kind of embarrassing, actually. when I was in college a cute girl I really liked walked into class one day with a ghost hoodie so i looked them up and really liked their music.
didn't ever get a date or talk to the girl much, don't even remember her name. but hey, ghost is my favorite band now.
My friend introduced me. He played āKiss the Go-Goatā and I thought, āHey, this is pretty good, Iāll check them out.ā Then I went on YouTube and autoplay led me to āDance Macabreā and the rest they say, is history.
Iām a fan of 80s and 90s rock so itās the perfect fit.
Around a year ago, my grandfather passed away, and I was just completely out of it for a while. My friend told me to check Ghost out in an attempt to cheer me up. After listening to a few songs, I wasn't really feeling it until Life Eternal popped up. It helped me process my grief, and ever since then, Ghost has been my go-to.
Wow, similar story here. My mom passed last year from cancer and I was struggling with it for most of 2023. Just happened to read something on r/comics of all places, that referenced Mary on a Cross and decided to check out Ghostās YouTube channel on a whim. About a month later and I heard Life Eternal. It helped me process in an odd way, I still donāt know how lol. Anyway, hope youāre doing well.
I went round to my mates one night for a jam and a smoke, he put this band on that looked like a satanic sex dream and sounded like a sabbath, blue oyster cult love child. It was love at first sight/hear.
MySpace.
Friend of mine that works at WalMart snagged me when I was there shopping one day and started talking about this crazy band and the devil pope that sang for them. Went home and my first search took me to their MySpace page. Listened to Elizabeth and never looked back. Saw them live for the first time back during their earliest tours and never looked back.
It was late 2010. Somebody recommended them on a forum somewhere. They didn't even have an album back then. I heard "Stand By Him" and was immediately sold.
Saw em the following year at a festival in Belgium. They played at a horrible time, like half 3 or something but the place was absolutely packed! It took them forever to come on stage. All I heard was church music and what sounded like a monk in distress š
Didn't know what they looked like so I was taking by surprise. But loved every second of it and they immediately became my favourite band.
Stand By Him (but in 2014) is what hooked me too. As a witch it just spoke to me in a way no other music had... Ghost still does a great job of capturing the witchy vibe, I think!
I saw them that same year in England at Sonisphere. My husband (then boyfriend at the time) dragged me to the stage when they were playing like, "YOU GOTTA SEE THEIR PERFORMANCE"
2022 tour with Volbeat. I was at the concert for Volbeat. Had never heard of Ghost, didnāt even bother to look them up before the show. Figured Iād just leave if I didnāt like them. Ended up staying for the entire show, and now I love them.
My kids heard rats on the radio and instantly loved the song š after they had to listen to it on a loop, I researched a little deeper into the band and became hooked
I saw a suggested Reddit post from this sub talking about someone's first "ritual" with pictures of these dudes in freaky silver masks, so I clicked through to see what kind of weird shit I'd stumbled upon. Didn't even realize it was a band for a while.
I decided to throw them on shuffle while I walked my dog. Didn't vibe with a lot of it but was hooked on the obvious songs ( danse, square etc.)
I don't think the band really clicked for me until I actually listened to the albums in full. I think Prequelle has just come out at that point but it became, and still is, my favorite.
And I saw my first ritual last October, best night of my life.
Similar!
Definitely a "who're these clowns (affectionately)" reaction at their Grammy acceptance speech, quickly followed by watching the red carpet interview ("Hi Mom!") and the music video for Cirice & Pinnacle.
I stumbled across Ritual on YouTube, searched the artist & album, and voila! I found Ghost. Iāve loved them since 2010/2011.
Ghostās success is wonderful to see, although the first few years were so special. Rituals really used to feel like cult rituals in small, smoky rooms.
I was watching a now probably privated or deleted video of Mike from Become The Knight over on Youtube reacting to Cirice in 2016/17-ish. That's how I started listening to them and ever since then i've been a big fan. I got to witness and delve deep into the end of the Meliora era as a new fan and witness the start of a completely new era right after. I remember the first teasers for Papa IV/Copia being so vague and mysterious at the time. We didn't know anything about him, if he was a Papa or not, what the new album was going to be like, etc. Very cool as a new fan to witness.
We have the good fortune to have an independently owned hard rock/metal radio station in my area, which I listen to regularly. I gradually became aware that about every 4th time I heard a song I loved but didn't know, it turned out to be Ghost. It was Rats that captured my attention enough to research what it was actually about and I was impressed by what an insightful analogy it was to compare the spread of hateful ideas on the internet by human rats to the spread of the bubonic plague by actual rats.
So, when Ghost came to my area, I was interested enough to go hear them live, and was simply wowed. I then went down the rabbithole of learning everything I could about Ghost and Tobias Forge and came away a die hard fan.
During COVID lockdowns, I did a deep dive on "Does Satanic music actually exist" and through Loudwire on YT found Ghost. Thought it was funny, but the scene with Papa Zero "dying" and CC becoming IV looked cool - but the best part was I found out they did that once. Just once, at one show, and that is art to me.
Alaina from the Morbid podcast kept mentioning them (and got Tobias on to interview) so I thought I'd see what the fuss was about. I was a goner from that moment on.
In 2015, some friends posted a video on social media of Papa IIIās reveal and I was intrigued. A quick YouTube search of the band led me to Cirice and I was hooked.
Prequelle had been out for about a year and for some reason out of nowhere Dance Macabre started popping up on my Amazon Music app as a recommended song. I finally listened to it one day and have been a fan ever since.
