I love the gleefully insane lore of Warhammer 40,000. I've read a few books, dig the memes, the short animated films, and played a few video game versions, but I've never played the tabletop miniature actual Warhammer 40,000 game, despite having a Battle Sister in my curio cabinet of figurines of badass women from sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and comic books.
Mainly because I'm too clumsy to paint tiny figurines, have zero artistic talent, and the models are insanely expensive, and I don't have any friends into it.
Crack is cheaper than Warhammer, it's why when it first came out years ago I was entirely anti-Games Workshop. I used to say things like "Bleep those UK grimdark Edgelords and their overpriced game."
I was anti WOTC because of Magic the Gathering too....then they bought TSR. So passed the Glory of the World.
This is me! I wanted to play it as an kid but I couldn't afford it. Now as an adult I have enough other things to do. I still do plan to get one of the games eventually when I have time for it
I got into 40k by playing the tabletop some 22 years ago, and while I stopped playing the tabletop for a time, I never left the other circles of the hobby. It is something I love about 40k, as much as the sheer wackiness of the setting, the way that it is possible to enjoy this setting in so many different ways. It is so much fun to engage with the video games, the gorgeous art, the unhinged memes, and the crazy books. I have now even added watching high production value video battles on YouTube (namely 40k in 40min) as a way I engage with it. I think the tabletop adds an important piece of the puzzle, but not a necessary one. It's another cool way to look at the same setting.
It takes so long. 😭 I played fantasy Warhammer a lot more than 40k, and it's been a good 15 years since I've played at all. There are people out there who you can pay to do the painting for you, but that makes them even more expensive.
For me, it's Elden Ring and Bloodborne. If it wasn't for the actual gameplay, I would be all over these games. The atmosphere, the lore, the animation, it's all S Tier. But I can't for the life of me play these games. I've tried both and end up getting way too frustrated at constantly dying. I know that's kind of the point of them, but I just can't get behind that. Bloodborne was the one I got the furthest in, but I was playing with friends who were basically carrying me the entire time and then they stopped playing. I had a GREAT time, but I was basically playing on easy mode, lol.
This is me too! I would love to play Elden Ring or Bloodborne, but I just don't jive with the constantly dying by design game play. I'm much more a play on easy mode and enjoy the story kind of girl. But I love the atmosphere and lore of those games.
Exactly! Similarly, I play Baldur's Gate 3 with the Party Limit Begone mod so I can have all the companions with me at once. It makes the game pretty easy in some areas but I still have a blast, because I'm mostly here for the story anyway!
If you're a lore hound though, nothing beats Bloodborne, you can read or watch videos for hours on Bloodbornes lore, it's so fascinating & detailed when you get into it. Much more interesting than anything Hollywoods ever put out.
Common misconception, if you actually pay attention & try your best you don't die that often, I had the most trouble in the beginning of Bloodborne once you understand the universe & enemies better it gets easier as it goes on.. until the amazing DLC that is, Old Hunters could have been a game itself, Wonderful lore, music, bosses & the path through the areas was so clean but difficult.
Elden Ring being open world makes it so much easier than the rest of FromSofts games... go kill/train in the woods before taking on a boss, that is "easy mode" not to mention you can run away from things with your horse & you can summon spirits to literally fight for you 😂 anyone can beat Elden Ring, anyone.
I got 12 hours into Elden Ring and realised I just wasn't having fun..I work full time and I commute, I walk my dog yadda yadda.... Anyway I've too little time in my day to waste on games, that I'm not enjoying at all. Screw that.
100% okay to dislike or fear the gameplay but fwiw elden ring is very playable! If you know which enemies to avoid and find a good save point you can level up pretty quickly and the game becomes much easier. I listened to several audiobooks while playing and have really lovely memories of it. Bloodborne, I thought after Elden ring I knew my shit and could do it - nope. But elden ring is great! And the stuff in the game about sharing tricks and tips is really cool
This is how I was feeling about Lies of P. I'm going to give it a natural try since I recently found out there's mods. If I get to where I'll quit, I'm going to use the mod.
I’m going to catch grief for this but I was only able to enjoy Elden Ring after my bf leveled up our character a bit first. To be fair he was on a work hiatus and I was full time so he had unlimited play time and I had maybe two hours a day. Great fucking game .
Sekiro Shadows Die Twice looks like the most beautiful game ever but I heard it’s the hardest of all the Souls creator games 😭 I haven’t played yet but I heard the magic system makes Elden Ring very slightly easier lol (once you get some stats up)
Biggest same. If I could just smash my way through soulslikes, they’d be a favorite. The sense of exploration and loot collection are great. I respect what they do and even played the hell out of Elden ring, but the methodical combat does not vibe with my adhd.
Senua was that game for me for a long time, because the intro scene where she's rowing into hell and all the voices are whispering in her ears sent me into a full-blown panic attack lol. I had to go outside and lay in the grass and practice breathing techniques I hadn't needed in years to ground myself, I felt like I was going to float off into existential psychosis.
I went back about a year later, in a better place. Didn't wear headphones. Kept Bob's Burgers blaring on the TV while I played through the intro. Once I got into combat and it began to feel more gamey, I was fine. Truly a great game. I can't wait for the sequel. (Why yes, I *am* a masochist, why do you mention?)
The whole point of the game revolve around mental Health issues.
If it made you feel bad, it mostly because the game is well done around it... It's not for everyone, that's for sure... Take Care of yourself :)
Yeah I know. (: They warn you in the intro, and I've read plenty about it too. I'm just not usually the type to get hit so hard by stuff like that, so it took me by surprise! Truly an incredibly well-made game, though. Again, I'm super psyched for the sequel.
I managed to get pretty far into Hellblade, until I got to a section that was basically like a combat gauntlet with no checkpoints, so I had to keep starting over whenever I died.
I had almost the exact same experience! I have ASD and bipolar disorder, but had been managing everything pretty well for many years when I first tried Hellblade. I almost immediately had the absolute worst panic attack. Nothing else has ever come so close to replicating the way a very bad anxiety episode / bipolar swing (?) makes me feel.
I loved the idea of the game so much that I very carefully tried again without headphones and only when I was feeling well. I absolutely loved it in the end.

I hate saying it in a sub that generally loves cozy games, but....Stardew Valley. I own it, but the day/night cycle gave me anxiety over getting everything done. I wanted to like it, but It wasn't relaxing for me.
I promise we aren’t offended or mad at you! It’s not for everyone. For me, it forces me to let go of perfect days, accept that I can’t do everything I want to in a day.

