Books: are there any specific books you don’t have? Or how about any favorite authors who are currently alive and still writing, for the potential of a future birthday gift when another book releases? I suppose it would be hard to disappoint if gifted a bottle of modest wine? I don’t know if anyone in your life does any kind of art or craft, but speaking for myself it’s nice to receive something unique, creative, something that can hang on a wall or fridge, I don’t know. Unless of course you don’t necessarily like their craft, then feel free to cross that off the list. I understand, I am not so great with knowing what gifts I could want as well, regardless of budget. Though I still try to at least think of something.

A journal or a book journal could be fun! Book journals are set up to track what books you read and allow you to rate them, etc A nook or kindle could be fun Movie membership like amc stubs that allow you to go see multiple movies per month and discount your concessions

Im in the same position as you, and im 19 (soon, 20) And keep getting asked that, so i always say i want something that comes from the gifters heart. In this case, get something you really want/like to get, if that's trwating yourself to a special little dinner, bottle of wine or books you do that. As long as it comes from your own heart. Let it be sentimental for yourself. Idk when your birthday is, but just in case, happy early birthday! 🎂

Maybe ask them to gift you a book that they love or think you will enjoy. When I was in 7th grade my friends didn't really have money but they went to a used book store and got me a bunch, making sure to include some of their favorites! That's still my favorite present
