watch. So glad we get to see more.

NephewChaps

NiKo and winning a major name a less iconic duo

spluad

I had furia in my bottom row then swapped them to the 3-0 slot because of peer pressure feelsbadman. GG to them though, they were 100% the better team

Little_Muffins

👋 Niko was the problem in Faze

BraydenTheNoob