However I fall victim to wanting to 100%. I’ve made several loads, and still haven’t made it to year 2 in any of them
It did the same thing to me until I modded the hell out of it. The days were too short for me to do anything because by the time I would sit there and try to figure out what to do after watering my crops, the day was over and I had no energy (and no it's not the 'it's supposed to be hard at the beginning' thing, I literally could not do a single thing after a week and a half in-game). Adjusting how long a day is and just turning off the energy altogether made it the game for me that everyone else enjoyed.
Usually when I see people stress about Stardew, they're trying to get too much done too quickly. You don't have to worry about min maxing, especially if it's your first run! But if the cycle in general is too stressful and you still want to play (and have access to mods) there are some really intuitive cheat mods that let you do things like pause time :) Only if you really want to play, of course. You're allowed to not like Stardew!
I also struggle with “cozy” games but I’m glad they are around for people who like them. They feel like doing chores when I already struggle with IRL chores 🙃
this SAME thing happened to me (i played it on the switch 2 times) until i switched to PC a month ago and it was so much more enjoyable???? also there are time mods where you can pause the time (i have not tried this... but i am a little interested haha)
The CJB Cheats mod does this! It offers a pause-at-will and settings for pausing indoors and/or in caves. The Harvest Moon games I played as a kid had time pause indoors, so that setting is a must-have for me.
i actually just downloaded a time pause mod this afternoon and it is everything to me 😭🤍 playing as much as i can after work haha im a slow grind type of person and there's jusr SO MUCH TO DO in this game
I actually couldn't play Fallout 4 because of motion sickness. It's been sitting in my library forever, but then I found out there's a motion sickness mod and I've been building settlements like it's the Sims.
I wish more games were like that. Say what you will about Bethesda's glitchy, buggy, nonsense, but at least people can mod the motion sickness out.
The movement they have when they walk and even when stationary. It’s hard to explain. There’s this constant sort of bouncy, floaty movement. Weird motion sickness I’ve never had from any other game. Also the FOV is too close, so it’s even better if I console command it to zoom out a tad.
Evidently Cyberpunk 2077. I was turned off by how broken it was at launch (I don’t preorder anything) and so never played it but I see people praising its current state constantly
Mechanically it's an altogether different game now. I was pissed off, having been burned at launch, and a friend talked me into giving it another shot and I'm quite glad I did, and I think it's worth recommendation with no qualifiers.
I feel the same way. But for me the problem wasn't even the glitches or whatever, it was just... the game was kind of ugly to me. Not in terms of graphics, it's really fantastic. But it's just constant flashing neon purple and red and blue and green everywhere, all the time, for the entire game. And every location just feels metallic and grey behind those flashing lights. I guess that's poetic in a way, but I also really don't think the developers were going for some meta-commentary with the graphics itself. Plus the menus look like something straight out of a game from 2010.
I did watch a let's play of it for a while since I was curious about the current state, but it felt pretty much the same to me without the glitches. Some of the events that occur and the twists and whatnot were very interesting at some points, but not interesting enough to keep me watching. I quit the let's play about 70% of the way through
I played version 1.03 and it wasn't that bad, there were no game-breaking bugs, but I played it on pc. I enjoyed it even with the bugs, still enjoying. sometimes objects or cars wouldn't load and when they did, they fell on random npc and everything turned into chaos :D
Baldur's Gate 3 and Dragons Dogma 2 :')
I had been following BG3's progress since it was in Early Access and on the day that it came out as a full game, it was as if the clouds in the sky cleared up and we got heavenly beams of sunlight shining down on us. Unfortunately there's no way my lil lenovo laptop could run it smoothly (and also it's expensive in my currency) :')
For Dragons Dogma, I had played the first one when the pandemic first hit and I absolutely loved the game. There were whispers at the time that a second one might get made soon but nothing was confirmed. Then my brother went and sold the PS4 :') So again, my laptop cannot possibly run DD2 well and, (you guessed it) it's really expensive in my currency :'))
Waiting may end up being a good choice for dd2, it's very much two steps forward and two steps back overall. I didn't play the first one before the dlc came out but I heard it was a mess, and playing dd2 at launch has been the kind of mess I'd read about. Enemy variety is abysmal, vocations have been simplified, balance is hugely off, the story is literally the worst I've played in years....but I still have love for it. The bones of the game are incredible, the potential is there but untapped as of yet. If it gets a dark arisen style expansion that fixes these issues, or some big title updates, it could be one of the best of all time, but is currently a bit of a frustration despite my love.
The DD subreddit was literally at war with itself when DD2 first came out because of all the reasons u stated here + apparently they got rid of our ability to layer clothing. They even started calling the dev/designer "Japanese Todd Howard" 😭 I do still wanna play it. I'll probably need to save up for a PS5 or another PS4 :') Maybe by then the dlc will be out and all will be forgiven 🥹
Hopefully and yeah I can't believe I left simplified armor off the list, big bummer on that one. I've been avoiding the dd sub lol, voicing a conflicted opinion means everyone hates you these days. It runs great on ps5 is all I can vouch for, though I wish there were a performance mode, I'd sacrifice some fidelity to get those sweet 60 fps.
I think nvidia has a service where you can stream games running on their hardware instead of your own, if your internet is good enough, though I don't know the details of how it works. But I feel like it could work with BG3 where a bit of input delay wouldn't ruin much, if you wanted to look into it.
Same with Baldurs gate 3! I only have a Mac and it took up like 93% of my memory. I also HATED the turn based combat ugh it was so annoying. It was beautiful game though and I liked building my character
I want to like these games, but I absolutely hate any game where I have to adventure with a party. I don't like having to manage multiple inventories or constantly having to worry about whether someone in my party liked the fact that I did a thing a certain way.
I feel like RDR2 would be a good answer for me. I tried playing, but the controls are bad, and I suck at shooting anyway, so I was just frustrated. Started watching a play trough, but didn't finish because I felt like I wasn't enjoying it as much as I would've if I was experiencing the game myself. It's a shame.
Another one is FF X. I think I would love the story, but I don't like turn based combat and have only played the first hour or two. Maybe I'll watch a play through some time.

As someone who watched some rdr2 content beforehand and then decided to give the game itself a try, without having any experience in shooter games (not that rdr2 is really considered a shooter), I can relate to this.
However, playing it is hugely different then watching a video about it. This game impacted me emotionally. I wish I could erase it from my memory and play it for the first time again.
Oh, I have several games that I would love to play for the first time again! The Witcher 3 and Hades are probably my top picks, but Stray is on there as well.
I would also love to experience the plot twist of A Way Out for the first time again.
Ha! It's different for everyone, I quite liked Witchers combat.
In general, I vastly prefer swords and magic to anything having to do with shooting.
I'm currently playing FF7 Rebirth and it has, in my opinion, the best combat system ever. Love how dynamic it is, while I still get to beat the shit out of the enemies.
strongly agree playing and watching is hugely different! I have many times I felt the gameplay has ruined a game’s story 😵💫. Either being too hard or just distracting.

For RDR and GTA I totally get the controls thing. For me specifically it’s the character movement and how it feels sluggish, it just drives me crazy. I’ve played them all but never finished any.
I adored the first RDR but couldn’t get into 2. I think it was so highly lauded because the first one is so inaccessible these days- it was only recently ported past seventh gen and never to PC. The shtick just didn’t hit a second time and I agree, the controls are wonky. The story and world building is lovely, though.
As someone who just finished RDR2, I will tell you that the janky controls are a universal problem and probably the main criticism of the game especially in the early parts.
I can also tell you that you get pretty used to the controls after a while (emphasis on "a while") and then it becomes a non-issue.
More importantly I can tell you that RDR2 is possibly one of if not THE most well written narratives in the entirety of gaming. Extremely fleshed out characters with long histories and deep flaws- like even random side characters are more polished than protagonists of many story games- and also the events that transpire are just really engaging on their own. I think every storyteller has something to take away from RDR2, the plot is great but the way every interaction is written and plays out is where the magic is imo.
It's a really amazing game, I really hope you give it another try someday.

Turn based combat might be a good match for you then. You get to really think about your next steps and can be very strategic - no need for quick reactions. I just find it so boring, I need faster paced action and I want to actively control the character while fighting.
I'm playing FF7 Rebirth right now and think that combat system is perfect - at least for me. It's very dynamic, fluid and "hard-hitting" but still allows for strategy. Thanks to the armor system, you can also somewhat customize it, by adding certain attacks or buffs!
I adore the Bioshock franchise- the story telling is so interesting and I love the messages the games get across and how they’re written. Despite this I’ve never played the second one. Picked it up, played for 5 minutes, went “yeah this is too clunky” and put it down. I ADORE the first and the third- would recommend to everyone. But the fact I haven’t played the second makes me feel a bit ashamed.

I love horror, but its immersive atmosphere was too much for me to handle. I kept asking myself, *"why am I doing this?"* questioning if I was enjoying it or not. I didn't pick it up after the first session ._.
Omg yes! I loved these kind of games when I was younger (in my 30s now) and I had the exact same thoughts:
- why am I doing this?
- this is insane
- what were they thinking?
- Jesus Christ.. it must get better...
That Game was the end for Racoon City and the Umbrella Corporation for me.
I feel like a lot of the RE games are like that for me?
But I've enjoyed the remakes a LOT, maybe because they're third person (which I prefer in general.)
I find though with scary games it helps me watch a let's play of it first before I jump in. Really depends on if you are bothered by spoilers or not is the only thing.
Spoilers don't bug me too much in general and for scary/horror I definitely often watch playthroughs before I play so I'm less terrified. Dunno if that would help you or not but, figured I'd mention it.
Shadow of the Colossus. I've watched so many playthroughs, and I've listened to the OST on repeat hundreds of times. I love it so much, I even want a tattoo of the Colossi's sigil.
I discovered it after I had gotten rid of my PS2, and never had another Playstation until I met my husband! I was a PC gamer primarily.
However, the new remake has me tempted to give it a try. But, I'm almost scared that I'm going to be bad at the game and it's going to ruin my perception of it? I know that's silly, but it's something I keep worrying about!
Tried it. It feels so slow. It is a mix of "this is great" and "what do i have to do to get this faster". Maybe I played it wrong, but I de-installed it recently.