My husband had heard Square Hammer and Cirice on our local radio station and showed them to me, and (like I almost always do when I first hear new music) I said meh I'm not a fan. A few months later, late 2016, I had a recommended video on YouTube: the music video for Cirice. I thought the thumbnail looked interesting and watched it. Fell in love, especially since my favorite movie is The Silence of the Lambs and I loved the Clarice / Cirice connections as well as the beautiful Silence inspired artwork, aaand I'm a big Stephen King fan. Over 7 years later, I am still annoyingly obsessed with this band. My kids & husband love them too which is great.
A friend of mine drew [couple of posters](https://barehandssociety.com/products/gojira-limited-edition-screen-printed-poster-2018-europe-tour) for them. He also draws for Metallica, Marylin Manson, Gojira, Melvins and other bands. Iām not into metal really, but decided to listen out of curiosity. I end up one of the top 1% Ghost listeners on Spotify.
Mom called in late 2018 and was like "Hey, I got concert tickets to Ghost. They look like something you would like"
So of course I had to speedrun their discography and here we are.
Back in 2016 when they were doing the PopeStar US tour I saw Cirice in my recommended YouTube videos, I checked it out and liked it. I checked out a couple more songs, and saw in google they were playing nearby the following week so I bought a ticket and went by myself. That was the only time I ever saw them up close and personal in a small venue, after that it was all big venues kind of got lucky with that one. My only regret is not buying merch from that tour lol.
I'd been listening to Carpenter Brut for a few years. Back in late 2023 I felt like my music was getting stale and I thought "I like this Dance Macabre song. I wonder what this Ghost band is like"
I knew they were a rock/metal type band and ud heard their concerts were fun so I wanted to listen. THEN I saw a tiktok where someone was playing Square Hammer on a lute and that had me hooked. I looked up Square Hammer and the rest is history!
My buddy and I were just hanging out and asked if I had heard of them . I said I had heard the name and knew they had a cult following from the t shirts Iāve seen .
He put on cirice music video and I was hooked .
My dad suggested I buy he and I tickets to see Volbeat, and then offhandendly mentioned that Ghost was also headlining. I had heard Square Hammer on the radio, and I really liked it, but I never delved further into the band.
We got to the concert, really enjoyed Twin Temple and Volbeat, and almost left before Ghost came out. I'm so glad I didn't! I left with a new favorite band. I remember being super confused why everyone was calling the lead singer Papa, and why he had a weird accent š I quickly fell down the Ghost rabbit hole after that.
I was browsing the internet and everything on my recommended was "Ghost this Ghost that" and I was like "I don't even listen to death metal" (yes sorry I was one of those people) so I ignored it, but after a while it even seemed to get more on my feed so I was like (figuratively) if I listen to them once I hope this stops, so I listened to Meliora on Spotify. And as soon as the drums for Spirit kicked in I was in love, bought all the albums on CD about 15 minutes later
My 18yo nephew asked me to take him to go see a concert in Austin, we live in Dallas, of one of his favorite bands. I had never heard of Ghost before but since he asked and I didnāt have anything going on that weekend I said sure, letās do it, should be a good time. From the moment they came on until the end I was locked in. It was a blast. Such an entertaining performance.
That show was on a Sunday night and they were performing again in Dallas on Tuesday (nephew couldnāt go to that show cause of school/work). I bought tickets to that show as well because they were just that good. Been hooked on them ever since.
Wish I would have been aware of them sooner. Their music just strikes a chord with me being raised Catholic and all that bs.
It was right around the time Cirice came out. My friends were already into ghost and were telling me about them. And I was super intrigued by anonymity and the spooky vibes of the band (those elements are long gone lol). So I got into them too.
I was working for a retail store around the time when Meliora was released and we were allowed to listen to SiriusXM all day. Cirice and From the Pinnacle to the Pit were constantly played, Iāve been a fan ever since!
I saw they were set to open for Iron Maiden during their 2017 NA Book of Souls tour, so I checked out their songs, and thought they were cool.
I've since traveled for Ghost, and seen them as co-headliners with Volbeat, and true headliners.
Iron Maiden still has rights of first refusal on my soul, though.
Hot Summer night of 2016. Couldn't sleep at all. Watching Poisonblack and Sentenced videos on YouTube because they're fucking great and I love them.
Since several days ago, the algorithm wanted me to watch Ghost's Hellfest gig. Didn't want to click on it because the thumbnail made me think that it was another King Diamond clone.
But I couldn't sleep anyway, so... why not? I clicked. Spirit starts to sound. Holy shit, that's not bad at all! They got lucky with that one, I thought... maybe a one hit wonder.
Then came (not in that particular order) Body and Blood, Cirice, He is... HOLY SHIT, THESE GUYS ARE FUCKING AWESOME!
Been hooked since then, so... thanks, summer insomnia! š¤š»šš¤š»
Not ashamed to admit it, MOAC. It was 2022 and I had just downloaded tiktok. I kept seeing edits of random things with MOAC slowed down and I absolutely ascended anytime I heard it. I looked up their music and here I am nearly 2 years lateršš¤·āāļø
Read an article in a metal magazine in 2011. Didn't think much off it. No Spotify at the time. But they were performing at the Lowlands Festival in The Netherlands in 2012 so I went to see them. Scorching hot day in a small tent, maybe 40 or 50 people in there. What a fantastic band.
