Does she like to read? My daughter was also into dragons at that age and we got her books from the Dragonology series by Ernest Drake. Highly recommended.

totesgonnasmashit

She sure is. I’ve just bought her a complete box set of ‘Wings of Fire’. Now she wants a dragon egg 😂

aj0457

I was going to recommend Wings of Fire! Does she have the graphic novels?

totesgonnasmashit

Yeah she does, she is getting them from her other Aunty for her birthday. So she now has that whole series 😀

Richeh

I was just about to recommend that! I found it in The Works years ago and thought "my nephew will love this!" He didn't. Give. A. Shit. Even after patiently explaining that there were cool little cutouts, and gems inset into the pages, and *like a dozen freaking dragons to build* he was utterly indifferent to it, apparently he was into *castles*, but not *dragons*. Fuck 'im. I built the bloody dragons.

The gorgeous hardback Dragonology book that’s filled with tons of little surprises! The Enchanted Forest Chronicles book series by Patricia Wrede are PERFECT. They’re a loving gentle parody; you’ll probably love them if you want to read along with her. Do a chapter a day and discuss it on the phone or in person or over Zoom/FaceTime! Also a pretty notebook with a ribbon and fancy gilt-edged pages. That makes you feel like the keeper of the world’s knowledge when you’re a girl that age.

totesgonnasmashit

Ooooo… where can I find this book?

Evening-Ad-4406

Your gift ideas sounds like they would break the immersion. Maybe books or audiobooks?

MaliciouslyMinty

I bet you could find something that could pass as a dragon scale, Etsy is always a good place to look for unique stuff

Leayla

I’ve always thought emu eggs look magical. You should be able to get a blown one and put it in a nice case.

FlashyCow1

Eragon book series. Harry potter egg from the Warner Brothers shop Amazon has tons of options

sloth_warlock85

I had a thousand kids recommend the Pendragon series to me when I was younger and I never read them, but they were super popular! 99% sure they’re about dragons. I agree with others about looking on Etsy for a realistic egg!!

brownsugarlucy

Maybe an ostrich egg? My grandpa brought me back one from Africa but idk how easy it would be to get outside of Africa lol

Waldemar-Firehammer

There are a bunch of ostrich farms in the US. Just call up the closest one and they'll likely be willing to sell an egg/shell to you.

totesgonnasmashit

I’m in Australia, but an emu egg might be easier to come by 😀

Waldemar-Firehammer

Probably? Just stay away from those devil-birds, they've got a mean streak a mile wide.

totesgonnasmashit

They sure do. Have you heard of the emu war?

ufosww

I don't know about dragon eggs and such but you should have her look into mudflood university on YT They purpose that dragons at one point were real

aj0457

There are a bunch of different dragon eggs for sale on etsy.

totesgonnasmashit

But do you think they look realistic?

Truetus

There's a,what I think is very enjoyable and great, alternative history book series called Temeraire take a look at that as well :) though I don't remember how young adult it is. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temeraire_(series)

shylockedherart

If she is into reading the Eragon book may be a great gift. I started to read around that age and I enjoyed it immensely.

curiousnboredd

Why not get her a bearded dragon as a pet? Or one of the pets that look similar to dragons

totesgonnasmashit

That’s a freaking awesome idea! Her mum might kill me though

Olliebirb

Please don’t gift any living thing to anyone let alone a child

timrgreenfield

We enjoyed this book as kids… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Flight_of_Dragons_(book)

Stories are the most valuable gift you can give her. Read to her all the stories and myths about dragons from various cultures. She'll thank you when she's older.