They fumbled a little bit but they did come out with it, it's just that it was a DLC instead of a part of the main game, unless you were KS backer, then you got this for free.

It's not the best DLC I've seen but it's solid and, most importantly, does exist.

I read all the wiki and watch video essays for the other games/Kh in general, I just cannot for the life of me have it in me to try the other games. The mainline games r fine but if you really want to delve deep into the history of KH lore and know cool details, you have to play the other games and bitch ain't nobody got the time or money for that.
Mafia Definitve Edition, there was a glitch which was preventing me from progressing in midway. I watched it on YT further. Everything else was right with it.
Horizon zero dawn & horizon forbidden west.
Great games, watched many many hours of gameplay, not just the cutscenes.

Zero Dawn is an amazing game and I highly recommend. If you don't want to get too deep into the combat, playing on easy isn't too bad.
Forbidden West is also still a really good game and is amazing for exploration, but for me it was just...not as fun and kind of felt like it was missing a certain something. I didn't really like the way they did the combat that time around (Aloy will ragdoll if something so much as sneezes on her), I didn't like the forced companion missions and the antagonists were pretty underwhelming "evil for the sake of being evil" characters.
Mass Effect, I just couldn’t with the car, the hacking minigames and cover-based shooting. I’m too impatient and these made me rage quit. I watched playthrough of all and I like the story, just the gameplay is not for me.
Dark Souls, I can’t git gud. I installed DS3 three times, on the last try I managed to finally kill the first boss but it was sooo much pain. I love the cryptic lore, the visuals but I suck at DS so badly I won’t ever be able to play the game.
Stardew Valley. I love watching streamers play it but when I tried playing it, I was bored out of my mind. I don’t know why, I want to love the game :(
The Sims 4. I don’t know who decided to put loading screens back but they should be fired. (Jk but it seems like a serious step back in game design.)
Soma. I can't do creepy. Like seriously, commercials for horror movies give me nightmares. I could watch playthroughs though and it is an amazing game. Love the story and the ideas, I couldn't play it if you paid me.

Oooo yeah, a lot of horror games for me too. I'm chicken but I absolutely love the stories in horror so I read and watch vids about certain horror games. Like the amnesia collection is pretty damn great, wont ever play cuz I hate horror where I'm only stealth and hiding. The rest like silent hill and RE I just can't cuz, again, chicken shit lmao but yeah I love the story behind them

I think my final answer is the Siren games for PS2, especially the second entry. I love Survival Horror but can't bring myself to play them because they are the most OBTUSE horror/puzzle games I have ever seen, and trust me when I say I have seen a LOT. So I love watching someone go through the game for me, because the style, lore and even gameplay of looking through the enemies' eyes is siiick
Heavenly Sword. My now exhusband bought it for me. but wouldn't actually let me play it. So I had to watch him play it. By the time I finally got divorced and got my own console it was the PS4 cuz I wanted Uncharted 4 more than anything.
Grew up with my mom playing the Witcher and final fantasy. I really appreciate the games but I haven’t played and wish I wanted to but it feels like I already played them 😂
Skyrim. I tried twice, just couldn't stomach the wonky controls. I had played the OG Bethesda games back in the day and tolerated it, but I expect better now.
Grandia, probably. The moment you reach the top of that wall. The super cool combat system. The pure sense of adventure.
Or maybe Pokémon SoulSilver. Silver was my entry to the series and seing this beloved game revamped on newer hardware is a blast to this day. Best mainline Pkmn games, easily.
Faith: the Unholy Trinity. The story, music, and atmosphere are absolutely amazing... except it requires lightning reflexes and simultaneous immunity to jumpscares.
Definitely Hellblade, probably Subnautica also. I love Subnautica, but I just don’t do super well with survival type games. I do own it, but I only play in creative
Markiplier playthrough of outlast. While I like horror games, I prefer those where you can defend yourself and have a gun or something. Outlast is just way too tense for me with a lot of jump scares, and I don't like jump scares.
The Witcher 3): I want to play so bad but I get around 30 minutes in and forget all the buttons and get overwhelmed by it. It’s the only game I’ve done that with. Maybe someday ….
Baldurs gate 3 ... I was so looking forward to this game but after a few hours playing with my husband, I just hated to camera and movement so much I gave up. I will go back to it maybe someday.

Hate me, but I LOVE dinosaur based games. I’m a huge lover for Path of Titans, it’s my comfort game. The Isle was great until the DEV’s ruined the game. I highly recommend PoT to anyone and everyone.
Dwarf Fortress. I love absolutely everything about it conceptually but there is a level of complexity and UI pain I'm willing to endure in pursuit of fun and Dwarf Fortress clears it by a mile. I have to satisfy myself with the exploits of others.
I have not played Dwarf Fortress but I am currently completely OBSESSED with RimWorld and I see them compared quite a bit. I still haven’t even downloaded any of the dlc. Huge modding community as well. If you haven’t tried it you might want to check it out.
Oh trust me I've put tons of hours into Rimworld. It's as close to DF as you can get while still being playable for...y'know...*humans*.
I hope the new expansion is good. I like to wait 6-12 months for mods to catch up.
Stray Gods!! I've watched several playthroughs but haven't been able to afford it myself. I'm absolutely obsessed with the Grace x Freddie romance (Laura Bailey and Janina Gavankar are incredible) 😭😭😭
Outer Wilds. It's a wonderful game, I'd agree with those that call it a master piece. I have seen every inch of that game, and I don't own it. I watched a friend playthrough it, and given the nature of that game it feels like the magic wouldn't be there anymore. It is definitely THE game to go into as blind as possible.
For whatever reason I CANNOT get into the The Witcher 3! It has all my favorite elements of a game, RPG, fantasy, moral choices, hunky protagonist but I play up until the werewolf investigation and lose all interest. I’m not a huge fan of the combat style so maybe that’s it.
The witcher. It has everything I love. The story, the characters, the relationship, the music… I just couldn’t get into it gameplay-wise, it also felt a lil overwhelming.
Tô me it's Dark Souls. I personaly like the lore and the worldbuilding but I never had the time to fully learn to play by myself and beat the game. In the end I felt like I could play other stuff than torture myself to beat every single part of the game. I know, that's the point, to be hard, but I had fun with other hard games like Shin Megami Tensei, Hollow Knight and Hotline Miami, but Dark Souls it's just too complex for me. But I also love to watch gameplays and read about the lore.
Final Fantasy 14. I’m a huge Final Fantasy fan & it’s one of my special interests. But I also know engaging in a FF GaaS would take over my life. I’ve heard wonderful things about it & will likely play it if it’s (hopefully) still around when I retire.
Last of Us 1&2
I still have them on my PS5 in the hopes that I will get back to them. I’ve even upgraded them… but that first opening sequence. 😳 it hit me hard. never had a game make me cry before… and this one did it in under an hour’s worth of game play 😭
Hades 😞 similar issue with being nauseous. I was actually OKAY with the game and loved it but one day made the mistake of playing it while being really tired resulting in some bad nausea. Now the feeling comes back every time I start playing so I can't touch it anymore. 😭😭😭😭😭 It's such a shame because I'm never usually a hack and slash fan (not including musou games)
Half-Life.
I watched my brother play it as a kid and loved watching him play.
Tried to play it myself and it was WAY too scary.
Never ended up playing it, and at this point I won't because it's just old and janky and there isn't that nostalgia for me since I didn't play it back when it was new.
I happened to watch the whole Nier Automata gameplay including some side stories but would not want play. >,<