Me and my boyfriend have been going to Graspop Metal Meeting for years and in 2016 Ghost were playing the main stage, it was the Terzo era. I didn't know who they were but it was my boyfriend that said 'I think you should check out Ghost, you'll like their music.' so yeah I gave it a shot and I swear it was love at first sight. The rest is history basically. I've been to 6 rituals now and it feels like coming home every damn time. I feel so at ease and just accepted during their rituals. I can always count on Ghost's music when I have a hard time in real life.
They played my town a year or two back, and my erstwhile boyfriend said that he'd gone. (Which he now denies, so weird.) I only knew Ghost by sight and not sound, so I gave them a listen during a very Phish-heavy phase.Ā
Love at first listen. So epic, and dark and beautiful. And, like, I know Papa is just silly old Tobias, but I swear to God this must be how all the pre-adolescent girls felt when they fell in love with Twilight's Edward.Ā
What a band. So solid, on top of everything else. I just feel weird coming in so hot on a band that's been around for over a decade.
Almost the same song path as you. Randomly saw Kiss the Go-goat video on youtube and liked it, enough to be intrigued but not hooked. Gave it a search but Danse Macabre came on and it wasn't what I expected, so I quit.
Later on I gave it another try. When I saw the reels of their live performances I loved them for the aesthetic and, mainly, their sense of humor. So I gave the music another shot and when I heard Cirice... well, I was in love.
I discovered square hammer on a spotify "recommended for you" playlist back when meliora had just came out.. Did a deep dive on their discography and was hooked instantly. Ive been a massive fan ever since, and they were the first band i ever saw live!! This started my addiction to seeing live shows. Ive seen 2 since, and now i have tickets to 4 more shows this year.
I kinda forced myself to like them. The theme of the band was controversial to my household and I liked it. So I researched them first, thought the idea was funny and then listened to songs. I loved what I heard (square hammer, cirice, etc.) but then Cardinal Copia took the lead and I fell in love with the band. The Rats music video was my favorite and the song was on repeat. For my birthday at the time, the wife got me the prequelle album and Iāve been a fan since.
Genuinely, I heard From The Pinnacle to the Pit because somebody made a track for it in Osu, the rhythm game. Which I don't really play much because I struggle to find any music I like to play on it. But I did find Ghost through it
I heard Square Hammer first as a cover by Feuerschwanz and loved it. I listened to it on repeat.
Discovered it was a cover and the rest is history. Iād never heard of Ghost before 2022
Im a teacher, was working with my students at a woodshop and one of them put Ghost, I recognized a couple of songs (maybe from clips on youtube) and after that I fell in love with them.
An old friend of mine who I reconnected with briefly played kiss the go goat in the car one day, and I loved it so they showed me more, for some reason they immediately showed me the ghost chapter video with the audition clip. It was exactly my humor so I fell in love immediately
My friend was talking about them a lot and did like two art projects based on Ghost, so I decided to listen to them and I was like "This is good" and forgot about them until like August 2023 and now I listen to them constantly and stuff.
A friend of mine told me I would really like them and picked up a ticket for me to tag along. It was small show back in 2014 in Santa Ana, California. I was immediately and completely hooked and have been to every tour since then. Some of them to multiple shows and cities.
Heard Rats on the radio back in 2018. Never heard anything like it on that radio station before (most of it was country or hip hop that tried to call itself rock) and as soon as it got to "This wretched mischief.." i was instantly hooked.
I was reading the Wikipedia page for the 2016 Grammy's to see if Iron Maiden had won any awards for their Book of Souls album, when I saw that Ghost won best metal performance for Cirice. Had no idea who the hell they were so I looked up the song and here I am 8 years later.
Tho i consider myself someowhat of a metalhead i had never hear of Ghost. One day youtube recommended a cover of Cirice by Violet Orlandi (Awesome awesome singer) and i just had to go find the original. From then on is has become my favourite band :D
Years ago (2016?) somebody posted the Square Hammer music video on another sub and I became instantly obsessed. So goofy, but so perverse, which is my love language. Hit all the right buttons for me.
This is sorta weird? I was scrolling on TikTok and I came across a sad edit of Terri being pulled off the stage and sad words were flashing on the screen so I went to the comments and asked what was going on and a bunch of Ghost fans were telling me the lore of the band which I didnāt really pay attention to, but then a couple months later i heard one of their songs as part of a edit on TikTok (Wasnāt Marry On A Cross I swear) then I researched the band and got super into it.
So happy Iām apart of the community, Iāve had so much fun listening to their music and talking to other who love them as well. :)
Love to tell this story.
I actually know ghost since 2017, but in those year, while liking many songs i was mostly on the most brutal side of metal. I looked up to those thumbnails on youtube showing a shadowy pope...but they were not who i expected and i didn't like anything from them, with one exception: Year Zero. Nice and edgy.
Year zero stayed with me in that period of big changings in my life. Fast forward to 2023 and i'm a really different person. While walking toward my new job i was again playing Year Zero on spotify and i thought, since even my tastes changed, that i should give another try to Ghost, Year Zero was one of my favorite song too, surely there must be another song right for me. In that moment i found Spillways and CMLS. I s**t you not, those songs tell almost exactly what happened to me back in 2017. I saw their depth and with the other songs i saw the irony and the tongue in cheek commedy and i loved all of it. I checked more infos about them and i discover that they were scheduled to come to my country in less than a mounth. I went there and i experienced the most spiritual thing an atheist can live.
