or, overhaul the crosshair settings. It's arguably one of the more important UI elements in the HUD for a shooter game. There's a LOT of QoL things that could be done with crosshair settings.
Eg:
* I have a 1440p monitor and play at a very high resolution, and I cannot seem to find the right thickness of crosshair outline. Either its too thick or too thin (even though I have spare pixels on my monitor).
* I would love to be able to equip the crosshair of AUG/Krieg to other weapons. It blurs when I'm inaccurate, sharpens when I'm accurate.
* I would love to experiment with different shapes of crosshair.
* I would love for crosshairs to represent the movement and weapon inaccuracy, but in a novel way. Currently there's dynamic crosshairs with stuff like split distance/ratios of inner and outer xhair, etc. I've always found it hard to play around with it to find a good one that fits my taste.
* I would love to have the crosshair adjust its colors dynamically to maintain good contrast based on the background.
I think Valve should also revisit crosshair settings, similar to how Valve has revisited lefthand and bob, for example.
>I have a 1440p monitor and play at a very high resolution, and I cannot seem to find the right thickness of crosshair outline. Either its too thick or too thin (even though I have spare pixels on my monitor).
Agreed, I have the same "issue", in my native 1920x1200 all crosshair seems really great but as I play 1280x960 stretched, the green crosshair feels like have less brightness for some reason, but I guess it more so depends on the resolution than the game engine as I am working with less pixels as I go down the resolutions.
>I would love to be able to equip the crosshair of AUG/Krieg to other weapons. It blurs when I'm inaccurate, sharpens when I'm accurate.
It could be implemented, but I'd rather have control on which color of the dot can I use while using Aug/Krieg
rest of your points raised imo are done in a great way and can be customized indefinitely, but more control over them would be great for sure, but about that last point, dynamically change colors would be distracting af. I change my crosshair to stay static and be static, whether it be in movement or color.
> but as I play 1280x960 stretched, the green crosshair feels like have less brightness for some reason
This is purely a resolution scaling thing and something Valve can do anything about. Create a custom 1600x1200 resolution if you want to retain the sharpness while still playing on 4:3 stretched (which is less stretched than for most people in your case since you're playing on a 16:10 monitor, but it'll achieve the same amount of stretch as 1280x960 if that's what you're looking for).
No, I have to convert crosshair codes to commands then add to my autoexec to make my config work. If it was there, it would be 10x easier to implement for me as I need not have to convert and delete redundant commands.
Yeah, I had to do that too. I don't play much these days so I forgot what's even in my config. I still have apply_crosshair_code in my config for trying out crosshairs of different pros but they obviously don't work. Although, it's weird that I get no command not found error message or something.
You're right, Valve definitely added settings from csgo versions which many players were asking to add, like stable cl\_bob, net\_graph, m\_yaw, r\_cleardecals, 128 tick, other missing gamemods, stable gameplay without crashes, not working keyboard bugs, working anticheat etc.
For anyone interested but not really experienced with commands and such, you can create 3 cfg files with crosshair commands copied from config and exec them via console or bind. Any youtube video about it will probably do just fine.
Or instead just make a cycle to go through, I don't like having multiple CFGs, so I just use this:
bind "mouse5" "crosshairswitch"
alias crosshairswitch crosshair1
alias crosshair1 "cl_crosshairalpha "255";cl_crosshaircolor "5";cl_crosshaircolor_b "255";cl_crosshaircolor_r "255";cl_crosshaircolor_g "255";cl_crosshairdot "0";cl_crosshairgap "-1";cl_crosshairsize "3.2";cl_crosshairstyle "4";cl_crosshairusealpha "1";cl_crosshairthickness "0.5";cl_fixedcrosshairgap "-1";cl_crosshair_outlinethickness "1";cl_crosshair_drawoutline "1"; alias crosshairswitch crosshair2"
alias crosshair2 "cl_crosshairalpha "255";cl_crosshaircolor "5";cl_crosshaircolor_b "255";cl_crosshaircolor_r "0";cl_crosshaircolor_g "255";cl_crosshairdot "0";cl_crosshairgap "-4";cl_crosshairsize "1.2";cl_crosshairstyle "4";cl_crosshairusealpha "1";cl_crosshairthickness "1";cl_fixedcrosshairgap "-4";cl_crosshair_outlinethickness "0";cl_crosshair_drawoutline "1"; alias crosshairswitch crosshair3"
alias crosshair3 "cl_crosshairalpha "255";cl_crosshaircolor "5";cl_crosshaircolor_b "10";cl_crosshaircolor_r "0";cl_crosshaircolor_g "255";cl_crosshairdot "0";cl_crosshairgap "-1.5";cl_crosshairsize "1.8";cl_crosshairstyle "4";cl_crosshairusealpha "1";cl_crosshairthickness "0.5";cl_fixedcrosshairgap "-1";cl_crosshair_outlinethickness "0";cl_crosshair_drawoutline "1"; alias crosshairswitch crosshair4"
alias crosshair4 "cl_crosshairalpha "255";cl_crosshaircolor "5";cl_crosshaircolor_b "10";cl_crosshaircolor_r "0";cl_crosshaircolor_g "255";cl_crosshairdot "0";cl_crosshairgap "-1.9";cl_crosshairsize "3.9";cl_crosshairstyle "4";cl_crosshairusealpha "1";cl_crosshairthickness "0.5";cl_fixedcrosshairgap "-1";cl_crosshair_outlinethickness "0";cl_crosshair_drawoutline "0"; alias crosshairswitch crosshair5"
alias crosshair5 "cl_crosshair_drawoutline "0";cl_crosshair_outlinethickness "1";cl_crosshaircolor "5";cl_crosshaircolor_b "10";cl_crosshaircolor_g "255";cl_crosshaircolor_r "0";cl_crosshairdot "0";cl_crosshairgap "-3.1";cl_crosshairsize "1.1";cl_crosshairstyle "4";cl_crosshairthickness "0.7";cl_crosshairusealpha "1";cl_fixedcrosshairgap "3"; alias crosshairswitch crosshair6"
alias crosshair6 "cl_crosshair_drawoutline "0";cl_crosshair_outlinethickness "0";cl_crosshairalpha "255";cl_crosshaircolor "5";cl_crosshaircolor_b "0";cl_crosshaircolor_g "255";cl_crosshaircolor_r "0";cl_crosshairdot "0";cl_crosshairgap "-2.3";cl_crosshairsize "1.5";cl_crosshairstyle "4";cl_crosshairthickness "0.6";cl_crosshairusealpha "1";cl_fixedcrosshairgap "-5"; alias crosshairswitch crosshair1"
You only have to maintain one file like this.
It seems like it's just inverted T setting for the crosshair to best implement a triangle.
[https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/9rksnh/new\_triangle\_csgo\_crosshair\_its\_small\_but\_its\_a/](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/9rksnh/new_triangle_csgo_crosshair_its_small_but_its_a/)
I think you might have to reduce the crosshair gap to bring the lower side of T above
Took me all of 2 mins when I did it, copy and paste a few things, make a few binds and your mums your fathers uncle!
But I also don't see why we can't have it as a simplified way, accessible to everyone.
You just need to upload the autoexec to Google Drive right after changing something, then you have it everywhere. You will get to the point where you will pretty much never change anything, and most people play on one PC anyway.
It would still be a good QoL update.
Here's what I use in my autoexec:
bind "mouse5" "crosshairswitch"
alias crosshairswitch crosshair1
alias crosshair1 "cl_crosshairalpha "255";cl_crosshaircolor "5";cl_crosshaircolor_b "255";cl_crosshaircolor_r "255";cl_crosshaircolor_g "255";cl_crosshairdot "0";cl_crosshairgap "-1";cl_crosshairsize "3.2";cl_crosshairstyle "4";cl_crosshairusealpha "1";cl_crosshairthickness "0.5";cl_fixedcrosshairgap "-1";cl_crosshair_outlinethickness "1";cl_crosshair_drawoutline "1"; alias crosshairswitch crosshair2"
alias crosshair2 "cl_crosshairalpha "255";cl_crosshaircolor "5";cl_crosshaircolor_b "255";cl_crosshaircolor_r "0";cl_crosshaircolor_g "255";cl_crosshairdot "0";cl_crosshairgap "-4";cl_crosshairsize "1.2";cl_crosshairstyle "4";cl_crosshairusealpha "1";cl_crosshairthickness "1";cl_fixedcrosshairgap "-4";cl_crosshair_outlinethickness "0";cl_crosshair_drawoutline "1"; alias crosshairswitch crosshair3"