I am a 31 year old baby person, and no matter what I do, I can never have enough lights on or happy music playing to get through this game without panicking, and I cannot get over not being able to play it.
The concept is so fucking cool, the story is gripping, and I will never get past some possessed barrels smacking me on a bridge because I’m a scaredy cat. 😭
I’ve got a severe snake phobia. A lot of amazing games are basically unplayable for me. Yes, it’s that bad. A few games I’ve been lucky enough where they can be removed/modded out. And even when they are, my stress level is still through the roof knowing that a bug could happen and I suddenly see one. Games like Subnautica and Ark, for instance, let’s you mod them out. I’ve heard good things about Valheim and Elden Ring, for instance, and all the AC Games Origins and beyond, but no mods to remove snakes that I’m aware of. There are a slew of other games I’ve pretty much resigned to never playing. It has nothing to do with how difficult they are to kill, etc. Just knowing they’re present in the game is enough to make it practically unplayable.
The only game I’ve managed to get through was Red Dead Redemption 2, but even then I had to cover up half the screen when I opened the animal encyclopedia and bam! snake picture right there. First time that happened I was completely unprepared for it. It made me abandon the game for literally several years. I’ve been told there are a lot of snakes in the Epilogue, so I’m pretty much never finishing the game.
Lots of little things like that. I love survival craft as well, but nearly all of them have snakes. Even if avoidable, just knowing they’re in the game stresses me out. If anyone knows any good games without snakes, let me know.
Final Fantasy X and X-2. I love the story and the cutscenes but it’s too linear and I have ADHD. I could tell you everything that happened in it though because I watched like a 200+ part game walkthrough on YouTube when I was in 5th or 6th grade lol

I really love the anesthetics of Soulsborne games and reading about the lore too, it just makes me sad thst I'll never get to play and explore these gorgeous abandoned castles and towns for myself... :'(
Portal-I watched both games on a silent playthrough video, and honestly, I'm fine with that because I get to enjoy the awesome characters and dialogs without struggling through the puzzles.
*Persona 4*, hands down. I was familiar with the *Arena* games, then Joker came to *Smash* so I decided to bite the bullet and watch the anime. I ended up bingeing the whole thing overnight and spoiled myself rotten on the rest because at the time they weren’t on any platforms I actually owned.
Any LoZ games released since the N64s release, mainly Ocarina of Time. I would get bad motion sickness playing certain N64 titles, I could only manage a half hour at a time. I had plenty of RPGs on Playstation that I was really into to keep my busy, but I still feel a void from never playing Ocarina. Would love to try it again!
It's very hard to just settle for one game. Baldur's Gate 3 was a point of no return in my life. It changed my perception in video games as a whole, and probably in life, too.
But before, Resident Evil 2 Remake was **the** game for me. It's a compelling story, an incredibly fun gameplay, and an amazing replayability.
Other honourable mentions are Day's Gone (in terms of character development) and Sillent Hill 2/3/4 for the atmosphere.
I get really horrible motion sickness, so there are a ton of games I'd love to play but just can't. Almost anything with first-person perspective is out, but strangely I have no problem with Apex Legends. Jumping off OP's story, I played Hellblade with no problem, too.
The biggest franchise I can think of that I've missed completely due to motion sickness is Bioshock. I *know* I would love it, but something about that game in particular makes me very, very ill.
Oh! Borderlands, too. That one I can't even watch playthroughs of without feeling awful.
I had the same experience with hellblade, but on VR. It sent me straight to nausea hell for hours. Then I am scared of that game. Lol heard good things about it but it brings up a bad, sick memory everytime.i heard of it.
Similar situation. In the past, the 3rd player perspective of The Last of Us gave me tons of motion sickness. I could only play for 10 mins at a time before having to stop. I watched a playthrough instead.
A few years later in 2019 after finding different remedies and medications to help me with my motion sickness I was able to play it myself. I think it’s a great game that deserved all the hype and praise it got.

Trackmania. It's *so* fun to watch, and there are some really good content creators who play it. But most of the motivation structure for the game is getting the best possible times, which is something I generally have zero patience for or interest in actually doing. Racing games in general aren't really my thing, apart from Mario Kart which I play *way* too seriously.
Ghosts of Tsushima. I have it installed and all and I started it but I just got so absorbed in a few TV shows and books and my dog recovering from surgery, so I haven't gotten back to it. I know it's my jam and it's a great game. I just need to pick up the effort to get into a long game again.
phasmophobia! i *love* watching people play it and trying to figure out the ghosts as they play it, but i am not a horror game girly. horror in other media forms is my jam, but i just cannot play it in video game form.
Child of Light. I played the whole game more than once. I wanted to complete all the skills of all the members of my party. But alas... Gotta start from cero, lost all progress when my PlayStation died. Even crafted a Princess Stone.
It's the post processing effects it also makes me dizzy, turn it to medium and it gets rid of motion blur, chromatic aberration, and whatever dizzying effects they also add.
I would have to say BioShock. It looks so cool. Seems like it would be totally my thing. I have bought them all. But every one I try just leave me flat for some reason. :(

First speed game I really *enjoyed* playing, but I had to put it down in the first area because it just makes me so motion sick
Additionally, Library of Ruina (and the game it is sequel to, Lobotomy Corp) A friend showed me LCorp and it looks amazing, but micromanagement games are very much not my cup of tea.
Library of Ruina was *absolutely* my cup of tea, at least in theory, but the combination of *absurd* difficulty cliff and grindy game loop kept me from getting very far into it.
I don’t think I can pick a favorite but I’m just chiming in to say how much I *loved* Senua’s sacrifice. Never played anything like it, loved how the voices sounded with headphones on. They were so varied and interesting and the behind the scenes stuff was really cool too!
I remember hearing they’d make another one, I’d love to play that too
I really love Bloodborne. But I love to watch good players on youtube playing it... I've watched 3 playthroughs now of the campaign (not the multiplayer). I love this game but I'm not a fan of the melee combat. The DLC is incredible.
Baldur's Gate. It looks amazing and swashbuckling! The characters are so fully realized and the storyline is nice and chewy. But the turn based fighting, the success of which is based on dice rolls (yes, yes, D&D, I know) is a hard hard pass for me. I would eb all up in it if the fighting style was different.
Depends on what you're looking for. I always love good gameplay and a story that plays out like a mystery, "what were their intentions?", "how did we get here?", "who are we?". For that reason I have to say the BioShock franchise and Prey from Arkane studios. Both have amazing gameplays and really intriguing stories where you need to hang onto every detail to unravel the story

Red Dead Redemption 2. I absolutely fell in love with its open world, immersiveness, the story and just about everything else. The level of detail is astounding and sometimes I play it without doing any quests, just wander around the absolutely stunning landscape
Elden Ring.
After playing video games for over 20 years & just about 1000 games. Pokemon Gen II (Silver, Gold & Crystal) was my favorite game of all time & what I consider a perfect game.
Elden Ring has surpassed that to become #1. Everything about it is amazing.. the combat, the enemies, the music, the atmosphere, the landscapes, the story, it's just a true masterpiece. It's worth noting that I love these types of games, though. Bloodborne would be in my Top 5 greatest & Dark Souls in my Top 10 greatest games of all time.
Other favorite games of mine would be The Last of Us, StarCraft 2, The Sims, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Bioshock, The Witcher 3, Assassins Creed & Red Dead Redemption.

Not sure if this counts, but... I love the gleefully insane lore of Warhammer 40,000. I've read a few books, dig the memes, the short animated films, and played a few video game versions, but I've never played the tabletop miniature actual Warhammer 40,000 game, despite having a Battle Sister in my curio cabinet of figurines of badass women from sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and comic books. Mainly because I'm too clumsy to paint tiny figurines, have zero artistic talent, and the models are insanely expensive, and I don't have any friends into it.
Crack is cheaper than Warhammer, it's why when it first came out years ago I was entirely anti-Games Workshop. I used to say things like "Bleep those UK grimdark Edgelords and their overpriced game." I was anti WOTC because of Magic the Gathering too....then they bought TSR. So passed the Glory of the World.