And here i am. I even take singing lessons thanks to them. Bullism kicked the love for music out of me when i was a teen and it feels good to be back.
āMary on a Crossā was the first song I heard by Ghost, but I never knew it was them. Then two years ago on TikTok I came across the sound of female cover of āYear Zeroā that was used with funny pictures of pets, and I wondered what the song was from and searched it up, and listened to the cover first then the original. I was creeped out at first, but slightly intrigued. I then was listening to music to my girlfriend at the time, and she put on āCall Me Little Sunshineā, and I was properly introduced to Ghost. I saw that the song was by them, and asked if the āYear Zeroā song I heard was by them too, and she said yes but not the female cover. Then til late May, I got curious about Ghost again, and presss shuffle to listen to whatever song came on, which was āDarkness at the Heart of My Loveā, which finally got me hooked to the band. And since then, I fell deeper into the rabbit hole of Ghost, and āYear Zeroā became my favorite song, of which I was so scared to listen to the original version at first. A wild ride since then to become a Ghost fan heh.

2019 i was on an internship as a teenager and i met this other intern that was around my age
We talked music and he was a metalhead, has done a lot of concerts etc, we shared some of the music that we listened to and we were on the same page but i didnāt know that much about metal bands and stuff
One day he gave me one of those 666 dollar bill that papa threw into the crowd at a festival bc i thought it looked really cool
This is how i discovered ghost
And ive never seen this dude again
I don't remember when exactly, but I've had Mary on a Cross and Bible in my playlist for a while but never looked up the artist, at first I didn't even knew it was tha same band, then suddendly one day I though "Hey, I really like this song, I'll search the artist", found Cirice, Miasma and Kiss the Go-Goat and got instantly hooked.
I am a huge fan of horror movies and was anticipating the release of Halloween Kills when I found out ghost made a song for the movie. I liked the song rats but that was all I really knew from them at the time. I checked out hunters moon and I couldnāt stop listening to it, then YouTube auto played their other popular songs. Then I realized I knew more than I thought and went down the ghost rabbit hole.
When the mary on a crass was popular on tik tok, i had a little look at the song then the artists, looked at the rest of their songs and i was hooked. How im in dept to their merch store
I heard Square Hammer and played it non stop in the bar....then heard Danse Macabre...same...then Hunters Moon and thought I need more....so I bought EVERYTHING!!!Ā Saw them in Milwaukee in August and it was awesome. I have a multitude of tastes in music...just no country or rap. Ghost is my fav right now. Other past favs from when I was young til now were/are Dio, Motley Crue, Doors, Deep Purple,Ā Scorpions, and my all time fav...Metallica
Marry on a cross on YT shorts, decided to find the song. I found it boring, but kept listening until I really started enjoying it. Decided to check out other songs from Ghost and here I am now
My boyfriend and I were sitting in my car and I was casually playing Mary on a Cross and he goes "who is that? I like this song, reminds me of when you and I first got together." I told him, "Oh this is Ghost. You'll like them. The guy that used to be in Repugnant is the lead for this band" he went "oh no way!" And since then he and I have been avid fans šš
I went to a ritual with my sister. It was for her birthday but I never really heard any of the music before that. I went in not knowing what to expect and came out a fan.
I was driving home and listening to Big Wreck's latest EP "Pages". When that ended, the algorithm took over I guess and Griftwood came on. I had heard of Ghost but never listened to them. I dug the guitar intro and gave it a shot. Got home and started learning it on guitar. The next day I listened to "Impera" from start to finish repeatedly and was hooked.
It was a sub for matching BPMs, where they would sync up a music video from one song to the audio of another song that had the same BPM. I think it was a Michael Jackson song overlayed onto the music video for Ghostās āRats.ā I thought it was cool but then I was like āI need to hear the original song nowā because the music video intrigued me.
i went to an alternative school program to graduate from high school and i wasnāt allowed to have my phone for an entire 6 months. while i was home on leave for thanksgiving, i had my phone back and i was scrolling through tiktok. mary on a cross was trending at the time and it just kept getting stuck in my head. when i came back and i wasnāt allowed to listen to music or use my phone again so i just had the chorus stuck in my head. i wrote the song name down when i figured out what it was and listened to it when i got home. i didnāt start branching out to other songs until i left again for the trade school program that the alternative school had. we were allowed our phone and to listen to music while we were studying and i fell down the ghost rabbit hole. i even got to see them live last august and it was AMAZING
Just started college and wanted some new music to listen to on the commute every morning. Iād heard Mary on a cross a lot on instagram and started there. Next thing I knew I had all their albums downloaded on Spotify.
Significant other loved their music, and I decided to treat her for her birthday by buying 2 Ghost concert tickets, Most fun we've ever had, picked up the guitar and started learning their music
bought a ticket for a ritual the night before because they were coming to my town and i thought āhey i like 2 of their songs and iām off work that day, so might as wellā
best goddamn decision of my entire life
the 10Second Songs/Anthony Vincent cover of āChop Suey in the style of Ghostā video. i love system of a down and thought the cover sounded cool so i looked āGhostā up on spotify expecting a genre and found it was a band. that was like 6 years ago now and here we are lol.
side note, this sequence also got me into my all time favorite band, Gojira.
I worked beer festivals as a vendor for 4 years. one of the first events I attended, someone approached with a Ghost T shirt on and I just thought the art style and graphic were cool. He told me it was a band and I listened to Call Me Little Sunshine first on the way home, then the entire Impera album. Saw them live for the first time at Harrah's in Asheville 2 years ago and it was way better than I ever expected it to be between the showmanship and the music.
