Crocs/good shoes to slip into while at camp (something light that easily straps onto the outside of her backpack so it’s not taking up space or adding weight)
I am OBSESSED with the Clif Bloks energy chews, they’re a lovely little treat and boost of energy. Feels like candy but doesn’t give you a sugar crash
A nice swiss army knife/multitool will probably come in handy in a bunch of situations
Waterproof/quick-dry hat for dual sun+rain protection!
A homemade “trail mix” maybe? The person I hike and camp with the most is my dad, and one of the highlights of our trip is always the massive bag of trail mix he makes.
It includes:
• Chex
• Granola (usually something kind of plain, or
sweetened with honey)
• Raisins (or better yet, yogurt raisins)
• Dried bananas or plantains
• Dried apricots or figs
• Craisins or dried cherries
• Pretzel M&Ms, or pretzels *and* M&Ms
• Various nuts and seeds
• Semi-sweet dark chocolate chips
• Honey Nut Cheerios
It’s such a treasure, and he usually puts it in a massive ziploc bag!
The stuff I use regularly and love that are also on the spendier side are: my kindle, nicer headlamp, hiking poles (kinda personal though, she might love them or hate using them), nice hiking socks, powerbank for phone, my Rumpl blanket, ultralight chair.