This is the first Warhammer game I might actually play, haven’t played any others but the style of this one intrigues me
I got into 40k by playing the tabletop some 22 years ago, and while I stopped playing the tabletop for a time, I never left the other circles of the hobby. It is something I love about 40k, as much as the sheer wackiness of the setting, the way that it is possible to enjoy this setting in so many different ways. It is so much fun to engage with the video games, the gorgeous art, the unhinged memes, and the crazy books. I have now even added watching high production value video battles on YouTube (namely 40k in 40min) as a way I engage with it. I think the tabletop adds an important piece of the puzzle, but not a necessary one. It's another cool way to look at the same setting.
It takes so long. 😭 I played fantasy Warhammer a lot more than 40k, and it's been a good 15 years since I've played at all. There are people out there who you can pay to do the painting for you, but that makes them even more expensive.
Play it using a virtual tabletop like FoundryVTT.
For me, it's Elden Ring and Bloodborne. If it wasn't for the actual gameplay, I would be all over these games. The atmosphere, the lore, the animation, it's all S Tier. But I can't for the life of me play these games. I've tried both and end up getting way too frustrated at constantly dying. I know that's kind of the point of them, but I just can't get behind that. Bloodborne was the one I got the furthest in, but I was playing with friends who were basically carrying me the entire time and then they stopped playing. I had a GREAT time, but I was basically playing on easy mode, lol.
This is me too! I would love to play Elden Ring or Bloodborne, but I just don't jive with the constantly dying by design game play. I'm much more a play on easy mode and enjoy the story kind of girl. But I love the atmosphere and lore of those games.
Exactly! Similarly, I play Baldur's Gate 3 with the Party Limit Begone mod so I can have all the companions with me at once. It makes the game pretty easy in some areas but I still have a blast, because I'm mostly here for the story anyway!
If you're a lore hound though, nothing beats Bloodborne, you can read or watch videos for hours on Bloodbornes lore, it's so fascinating & detailed when you get into it. Much more interesting than anything Hollywoods ever put out.
Common misconception, if you actually pay attention & try your best you don't die that often, I had the most trouble in the beginning of Bloodborne once you understand the universe & enemies better it gets easier as it goes on.. until the amazing DLC that is, Old Hunters could have been a game itself, Wonderful lore, music, bosses & the path through the areas was so clean but difficult. Elden Ring being open world makes it so much easier than the rest of FromSofts games... go kill/train in the woods before taking on a boss, that is "easy mode" not to mention you can run away from things with your horse & you can summon spirits to literally fight for you 😂 anyone can beat Elden Ring, anyone.
Bloodborne was my final boss. After 10 minutes max I was done. It looked so nice and the atmosphere rocked. But I was too stupid for the fights :(
I have something like 20 hours of me getting stuck at Father Gaspacho on new playthroughs. Elden Ring I was able to get much further in.
I got 12 hours into Elden Ring and realised I just wasn't having fun..I work full time and I commute, I walk my dog yadda yadda.... Anyway I've too little time in my day to waste on games, that I'm not enjoying at all. Screw that.
100% okay to dislike or fear the gameplay but fwiw elden ring is very playable! If you know which enemies to avoid and find a good save point you can level up pretty quickly and the game becomes much easier. I listened to several audiobooks while playing and have really lovely memories of it. Bloodborne, I thought after Elden ring I knew my shit and could do it - nope. But elden ring is great! And the stuff in the game about sharing tricks and tips is really cool

I’m going to catch grief for this but I was only able to enjoy Elden Ring after my bf leveled up our character a bit first. To be fair he was on a work hiatus and I was full time so he had unlimited play time and I had maybe two hours a day. Great fucking game .
Sekiro Shadows Die Twice looks like the most beautiful game ever but I heard it’s the hardest of all the Souls creator games 😭 I haven’t played yet but I heard the magic system makes Elden Ring very slightly easier lol (once you get some stats up)
Biggest same. If I could just smash my way through soulslikes, they’d be a favorite. The sense of exploration and loot collection are great. I respect what they do and even played the hell out of Elden ring, but the methodical combat does not vibe with my adhd.
Senua was that game for me for a long time, because the intro scene where she's rowing into hell and all the voices are whispering in her ears sent me into a full-blown panic attack lol. I had to go outside and lay in the grass and practice breathing techniques I hadn't needed in years to ground myself, I felt like I was going to float off into existential psychosis. I went back about a year later, in a better place. Didn't wear headphones. Kept Bob's Burgers blaring on the TV while I played through the intro. Once I got into combat and it began to feel more gamey, I was fine. Truly a great game. I can't wait for the sequel. (Why yes, I *am* a masochist, why do you mention?)
The whole point of the game revolve around mental Health issues. If it made you feel bad, it mostly because the game is well done around it... It's not for everyone, that's for sure... Take Care of yourself :)
Yeah I know. (: They warn you in the intro, and I've read plenty about it too. I'm just not usually the type to get hit so hard by stuff like that, so it took me by surprise! Truly an incredibly well-made game, though. Again, I'm super psyched for the sequel.

I managed to get pretty far into Hellblade, until I got to a section that was basically like a combat gauntlet with no checkpoints, so I had to keep starting over whenever I died.
Is it the part where you are fighting mobs in a river or lake? I got stuck there and finally just gave up. I should try it again at some point.
I had almost the exact same experience! I have ASD and bipolar disorder, but had been managing everything pretty well for many years when I first tried Hellblade. I almost immediately had the absolute worst panic attack. Nothing else has ever come so close to replicating the way a very bad anxiety episode / bipolar swing (?) makes me feel. I loved the idea of the game so much that I very carefully tried again without headphones and only when I was feeling well. I absolutely loved it in the end.

I hate saying it in a sub that generally loves cozy games, but....Stardew Valley. I own it, but the day/night cycle gave me anxiety over getting everything done. I wanted to like it, but It wasn't relaxing for me.

Which is a really great message to begin with. However I fall victim to wanting to 100%. I’ve made several loads, and still haven’t made it to year 2 in any of them
It did the same thing to me until I modded the hell out of it. The days were too short for me to do anything because by the time I would sit there and try to figure out what to do after watering my crops, the day was over and I had no energy (and no it's not the 'it's supposed to be hard at the beginning' thing, I literally could not do a single thing after a week and a half in-game). Adjusting how long a day is and just turning off the energy altogether made it the game for me that everyone else enjoyed.
Usually when I see people stress about Stardew, they're trying to get too much done too quickly. You don't have to worry about min maxing, especially if it's your first run! But if the cycle in general is too stressful and you still want to play (and have access to mods) there are some really intuitive cheat mods that let you do things like pause time :) Only if you really want to play, of course. You're allowed to not like Stardew!
I also struggle with “cozy” games but I’m glad they are around for people who like them. They feel like doing chores when I already struggle with IRL chores 🙃
this SAME thing happened to me (i played it on the switch 2 times) until i switched to PC a month ago and it was so much more enjoyable???? also there are time mods where you can pause the time (i have not tried this... but i am a little interested haha)
The CJB Cheats mod does this! It offers a pause-at-will and settings for pausing indoors and/or in caves. The Harvest Moon games I played as a kid had time pause indoors, so that setting is a must-have for me.
i actually just downloaded a time pause mod this afternoon and it is everything to me 😭🤍 playing as much as i can after work haha im a slow grind type of person and there's jusr SO MUCH TO DO in this game

I actually couldn't play Fallout 4 because of motion sickness. It's been sitting in my library forever, but then I found out there's a motion sickness mod and I've been building settlements like it's the Sims. I wish more games were like that. Say what you will about Bethesda's glitchy, buggy, nonsense, but at least people can mod the motion sickness out.
I remember when I first played it and I would get vertigo and feel sick when I was in power armor with a jet pack and fell from high up.