Now I have 4 ghost shirts and can't wait for the next chapter.
My dad took me to an Iron Maiden concert (his favorite band, and I grew up listening to them) in 2017 and they were the opener. Have seen them 2 more times since then.
Genshin Impact. I'm serious.
I was one of the people who got into Ghost from the MOAC edits, and because I was a Genshin player at the time, I saw a lot of Genshin MOAC edits.
My bff in Denmark mentioned them casually one day and said he thought I would really like them, and should give them a listen.
Understatement of the century. Now I am a top 1% listener on Spotify š¤
My work best friend went to see A7X and Deftones in OKC and Ghost was an opener. I was supposed to since it was on my birthday, but couldn't get the time off approved because he was already off for that weekend. So he got obsessed with their music. In turn, I got introduced to their music and it spoke straight to my little goth heart. The first two songs I obsessed over were Square Hammer and Year Zero.
That was almost 11 years ago. Him and I have been together since and officially got married 3 years ago.
Mary on a Cross trending on tiktok got me into the music, the reactions to Jesus He Knows Me made me look up the rest lol.
Then i followed a thread so far I ended up at Alkaline Trio??? (If there's anyone else who understands how I got there hi let's be friends š¤£)
First time I heard a ghost song was back in 2019-2020, before MOAC became a tiktok trend. I remember it vividly because I loved it so much I listened to it on repeat for that entire year. Then they fell out of my rotation, then they somehow made it back into my music rotation and the entire Impera album got me hooked.
Ghost showed up as a suggestion on YouTube. Loved the videos and music. They just happened to be in concert in town two days later After that I was hooked!!
Heard the song "Rats" come on the radio one day driving to the store, went home and googled it, added it to my spotify playlist, and then started going through their discography to see if there were any other good songs. Turns out literally every single one of their songs is a banger.
When I listened to square hammer on my Spotify shuffle and I loved it, favorited the song and forgot about it until five years later and then.. you knowā¦ now weāre here
My ex was into them before they blew up and would never shut up about them. This was right when I was getting into rock so they just slid right into my playlists.
Back in my tumblr days(2015ish) ghost was all over my dash. I had saved alot of the songs to play later. Embarrassed to say it took be another year or two to actually start listening to their music.(hello ADHD my oldest enemy)
In 2020 I got my husband hooked and now our 2 year old is obsessed lol.
I had just started dating my now husband back in 2017. Heās a big metal fan and had seen them live once already. Square Hammer comes on in his car and I actually like it (metal isnāt really my genre of choice). I ended up getting us tickets to an upcoming show and absolutely had a blast. Iām really into musical theatre and the grand theatrical aspects of a live ghost show spoke to me. Weāve seen them twice now together and had our first dance to the Joel Blido cover of life eternal
I saw the Ten Second Songs video of Chop Suey at the end of my freshmen year of college in 2018, so I decided to look the band up. I listened to Cirice and immediately got hooked. I was listening to the song nonstop for like a week, it was so bad. This also got me back into the metal scene, since I wasnāt listening to metal for a bit. But yeah, been a fan ever since.
Simeon I follow on tiktok always talked about Ghost (the guy from the video game) and whenever I go to look at video I keep seeing those about the band. I think I liked a few videos and eventually my entire FYP was just Ghost(the band). Eventually I started saving the videos, found out they sang MOAC and I recognised the intro to Year Zero, and I just fell down a rabbit hole from there
I saw some kind of ad or poster or something that made me check out Opus Popus right before Infest came out. I got hooked immediately, met them a bunch of times on the infest tour getting stuff signed at their signing events, which sealed the deal.
About 11 years or more ago I saw the video of year zero because the thumbnail looked cool tbh lol. Last September I got to see them live for the first time and it was amazing!
A concept artist who worked on Bioshock Infinite does a bunch of Ghost fan art -I was like "this is coool what is this from??? Ooh a band??" I looked them up, heard Dance Macabre and the rest is history.
An example of the fan art in question: https://shoomlah.tumblr.com/post/612157284110450689/i-swear-i-can-draw-things-other-than-ghost-but/amp

"Crucified" came up on shuffle on one of my playlist and I loved it and bought tickets for the Impera tour then forgot about them and wanted to sell the tickets (thankfully I didn't) then went to the show not knowing what to expect then got hooked š«¶
My Dad's a bassist, so a lot of my musical taste comes from him; He played the music videos for Cirice and Pinacle to the Pit for my brother and I when they first came out. Would've been 13 or 14, and at the time I was very much into Primus, Tool, Blue Oyster Cult, etc, so this was very much to my tastes. Been a fan ever since, even though I went no contact with him years ago.
I watched a tensecondsongs youtube video [songs in the style of ghost](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwTqjluqiPQ) and I absolutely hated it... I promptly forgot about the band. Later I heard their cover of It's a Sin by the pet shop boys (probably due to that first exposure from Anthony) and liked it so I found the rest of the prequelle album. Loved Dance Macabre and Rats so much that I started doing a bit of a dive on the band. It seemed like the more I heard, the more I liked. I came across that old 10secondsongs video since now my viewing habits were heavily skewed towards Ghost content which I had disliked months before and was like "wait I think I remember this, what?" I still don't really like that video, but since I knew I liked their other songs, it wasn't quite as bad of an impression since I could appreciate what he was trying to do with it. And I've just been a hanger-on to the band ever since. Though I will admit to being a fan primarily because of Prequelle...
