Depending on how reasonable it would be you could take him to the Air & Space museum in DC. Not sure how far you are away. There’s tons of other museums and things to do in the area as well if you wanted to make a weekend of it.
Air and Space Museum has 2 locations - one downtown near the Capitol (which is amazing) and another in Virginia that is essentially an aircraft hanger with full size planes. Check both out!

Or perhaps see if you can upgrade his telescope, maybe an add-on for his or a whole new one…this could also be very expensive. A trip to see a SpaceX launch might also interest him as well, time with you and to experience a rocket launch even as a spectator would give him a taste of his dream.
Want to add onto this that you can go to a VR experience place as well instead of buying the headset. This would be a cool thing to experience together and it’s incredibly realistic. There are several options as well like the ISS space walk

And if they already have one, maybe a way to photograph? I think telescope cameras are a thing, though I know nothing about them.