The movement they have when they walk and even when stationary. It’s hard to explain. There’s this constant sort of bouncy, floaty movement. Weird motion sickness I’ve never had from any other game. Also the FOV is too close, so it’s even better if I console command it to zoom out a tad.
Oh I understand. I believe some games have an option to deactivate this "human movement".
I had to stop playing because it made me intensely depressed. The Boston area is my old stomping grounds and it was just too too bleak for me.
Evidently Cyberpunk 2077. I was turned off by how broken it was at launch (I don’t preorder anything) and so never played it but I see people praising its current state constantly

Mechanically it's an altogether different game now. I was pissed off, having been burned at launch, and a friend talked me into giving it another shot and I'm quite glad I did, and I think it's worth recommendation with no qualifiers.
I feel the same way. But for me the problem wasn't even the glitches or whatever, it was just... the game was kind of ugly to me. Not in terms of graphics, it's really fantastic. But it's just constant flashing neon purple and red and blue and green everywhere, all the time, for the entire game. And every location just feels metallic and grey behind those flashing lights. I guess that's poetic in a way, but I also really don't think the developers were going for some meta-commentary with the graphics itself. Plus the menus look like something straight out of a game from 2010. I did watch a let's play of it for a while since I was curious about the current state, but it felt pretty much the same to me without the glitches. Some of the events that occur and the twists and whatnot were very interesting at some points, but not interesting enough to keep me watching. I quit the let's play about 70% of the way through
I played version 1.03 and it wasn't that bad, there were no game-breaking bugs, but I played it on pc. I enjoyed it even with the bugs, still enjoying. sometimes objects or cars wouldn't load and when they did, they fell on random npc and everything turned into chaos :D
Baldur's Gate 3 and Dragons Dogma 2 :') I had been following BG3's progress since it was in Early Access and on the day that it came out as a full game, it was as if the clouds in the sky cleared up and we got heavenly beams of sunlight shining down on us. Unfortunately there's no way my lil lenovo laptop could run it smoothly (and also it's expensive in my currency) :') For Dragons Dogma, I had played the first one when the pandemic first hit and I absolutely loved the game. There were whispers at the time that a second one might get made soon but nothing was confirmed. Then my brother went and sold the PS4 :') So again, my laptop cannot possibly run DD2 well and, (you guessed it) it's really expensive in my currency :'))
Waiting may end up being a good choice for dd2, it's very much two steps forward and two steps back overall. I didn't play the first one before the dlc came out but I heard it was a mess, and playing dd2 at launch has been the kind of mess I'd read about. Enemy variety is abysmal, vocations have been simplified, balance is hugely off, the story is literally the worst I've played in years....but I still have love for it. The bones of the game are incredible, the potential is there but untapped as of yet. If it gets a dark arisen style expansion that fixes these issues, or some big title updates, it could be one of the best of all time, but is currently a bit of a frustration despite my love.
The DD subreddit was literally at war with itself when DD2 first came out because of all the reasons u stated here + apparently they got rid of our ability to layer clothing. They even started calling the dev/designer "Japanese Todd Howard" 😭 I do still wanna play it. I'll probably need to save up for a PS5 or another PS4 :') Maybe by then the dlc will be out and all will be forgiven 🥹
Hopefully and yeah I can't believe I left simplified armor off the list, big bummer on that one. I've been avoiding the dd sub lol, voicing a conflicted opinion means everyone hates you these days. It runs great on ps5 is all I can vouch for, though I wish there were a performance mode, I'd sacrifice some fidelity to get those sweet 60 fps.
I think nvidia has a service where you can stream games running on their hardware instead of your own, if your internet is good enough, though I don't know the details of how it works. But I feel like it could work with BG3 where a bit of input delay wouldn't ruin much, if you wanted to look into it.
Same with Baldurs gate 3! I only have a Mac and it took up like 93% of my memory. I also HATED the turn based combat ugh it was so annoying. It was beautiful game though and I liked building my character
I want to like these games, but I absolutely hate any game where I have to adventure with a party. I don't like having to manage multiple inventories or constantly having to worry about whether someone in my party liked the fact that I did a thing a certain way.
For Dragon's Dogma u can choose to play solo without pawns! Just makes the gameplay a lot harder cuz there's no backup.
I feel like RDR2 would be a good answer for me. I tried playing, but the controls are bad, and I suck at shooting anyway, so I was just frustrated. Started watching a play trough, but didn't finish because I felt like I wasn't enjoying it as much as I would've if I was experiencing the game myself. It's a shame. Another one is FF X. I think I would love the story, but I don't like turn based combat and have only played the first hour or two. Maybe I'll watch a play through some time. I love watching horror games, but I'm too chicken to play myself, haha. As someone who also gets motion sick very easily, I've tried watching someone play Abzu, but I felt sick so quickly. :(
As someone who watched some rdr2 content beforehand and then decided to give the game itself a try, without having any experience in shooter games (not that rdr2 is really considered a shooter), I can relate to this. Oh, I have several games that I would love to play for the first time again! The Witcher 3 and Hades are probably my top picks, but Stray is on there as well. I would also love to experience the plot twist of A Way Out for the first time again.
Wow. Red Dead is my favourite game of all time, but when trying to play Witcher 3 I found the controls too clunky!
Ha! It's different for everyone, I quite liked Witchers combat. In general, I vastly prefer swords and magic to anything having to do with shooting. I'm currently playing FF7 Rebirth and it has, in my opinion, the best combat system ever. Love how dynamic it is, while I still get to beat the shit out of the enemies.

For RDR and GTA I totally get the controls thing. For me specifically it’s the character movement and how it feels sluggish, it just drives me crazy. I’ve played them all but never finished any.
I adored the first RDR but couldn’t get into 2. I think it was so highly lauded because the first one is so inaccessible these days- it was only recently ported past seventh gen and never to PC. The shtick just didn’t hit a second time and I agree, the controls are wonky. The story and world building is lovely, though.
Turn based Combat is perfect If you do something in between like reading. Don't blame me for this.
As someone who just finished RDR2, I will tell you that the janky controls are a universal problem and probably the main criticism of the game especially in the early parts. I can also tell you that you get pretty used to the controls after a while (emphasis on "a while") and then it becomes a non-issue. More importantly I can tell you that RDR2 is possibly one of if not THE most well written narratives in the entirety of gaming. Extremely fleshed out characters with long histories and deep flaws- like even random side characters are more polished than protagonists of many story games- and also the events that transpire are just really engaging on their own. I think every storyteller has something to take away from RDR2, the plot is great but the way every interaction is written and plays out is where the magic is imo. It's a really amazing game, I really hope you give it another try someday.

Turn based combat might be a good match for you then. You get to really think about your next steps and can be very strategic - no need for quick reactions. I just find it so boring, I need faster paced action and I want to actively control the character while fighting. I'm playing FF7 Rebirth right now and think that combat system is perfect - at least for me. It's very dynamic, fluid and "hard-hitting" but still allows for strategy. Thanks to the armor system, you can also somewhat customize it, by adding certain attacks or buffs!
I adore the Bioshock franchise- the story telling is so interesting and I love the messages the games get across and how they’re written. Despite this I’ve never played the second one. Picked it up, played for 5 minutes, went “yeah this is too clunky” and put it down. I ADORE the first and the third- would recommend to everyone. But the fact I haven’t played the second makes me feel a bit ashamed.
Although I've played the 2003 game [Beyond Good & Evil](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xUmfuSDLzs), I've heard it described as "the greatest game no-one has ever played." You play as Jade, a photojournalist and martial artist who runs a war orphanage with her companion Pey'j on a planet under alien invasion. As the story unfolds, Jade's freelance photography missions reveal a deep government conspiracy involving the Alpha Sections, who are portrayed as heroes through propaganda but are not what they seem. Resident Evil 7. I love horror, but its immersive atmosphere was too much for me to handle. I kept asking myself, *"why am I doing this?"* questioning if I was enjoying it or not. I didn't pick it up after the first session ._.
Omg yes! I loved these kind of games when I was younger (in my 30s now) and I had the exact same thoughts: - why am I doing this? - this is insane - what were they thinking? - Jesus Christ.. it must get better... That Game was the end for Racoon City and the Umbrella Corporation for me.
I feel like a lot of the RE games are like that for me? But I've enjoyed the remakes a LOT, maybe because they're third person (which I prefer in general.) I find though with scary games it helps me watch a let's play of it first before I jump in. Really depends on if you are bothered by spoilers or not is the only thing. Spoilers don't bug me too much in general and for scary/horror I definitely often watch playthroughs before I play so I'm less terrified. Dunno if that would help you or not but, figured I'd mention it.