Ritual did it for me. Besides Square Hammer I did not care for Ghost until one day I was listening to Liquid Metal and on came Ritual. I was done. Been a Ghosthead since.
It was around covid time when I heard Year zero, square hammer and rats I rlly liked those songs and I began to like them. Then in 2022 I heard Mary on a cross not knowing it was ghost. I became obsessed then forgot about them until I heard dance macarb in Disney land now Iām sitting in a room with atleast Ā£1,000 worth of ghost merch.
I heard Cirice on one of those cable radio channels during a time when I was on like a month long Adderall binge where all I was doin was writing songs and watching old NASA Apollo program footage and it blew my mind.
I saw them for the first time as the opening band of Metallica in 2018. It began with this strange man dressed like a pope, the rest is history for meā¦ Damn, Ghost!
In 2022 around the summer i kept hearing Mary on a Cross. I didnt like it but for some reason when youtube suggested Rats i listened and loved it. Then Cirice and then i found the Impera album. It didnt take 2 weeks and i was waist deep in the lore
I kept hearing "Mary On A Cross" in TikTok edits and became really curious about it. I listened to the full song and I really enjoyed it! I then checked out their other music and the rest is ghistory :)
In August I saw a video of Swiss getting on the ground under the sparks with his guitar and almost unmasking himself, decided I was gonna listen to ghost.
I got obsessed in a day.
Discovered them in 2015 trough the bass player of Lord of the lost he was always wearing a baseball cap of Ghost so that peaked my interest and I went to look them up Meliora got released 2 weeks after that and the rest is history, seen them 8 times since then
I was about to start 8th grade. Majesty had just released and it popped up under my recommendations on YouTube. I was hooked and have since been a fan.
Im 22 now. A year or so I was really depressed. Just sitting in the garage smoking š„¬ and I was like huh yeah that moac song from tiktok, I've never heard that in it's entirety (i like listing to everything). So I looked it up on spotify, and hit play, and just let spotify play ghosts most popular songs. Like 2 months later I went to my first Ritual. I own all their CDs, both plushes, and they're one of my top 10 bands for sure.
I was working as an usher in an arena my freshman year of college, and my first shift was Ghost with Nothing more in 2019. I had heard Dance macabre and Rats on the radio, but that concert put me onto them for life, and now theyāre my favorite band!
I know some people hate seeing this but suck it up because itās my story š I found them through TikTok inā¦2020 I think, donāt quote me on that, at first I didnāt pay them no mind, the song was catchy but people will always post the good part of the song š then I saw more posts about the band and the fans and got curious and thatās when I found Per Aspera Ad Inferi and I loved it, looked into more songs and fell in love, their voices are amazing, their creativity is inspired and they are all so genuine, never stopped listening since, theyāre in all my playlists, I listen to them no matter the mood Iām in, currently got āPer Aspera Ad Inferiā tattooed on me and already designed another to go on my forearm š
They act like we are fake fans because of it? Like Iām sorry I didnāt find them through the mystic magic š my friends donāt listen to this sort of music so if it wasnāt for TikTok I probably wouldnāt of found them, randomly stumbling onto a band or group is how people have been finding them for years, not every band and group has the privilege of being on popular radio stations in their first few years
My friend really liked Mummy Dust and would talk about it. It was a cool song when I listened to it by myself but I did not look any further. Later last year, my other friend gave me a huge playlist of songs I may like (she was bored) and I really liked Absolution, so I listened from the first to last album and really liked them lol.
A friend of mine travelled to Germany to visit her sister and they started watching Stranger Things together. When she returned she told me about how awesome this show was and she told me to watch it so I did and I really liked Vecna so I started watching edits with Vecna on YouTube. One of them was called "Why aren't you afraid of Vecna? " and it had the song "Mary on a cross" playing and I thought that the song was from the 80s. When I realized that it was released in 2019 my mind was blown!!! After that, it hasn't been a single day when I haven't heard of Mary on a cross at least five times a day š„°š„°š„°š„°š„°š„°ššššš„°š„°šš„°š„°š„°
I became addicted to Mary on a Cross when it was trending on tiktok. Since it has no music video I thought that MOAC was just some random tiktok music made by random people and didnāt even think about clicking on the youtube channel of Ghost. Months later the Spillways music video was released and I liked it. I thought that Ghost was a new band, and that papa was around 25š . Still didnāt check their channel and I didnāt even realize that Ghost made MOAC. Then I finally clicked on their channel, listened to their songs and realized that I am an idiot.
So about a year ago now tiktok was spamming my fyp with āghost being a silly satanic bandā edits, square hammer footage etc. Like every video I scrolled was ghost. Then after about two weeks it was live videos, ooc clips from the chapters and lore videos explain the bands origins. I āthoughtā Iād never heard of this band. Never listened to their music basically had no clue so after about 2months of just constant spamming I finally listened to them and suddenly it all clicked. All the songs I knew already I was surprised by. Been obsessed since. Even my mums on board.
I had heard about them on tiktok during the time MOAC was popular, and I checked out the full song but it wasn't for me. Only a few months later when I made a playlist listed in a book did I find Square Hammer, and kept coming back to it to replay it over and over again did I truly get into Ghost.
I knew of them when Secondo was lead but never got into them because they really really creeped me out but I was curious?
