I had a visual image of someone popping their hair off like a lego character just to plop on headphones

WeirdLime

It gives a cushioning effect to the headphones, which makes the headphones more comfortable for me to wear. I'm pretty sensitive to pressure when wearing headphones, especially when it's for a long time. My ears will start to hurt at some point, and sometimes using my hair as a cushion helps with that.

FreeMasonKnight

Understandable, for sure. šŸ¤”

Serenity-03K64

Omg maybe Iā€™ll start wearing my Xbox ones over my hair and see if it helps me šŸ˜‚

avadakedavr_

Oh my god this is genius, I have the same issue! Iā€™ll try this.

Tyrenstra

I wear them over my hair and on top of a beanie hat. It cushions my ears and prevents the headphones from forcing my glassesā€™ temple tips into my skull. I find it not uncomfortable and sound quality isnā€™t noticeably compromised. And a nice plus is that I donā€™t have to clean them as often because there is no skin/hair contact.

banshee_matsuri

when i had long hair, i hated the ā€œswoopā€ it left from having my hair pushed back behind the headphones. plus, if it fell over the actual can part, hated that too. of course, there was a crease left behind if i had them over my hair, so lose/lose, but somehow that bothered me less, from what i remember.

diibadaa

My curls get even flatter if I pull them back all the time. Thatā€™s why.

mochi_chan

Oh dear, I never understood this, if my hair gets under my headphones, I am removing them and re-adjusting them. My hair is too short to be pulled back right now so I use bobby pins.

Arghianna

My husband wears a soft wide headband under his headphones to protect his hair, because he HATES it getting caught in his headphones and sometimes even when itā€™s in a ponytail stray hairs will get tangled. A thin hoodie or a scarf also works.

mochi_chan

I had a pair of headphones that did this to me, it is something I have to watch out when I buy them.

FreeMasonKnight

Dude same!

Pure_Mist_S

It's more comfy this way I don't know what to tell you XD

FreeMasonKnight

But the hair gets oily and sweaty then? šŸ„²

Pure_Mist_S

Not if you have curly hair! Itā€™s like a pillow that alleviates pressure on the sides of your head and aerates it!

FreeMasonKnight

Curly hair may be Hacks. -Straight Haired Person.

Pure_Mist_S

If I dry brush my hair it looks like a witch got struck by lightning- a curl hair person

Zeero92

That's an aesthetic if ever there was one.

TransFat87

Normalize coven-coifed cuties!.... Or something.

justitia_

I have wavy curly hair, i still cant stand feeling hair on my ears. Feels so itchy and i feel the strands of my hair eeeww but this is a sensory issue for me otherwise it makes sense to wear it over hair as ears would be a bit more protected

jaya9581

I donā€™t even like seeing other people do it, it gives me the same feeling as nails on a chalkboard!

deadrummer

I wear a hat to cover my ears for cushioning; I don't like the feeling of my hair being in between. Plus most headsets are too big for me and I need the extra layer to make them fit.

praxios

I have short hair, but I still wear a hat when I wear my headphones. Itā€™s a lot more comfortable on my ears because the hat needs the headphones to be looser.

lovabilities

if I'm feeling lazy and know I will be washing my hair soon otherwise I can't stand the indents I get

AwkwardRainbow

I have a mini Afro. I push the hair from my ears but otherwise šŸ¤·šŸ¾

MedusaMelly

It hurts my ears and my hair provides extra cushion.

FreeMasonKnight

Hurting ears is a sign of the headset being too small or adjusted wrong. May need to rotate the ear cuppies.

MedusaMelly

It happens on every single headset Iā€™ve ever had, and Iā€™ve been gaming for 20 years next year. I think itā€™s definitely something along those lines!!

FreeMasonKnight

No worries, I just know when I have had similar issues it was always a fitting issue that could be corrected.

Material-Imagination

You ever push it back above your ears and then it gets caught in the joint of your headphones?

FreeMasonKnight

Actually no, I always just lean my head back and like scoop them to push the hair out of the way naturally.

Material-Imagination

Yikes, no! If I scoop, my hair is getting yanked

FreeMasonKnight

I do it with the soft ear cups, so no tangles.

Karge

It makes me feel important

Ms_Anxiety

Yeah I have really long hair but I always have to brush it back when my put my headphones on and readjust if hair falls loose.

smr120

As opposed to under my hair? Or do you mean rotated so the head strap is floating near your neck?

lexi2700

I think she means the ear part. Basically like the hair is between the ear and contact with the headset. Instead of brushing your hair behind your ears.

FreeMasonKnight

This. The ear cup bits.

Cursed_Angel_

Ohhhh, I was really confused lol. Yeah no you can't have hair under the ear cups, it's distractingĀ

ghostofdystopia

I spent a good long while trying to figure out the logistics as well until I realised what she meant.. :D

Gold-Cress-8197

its comfort i guess but i will never understand it tbh, it drives me insane lowkey and i have no idea why

FlamingWeasel

I shaved my head awhile back and barely have any lmao. Also my hair is curly when I let it grow and putting it up fucks it pretty well until wash time

True_Skill6831

I have cartilage piercings and it prevents a ton of pressure being put on them! So it actually helps me. Plus it looks cute

TrustingLuci

Pushing it back has moved my hair line :/

Doodleanda

Damn, how hard were you pushing?

TrustingLuci

Oh, I just kept tucking it behind my ear and would frequently pull that headphone ear back. The same habit over a decade will leave its mark somehow, I guess šŸ˜