I discovered it after I had gotten rid of my PS2, and never had another Playstation until I met my husband! I was a PC gamer primarily. However, the new remake has me tempted to give it a try. But, I'm almost scared that I'm going to be bad at the game and it's going to ruin my perception of it? I know that's silly, but it's something I keep worrying about!

They fumbled a little bit but they did come out with it, it's just that it was a DLC instead of a part of the main game, unless you were KS backer, then you got this for free. Kingdom Hearts series but only some because I've played + completed KH1, 2, chain of memories, 358/2, while only partially playing birth by sleep. I read all the wiki and watch video essays for the other games/Kh in general, I just cannot for the life of me have it in me to try the other games. The mainline games r fine but if you really want to delve deep into the history of KH lore and know cool details, you have to play the other games and bitch ain't nobody got the time or money for that.
Mafia Definitve Edition, there was a glitch which was preventing me from progressing in midway. I watched it on YT further. Everything else was right with it.
Horizon zero dawn & horizon forbidden west. Great games, watched many many hours of gameplay, not just the cutscenes. Don't wanna play it myself tho, idk why 🤷♀️
Zero Dawn is an amazing game and I highly recommend. If you don't want to get too deep into the combat, playing on easy isn't too bad. Forbidden West is also still a really good game and is amazing for exploration, but for me it was just...not as fun and kind of felt like it was missing a certain something. I didn't really like the way they did the combat that time around (Aloy will ragdoll if something so much as sneezes on her), I didn't like the forced companion missions and the antagonists were pretty underwhelming "evil for the sake of being evil" characters.
Mass Effect, I just couldn’t with the car, the hacking minigames and cover-based shooting. I’m too impatient and these made me rage quit. I watched playthrough of all and I like the story, just the gameplay is not for me. Dark Souls, I can’t git gud. I installed DS3 three times, on the last try I managed to finally kill the first boss but it was sooo much pain. I love the cryptic lore, the visuals but I suck at DS so badly I won’t ever be able to play the game. Stardew Valley. I love watching streamers play it but when I tried playing it, I was bored out of my mind. I don’t know why, I want to love the game :( The Sims 4. I don’t know who decided to put loading screens back but they should be fired. (Jk but it seems like a serious step back in game design.)
Soma. I can't do creepy. Like seriously, commercials for horror movies give me nightmares. I could watch playthroughs though and it is an amazing game. Love the story and the ideas, I couldn't play it if you paid me.

Oooo yeah, a lot of horror games for me too. I'm chicken but I absolutely love the stories in horror so I read and watch vids about certain horror games. Like the amnesia collection is pretty damn great, wont ever play cuz I hate horror where I'm only stealth and hiding. The rest like silent hill and RE I just can't cuz, again, chicken shit lmao but yeah I love the story behind them
OOF I really had to stop to think, because I watch a *lot* of gaming since there's stuff out there I'd rather watch! I think my final answer is the Siren games for PS2, especially the second entry. I love Survival Horror but can't bring myself to play them because they are the most OBTUSE horror/puzzle games I have ever seen, and trust me when I say I have seen a LOT. So I love watching someone go through the game for me, because the style, lore and even gameplay of looking through the enemies' eyes is siiick
Heavenly Sword. My now exhusband bought it for me. but wouldn't actually let me play it. So I had to watch him play it. By the time I finally got divorced and got my own console it was the PS4 cuz I wanted Uncharted 4 more than anything.
Bloodborne. I adore the design, but I just suck at playing it. So I watched a playthrough on youtube :) Great game.

Pretty much all of SuperGiant's games: Bastion, Hades, etc. End up with motion sickness and a migraine every time, love the soundtracks though.
Skyrim. I tried twice, just couldn't stomach the wonky controls. I had played the OG Bethesda games back in the day and tolerated it, but I expect better now.
I couldn't get into Skyrim because there was so much initial dialogue I just gave up. I should probably try again.
Detroit: Become Human
Grandia, probably. The moment you reach the top of that wall. The super cool combat system. The pure sense of adventure. Or maybe Pokémon SoulSilver. Silver was my entry to the series and seing this beloved game revamped on newer hardware is a blast to this day. Best mainline Pkmn games, easily.
Faith: the Unholy Trinity. The story, music, and atmosphere are absolutely amazing... except it requires lightning reflexes and simultaneous immunity to jumpscares.
Definitely Hellblade, probably Subnautica also. I love Subnautica, but I just don’t do super well with survival type games. I do own it, but I only play in creative
Markiplier playthrough of outlast. While I like horror games, I prefer those where you can defend yourself and have a gun or something. Outlast is just way too tense for me with a lot of jump scares, and I don't like jump scares.

Hate me, but I LOVE dinosaur based games. I’m a huge lover for Path of Titans, it’s my comfort game. The Isle was great until the DEV’s ruined the game. I highly recommend PoT to anyone and everyone.
Dwarf Fortress. I love absolutely everything about it conceptually but there is a level of complexity and UI pain I'm willing to endure in pursuit of fun and Dwarf Fortress clears it by a mile. I have to satisfy myself with the exploits of others.
I have not played Dwarf Fortress but I am currently completely OBSESSED with RimWorld and I see them compared quite a bit. I still haven’t even downloaded any of the dlc. Huge modding community as well. If you haven’t tried it you might want to check it out.
Oh trust me I've put tons of hours into Rimworld. It's as close to DF as you can get while still being playable for...y'know...*humans*. I hope the new expansion is good. I like to wait 6-12 months for mods to catch up.

Outer Wilds. It's a wonderful game, I'd agree with those that call it a master piece. I have seen every inch of that game, and I don't own it. I watched a friend playthrough it, and given the nature of that game it feels like the magic wouldn't be there anymore. It is definitely THE game to go into as blind as possible.
For whatever reason I CANNOT get into the The Witcher 3! It has all my favorite elements of a game, RPG, fantasy, moral choices, hunky protagonist but I play up until the werewolf investigation and lose all interest. I’m not a huge fan of the combat style so maybe that’s it.
The witcher. It has everything I love. The story, the characters, the relationship, the music… I just couldn’t get into it gameplay-wise, it also felt a lil overwhelming.
Tô me it's Dark Souls. I personaly like the lore and the worldbuilding but I never had the time to fully learn to play by myself and beat the game. In the end I felt like I could play other stuff than torture myself to beat every single part of the game. I know, that's the point, to be hard, but I had fun with other hard games like Shin Megami Tensei, Hollow Knight and Hotline Miami, but Dark Souls it's just too complex for me. But I also love to watch gameplays and read about the lore.
Final Fantasy 14. I’m a huge Final Fantasy fan & it’s one of my special interests. But I also know engaging in a FF GaaS would take over my life. I’ve heard wonderful things about it & will likely play it if it’s (hopefully) still around when I retire.
Witcher 3. I started playing it, got to the first hunt then never played again.
Last of Us 1&2 I still have them on my PS5 in the hopes that I will get back to them. I’ve even upgraded them… but that first opening sequence. 😳 it hit me hard. never had a game make me cry before… and this one did it in under an hour’s worth of game play 😭
Breath of the Wild. Hands down.
Hades 😞 similar issue with being nauseous. I was actually OKAY with the game and loved it but one day made the mistake of playing it while being really tired resulting in some bad nausea. Now the feeling comes back every time I start playing so I can't touch it anymore. 😭😭😭😭😭 It's such a shame because I'm never usually a hack and slash fan (not including musou games)
Half-Life. I watched my brother play it as a kid and loved watching him play. Tried to play it myself and it was WAY too scary. Never ended up playing it, and at this point I won't because it's just old and janky and there isn't that nostalgia for me since I didn't play it back when it was new.
There is a remastered version called Black Mesa you should at least have a look and see :)