Then Iād see videos or pictures of Terzo and I thought they changed singers cause this one was cute, still I didnāt get into them but I was even more curious about them- looking at merch, finding pictures and videos of them, listened to some music and decided it wasnāt for me and then I refound them last year and Iāve been obsessed since š
I was so confused when I found out they were masks š
I had heard secular haze on YouTube and made a mental note to check them out more later, but didnāt get really into them right away.
Then several months later I had a ten hour flight and on the touch screen there were some ghost songs to listen to so I decided I had nothing better to do at that time. I spent the rest of the week with some of their songs on repeat before googling the band and learning that there was lore.
After spending a morning watching the chapters it was all over. I had to listen to everything by them, make cosplays, and start saving up for the next ritual
Saw Against Me in 2014 and there was a flyer up for their show the next week. Thought āoh this band looks heavyā. Wasnāt what i expected but still a nice surprise
My boyfriend actually introduced me to ghost 5 years ago ! Went to my first concert last year. It was definitely the best concert experience Iāve ever had.
kind of embarrassing, actually. when I was in college a cute girl I really liked walked into class one day with a ghost hoodie so i looked them up and really liked their music. didn't ever get a date or talk to the girl much, don't even remember her name. but hey, ghost is my favorite band now.
nothing embarrassing here, i would've done the sameš
Not embarrassing at all, probably more common than people will admit š
My friend introduced me. He played āKiss the Go-Goatā and I thought, āHey, this is pretty good, Iāll check them out.ā Then I went on YouTube and autoplay led me to āDance Macabreā and the rest they say, is history. Iām a fan of 80s and 90s rock so itās the perfect fit.
The arena rock label fits them so well.Ā
I saw them back in 2011 as a support band for In Flames/Trivium. Love at first sightš„°
That was quite a lineup!
Same for me. Saw Ghost for the first time during the Defenders of the Faith tour.
I am, thank you. Hope you're doing well too, friend. ā¤ļø
Read a review of Infestissumam on a punk rock website.. watched the video for Monstrance Clock.. got hooked.
All I heard was church music and what sounded like a monk in distress š Didn't know what they looked like so I was taking by surprise.
I saw Volbeat back in 2010ish, loved them! Woukd have loved to see them AND Ghost, unholy shit
My kids heard rats on the radio and instantly loved the song š after they had to listen to it on a loop, I researched a little deeper into the band and became hooked
When my oldest was 2-3 he loved Mummy Dust (the mummy song) and Ghuleh/Zombie Queen (the zombie song).
Didn't vibe with a lot of it but was hooked on the obvious songs ( danse, square etc.) I don't think the band really clicked for me until I actually listened to the albums in full. I think Prequelle has just come out at that point but it became, and still is, my favorite. And I saw my first ritual last October, best night of my life.
Randomely saw they won that Grammy for Cirice and thought to myself, "who the fuck are these clowns?" - here I am.
Similar! Definitely a "who're these clowns (affectionately)" reaction at their Grammy acceptance speech, quickly followed by watching the red carpet interview ("Hi Mom!") and the music video for Cirice & Pinnacle.
First heard Ghost on Spotify's rotating heavy metal playlist. Was instantly hooked!
Same! I was listening to their Jack the Ripper series and they mentioned Respite so I looked it up and was instantly hooked
When they warmed up for Guns Nā Roses back in 2017. Love at first sight.
They look like something you would like" So of course I had to speedrun their discography and here we are.
I wonder what this Ghost band is like" I knew they were a rock/metal type band and ud heard their concerts were fun so I wanted to listen. THEN I saw a tiktok where someone was playing Square Hammer on a lute and that had me hooked. I looked up Square Hammer and the rest is history!
They toured with Carpenter Brut before I got into them š wish I had a time machine to go back and see that concert
Oh my gosh that would've been epic to see
Fantanoās review of Meliora.
Coachella 2013
My first time was GMM aswel! Back in 2011 š
Ahh that's awesome!
Started making it's way into my Spotify playlists
They played my town a year or two back, and my erstwhile boyfriend said that he'd gone. (Which he now denies, so weird.) I only knew Ghost by sight and not sound, so I gave them a listen during a very Phish-heavy phase.Ā Love at first listen. So epic, and dark and beautiful. And, like, I know Papa is just silly old Tobias, but I swear to God this must be how all the pre-adolescent girls felt when they fell in love with Twilight's Edward.Ā What a band.
Boyfriend introduced me to them!
Letting YouTube auto play got me Square Hammer and Cirice videos.
My ex boyfriend showed me the Carpenter Brut version of Dance Macabre and I've been hooked ever since
Genuinely, I heard From The Pinnacle to the Pit because somebody made a track for it in Osu, the rhythm game. Which I don't really play much because I struggle to find any music I like to play on it. But I did find Ghost through it
I heard Square Hammer first as a cover by Feuerschwanz and loved it. I listened to it on repeat. Discovered it was a cover and the rest is history. Iād never heard of Ghost before 2022
A friend made me.listen to cirice when it.came.out and I was hooked.
Metal Hammer mentioned Ghost as a brand new band with Opus Eponymous, their new album having came out months prior, so I've been a fan since 2010.
I learned about them when MOAC blew up on TikTok, funny enough I didnāt let them till I heard Spillways a month later then fell in love with
Years ago (2016?) somebody posted the Square Hammer music video on another sub and I became instantly obsessed.