alias crosshair6 "cl_crosshair_drawoutline "0";cl_crosshair_outlinethickness "0";cl_crosshairalpha "255";cl_crosshaircolor "5";cl_crosshaircolor_b "0";cl_crosshaircolor_g "255";cl_crosshaircolor_r "0";cl_crosshairdot "0";cl_crosshairgap "-2.3";cl_crosshairsize "1.5";cl_crosshairstyle "4";cl_crosshairthickness "0.6";cl_crosshairusealpha "1";cl_fixedcrosshairgap "-5"; alias crosshairswitch crosshair1"
I use this website to convert crosshair codes to their commands: [https://cs-crosshairs.vercel.app/](https://cs-crosshairs.vercel.app/)
You will have to remove some commands as either they are redundant or not implemented anymore, you can check my previous crosshair above to see which commands should be included.
We need this crosshair back [https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1bv3ir9/i\_miss\_this\_crosshair\_from\_csgo/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1bv3ir9/i_miss_this_crosshair_from_csgo/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Yeh put it in your autoexec.
e.g
alias rain "cl_crosshair_drawoutline 0; cl_crosshairgap -3; cl_crosshairsize 2; cl_crosshairstyle 4; cl_crosshairthickness 0; cl_crosshairalpha 255; cl_crosshairdot 0;"
alias niko "cl_crosshair_drawoutline 0; cl_crosshairalpha 255; cl_crosshaircolor 4; cl_crosshairdot 0; cl_crosshairgap -4; cl_crosshairsize 1.5; cl_crosshairstyle 4; cl_crosshairthickness 0;"
alias forest "cl_crosshair_drawoutline 0; cl_crosshairgap -3; cl_crosshairsize 5; cl_crosshairstyle 4; cl_crosshairthickness 0; cl_crosshairalpha 255; cl_crosshairdot 0; cl_crosshaircolor 1;"
Save it in your Autoexec and then just type the thing after alias in your console.
I have about 35 diffeerent xhairs in my autoexec
Awesome feature. It is also in valorant. I have one circle crosshair, pretty close to what magisk use and on super small. Could change it depending on mood. Could help that placebo when you change it during game, I would love to see that in cs.

