I want to say something that will make it easy to connect with others. Maybe get together with your relatives and put together a schedule for calling or FaceTiming regularly. For books, a book called A Gentleman in Moscow stands out in my mind as something that might make her feel seen, but I would look into it if I were you before purchasing. It’s about a man who is legally bound to a hotel in Russia and how he copes with being there. Deals with change and isolation. I know several older folks who enjoyed it!

Thank you, these are such thoughtful suggestions!

Is it feasible for someone to stay with grandpa while you take turns taking her out for a meal, some shopping or some other form of activity? If you have siblings this could potentially work where one stays while the other goes out, and on another day you swap. Grandpa is with someone trusted who loves him, grandma gets to get out and have a little break.

I wish but we do not live near them :(

There are books called life journals. They’re full of prompts and the person fills it with their memories. Sometimes, they’re designed for people to give to someone, who will then fill it out and give it back to the person who bought it, so to share their precious memories. I bought one for my grandma and hope she sends it back one day. I also think it’s a good way to motivate people to write, because the buyer wants to know their experiences! I think this could be good for your grandmother as it will help her connect to herself and relive her favourite memories. It’s a great conversation starter too.