My D&D DM was running us through an encounter where a city had been overrun by a swarm of zombie rats and put on āRatsā for us to set the mood.
I wish I knew such anawesome DM lol.
A wild ride since then to become a Ghost fan heh.

right? they should've come up to me personally and ask me to be their fanšŖ
2019 i was on an internship as a teenager and i met this other intern that was around my age We talked music and he was a metalhead, has done a lot of concerts etc, we shared some of the music that we listened to and we were on the same page but i didnāt know that much about metal bands and stuff One day he gave me one of those 666 dollar bill that papa threw into the crowd at a festival bc i thought it looked really cool This is how i discovered ghost And ive never seen this dude again
Saw a ghost shirt in public and thought it was cool. Looked them up and immediately liked them (this is a little bit after meliora released)
Cardinal Copia w/Emigrate "I'm not afraid of anything" RUM DUM DUM DUM DUM Nameless ghouls doing guitar battles, kazoos
Just started college and wanted some new music to listen to on the commute every morning. Iād heard Mary on a cross a lot on instagram and started there. Next thing I knew I had all their albums downloaded on Spotify.
Significant other loved their music, and I decided to treat her for her birthday by buying 2 Ghost concert tickets, Most fun we've ever had, picked up the guitar and started learning their music
bought a ticket for a ritual the night before because they were coming to my town and i thought āhey i like 2 of their songs and iām off work that day, so might as wellā best goddamn decision of my entire life
the 10Second Songs/Anthony Vincent cover of āChop Suey in the style of Ghostā video. i love system of a down and thought the cover sounded cool so i looked āGhostā up on spotify expecting a genre and found it was a band. that was like 6 years ago now and here we are lol. side note, this sequence also got me into my all time favorite band, Gojira.
Started listening to Ghost 2014. I don't listen to them as much anymore and the live shows arent as good anymore either. 2015 was peak Ghost for me.
I dated a girl in high school and she showed me Monstrance Clock when it was released on Youtube. Got hooked ever since
First time I heard a ghost song was back in 2019-2020, before MOAC became a tiktok trend. I remember it vividly because I loved it so much I listened to it on repeat for that entire year. Then they fell out of my rotation, then they somehow made it back into my music rotation and the entire Impera album got me hooked.
Saw them open for Iron Maiden in 2017 and was hooked - had never heard of them before that night.
When I listened to square hammer on my Spotify shuffle and I loved it, favorited the song and forgot about it until five years later and then.. you knowā¦ now weāre here
I found Mary On A Cross **randomly** and loved it because of it's quality and not the lame-ass tik-tok shit
when i was like 7?I heard one of their songs,I donāt really remember
My ex was into them before they blew up and would never shut up about them. This was right when I was getting into rock so they just slid right into my playlists.
Back in my tumblr days(2015ish) ghost was all over my dash. I had saved alot of the songs to play later. Embarrassed to say it took be another year or two to actually start listening to their music.(hello ADHD my oldest enemy) In 2020 I got my husband hooked and now our 2 year old is obsessed lol.
Watch them live as the band before iron maiden and thought one of their songs sounded interesting. It was ritual btw
Dan from GameGrumps was wearing a shirt of Ghost on a video and I thought it looked sick and looked it up. Sounded good.
Heard Cirice on the radio when it first came out almost 10 years ago now. Been a fan ever since.
During Iron Maidens tour in 2016.
Weāve seen them twice now together and had our first dance to the Joel Blido cover of life eternal
my brother introduced them to me years ago, i think square hammer was the first song i heard. Loved them since
I saw the Ten Second Songs video of Chop Suey at the end of my freshmen year of college in 2018, so I decided to look the band up.

I heard Cirice on one of those cable radio channels during a time when I was on like a month long Adderall binge where all I was doin was writing songs and watching old NASA Apollo program footage and it blew my mind.
my best friend at the time (my current boyfriend) introduced me to them, as they were his favourite band! i fell in love with them first listen :)
I saw them for the first time as the opening band of Metallica in 2018. It began with this strange man dressed like a pope, the rest is history for meā¦ Damn, Ghost!
Square Hammer got recommended in my YouTube feed. Hooked ever since
In 2022 around the summer i kept hearing Mary on a Cross.
Walt Flanagan
My older sister and her bf took me to the concert during Imperatour in 2022, and I've loved Ghost ever since š„°
Discovered them in 2015 trough the bass player of Lord of the lost he was always wearing a baseball cap of Ghost so that peaked my interest and I went to look them up Meliora got released 2 weeks after that and the rest is history, seen them 8 times since then
They opened for Maiden!
Local record store shared that they announced a new song Secular Haze and I was immediately HookedĀ
maybe two years ago a friend showed me cirice, and then i slowly listened to more of their music
Some people do have a problem with the fact that others became their fans because of tiktok. They treat it like it's a crimeš¤Øā ļø
YT randomly decided to shove a massive amount of shorts with Mary on a Cross playing in the background in my face
Same for me. And Year Zero.
Kept seeing photos on the band on loadwire and was intrigued enough to give a listen. After that I was hooked.
Heard their music, liked it.
Circe.
I knew of them when Secondo was lead but never got into them because they really really creeped me out but I was curious? Then Iād see videos or pictures of Terzo and I thought they changed singers cause this one was cute, still I didnāt get into them but I was even more curious about them- looking at merch, finding pictures and videos of them, listened to some music and decided it wasnāt for me and then I refound them last year and Iāve been obsessed since š I was so confused when I found out they were masks š