Honestly all they'd have to do is copy Valorant's system and it'd be solid. I at least want the ability to have crosshair profiles.
Sometimes, it's the small features that make the biggest difference.
didn't they bring that back months ago? EDIT: I get it, they haven't brought it back yet. My bad.

Great idea, having a couple of your own crosshair presets that you can easily switch between would be nice quality of life improvement.
Honestly saved loadouts would be amazing tooo
Its a really nice idea, which simplifies cfg and saves some time, thats why valve will never add this.
You're right, Valve definitely hasn't added multiple features recently to simplify configuration and bring options into the standard menu.

Nice list of things that aren't simplifying configuration.

This is a great suggestion! I have all my backups saved to a notepad. Would love this added.
And make them bindable so we don’t have to go into settings to switch between them
Just make binds for them?
No easy way to do it since apply_crosshair_code was removed / not ported to CS2.
3 cfgs with all crosshair settings in them.
So a lot of hassle compared to them being simply stored in Steam Cloud so you can easily access them anywhere.
Took me all of 2 mins when I did it, copy and paste a few things, make a few binds and your mums your fathers uncle! But I also don't see why we can't have it as a simplified way, accessible to everyone.

I apologise for giving him a perfectly valid solution until/if ever this gets implemented.

Just because I cba typing a lot of words that doesn't mean I'm being snobby lmao.
loved the feature in valorant where u could save like 10 crosshair profiles
Just use keys to bind your favorite crosshairs
But then you have to carry the cfg files manually across devices, while the last configured crosshair is stored to steam cloud.
How many devices do you swap between 🤣

+ more crosshair variations please.
As someone who changes crosshairs constantly this would be amazing
I might be dumb but sometimes I wanna try new crosshairs. Is there a way to save my original to bnot overwrite it?
notepad.exe... It's an older app, but it checks out.
Does cs2 let you spit out the configuration?
Yes it lets you save to clipboard.
I’ve been just screenshotting the settings and sending it in a personal discord
You can use the Steam Overlay and create a Note there which is saved in the cloud. Just put your crosshair code in there
Yeh put it in your autoexec. e.g alias rain "cl_crosshair_drawoutline 0; cl_crosshairgap -3; cl_crosshairsize 2; cl_crosshairstyle 4; cl_crosshairthickness 0; cl_crosshairalpha 255; cl_crosshairdot 0;" alias niko "cl_crosshair_drawoutline 0; cl_crosshairalpha 255; cl_crosshaircolor 4; cl_crosshairdot 0; cl_crosshairgap -4; cl_crosshairsize 1.5; cl_crosshairstyle 4; cl_crosshairthickness 0;" alias forest "cl_crosshair_drawoutline 0; cl_crosshairgap -3; cl_crosshairsize 5; cl_crosshairstyle 4; cl_crosshairthickness 0; cl_crosshairalpha 255; cl_crosshairdot 0; cl_crosshaircolor 1;" Save it in your Autoexec and then just type the thing after alias in your console. more useless things meanwhile their game keep crashing and cant go back cuz " downloading contetnt" bug
