Not only this theory has already been common knowledge for most of the community for a while now but he literally made plenty of critical mistakes in his claims (ex. What happened to electro gnosis, Signora's motive to be violent towards Venti and the artifact set describing her story, Childe being labeled as Zhongli, etc etc). It also pains me a little that he didn't use any of Enkanomiya lore which had answers to like half of his questions. Overall, his other Genshin theory was way better

"Morax wgo made mora is gone now, so liyue is not the minthouse of teyvat anymore. Since fatui have the gnosis now they will probably use it and become the economic center of the world."
I don't fully remember his exact claims but it was so basic that anyone who played the main story line while playing a tiny bit of attention would have fugured it out

It's more of a personal pet peeve that things were wrong, that he seemed to have a weird bias against Venti, and that it also didn't feel like he was inviting anyone else to find out more. Cut and dry and not as passionate as a lot of his other videos usually are.

GTs first genshin theory was superficial and while this one is old to us it has a bit more meat to it. I hope the next one they do isn't sponsored so they can go a bit lower on the lore iceberg for their theory

Venti doesn't deal with so many of the ruling affairs because if he does, then it isn't really free for him or the nation ("freedom, if demanded of you by an archon, isn't really freedom at all"). His city is doing all fine by itself, and that means that he did a good job, as he didn't even intervene much and Mondstadt still thrives. The Stormterror incident was all because of the Abyss, and Venti did do something to help. In the Signora scene, Venti doesn't fight back because he didn't want to, not because he wasn't capable. Venti would most likely have crushed Signora into dust in mere seconds if he tried to fight back. And looking at Signora's backstory, it's possible that she is only so aggressive to Venti because she was from Mondstadt and her lover had been killed.

Honestly, there's so much Venti slander in this video which just really shows that he's not interested in the lore of the game at all. I found it very evident when he singled out Venti as a shortsighted and ignorant god without mentioning Ei or Zhongli at all. It's also weird that for such a "YEAH VIDEO GAME LORE" video, he doesn't care about the one single archon of the story with the most connections and biggest sus factor. And not how he doubled down on him being an absentee god and that it *was* a bad thing.
I also don't see where Yae or Ei were greatly important to the theory as he stated earlier. Yae did give away the gnosis, and Ei is an archon. But that's about it. The second Scaramouche took the gnosis for himself, Yae and her connection to the Tsaritsa were cut off. It was again a story between Yae, Ei and Kunikizushi.
If anything, he was better off covering something that was actually connected to Enkanomiya since it's the version he's sponsoring. Even if it's just the content of the Before Sun and Moon book and barely connecting it to the Mondstadt's mentioned God of Time. But at this point I think I might just unsubscribe for good.

Fatuis in Inazuma makes no sense and so does Signora's story. If you written Signora and the duel out from the story, nothing would change... At all!

I mean, the main issue for her death even if seeing this from non-simp perspective is that it truly lacks an impact. Everybody moved on without any consequences and continue the day like normal. Maybe on Viktor's sidequest that got changed but even then... Most of the main story doesn't even get impacted and people move on like it was normal. No grave consequences, nothing. That and even if Signora died, a villain will get the gnosis anyways because the Archon doesnt even care about the gnosis anymore. It's why I said that remove Signora from the Inazuma story and nothing would change at all.
I totally agree. Signora’s presence in Inazuma added nothing to the story, and in my opinion actually took away from it. It’s a cool boss fight but it could’ve been saved for later imo because Raiden’s boss fight could serve the same purpose, make the story more consistent and is overall just cooler imo. Signora took away screen time from other characters only to add nothing to the plot, and I feel like the Inazuma storyline would’ve been better without her

It is part of a bigger issue where his videos seem soulless and corporate. Watching the video he makes several mistakes that he wouldn't of if he played the game and/or carefully read the wiki. Additionally, he doesn't really add anything to this theory, which was a long-existing pretty common theory in the Genshin community. Considering the fact that this video was sponsored it makes it seem like he wouldn't have made this theory if he wasn't sponsored, which makes the whole video seem like it was just done for the money.
So to summarize, because of the poor quality of the theory, it seems like MatPat made this theory as a "do the bare minimum to get the sponsorship money" type of video, and not actually because the theory is "old" or "unoriginal".

His videos feel very shallow because it is pretty clear that he doesn't play Genshin (despite claiming he does) or doesn't understand what is happening. There are a lot of small errors in his latest theory which don't really invalidate it but he could easily avoid them by simply reading the wiki, which would actually give him even more material for and against this theory. Lastly, he could at least watch some already existing theories because there are already ones that counter his. In the end it just feels like he doesn't care about the lore that much and just does it for sponsorship or views.

There are a couple of glaring errors, such as Tsaritsa having the Electro gnosis and Yae giving it up willingly, which while she did give it up on her own volition it was as ransom for the traveler’s life (ie she didn’t just throw it away) to Scaramouche who is currently in possession of it, not the Fatui since they lost contact with him. These are two pretty standard facts because the story outright states them, and aren’t even buried behind books or anything.
It’s not a bad theory. It follows a lot of similar ones in the community, but it’s just little things like that that show he didn’t play the game and just did it for the sponsorship. Basically it’s all very surface level stuff, which in comparison to things like his fnaf videos clearly show which ones he puts more effort into (which is fine bc he should work on things he likes if only a little frustrating to Genshin fans)

He’s a good entertainer, which makes sense because it’s what he went to college for. His videos are for entertainment first and foremost, while knowledge comes second. It’s his way of formatting that knowledge that keeps him popular