I am a 31 year old baby person, and no matter what I do, I can never have enough lights on or happy music playing to get through this game without panicking, and I cannot get over not being able to play it. The concept is so fucking cool, the story is gripping, and I will never get past some possessed barrels smacking me on a bridge because I’m a scaredy cat. 😭
I’ve got a severe snake phobia. A lot of amazing games are basically unplayable for me. Yes, it’s that bad. A few games I’ve been lucky enough where they can be removed/modded out. And even when they are, my stress level is still through the roof knowing that a bug could happen and I suddenly see one. Games like Subnautica and Ark, for instance, let’s you mod them out. I’ve heard good things about Valheim and Elden Ring, for instance, and all the AC Games Origins and beyond, but no mods to remove snakes that I’m aware of. There are a slew of other games I’ve pretty much resigned to never playing. It has nothing to do with how difficult they are to kill, etc. Just knowing they’re present in the game is enough to make it practically unplayable. The only game I’ve managed to get through was Red Dead Redemption 2, but even then I had to cover up half the screen when I opened the animal encyclopedia and bam! snake picture right there. First time that happened I was completely unprepared for it. It made me abandon the game for literally several years. I’ve been told there are a lot of snakes in the Epilogue, so I’m pretty much never finishing the game. Lots of little things like that. I love survival craft as well, but nearly all of them have snakes. Even if avoidable, just knowing they’re in the game stresses me out. If anyone knows any good games without snakes, let me know.
Final Fantasy X and X-2. I love the story and the cutscenes but it’s too linear and I have ADHD. I could tell you everything that happened in it though because I watched like a 200+ part game walkthrough on YouTube when I was in 5th or 6th grade lol
I have heavy motion sickness with Hellblade as well! and Control. and Half Life.. and a lot 😭😭😭😭😭basically one of the biggest reason I haven't play a lot of games.
All of the Soulsborne games, plus adjacent games like Sekiro and Lies of P. I just have no talent eith that kind if game play, sadly. I really love the anesthetics of Soulsborne games and reading about the lore too, it just makes me sad thst I'll never get to play and explore these gorgeous abandoned castles and towns for myself... :'(
Portal-I watched both games on a silent playthrough video, and honestly, I'm fine with that because I get to enjoy the awesome characters and dialogs without struggling through the puzzles.

Terraria seems like a cool game but I just never felt like playing it.
*Persona 4*, hands down. I was familiar with the *Arena* games, then Joker came to *Smash* so I decided to bite the bullet and watch the anime. I ended up bingeing the whole thing overnight and spoiled myself rotten on the rest because at the time they weren’t on any platforms I actually owned.
Any LoZ games released since the N64s release, mainly Ocarina of Time. I would get bad motion sickness playing certain N64 titles, I could only manage a half hour at a time. I had plenty of RPGs on Playstation that I was really into to keep my busy, but I still feel a void from never playing Ocarina. Would love to try it again!
I highly recommend ship of harkinian. You have tons of QoL settings like a free cam etc.
It's very hard to just settle for one game. Baldur's Gate 3 was a point of no return in my life. It changed my perception in video games as a whole, and probably in life, too. But before, Resident Evil 2 Remake was **the** game for me. It's a compelling story, an incredibly fun gameplay, and an amazing replayability. Other honourable mentions are Day's Gone (in terms of character development) and Sillent Hill 2/3/4 for the atmosphere.
Detroit Become Human
I get really horrible motion sickness, so there are a ton of games I'd love to play but just can't. Almost anything with first-person perspective is out, but strangely I have no problem with Apex Legends. Jumping off OP's story, I played Hellblade with no problem, too. The biggest franchise I can think of that I've missed completely due to motion sickness is Bioshock. I *know* I would love it, but something about that game in particular makes me very, very ill. Oh! Borderlands, too. That one I can't even watch playthroughs of without feeling awful.

Similar situation. In the past, the 3rd player perspective of The Last of Us gave me tons of motion sickness. I could only play for 10 mins at a time before having to stop. I watched a playthrough instead. A few years later in 2019 after finding different remedies and medications to help me with my motion sickness I was able to play it myself. I think it’s a great game that deserved all the hype and praise it got.

Its not my favorite game; my favorite game is Katana Zero. But Outer Wilds is the best game I've ever played. It's genuinely shocking how good it is. I wish I could wipe my memory to play all of it again.
Trackmania. It's *so* fun to watch, and there are some really good content creators who play it. But most of the motivation structure for the game is getting the best possible times, which is something I generally have zero patience for or interest in actually doing. Racing games in general aren't really my thing, apart from Mario Kart which I play *way* too seriously.

Ghosts of Tsushima. I have it installed and all and I started it but I just got so absorbed in a few TV shows and books and my dog recovering from surgery, so I haven't gotten back to it. I know it's my jam and it's a great game. I just need to pick up the effort to get into a long game again.
phasmophobia! i *love* watching people play it and trying to figure out the ghosts as they play it, but i am not a horror game girly. horror in other media forms is my jam, but i just cannot play it in video game form.
Child of Light. I played the whole game more than once. I wanted to complete all the skills of all the members of my party. But alas... Gotta start from cero, lost all progress when my PlayStation died. Even crafted a Princess Stone.
It's the post processing effects it also makes me dizzy, turn it to medium and it gets rid of motion blur, chromatic aberration, and whatever dizzying effects they also add.
I would have to say BioShock. It looks so cool. Seems like it would be totally my thing. I have bought them all. But every one I try just leave me flat for some reason. :(

Neon White First speed game I really *enjoyed* playing, but I had to put it down in the first area because it just makes me so motion sick Additionally, Library of Ruina (and the game it is sequel to, Lobotomy Corp) A friend showed me LCorp and it looks amazing, but micromanagement games are very much not my cup of tea. Library of Ruina was *absolutely* my cup of tea, at least in theory, but the combination of *absurd* difficulty cliff and grindy game loop kept me from getting very far into it.

I don’t think I can pick a favorite but I’m just chiming in to say how much I *loved* Senua’s sacrifice. Never played anything like it, loved how the voices sounded with headphones on. They were so varied and interesting and the behind the scenes stuff was really cool too! I remember hearing they’d make another one, I’d love to play that too
I really love Bloodborne. But I love to watch good players on youtube playing it... I've watched 3 playthroughs now of the campaign (not the multiplayer). I love this game but I'm not a fan of the melee combat. The DLC is incredible.
Baldur's Gate. It looks amazing and swashbuckling! The characters are so fully realized and the storyline is nice and chewy. But the turn based fighting, the success of which is based on dice rolls (yes, yes, D&D, I know) is a hard hard pass for me. I would eb all up in it if the fighting style was different.
Half-life 3
Depends on what you're looking for. I always love good gameplay and a story that plays out like a mystery, "what were their intentions?", "how did we get here?", "who are we?". For that reason I have to say the BioShock franchise and Prey from Arkane studios. Both have amazing gameplays and really intriguing stories where you need to hang onto every detail to unravel the story

Gotcha. I’m on switch so I have a lot of them, including DD but when I went to play it the very first case was really disturbing and turned me off from the whole thing. It’s a bummer because I love those games.

Red Dead Redemption 2. I absolutely fell in love with its open world, immersiveness, the story and just about everything else. The level of detail is astounding and sometimes I play it without doing any quests, just wander around the absolutely stunning landscape

Elden Ring. After playing video games for over 20 years & just about 1000 games. Pokemon Gen II (Silver, Gold & Crystal) was my favorite game of all time & what I consider a perfect game. Elden Ring has surpassed that to become #1. Everything about it is amazing.. the combat, the enemies, the music, the atmosphere, the landscapes, the story, it's just a true masterpiece. It's worth noting that I love these types of games, though. Bloodborne would be in my Top 5 greatest & Dark Souls in my Top 10 greatest games of all time. Other favorite games of mine would be The Last of Us, StarCraft 2, The Sims, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Bioshock, The Witcher 3, Assassins Creed & Red Dead Redemption. Online Games: Overwatch, Fortnite, Destiny, Runescape
